Located on the academy's lower level, several rooms of various sizes are available for exercise, sparring and Force powers training. The rooms are equipped with equipment such as practice droids, training remotes and holographic projectors capable of simulating a variety of environments or opponents as needed.

Inside the first lightsaber training room, a Kel Dor lightsaber instructor ebbs and flows in classic Ataru style kata's as the ramparts of his pitch black Baran Do Sage robes flaps sharply through the stagnant air of the training room, the orange blade flashing quickly enough through each side of the thrust in a never ending ribbon of light-- spread far as a fan would slice the thickness of fog.
To the battle instructor, moving through these katas is as good as hours of communion with the Force.

After the Kel'dor finishes his routines, he extinguishes his lightsaber and moves for a sanisteam. . .

Terra followed Jade into the training room, unsure of how this sparring match would go, as she hadn't ever sparred with Jade before. She just hoped that she could give the older woman a good showing at the very least, and hopefully she could learn something in the process. She had passed her Trial of Skill, after all, and now was the chance to put it to use.

Real lightsabers or training? was the question Jade was contemplating as they entered the Training Rooms. It wasn't that she thought Terra couldn't handle herself. She didn't have any evidence to back up a call on that either way. However, since Terra seemed shy, she might be more at ease with a training blade. Jade could remember the first time she'd had to fight with an instructor. It was always a matter of, do I go all out? or, will I maim or kill them? And this would hopefully remove that inhibition. She smiled as she walked to the side of the room and began getting ready. She took off and folded her voluminous outer robe neatly, placing it on the floor and then unfastened her heavy utility belt and placed it on top of that.
Then, she walked over to the weapons cabinet/locker and opened it. She picked up and examined two training sabers, and then walking back towards Terra, tossed her one. "You've probably had a lot of practice with these by now. And, since we've never fought before, it wouldn't look good to have to make an infirmary visit with a major cauterization." She smiled in a friendly fashion, wondering if Terra was a traditionalist. At this point, she might not have yet chosen her form and adapted it to what felt good for her. Generally that sort of specialization occurred over years of experience, and as far as she remembered, instructors and masters generally wished their pupils to model themselves after their behavior and habits. Serrin had always struck Jade as being traditional.

Terra smiled and nodded, also wanting to avoid any visits to the infirmary with a missing limb or some other grievous lightsaber wound. She had always used training sabers with Serrin so it wasn't like she wasn't used to using them. She caught the training saber that Jade tossed to her and switched on the green blade, giving it a few practice swings."That wouldn't be good."She took a few steps back and held up the saber, going with a Form I opening stance. Serrin had mostly taught her Form I, but lately, she had been gravitating towards the more aggressive Form IV during practice, though she hadn't quite mastered it enough to actually use it exclusively in a fight, relying mostly on the simpler Form I. In any case, she would get a chance to test her skills against Jade now..."I'm ready."

"Good. Let's see what you can do." Jade smiled as she flicked on her own training saber. It's blue blade glowed just like a normal saber would, but she could tell the difference. The hum was just a shade off, the color tint paler than her own blade. Her fingers tingled slightly as she tossed the hilt from her right hand to her left. She didn't salute. Perhaps talking about backgrounds and family caused emotional disturbance. For the two of them, it might be easier to get acquainted through battle. Sparks danced in Jade's eyes as she felt the sharpness of the Force focus around Terra Kiros, and for now the center of her existence became confined within this room as the Force flowed around the two of them. She wanted to know that Terra could take care of herself as much as possible if the two of them found themselves in a hostile environment. And outside the confines of the Jedi Academy, war wasn't fought politely. Terra's opening stance was textbook perfect, as to be expected of a padawan who had recently passed her Trial of Skill. Jade nodded in approval, "As of right now, I am your enemy." And then... turned and walked away, lightsaber loosely held in her left hand, "Kill me." Would Terra attack immediately? Would she go for an obviously open back? ---or would she freeze? Or would she do something else? She'd know in a few seconds.

Terra tightened the grip on her saber as Jade turned her back, and she hesitated for just a second, but one that seemed to last for hours. Attack, and gain the upper hand, kill her like she had said, or don't, be polite, they were in a sparring match after all. No...sparring was practice for the real thing. And there was something else, too. Something deep inside her that compelled her to attack. Jade had left herself open, and she had to take it...she had to kill...something inside Terra's subconscious was screaming at her to attack...
Terra suddenly lunged forwards, thrusting her weapon forwards in a stabbing attack right at the center of Jade's back.

Jade sensed the change in intensity at the epicenter of Terra's Force aura, a sudden solidifying of purpose in the infinitesimal flicker before she lunged. Her fingers tightened on her lightsaber as she brought it up in a vertical swing aiming to bat Terra's lunge wide, out to the left. Her body gave this added impetus as she simultaneously pivoted on her left foot, turning back in towards the girl and bringing up her right arm to strike at Terra's left shoulder as the two of them were brought close together.

Terra's stab was knocked aside, but she quickly recovered and braced herself as Jade brought her blade towards her left shoulder. Terra quickly brought her own blade up to block the attack, and she pushed back and tried to make a swing at Jade's torso from left to right.

Solid move on Terra's part, although the two of them were currently too close together for a horizontal slash to be delivered with maximum impact. Most notably, Terra had claimed she wished to focus on Ataru, the lightsaber form known for its flashy acrobatics and quick attacks, yet her feet had not left the floor, and she hadn't moved much from her opening stance. Also, she'd made a two-handed lunge---using two hands in a lunge shortens one's reach and pulls one off balance while moving forward.
Wishing to see if Terra was actually comfortable moving around in a combat situation, Jade jumped backwards out of the reach of Terra's slash to her midriff as her right hand flipped palm outward, summoning the Force into a Push directed at Terra (at the moment the idea was to knock her off balance, not throw her across the room) as she took another step back away from her. She faced the girl, left foot ahead of her right, knees bent, blue lightsaber in her left hand held comfortably in front of her in a guarding position, tip pointed to the ceiling.

Terra stumbled backwards as the Force Push hit her, but she quickly recovered, noting that Jade had created some distance between them. Letting the Force flow through her, she quickly crossed the room, using the Force to boost her speed as she quickly closed the distance, but rather than swing her saber, she propelled herself in a leap over Jade's head. Immediately upon landing, she swung in a wide arc from right to left at Jade's torso.

Jade spun to face Terra, and countered her slash with her own blade, grip slipping just enough that she felt a quick tingling just along the edge of her left side before batting the younger girl's blade away. It had been awhile since she'd fought left-handed. So, she switched over to her right hand.
After that, the pace sped up as lightsabers flashed and hissed between the two women. Jade found that her problem was anticipating the moves that an Ataru master would have used, and this led to a few minor scrapes in the process. She preferred to keep her feet on the ground and her center of gravity close to the floor.

Terra wondered if Jade had been fighting with her non dominant hand when she switched from her left hand to her right hand. If Jade was indeed switching to her dominant hand, then Terra would need to step it up.
From then on, she had started to slide into Form IV, while still using elements of Form I that she was more familiar with. The problem was she hadn't had much experience in an actual fight using Form IV, and hadn't really figured out how to integrate it with what she already knew.

By the time Jade called a halt, both of them were in need of the 'fresher. She replaced her lightsaber where she'd gotten it from and when Terra made to speak up, she gestured over to the 'fresher stations. "Reflect. Meet in ten," was her curt response. Ruefully she reflected she'd almost called 'five,' but decided at the last second that there was no need for military precision here. It had been a long time since she had taught anyone extensively. In fact---
---that would have been her lieutenants back on Galantos: Al'lara and her twin, Jolan'na. Brief thoughts of Al'lara had crossed her mind from time to time. Once she had been on the verge of attempting to communicate but always she had put it off. After all the two of them had been through there didn't really seem to be words that were adequate. Al'lara's older twin by three minutes had died serving Jade when she was governor of a gelatinous world with chromium ore as its only claim to fame. There had been a Sith invasion. Jade frowned. It had been costly, but the challenge had been--dare she admit it?--exciting. Her fingers twitched.
Jade enjoyed the refreshing blast of superheated water and rinsed off quickly. She pulled on a fresh tunic and returned to the main training room that she had Terra had been using earlier. For a moment or two she contemplated her reflection in mirrors that covered one wall. She stared deep into her own eyes and sighed as she wondered who was really looking back at her. Thick black hair had tumbled loosely around her shoulders. She reached up and deftly twisted it into a loose knot at the nape of her neck, pinning it in place with twin gold and jet hairsticks, a gift from a very close friend.
She sat on the padded floor, legs curled underneath her body in a gracefully executed lotus position as if she was meditation. She awaited the return of Terra Kiros.

After the meeting in the dining hall, 5 was filled with adrenaline. This entire ordeal seemed boring to her untill just about a hour ago. Things moved fast now (pun intended ) and she felt she couldnt sit still. She needed to move, so she decided on a checkup on the parts of the building she is allowed to go to. Walking the corridors, trying to get a mental mep done on the place, she found a door that had lightsaber fighting behind it. Filled with curiosity, she couldnt just not open the door.
She cought the last seconds of the swordfight, just hearing as the dominant jedi told the other one to take a break. Five simply walked in and said-5- "Hi!" Her eye was drawn at once towards the weapon racks. So did her fingers. Finding wooden wersions of lightsabers (little jedi practice weapons, she thought) and other, real weapons like lightsabers and dulled metal blades. She found something she liked. A Quarterstaff. It was the only weapon wich there was only one off. It felt special.
For those not knowing who 5 is, she is a Twilek female. Yellow skin, and a simple vanilla white dress. What was most intresting about her cloth was the slaves collar on her neck.

She sat on the padded floor, legs curled underneath her body in a gracefully executed lotus position as if she was meditation. She awaited the return of Terra Kiros. Terra switched her training saber off and quickly replaced it, but didn't get the opportunity to say anything to Jade before the older woman ordered her to the showers. Ordered...Serrin rarely ever gave an order to her like Jade had just done, saving those for times when it was seriously called for. Whenever Serrin ordered you to do something, it meant the situation was serious. So it was a little strange for her when she received a curt order to hit the showers and be out in ten minutes. She would follow it, of course, but it would be something else she would have to get used to if Jade was going to be her master.
She entered the shower, quickly undressed and stepped inside, her mind drifting back to the spar with Jade. It was clear that her technique still needed work, and that she would have to continue to study and refine her use of Ataru before applying it in an actual fight. Her use of Form I was fine, but it had been her attempt to switch to Ataru that had ended up costing her the spar. She sighed softly. Her Trial of Skill had gone better than this, and she had realized that she still had quite a bit of work to do...
The realization that she was running of time snapped her out of her reverie and she quickly shut off the water, dried off and got dressed and then went to join Jade back in the main training room. Hoping she wasn't late, she went to go sit down next to the older woman, but stopped when she saw the Twi'lek in the room, greeting them with a simple "hi". Terra managed a small smile."Hello."

Jade looked up and nodded a welcome as 5 entered the room. She did not seem to be an actual resident of the Academy, rather, a guest out exploring particularly since she seemed to be acquainting herself with the weapons locker for the first time. Her choice of quarterstaff was intriguing. However, the diminutive Jedi Master found her gaze drawn to the Twi'Lek's neck around which she wore the collar of a slave. Perhaps she was wearing it as a token of remembrance, but that did not seem like a memento that one would willingly wear publicly. So, it was more likely that she was still a slave. Jedi did not condone slavery, but there seemed to be little they could do to combat it on a wide scale. She met the woman's eyes, not willing to dwell on it and just as unwilling to inquire. Some things were not to be spoken of on a casual acquaintance.
"Greetings," she managed to give the impression of a half-bow without visibly moving from her seated position on the floor. "I am Jade, and this is Terra Kiros," she indicated the just-arrived padawan with a graceful wave of the hand in her direction. She wondered if the Twi'Lek had had weapons training and if that was something her owner had forced upon her. Or, perhaps she had escaped?
Reflecting upon what she knew of Serrin's character and style in addition to Terra's ill-concealed surprise of earlier, though, to her credit she had unquestioningly obeyed, Jade was aware that the past habits of her life made her a less-than-ideal choice of mentor to fill in for Serrin Roma. Terra often seemed shy and withdrawn. Jade's personality did not instinctively make allowances for that. She'd have to give the girl time to get to know her better. And she'd have to open up, something she did not normally do without time and careful prodding. And Terra wasn't the sort to press questions of a personal nature. At least, Jade would have to try and allow her to feel comfortable enough to pose questions. So, she smiled, a warm light in her eyes as she invited Terra to sit down with her, approving of her punctual return. Instead of passing judgment immediately on what had previously passed in their first sparring session together, she would do that later.
Jade's gaze drifted back to the female Twi'Lek holding a quarterstaff, matching her passive focus upon the woman to see if she intended anything nefarious. At the moment, she seemed only curious.

-5- "I am Five. I am the new art teacher."
She swung the quarterstaff around with both hands, letting it helicopter away in front of her. She found the balance to be good.
-5- "To say the truth, I am exited. Not many of my sisters have had the chance to fight a jedi, and I have a theory I wish to try out... may I intrude on your sparring, and ask for a favor?"
Five was not curious about the two jedi more then her actual agenda. She was rather confident in her knowledge about the jedi witch was actually just generalisations and a lot of falshoods mixed with a grain of truth. And her stance showed this too. Confident, with a slight hint of a smile on her face. As if she knew something funny but wouldnt tell.

Terra looked over the Twi'lek, who introduced herself as 'Five', which Terra found quite strange. It suddenly made a little more sense when she noticed the collar around Five's neck, which marked her as a slave. It made her uncomfortable, as she didn't like anything that reminded her of her own past life as a slave. She warily eyed the Twi'lek as she twirled a quarterstaff, asking if she could join in on the spar. Terra didn't answer her, deferring to Jade on this one, but also not sure what she could say anyway.
