Johun nods approvingly.
On a personal note, I strive to learn something new everyday. One should never grow complacent, and always continue to learn.
Johun paused a minute, and looked over to Brielle.
Have you trained at all in martial combat, whether that be hand to hand, or with a lightsaber?

Brielle nods, noting Johun's suggestion about learning something new everyday, which she imagines will be an easy enough promise to herself to keep as she begins her training, and then replies to his question, her tone informational and devoid of braggadocio.
"I have trained quite extensively in unarmed combat. I'm not sure how much you know about the Epicanthix culture, but they place a high priority on combat readiness. My uncle taught me an eclectic mix of different schools. We focused most on Broken Gate, given its use by the Jedi, at least in the Galactic Republic, but he also taught me some techniques from Hijkata, as its focus is on deflection and countering of attacks to turn an opponent's momentum and strength against them, as befits the Jedi philosophy of prioritizing defense over attack. He also taught me some Bukuuni Hand techniques, which involve using the Force to enhance one's strength when striking or blocking. As for lightsaber combat, however, my uncle and I thought it best that it was undertaken when my instructors, or my Master if I was chosen as a Padawan, decided I was ready, since it is something a Jedi Initiate does, and I am not yet one, unless or until the Masters you spoke of give their approval."

Johun nodded as Brielle spoke.
And how are you at piloting vehicles?

Brielle, scrunching up her nose as she considers just how little experience she has with piloting vehicles, answers a bit more hesitantly than usual as she realizes that she may be behind other initiates or padawans who have probably already been learning to pilot starfighters or maybe even larger ships "Well . . . let's see, Knight Starfield, hmmm . . . I'm pretty decent on a swoop bike, and. . . Oh! Airspeeders, I can pilot those pretty well too."
With a sheepish shrug of her shoulders, Brielle admits, "I'm afraid that's it really."

Very good. I started out similarly.
Johun reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Soon you'll be flying starfighters like you were born in the cockpit.

"I'll take your word for it, Knight Starfield," Brielle says with a slightly uncertain smile, wondering if learning to pilot a starfighter will be as easy as he makes it sound, and hoping to acquit herself when the time comes.
Thinking that she will make her one new thing learned today learning more about what is involved in flight training, Brielle asks, "Is there a particular model of starfighter that initiates train on?"

Johun turned the door,
Well. let's head to the hangar and see what there is?
Johun headed to the hangar.

Brielle smiles excitedly when Johun says that they will be going to the hangar to ascertain what types of starfighters are available, nodding as she picks up her rucksack and slings it over her shoulder, "Sure!"
Paying attention to the route they take to the hangar in an effort to continue familiarizing herself with the layout of the academy, Brielle follows along behind Johun as he leads the way to the hangar.

It was rather quiet within the meditation gardens this morning, very few Jedi walking throughout or doing their meditations and training. Achiira didn’t like it much like this. As an empath she enjoyed being able to feel the other Jedi around her, feel their surface thoughts and emotions, figuring them out. Most of the time she’d sense an anxiousness from other younger Jedi, like the initiates and padawans, understanding the feeling all too well, and the feeling of not being good enough. Achiira felt this with her old Master a lot, but she didn’t dwell on this thought too long, she sometimes had it hard enough understanding other people, never-mind dealing with her own thoughts and emotions.
She was sat under one of the smaller trees, listening to the sounds of the few water fountains that trickled through the gardens, allowing this focus to wash away any of her thoughts and feelings, finding herself grounded, calmed and relaxed. She hadn’t been back to this temple for quite some time, but quickly became acquainted with this part of temple. As her mind started to settle and white out, she felt the continuous movements of the force moving between the surroundings, the bodies, the trees, stones and rocks, and various plants that were pitted around. It is a feeling that is always wondrous. Her senses had sharpened and become more heightened in the days since her old Master had died, probably through trauma more than anything, something she should really figure out and work through. Everything was shadows against the whiteness in her mind, it helped her to focus on shapes, sizes and other energies. Turning her palms upwards and arms outstretched, she drew the force into her left palm allowing it to travel up her arm, across her shoulders and down the right arm and out through the right palm. This was a simple gathering or force feeling technique she had learned as a youngling, it helped her to connect and settle with the force. She then brought her Palms together, rubbed them together for a few seconds before pushing her hands outwards slowly, letting any settled energy return to the open. She breathed out a big breath, feeling satisfied.
She felt okay. Something this time felt right. She had come back home. She found a belonging.

*Garret Hayes, dressed in the casual clothes of a smuggler rather than the green robes of most of his jedi brethren, wondered around the meditation gardens trying to focus his thoughts. He'd never been much for sitting and quietly contemplating, but the calm atmosphere and beautiful scenery of the meditation gardens was still an ideal location for his preferred form of meditation, walking. He'd been restless ever since the First Order attack on Corellia, his mind replaying the frantic mission to take out the Imperial Flagship, flying by a confusing mix of instinct and the will of the force through the hail of missiles and turbolasers to deliver the headmaster and his team to the mighty Super Star destroyer. His prowess with saber and blaster had been enough to keep himself alive through the frantic fighting within the confines of the massive ship, but his weak connection to the force itself left him frustrated, he knew that there was more that he could have done if only he could access more power. That frustration slowly bled away as he focused on what he had been brough along to do, the fly the team in, out then out again. He'd accomplished his mission, which had enabled the other members of the team to remove the Flagship from the fight, leading to the end of the assault on his homeworld. Everyone contributed the skills they had to the task, and it had gone as planned. His entire apprenticeship had been devoted to coming to terms with his relatively weak connection to the force and finding other ways he could contribute to the jedi cause, and every day was a reinforcement to that lesson.
Unfortunately bringing himself to the proper calmness of a Jedi Knight while in motion occasionally had unintended consequences. His inattention to his surroundings while deep in thought occasionally led him not to notice obstacles in his path, occasionally including other occupants in the garden. Practically tripping over a young woman deep in her own meditation Garret let out a very un-jedilike curse as he spun, almost gracefully, and caught himself from falling completely.* "I'm so sorry, are you alright?"

A sudden feeling broke through her focus, a frustration of some sort, like the weight of a world had been set upon her shoulders. Her face winced as a shiver ran through her body, trying to understand this feeling that broke her meditations. All the defined shadows in her minds vision had blurred into one darkness, making it difficult to point out who she was feeling, her concentration had broke. Before she could gather herself, a young man tripped over her foot, spinning with a curse and somehow not managing to fall. Achiira uncrossed her legs and stood to greet the young man.
Yes I am fine thank you, are you? She replied in her soft introvert voice.
As she looked at him she got the sense that he wasn’t your normal Jedi, something was different about him. He didn’t feel as present as the other Jedi do In the force to her, as if his connection to it wasn’t strong. He didn’t seem too much older than Achiira, early twenties possibly. The feeling of frustration seems to creep back into her thoughts, which she figured was this person, but she wouldn’t press into it, she didn’t know him. His presence was distracting.

*What Garret wanted to do was release his frustration, blame the younger jedi for being in the way, and release his tension with an outburst of yelling, but thankfully his training and common decency prevailed and instead of any of that he took a deep breath, in through the mouth and out through the nose, focusing his will on his tenuous connection to the living force around him and releasing his tension from his mind and letting the familiar trickle of energy bring him back to some semblance of proper jedi serenity, holding emotion at arms length and letting logic take his place. He was the one in the wrong here and he'd rudely interrupted the other jedi's meditations, there was no reason for him to get upset. Instead he managed a genuine, slightly embarrassed smile as he responded.* "I'm perfectly fine, just not being as aware of my surroundings as a good jedi should be." *He even managed a properly self-deprecating laugh* "Sometimes it's too easy to get lost in your own thoughts." *He awkwardly reached out his hand, realizing that he hadn't introduced himself properly* "I'm Garret by the way, Garret Hayes."

Achiira watched him closely, seeing him breathe, feeling his emotions as if they were her own. She knew there was something different about this Jedi, an oddness, someone you’d not expect to be a Jedi. She felt his frustration dissipate, it eased her a lot , and her body relaxed a little, thought she still had a sense of discomfort around him. She took the Jedi’s hand and exchanged the shake.
“Im Achiira Taan, pleasure to meet you. And I am glad you are fine. I understand too well about getting lost in thoughts, I have my days. That’s why I come here. I apologise if I’m in your spot by the way.”

*Garret saw the release of tension from the other jedi more than he sensed it, and assumed that she must be a bit of an empath, a skill he'd never had much luck with unfortunately. Reading people's emotional state in the force was a bit beyond him, though he'd learned to compensate by getting good at reading the body language and facial expressions of others. "Oh no, you're not in my spot at all, I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, as I often am." *He let out a small self deprecating laugh, only really half joking about his bad luck.* "I never had much success meditating in place like most of the masters seem to prefer, I've only ever truly been able to achieve anything close to meditation in motion. I've never been much for standing still." *Unconciously he pulled a small credcoin out of his pocket and started spinning it across his knuckles, unintentionally accenting his point.*

Yes, he definitely isn’t like any other Jedi I’ve met. Achiira thought to herself. He was fidgety, and could see why he would struggle with this kind of still meditation. She was intrigued by him, and since she hadn’t interacted much with others, found herself enjoying the interaction considering he put her on edge, and that she is very introverted. She watched the coin roll between Garrets fingers. “My old master told me meditation works in any form particular to the person. I myself find it hard to do so when in motion, there can be too many distractions, that’s why I come here…….quiet.” She let out a single soft laugh as she motioned to the gardens.
“What brings you In here ?” She asked, as she looked up and down at his choice of clothing, wanting to ask about that and what he does here, but didn’t want to bring up too many questions in one go.

*Garret shrugged somewhat sheepishly, he'd interrupted the younger jedi's meditations and it was quite clear that he'd managed to make her uncomfortable, probably with his excessive frustrations. He began to berate himself mentally for his own stupidity, but stopped himself, pulling back as he realized that would just add to his turmoil and her discomfort, he might not have been able to sense her feelings for himself, but he definitely knew that he could be better than that. Taking just another moment to focus himself on serenity, allowing his emotions to fully drain out of his system, and enjoy as much serenity as he was capable of achieving.
His posture relaxed slightly and he managed a proper smile and a bit of a chuckle.* "My master used to tell me the same thing, he's the one who helped me find a way to meditate even in motion. *Thoughts of his master and his training helped solidify his calm, the older Jedi's many lessons on self control replaying though his head helped center him and reminded him that even if he had been knighted, he still had plenty to learn.* "As for why I'm here... well I suppose I came seeking clarity, instead I managed to interfere with someone else's." *He chuckled slightly again, still embarrassed at having nearly tripped over her.* "What about you? Is there anything in particular you're seeking answers on, or just pontificating about the nature of life, the universe, and everything?"

Achiira’s demeanour shifted as she felt Garrets emotions somewhat fall away from himself, she felt a comfort around him. Reflecting on her own feelings, it’s not that she felt uncomfortable with him, it’s more so a distraction, in a way that she struggled to understand Garrets emotions as clearly as she could others, and that distracted her. It did please her that he was able to gain control over himself and his emotions.
Achiira let out a slight giggle. He was somewhat a funny character.
“Don’t worry about my clarity, I think I possibly spend too much time alone, so the company is welcome.” She smiled at him sincerely, behind her rosey cheeks. “I think I’m here……”she paused to think about the new word she’d learned from garret. “Pontificating……everything. Mostly I think past troubles, and what I’m supposed to do next”.
