As Five stabbed towards her midriff, Nala swung her near-side (right) sai up against the staff in a block. As soon as Five pulled back in order to strike again, Nala followed her movement, quickly stepping forward into Five as she pulled back, and slashing towards her torso with her left sai (from back to front, or outside to inside in reference to Five), quickly sidestepping to the right in order not to get pinned into a corner.

With the staff mostly horizontally between them, Five easily adjusted her end to meet the incoming strike, welcoming Nala to the fight with a simple block that turns into a feint to try and make her fall. She blocks the Sai strike with the end closest to her, and swings the end she has been jabbing with in under Nala, between her legs. She aims to strike at the womans leg that holds most of her weight from behind the knee. Nala either steps away with that leg, or she parries with the other sai.
To five, none would matter, because the next strike in the combo would be to knee Nala in the stomach with her right leg (witch is forward right now) to further more get her off balance and confidence. With her end of the staff blocking one sai, and the other end potentially occupying the other, she calculated good chances of success. Of course, this was her first fight with a jedi, so her calculations were far from accurate.

Arvis walked into one of the empty training rooms, followed by Jade Hanac. Here they could get a good feel for Jade's current level of proficiency with the Force so he would know where to start her training at. She had mentioned receiving training from her father but not enough to be a match for any other trained Force user, so he would be administrating the test accordingly."All right. Let's see..."He opened one of the lockers in the room and obtained a training lightsaber."Ever used a lightsaber before, Jade?"

*When Arvis went on to the training rooms, Jade quickly dropped her pack in the floor of her room. She had hoped if there was to be so mildly serious training she would have been able to change. But she kept the thought to herself. She was as capable of training in a skirt as well as pants. Right now was more of testing anyway than actual training, so she thought. She'd just have to remember to where her pants from now on.
Following Arvis, she paid less attention to the area around her. Her focus, instead, lay on him and what he would ask her. There would be time for touring and amazement later. She stopped a few feet behind him as he opened and pulled a lightsaber from the locker. She thought on her training with her father. It wasn't difficult to remember what she had learned to use. She had seen and held her father's lightsaber. It was elegant, yet simple in design, bearing a blue blade, the color, he had told her, representing his place as a Jedi Guardian. But she had never trained with it. Perhaps he had sought to give her more of a handle on weapons she more likely encounter in the universe on a normal level.*
"I've seen and handled a lightsaber, though I've never trained with one. My father taught me, instead, the use of knives and small swords. I guess though he trained me lightly in the Force, he didn't want to dwell too deep into the Jedi ways, so the training was on weapons I'd more likely run into. I handled the saber just enough though to understand there is a fair difference between the two though I'm not fully sure other than weight, weight dispersion, and blade form."

Arvis nodded and tossed the saber to her. It was just a standard training saber, able to do no worse than cause a slight burn. Perfect for training and those inexperienced in handling the Jedi's signature weapon."I see. Well what I just gave you is a training saber, so no one will lose any limbs if you miss your mark."Chuckling softly, he took a training remote out of the locker, as well as a helmet with a built in blast shield. A basic session with the remote and the training saber would give Arvis a good idea on Jade's current abilities with the Force.
He set the helmet down for now, then activated the remote so that it floated between them."I kid, of course. Anyway, we'll start with a basic reflexes test."He pointed to the remote."That remote will fire very low energy bolts and you'll block them with the training saber I gave you. It'll get slightly more difficult as you keep blocking the bolts, but it won't be that bad. You won't have to leap around or anything like that. Let me know when you're ready, Jade."

*Jade reached up, grabbing the saber with one hand. While a different saber entirely, it felt familiar. She remembered when her father had shown her his. It was so light, barely much of anything. She looked at it letting the hilt roll around in her hand, letting the weight register to her. After a moment, she brought it in front of her and gripped it with both hands. She held it firmly felling how it sat there. Much different than a regular sword. This hilt was a cylinder in shape while a standard sword's hilt was more ovalish and smaller, allowing for a far tighter grip than the lightsaber. As of now, she felt it was far better to keep it in a two handed grip until she progressed in her skill.
She let her hand move to the ignition switch and turned it on. The blade emerged in a brilliant show of light and sound. They were elegant and beautiful, training saber or real. She moved the lightsaber back and forth in front of her, her eyes on the blade. She took in the dispersion of weight, not feeling any extra weight from the blade. She spun it to her right side, letting the blade fall, then spin around to the top until it came back to its starting spot, then reversed the motion until it sat in front of her again. While she spun, her right hand stayed on the hilt, her left hand stayed close, moving opened handed to the pommel, letting it guide and assist the spin. It also allowed for her to grasp the saber with both hands again quickly should she need to hold for defense.
She looked to the helmet, then to the remote as it hovered to life between them. As Arvis spoke, she took in his words, letting the meaning of what she was going to be doing sink in. Visualization, her father called it. Though the method was different, the practice was the same. When in combat, her father wanted her to let go, open up to the Force. Trusting her eyes, she said, could lead to defeat. He'd have her close her eyes and respond to his attacks, while seeking and opening. She imaged that once things began flowing, the bolts would become faster.
Bring the saber up in front of her, she closed her eyes for a moment and took a slow steady breath. Slowly opening her eyes, she focused on the remote.* "I'm ready."

Arivs smiled and activated the remote. If Jade did well here, then he would have her put on the helmet with the bast shield down.
The remote began to float around the young woman, almost as if searching for an opening or weakness of some kind. Every now and then, it would fire a low energy bolt at Jade, aimed at various places on her torso. As Jade blocked more shots in succession, the remote would become more unpredictable in its shot pattern, aiming in seemingly random places and floating more erratically in an attempt to throw Jade off. Arvis watched, brow furrowed as he observed her movements.

*Jade watched as the remote began to move around her. She kept her saber up and let her eyes follow the remote. When it moved behind her, she didn't turn but let her head move with it only a bit. Her turns where slow and steady, not trying to quickly catch the remote in her sight again. While her eyes did help with seeing what was going on, she let her other senses assist her. The sounds, the movement of air as it passed, letting the Force move through her, letting her "see" more than she could normally.
As it came around in front it let off a bolt to her left side ribs. Easy enough to block as she tilted the blade sideways and brought it down. It moved up and back and forth in front of her before two more shots came from it, the first to the center of her chest and the second to her right leg, just below her hip. She responded quickly and smoothly, keeping the blade sideways, it moved up to blocked the one at her chest before spinning over to a downward angle to deflect the second. It began to speed up with each deflection, Jade keeping her focus on its movements and shots. The last bit came a quick flurry of shots. It passed in front of her to her right side, letting two shots go, one to her right arm then the next to her lower left ribs, which she brought blade over while pointed up to block the first then angled it down to her left for the second. The remote continued around her quickly, passing around her back, letting go two more, one at each shoulder blade. Jade brought the saber over her head and angled down her back, flowing from right to left, deflecting both shots. As it came to her front, three shots came, her left leg, right ribs, and center chest. As he blade came around, she simply brought it down without changing the angle to deflect the first, brought it up while angled down to her right rib, turning her body to allow the blade to move a bit closer, then turned it to angle upwards towards her right as she brought it in front of her to deflect the last.
With the final shot it stopped moving and just floated there. However, she kept her saber in front of her, eyes on the remote, waiting to see if it'd attack again, or if it finished.*

Arvis watched as Jade took on the remote, and as he thought, she did quite well. She had blocked every single shot, never once hesitating or looking like she might miss one. An impressive showing, no doubt, but not wholly unexpected. Still, now Arvis had some idea of where she was at, which of course was the whole point of this. To finish the test, he was going to take it one step farther. He quickly moved to pick up the helmet."Impressive, Jade. Now once more, but this time..."He handed her the helmet, bidding her to put it over her eyes."...let's see you do the dance in the dark, so to speak."

*Jade took the helmet and looked at it for a moment before nodding and putting it on. Everything fell dark before her. But it was expected. But she closed her eyes underneath the blast shield. It didn't matter because she couldn't see, but it was something she had learned; when the eyes are blocked from seeing what was in front of them, it was best to close them. To her, it seemed to register more focus to her other senses. Once again she took a deep breath, letting herself go. While she couldn't see, she could visualize, the image of the remote appearing before her based on the sound of its movements.*
"Let's do it."
*As she spoke, the remote began to move again. At first, it moved as before, making its passes, judging weak points. Her body began to sway as it moved, moving along with it. Her breaths were steady as she listened. She could "feel" the remote as it began its assault. As with the attacks before, it came with a single shot, then two, its pace and amount of shots quickening its pace. As it quickened, her moves began to become more rigid and seemed to slow, making it just in in time to block the shots. Finally, it unleashed its barrage of seven shots. All came at her front this time, the first at her waist, the second at her left shoulder, and the third to her right rib. She could feel the remote, the shots, but the speed began to play at her, blurring her "sight." She deflected the three shots, but when the fourth came to her left leg she felt the shot a bit too late. She couldn't move the saber fast enough and began to move to her right side instinctively. The bolt nicked the side of her leg, causing her to turn and fall on her butt, the last three shots firing passed her to the ground.
She rubbed her leg from the sting it gave her before pulling herself up to a seated position. Removing the helmet, her face was one of a slight confusion. She could sense the remote, feel its movements. It had become harder to track as it got faster, easy enough to understand. What confused her was that she sensed the bolt too late, and knew she couldn't bring her saber up in time. But despite her time in that thought, she was able to move and avoid a direct hit on her. She was sure she would have been hit dead on, but the truth was the opposite.*

Arvis wasn't surprised to see that Jade's performance in the dark wasn't quite as good, and it confirmed his initial assessment about her level of training. She had clearly been trained, but it was only the basic level, as she had said. Not that he had doubted her word, of course, but he had still needed to see for himself. As far as testing went, there wasn't much more he needed to know now.
Shutting down the remote, the scarlet haired Knight walked over to help the young woman to her feet, also taking a second to take the helmet from her."Not bad, Jade."He entered some more info on his datapad, then looked back over at her, smiling."I think that's all I need to know for now. You've got a good solid base to work off of, I think."Arvis was already going over some beginning lessons for her. Probably might be best to start with some meditation techniques to make her more aware of the Force before moving on to other lessons, but he didn't want to get ahead of himself.

*Jade kept her gaze down, her mind running, trying to figure out what happened. When it was too late, how could she dodge just slightly when she couldn't even move her blade. But as she thought about it, she remembered that day. It had always been a blur and it still was, but something snapped in her that day. It was like her skills seemed to sharpen, her abilities more adept in battle than her training suggested.
Her mind was in these thoughts deep enough that when Arvis came to help her up, she was slightly surprised to see him right there. She reached out her hand with a smile, letting the thoughts fade from her mind. Once on her feet, she handed him the helmet. Overall, she thought she had done well. She knew she didn't have the focus the Jedi had. By what she understood from her father, by her age, many where fairly experienced Knights already. But Arvis said she had a good solid base to work with. That was good to hear. She dusted herself off. Standing back up, she let her left hand play with her hair slightly, her right hand running over the blasters hilt. It was a habit she had formed over the past few months.*
"What's next?"

She answered it quickly, avoiding the staff by jumping and throwing herself backward as she kicked at Five's torso with both feet.
Nala raised her right arm to cover her lekku as she aimed to land on her back in a graceful roll back to her feet just barely outside Five's staff reach.

Arvis moved to put the helmet away, pondering the next item of business. There were probably one or two other little tests he could administer, but they would probably just serve to confirm what he now already knew.
He was about to answer her when his datapad chimed, reminding him that he actually needed to be meeting with the administrator. That was fortuitous, as he could make sure that Jade was registered at the academy."Whatever's next will have to wait for a bit, I'm afraid. I've got a meeting with the administrator."

*Jade listened, and gave him a nod. She was a bit relieved. While it didn't bother her to start right away, she would be able to rest up and gather herself. She wasn't used to traveling through space and the trip from Contruum did take its toll. She could feel her body tiring out just slightly and the desire to eat was starting to sit in as well. It was obvious as well when her stomach began to growl a little. Her hands left her hair and blaster and covered her stomach. Her face turned faintly red due to her embarrassment before fading. It was natural to feel hungry and served no purpose to hide it. Besides, if she was to jump into training, getting enough to eat and good amounts of rest was essential, as he father always said.*
"I don't want to keep you from such important matters. If you could just point me in the direction of something to eat, I'll do that and return to my quarters for the day. I'm not used to traveling from planet to planet. Not to mention I didn't sleep the best either on the trip. It'll allow me to rest up and prepare for future training."

Arivs smiled and nodded."All right then. I suppose we'll have to catch up tomorrow then. I'll try to have some kind of lesson or something for you."He escorted Jade outside the training room and pointed down the hallway."Dining room's that way, follow the signs. I'll see you later, Jade."With that, Arvis started walking the opposite direction, heading for the administrator's office.

*Jade gave him a small bow and watched as he headed off in the opposite direction. Once he was out of sight she turned, her stomach echoing its hungry growl once again. She definitely needed food. Quickly, she made a quick pace down the hall, making sure to follow the signs Arvis had pointed out to her to the dining rooms.*

Nala raised her right arm to cover her lekku as she aimed to land on her back in a graceful roll back to her feet just barely outside Five's staff reach. Fives staff crisscrossed in front of her, and she could catch the kick with normal reflexes of a non-force user. She manadged to catch Nala by the soles, and tried to push her feet to the side, instead of away. She tried to make Nalas landing as hard as possible by pushing her feet upwards and to Fives right, trying to redirect most of the force from the kick. But the kick was hard and harsh. She herself had to step back from it, but her technique was based on redirection of energy. She stepped back from Nalas kick, swung around with the force of the double foot kick, and charged forward trying to catch Nala just as she lands with a forcefull stab at her lower torso.
She hoped that the distraction of Nalas feet being pushed diagonally upwards would get the jedi off balance enough to get in a shot. She added a shrill scream to back up her attack.

Von walked into the training room and found himself a nice secluded room for just himself. Tossing his robes to the side Von picked up one of the training weapons and ordered one of the training droids to imitate an enemy. So the droid produce a swordsmen about equal stature to Von, not waiting for the droids image to greet him Von lept forward kicking off with his left food and his sword drawn to attack.

*Figuring he came to the training rooms, Jade made her way back there as well. As she entered the area, she got the feeling she felt around Von earlier. He must have been in another room. She could tell he was angry when he left. She felt no guilt over angering him; it was his own problem if he couldn't handle what others said. Even more if he took offense to something that wasn't even directed to him as an intended insult. The only guilt she had was of his words that tore at her mind. But she was here to rectify that problem. If he wanted a fight, she'd give him one. If he refused, she figured she'd have to make the first move. She came out here, she was going to get a fight in.
Heading over to the lockers that Arvis had taken her to, she opened it. Inside she saw the remote as well as a few training sabers. Sh grabbed a couple, one for him and one for her. If he planned to get into it, she'd make sure he'd at least couldn't kill her. And by what little she knew of lightsabers, she didn't think a training saber would hold up against a full fledged lightsaber or lightsaber resistant sword. If the training saber failed, then the fight would be pointless. Closing the locker she made her way towards Von's presence.
It wasn't long before she found him alone, tearing at a droid. It was easy to see his anger. Even coming here now, she didn't see it subsiding so quickly. It would be something she'd have to keep an eye on. She stopped a few feet in, propping her right hand on her hip. Instead of her skirt and sleeveless blouse, she was in black leather pants and a sleeveless gray vest with a high neck. Her silver hair was also down and hanging over her left shoulder, almost reaching her breasts.
She looked at him with focused eyes, and out of no where, a small smirk came across her face. Despite her thoughts on the truth, despite his anger, something played at her that made her want to play with him, taunt him. with that smirk she closed her eyes and shook her head.*
"You are quite impatient, aren't you? I'm not here for even thirty minutes and I'm being challenged. That eager to show off to a pretty girl?" *She opened her eyes and looked at him.* "All you had to do was ask again and let me change first. No way I'm going to fight in a skirt."
