Kay'li held her right hand out toward the little lizard's nose as the dragon settled on Ralph's shoulder, grinning as she observed it's curiosity. "Hello Durind." It was definitely a krayt dragon, now that she'd seen how its legs moved as it crawled. But why was it so small? Was it tame because it was tiny, or was it tiny because it had been tamed?
Her intuition about Jade's status was due in large part simply to the polite assumption that any Jedi of Jade's age would be a Master, or even if they were not, were definitively her elder, and should be treated with the same respect as a Master. "Almost seven years now." She replied to Jade's question, marveling at how the Force had drawn their conversation back to the Jedi Trials, the very matter she had just been considering, in regard to her own padawan. "Although it feels like much less."
Kay's eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly as Master Jade excused herself to take a comlink call, and she waited until the older woman returned. Nothing in Jade's demeanor or force signature revealed the nature of the call as she took her leave. Inwardly, Kay shrugged it off as none of her business. "I will be sure to let Master Roma know, if I should see her. May the Force be with you."

A distinctively non-human presence could be felt in the Force, if anyone was looking, moments before a long muzzle poked through some shrubberies near Terra's shoulder. At the end of the muzzle was a nose, a most magnificent sniffer indeed, and its owner proceeded to snuffle its way up the young woman's arm to her shoulder before poking unceremoniously into her face! This was followed by a long, slow lick. Big eyes blinked lazily as the nose and face were followed by the large body of a predatory vornskr. This would be Selaya, Jade's companion that she had left nosing about in the Gardens. She shook her large head, ears flapping, as she attempted to get rid of a pesky fly that had been persistently orbiting her ears just out of reach for the past three minutes. Obnoxious pest!
This one had been talking with Jade. Selaya looked around at the others, turned around slowly, and sank to the ground with a whumpff! right beside Terra. Her muzzle rested upon her front paws as her prehensile tail flicked back and forth lazily before its tip curled around Terra's arm in a friendly greeting. This one smelled ok.

Terra heard Kay'li speak about her Trials, and it brought her mind back to her own upcoming Trials. She had half a mind to ask Kay'li about it, but had scarcely leaned forwards when she heard something in the bushes behind her."Huh?"Terra looked over when she felt something on her arm, and by the time she had turned around, the vornskr hiding in the bushes had already started to lick her face."Wha...ack!!"She recoiled for a moment and raised her arm to wipe her face off where the vornskr had licked her, then sat back up to see who or what had ambushed her.
To her surprise it was a vornskr, and suddenly she recalled Ael mentioned that she had a pet vornskr wandering around the gardens. Selaya if memory served correctly. The creature seemed to be friendly enough, though Terra would have preferred a less...wet greeting. She did smile a little bit when Selaya wrapped her tail around her arm, taking that as a sign that the vornskr had signaled her as a friend.
Animals seemed to be taking a liking to her today. First the adorable little Durind, and then the...well still actually kind of cute, but definitely not so little Selaya."You scared me..."She wasn't sure if the vornskr understood her, but maybe next time she would refrain from licking the young woman in the face...

<<Yes>> a single-word answer accompanied by a definite feeling of mirth, and a deep rumbling purr that could only have one interpretation: laughter. The large 'cat' was most obviously pleased with herself. The tips of her ears twitched in all directions, listening to everything. <<take care of you>> shortly followed up with an oddly-shaped flickery impression of a shield. Selaya's eyes narrowed. She blinked solemnly at Kay'li and Ralph, stretching her paws so their long claws momentarily extended as she eyed the little krayt dragon perched on his shoulder. <<food>> was the obvious inquisitive query as she licked her fangs...though the little animal could only have been a toothsome snack for a beast as big as Selaya.

Terra felt must have missed the part in the book about the vornskr where it said that they could communicate through the Force, but she could have sworn she had felt Selaya speak to her, somehow. It was far from actual conversation, but the Jade's vornskr was definitely communicating with the young woman through the Force and she was able to understand the animal. She felt honored that Selaya trusted her enough to protect her, and it made Terra wonder if she had some kind of affinity with animals or something.
The minute that Selaya's eyes turned towards Durind, Terra tried her best to communicate that the little krayt dragon was NOT, in fact, food. Hopefully her message would get across as she slowly petted the vornskr.

Selaya's ears drooped sadly. It probably couldn't run very fast anyway. It had been awhile since she'd had a really exciting hunt. The animals in this place were too friendly, used to the Jedi, it was hard to make them realize a predator was in the area sometimes. Selaya closed her eyes to slits, enjoying the petting. That made three people: Jade, Adi, and now Terra that had been allowed to keep all their appendages after touching her. Without attempting to, the vornskr somehow managed to dissuade people getting that close. Corellia's Ambassador, Dmitri Koronov, had been nearly petrified the first time he'd had a run-in with the vornskr. It was incredibly amusing.

The nearby presence of a large and distinctly non-human predatory creature was recognized by the young Jedi's subconscious, but her sense of precognition did not elevate the information to a conscious recognition. There was no perceivable threat (at least toward herself, or her fellow Jedi) portrayed in the beast's actions. The vornskyr was tame, after all, and it's appearance through the force was much less alarming that its physical presence.
Thus, Kay'li was startled when a huge head suddenly plunged through the foliage not three feet away. Tearing her attention away from Durind, she faced the vornskyr confidently, without flinching. She knew that large predators were affected by human body language. Fear would indicate weakness. Her eyes widened in surprise as she watched the creature intently, stretching out through the force to sense it's intentions. The connection was tenuous, as best. There was no threat evident, but the beast seemed very pleased with itself about something, and seemed to be at least casually hungry.
"What is this, another pet?" Kay'li arched an eyebrow skeptically as she watched Terra pet the beast. She had arrived after Jade's mention of the vornskyr, and so she had missed out on the warning that the older woman had given. Surely, if anyone at the Academy were keeping such a large beast as a pet, she would have heard about it before now, wouldn't she? She maintained a suspicious eye on the vornskyr as she stretched out her left hand, channeling friendly feelings toward the beast.

== Soloiem Dem==
The male zabrak bows deeply to all those in attendance, but says nothing for fear of interrupting. But his own serene smile is interrupt by a cold void in the force, the presence of a vornskr. He unclasps his hands from behind his back in anticipation to defend or whatever needed to happen. He could not use the force to gauge the intentions of the creature, which deeply disturbed the would be counselor. But his mind was put to ease when he saw that the padawan Terra Kiros was unharmed. Soloiem put on another smile with slight embarrassment before listening to the conversation once more.

Terra smiled and nodded, remembering that Kay'li hadn't been present when Jade had spoken of Selaya before. The rest of the group seemed understandably intimidated by the vornskr's presence amongst them, but there wasn't anything to fear. She herself had been a little startled when the beast had suddenly appeared behind her and licked her face, but she wasn't afraid, especially after Selaya had communicated a desire to protect her.
She looked up at Kay'li, still smiling a little as she petted the vornskr."Her name is Selaya."

*Ralph let out a yawn, and unlike the others, did not flinch at the appearance of the Vornskr into the group. Was he unaware, or just un-phased? His demeanor was one of un-wavering calm. Clearly this young man was a brave one. Durind, however, shifted away onto Ralph's other shoulder. With another yawn, Ralph stood, worn out from his travels, He reached down and grabbed his bag, then called his folded staff to his hand with the Force.*
I should probably go find a room to occupy. It was nice meeting you both.
*And with that, Ralph began to make his way out of the gardens to go find a room for himself. He had no idea where he was going, but that wouldn't stop him from going.*

The Jedi Knight's eyes widened further as Terra gave a name to the beast, even as the rest of her body began to relax. Serrin's seemingly shy, unassuming padawan knew this creature by name and trusted it? Clearly there was much more to the girl that she had expected. Not that she really had any expectations at all. The academy had gotten too big for every Jedi on Corellia to become personally acquainted with every other Jedi. So really, Kay'Li wasn't sure what she was trying to say to herself. Certainly, it spoke well of the girl's training that she was able to befriend such a creature. She shook her head slightly, in bewilderment. "Yours?" She asked simply, raising one eyebrow quizzically.
As Ralph, who seemed quite tired, no doubt as a result of his long journey to Corellia, took his leave, the young woman nodded in acknowledgement. "Nice to meet you too, Ralph. See you around." Kay'li was only vaguely aware of the arrival of the silent Zabrak, her attention still largely fixed on the Vornskr. It posed no discernible threat, but she remembered well the stories of how it's species sometimes mistook a Jedi for it's natural prey, due to their strong presence in the force. It seemed plausible that even a tamed Vornskr could make a mistake if it were hungry enough.

Terra shook her head, remembering that Kay'li hadn't been there when Jade had first mentioned her pet vornskr. But with the way Selaya had greeted Terra, it wasn't surprising that one would assume that the vornskr might have belonged to Terra. She smiled a little."She's Master Jade's." She continued to gently pet Selaya, wondering where how long Ael would be away from Corellia for. At least the vornskir didn't seem to be worried.
She nodded."See you later." With that, Ralph was gone, leaving her alone with Kay'li and a male Zabrak that she didn't recognize standing a little ways away. She stretched slowly and got to her feet, stowing the datapad she had been reading in her cloak pocket. Looking down at Selaya, she wondered if maybe she should visit the archives to find some information on vornskrs and how to care for them. Ael hadn't really had time to explain much before being called away, and she wanted to help Selaya while her owner was away.

I glance around the garden as I enter. It isn't as crowded as usual, but there are still a fair amount of Jedi here, some conversing quietly with each other, others deep in meditation. I catch sight of a zabrak I recognize as being one of the Academy's Jedi consulars and make my way toward him. Soloiem is the name, I think.
"Pardon me," I say, "it's Master Soloiem, correct? Do you have a moment?"

Selaya's flicked her tail back and forth solemnly, large eyes gazing at the people around her. Then, she stretched in a lazy feline fashion extending her legs one after the other in four different directions before loping off into the depths of the gardens in search of lunch. She'd find Terra again later.

"Ah" Kay'li replied, nodding her head slightly as the puzzle resolved itself in her mind. She lifted her foot to take a friendly step closer to the beast, but stopped as the creature stretched prolongedly, and disappeared into the depths of the garden's thickest vegetation. The Knight's eyes followed the vornskr out of sight, then she turned slightly as another young Knight (she supposed) approached the silent Zabrak master, and addressed him.
It seemed that today was new arrivals day at the Academy, or something. The Force was mysterious like that sometimes, drawing great numbers of Jedi to the same place, and only years later would it become clear why that particular time and place had been chosen -- if it ever became clear at all.

== Knight Soloiem Dem==
The pale green-eyed Zabrak with a high ponytail smiles wide to greet the young female who addressed him. who addressed him, he clasped his hands behind his back."If by Master, you mean Instructor of the Force, then yes. And you are, of course, Celia Oshala. I believe you have attended some of my meditation sessions with the learners, have you not? What is it that I can do for you this fine day?" Soloiem opens his hand and indicates in front of him, silently inviting Celia to take a walk through the Gardens as not to disturb the others conversing. . . .

"Instructor, yes. Sorry," I say as we walk toward a more secluded corner of the garden. "I need guidance, actually." I give a quick look over my shoulder to make sure no one else is within earshot before continuing. "A few days ago, I encountered what seemed to be a very powerful Sith spirit. He was interested in the research of a Sith lord who died many years ago, and promised me 'great power' in exchange for tracking down anything that Sith lord discovered." I stop walking and look up at the instructor. "His offer of power is surely an attempt to sway me from the light, but I wonder about the information he's sent me to find. If it's useful to him, it might be useful to the Order as well. What would you do in my position?"

Terra watched Selaya go, figuring that the normally predatory vornskr must have been bored just hanging around here doing nothing. Maybe she could get to know Jade's pet a little better in the coming days, now that she was aware of her. It would have been nice if Jade had stayed to give her a few tips on dealing with Selaya, but maybe there was a book somewhere in the archives with the information she wanted. There probably wouldn't be time to look, at least today. Maybe tomorrow...
She smiled a little at Kay'li. "I should probably go now. It was nice to meet you, Kay'li." With that, she turned and headed out of the gardens, giving a slight nod to the Zabrak instructor, who she now recognized as Soloeim, before quickly making her way back into the academy building. First stop would be to the archives to return her materials, but her next lesson still wasn't for awhile. She pondered what to do as she left the gardens.

== Soloiem Dem==
He smiles slightly back to Serrin's Padawan and awaited for her to be out of ear shot before prompting Celia to continue. . .
. . .Soloiem's brow furrows and his palms find their constraints amongst each other as the Zabrak male folds his arms in front of himself, his cream robes flowing slightly with every slow strolling step he took. Knight Oshala's words disturbed Soloiem slightly as he listened with intent. " A Sith Apparition appeared to you? Was it here? Why did it come to you" Concern for the academy at large came into the typically serene demeanor Soloiem typically keeps himself. "Apologies. So the Spirit wanted you to obtain information for it and he offered you 'great power'? Yes, as you say, it is a slippery slope off the path of the Light. As Master Yoda has taught us all: The darkside is not more powerful, it is simply quicker." Soloiem took a centering breath to allow that simple reminder to sink in before he continued.
"As to the question of whether or not the information the Apparition wanted holds value to the Order at large. . ." Soloiem chose his next words carefully. "The Old Jedi Order closed its teachings in a very dogmatic manner and treating any faulter or progression with . . .extreme prejudice. The New Jedi Order brought us into a new view of what the Force really is; and it has ushered us into a more . . .fluid study in pursuance of serving the Living Force, or Ashla as many of our Corellian colleagues have been fond to call it. I tell you that, to tell you this: the Jedi High Council, Masters Roma and Son'tir among them, have encouraged all jedi to find their own path through personal exploration, meditation, and some independent study. We have found diversity has strengthened the Order at large. With that in mind, I cannot tell you what to study and what not study; that is a part of your path. But as an instructor of younglings here at a Jedi Order sanctioned academy, I have an obligation to warn you: if you pursue this information-- tread lightly. Many times type of power the Apparition mentioned comes with a price to pay. It is my belief that any power that the darkside craves, comes with a price I would not willingly pay." Soloiem gives a slight smile and nod to show his conclusion of his forewarning. "Does that help you at all, Knight Oshala?"

I nod slowly. "I believe so. It's hard to say without knowing what, if anything, I'll find in the research of this Sith Lord, but it seems worth pursuing. If I do find something, perhaps I'll bring it back here so it can be studied by more experienced eyes than mine. Regarding the spirit," I add, having noted the instructor's concern, "I doubt he will be a threat. He appears to be confined to the area surrounding a tomb down in Kashyyyk's Shadowlands. He likely has some influence outside his immediate surroundings--the fact that the ship I was on had sudden engine trouble and crash-landed a short distance from his tomb can't be a coincidence--but he seems isolated.
"Besides," I continue in a lighter tone, smiling, "he must be quite desperate if he's relying on Jedi he's never met to retrieve things he can't get himself. I'd say that gives me all the leverage."
