*This is a large area capable of holding a good number of people. It is not extremely ornate, but shares the same ornamentation and color scheme as the base itself. Sand stone floors, light brown stucco-like walls, and long, dark wooden tables. A few booths line the walls for more private engagements. To the left is a long bar holding several types of food from meats to vegetables to fruits and breads. Much of the food is grown directly on the planet itself, but a few (depending on the needs or desires of the residents) are or can be shipped in from other worlds.
The main purpose of the room and side rooms is to provide a place to eat, as well as carry on important conversations, or even diplomatic discussions in a less formal atmosphere than the council chambers. The area is able to be changed and prepared for different occasions as need be.*

*Tom led the small Kushiban into the dining area, and it occurred to him now that he also hadn't eaten in some time; he'd forgotten all about it when he had been looking after Zemear and his family just after the incident. So it was a good stop for him as well, as he led Asani to the food bar, absentmindedly taking a plate for himself and beginning to fill it when he paused for a moment.* ... do you require any assistance? *She was so small that he wasn't sure she was capable of reaching the bar by herself, though maybe he was underestimating her. Possibly was. He wouldn't normally, but he also didn't want to appear rude and not ask. Kushiban were a mysterious species, and he wasn't sure what they were all capable of. He'd noted some change in fur color earlier, which he would definitely have to research later, as well as Kushiban in general.*

Following Tom into the dining area and indeed she would be looking up at the food bar, a bit perplexed. When asked if she needed any help, she looks up at Tom and nods. "Yes, I would appreciate it if you could give me a hand. The world isn't really set up too well for people who are only half a meter tall. I suppose I could use Telekinesis to get my food, but that would be a rather trivial use of the Force and I'd feel pretty silly resorting to that. But would you like to hear my little story?" She asks curiously, referring to the tale of how she got from Kushibah to beginning her training as a Padawan.

*Asani did in fact request assistance with the food bar, so Tom nodded and took a second plate, asking if there was anything she had a preference for. She seemed eager to tell her story, and asked if he'd like to hear it. He nodded with a smile.* Of course. I'd love to learn more about you, if I am to be helping you. And I'd be willing to share with you more information about myself as well, if you are ever curious. *Most of his history, at least. He didn't really have any dark secrets, just regrets. Wrongs he'd never had the chance to right. But those were in the past. There was nothing he could do about those now.*

Of course Tom would need to know what food to get for her, but at that question, Asani moves up and down the food bar, unable to see the foods available, but the number of different scents she got from it all was a bit overwhelming. She could tell that there was a lot of food here, some that she would like, some she would hate, and even some that would probably make her sick if she tried to eat it. To make things easy, she just makes her way over to the part of the bar that had the majority of the fruits and vegetables. "A few different things from this section would be fine, just pick whatever looks the most fresh I suppose. Stay away from the Beelpop melon though, because I'm allergic." She says with a nod, and looks around to see if there were any chairs that were raised up to make it easier for the vertically challenged to more easily reach the table. "Anyway, we can share stories then, I can't wait!" She adds in an excited tone as she waits for Tom to hand her the plate of food.

*Tom watched her move up and down, guessing she was likely using an advanced sense of smell to be able to tell what sorts of foods were available. Perhaps Tom should have explained outright what was there, but with the selection that was offered, it would have taken some time. Eventually she settled upon an area with fruits and vegetables, requesting a few things that looked the most fresh, though made it known she was allergic to Beelpop melon. Tom nodded and used his best discretion in selecting a few items for Asani, then handed her the plate.* There you are, if there're any problems I would be more than happy to rectify them. *In the meantime, he returned to fixing his own plate, but nodded at her enthusiasm.* Indeed. I do enjoy learning more about people, and don't mind sharing tales of my own as well.

While Tom gathers up a few things to put on her plate, Asani looks further down the food bar to where the drinks are, able to at least see some bottled drinks near the edge of the bar. She heads over and leaps into the air to grab a bottled tea, then walks back to take the plate from Tom, taking a moment to look at what he picked out for her and giving a nod of approval as she looks back up at him a moment, but as he goes about getting his own food, she makes her way over to a table set with a high chair next to it and nimbly leaps up into the seat while keeping her plate steady and setting both the plate and her beverage down on the table only to begin eating while she waits for Tom to join her. Her fur slowly fades to a creamy white as she is calm and content.

*Tom continued making his own plate, mostly a balanced meal with the focus on nutrients rather than taste, and for a drink chose water, before joining Asani at the table. He sat across from her, taking one bite of food, swallowing it, then looking at Asani.* You said you had a story to tell. I'm quite interested in hearing it, unless you'd rather finish your meal first.

It would seem apparent that Asani is rather hungry, as by the time Tom joins her at the table, she's half done eating the food on her plate. When he sits down across from her and asks about her story, she nods and takes a drink of her tea. "Alright, well like I said, I do love being outside. I even often went exploring when I was back on Kushibah, just enjoying being out in the world and seeing what new things I could discover for myself. My parents didn't like that I was going out alone, often punishing me and warning that I'd probably end up eaten by a Xinkra if I kept wandering off by myself. Well, it turned out their worries were founded, but it wasn't the Xinkra that got me. Some slavers snatched me up along with a few other Kushiban from another village. Well, they certainly weren't looking for us to do hard labor, they were into exotic pet trafficking." She says with a shake of her head before continuing. "Well, I wasn't interested in being anyone's pet. so when they showed us to their customers I wasn't exactly very friendly... They didn't like that, and so they didn't treat me very well. By the time they were busted for trying to conduct their trade on a planet where it was illegal, I was sick and severely underfed. But I was soon found by a Jedi by the name of Arcanus Sunstrider. He helped me recover and then brought me to the temple on Arkania, where I began my training. Later I returned home to be with my family when I learned that my father was dying. While I was there I built my lightsaber, and when I returned, Master Concordia introduced me to Master Roma and she continued my training up until we were separated and I found myself traveling with others around the galaxy trying to reach a Jedi who could either train me themselves, or help me locate Master Roma. So, here I am."

*Tom had indeed noticed that Asani had eaten half her meal already, and merely attributed it to not having eaten in a while. Then she began her story, and from the beginning, she did indeed seem a lot similar to Morgan, considering her love of being outside and exploring the world despite how dangerous it could be. Then the story turned darker, as she and some other Kushibans were abducted by slavers. Fortunately, she was rescued and taken to a temple, until she was taken on by Master Roma, then the two were separated, and Asani had been searching either for a temple or for Master Roma herself. A frown creased Tom's mustache.* How were the two of you separated? *Already, he was planning on putting together what pieces he could. He wished to get to know Asani more, but at the same time, if she could not find Master Roma, who was also a member of the High Council, then that was a bit alarming. So now he was invested in this for more reasons than just aiding the young Kushiban, and he hoped the answer to the question of "Where is Serrin Roma?" was not a terrible one.*

"Well... It's a long story... The last time I saw Master Roma, we were in Coronet City at the CorSec Detention Blocks. We were dropping off a couple of men who were planning to use some sort of device to release a toxin across a group of fields used for farming here on Felucia. I went to explore the city, and ended up getting a bit lost. When I finally returned to meet with Master Roma, I found out that she had left for Roon. I was eventually offered a spare ship to follow after her, but I... sorta damaged it getting through the asteroids that are around that world... With no credits to pay for repairs, and learning that Serrin had already finished her business and left, I was rather stranded. I was eventually able to convince a freighter to let me join their crew and work my way to paying for passage with them, but it was by no means going to be a direct route back to Corellia. To make matters worse, they left me behind after dropping something off on Malastare and watching something called a pod race. I'd really rather not go into what I went through to get here from there... but you asked how we were separated, and well, that's how it happened." She explains, then goes about finishing off the rest of her food after taking a sip from her beverage.

*Tom took special interest in the part about attempts to poison Felucian crops, and was grateful the potential perpetrators were caught. Tom almost wondered if he should start doing more tours of the planet in order to make sure there weren't other plots like this to poison the world. He'd have to investigate...
At the very least, Tom was grateful to hear that Master Roma was not a victim of a terrible circumstance, as he initially feared, but it seemed the same could not be said for Asani. Tom frowned as she said she'd rather not reveal what it took to get from Malastare to Felucia, and he nodded in understanding.* But you are here now, and that is what's most important. And I would be more than willing to both continue your training and help you seek Master Roma, if you'll have me. *He gave her a kind and reassuring smile before taking another bite of food. He knew he couldn't just abandon Zemear and his family after what had just happened, but he also couldn't turn a blind eye to the Kushiban's needs. Zemear was a strong boy and he had his family with him; under the base's protection, he would be fine. And that was not to say that he couldn't join them either, but that would be up to him...*

Yes, she was here now and certainly grateful to be here, even if Felucia was a rather dangerous planet. As for how she got here, she may go into that later, but for now, she doesn't feel it's relevant, and it was the case that she had been forced to do some things that she wasn't exactly proud of. As for Tom's offer to train her and help her find Master Roma, she nods, her fur turning yellow with happiness. "Thank you, thank you very much. I am sure there is much that you can teach me, and perhaps between the two of us we can eventually track down Master Roma. But before I start training, I should get a good rest yes?" She asks as she finishes off her tea and glances around a bit, wondering where she would be staying while she is on Felucia.

*Asani's fur once again changed color, and Tom made note to ask her later what the colors meant. He could assume this one meant happiness, judging by her feelings and response, causing Tom to smile a little wider. He was glad to give the little Kushiban hope, and now he had to give her a place to stay. He took a sip of water and lowered his glass.* Of course. Let me finish up here and we can be on our way. *Tom didn't have too much food on his plate, but he ate a little more quickly regardless, though not too quickly. When he was finished, he showed Asani where one would take their utensils after eating, placing his own there, then when she was ready, left the dining area with her to show her to the residential area.*

"Sure, don't let me rush you." Asani says with a nod. She is actually a little surprised that no one has actually gone out and asked her what the different colors meant, though she does suppose that one could figure out most of them by context given enough time around her. Already done with her meal, she waits patiently for Tom to finish up, then follows him to the spot where the used utensils are supposed to go, a short hop to place her own, then drops down to all fours and follows after Tom as he shows her to the residential area.

Returning in the morning for some breakfast, Asani looks around the relatively quiet dining hall. Now that Tom wasn't here to help her, she needed to find a way to reach the table. But she was resourceful, and pushes a chair toward the food bar, hopping up onto the seat to get a plate, then moving the chair down the table to get her food, and finally a juice to drink before pushing the chair with her food sitting on it's seat, up to a table and finally sitting down to eat. As she works at eating her first meal of the day, her thoughts wander, she wonders where Serrin Roma is now, what she may be doing, and what Tom will have her do when he begins to continue her training.

*Morning. Tom had done his duty and checked on Zemear and his family before coming here for his morning meal. He might have stayed with them, had he not already decided to lend his resources to Asani as well. So he appeared in the dining area, picking out Asani and making note of her location. He also noticed another familiar figure at the breakfast far, alone, straining only slightly to see over the edge in order to gather food.
Tom smiled and approached the bar himself, grabbing a plate and sidling up beside the young person.* Good morning, Jake. Not eating with your family?

*Jake looked up in surprise when someone said his name, then smiled when he saw it was Tom. He knew the man was a good friend of his dad's, and Morgan really liked him, but Jake hadn't really gotten a chance to know him yet. He always seemed like a friendly guy when he was around as well, and that was a plus in Jake's book.
Jake was on the tips of his toes, his shortness a bit of a minor hindrance when it came to serving himself, but he lowered himself onto his heels and turned to face Tom and give him a bow in greeting.* Good morning, Master Tom. My dad had to leave early, and Morgan went off again, so yeah, I'm here early. How are you?

*The boy was so polite and knew his manners. Which clearly meant he wasn't very familiar with Tom yet. Tom smiled and set about making his own plate as he responded to the boy.* You don't need to bow to me, nor refer to me as "Master." I'm much like your father in that respect, except your father accepts polite bows as a common greeting much more readily than I do. I'm more of a friend to all than a superior. Anyway, I am feeling fine this morning, though finding myself concerned about two pupils. One of them I am about to meet with for breakfast. Would you like to join us? *The invitation was mainly so that he wouldn't have to eat alone, and also to help introduce Asani to more members of the base, starting with the smaller ones. Tom kept a chuckle to himself; Jake and Morgan were tiny children already, especially for eight-year-olds, but now there was someone else even smaller in the base. Yes, Asani was a Kushiban and not human, but that was beside the point.*

*Oh. Right. Jake was so used to his upbringing on Yavin IV that his instinct was always to bow and treat everyone respectfully, but coming here, Jake had already met a handful of people who said he didn't have to bow to them, and Tom, while being a wise and kind older man, had always enforced the idea that he was no superior, just a friend. Jake blushed a little, but smiled, looking curious when Tom mentioned meeting a pupil for breakfast. When invited to eat with them, Jake grinned.* I'd love to, sir! Er, well, not "sir," but... Well, you know what I mean. *Jake only blushed more and looked away, finishing up his plate and grabbing a carton of chocolate milk from the drink area. When he was all prepared, he turned toward Tom and smiled, his blushing subsided.* Ready when you are, sir— Tom! Sir Tom! ... Not Sir Tom! *Jake shrank a little, cheeks again turning red, but he said nothing more; he'd just trip over his own tongue again. It was hard not to practice formalities like he was raised to do...*
