Theed was the capital city of the planet Naboo. Located on a sheer cliff over a vast floodplain, the city was home to the Royal House of Naboo's Royal Palace and the Royal House of Learning.

It has been a while since I was in Theed now, well actually it has hardly been twenty four hours, but it seems like a lot longer. Then again, maybe it's just the company I've had this past single hour. She hasn't said all that much apart from small talk, she seems pretty interesting, but I don't trust her. Though that really goes without saying, I actually trust no one but myself. Even my contracts are backed with contingency plans, and unless unavoidable, my clients rarely even meet me in person. Thank you holo-droids and holograms being invented, saves me a lot of annoying hassle. I turn to face this new girl I have 'befriended' and wonder what she has in her life plans. To marry rich and stay rich it would seem at first glance, but nothing is as it seems.
The transport stops off in the center of Theed and I follow Ashlyn Greene off. She is an attractive woman, so digging for gold per se shouldn't be that hard for her. Not sure why she chose Naboo for her place of grabbing wealth. Nemodians are far richer, but then again they are Nemodians and who wants to marry those ugly narcissistic motherkriffers? I search the crowd around me, and take in the low level of security forces and public order units that do dwell around in the city in case of emergencies and crime. Luckily for the people that reside here, Naboo remains pretty neutral and avoids most conflicts. But lets face it, every peaceful place has its moments of chaos. And two things always rise up from such situations, good and evil. But in the end, it is the grey character you truly want to win, for he will do what is needed without moral bounds, but will not tread on those below him without true cause. Or so it should work, walking the line is far harder than stepping one or the other way.

Connor sat at a table, dining outside on the establishments patio. A small smile adorned his usually solemn face as he watched the crowds of people pass him by. They were mindless for the most part, going about their daily routines, day after day. He actually recognized a few faces as they walked by. The Sith Lord made it a point to frequent this small diner, stopping in for at least one of his meals. It was clean, offered good food, and offered a beautiful view of the palace. That was what their brochure stated, and that suited him perfectly. Connor had scouted out much of Theed so far, but he had yet to visit the palace. The Republics presence here was weak, and the Jedi's was even more so. However if there were any of the infernal do-good morons here, then they would absolutely be hold up in the palace. Or perhaps visiting the estates that decorated Naboo's lake country. Either way he needed a few days to prepare himself before venturing into any areas that may hold a member of the Jedi Order. A few uninterrupted days would allow him to prepare a ritual that would hide his dark nature. He could make a Jedi believe to be a normal civilian, or perhaps even a fellow Jedi Knight. Connor would spend a little longer thinking about it. He had remained undetected so far and he planned on keeping it that way.
That had been his Sith Masters first lesson. Darth Apollyon had drilled the lesson of invisibility into him since the day Connor had landed on Dathomir. A true Sith has no need to display his powers for the entire galaxy to see. It was actually a sign of insecurity to Apollyon. A real Sith Lord stayed in the shadows and revealed himself when success was already won. Emperor Palpatine had not revealed himself to be a Sith Lord until years after the Jedi Order had been killed in "Order 66." That was a true Sith's power. The ability to crush the Jedi without the galaxy even knowing. The Rule of Two had been made to amplify the power and subversion of the Sith. Of course the Rule of Two had died out long ago. Sith roamed the galaxy like Jawas on Tatooine. There were many different factions in existence today and they were all vying to be the next Galactic Empire. Armadas of soldiers and warships traveled the galaxy, and they were being sent after other Sith or Mandalorians more often than not. The smile slipped into a frown as Connor shook his head in frustration. He was by no means as strong as his Master was before his disappearance, he had no delusion that he was the strongest Darth in the galaxy, but he still considered most others no more than children. While they played at war and assassinated each other, the Jedi Order flourished with the help of the Republic. They grew larger and more powerful and the Sith did nothing, absolutely NOTHING, about it!
Can I bring you anything else today Mr. Cross?
Ever the actor, Connor put his smile back in place and shook his head politely No Sharon, I will just have today's bill. It is time that I headed back to my hotel. I have a.. job that I need to prepare for..

Raylia sat in the quiet splendor of the University library in a small study room, a rather large tome open before her as she took notes on the subject at hand. It was really just a ruse, but as a credentialed lecturer at the instution of learning, it was as good a cover as any she could think of to meet up with Zik Kine. It had been a very long time since she had seen the young man and she hoped that he would keep his word and come, if only just to listen. She had a job to offer if he was interested, one that she hoped would bring him back to serving the Jedi Order. Her lekku draped over her shoulders lazily, the natural darker spots along their length almost hidden by the headdress she wore.

*The young man in question was making his way through the university. He wore robes very similar to the ones he hand when he left the order some time ago, opting to leave the armor and his combat ready robotic arm back on his ship. Zik had not seen Raylia since he was back in his teens, though the fact that she was the one that asked to see him was the only reason he agreed to come meet with her, and it was likely that she knew it. He slipped into the small study room and did not say a word for the moment, his face covered by a mask. His silver eyes peered through, and while they had a fire in them, there was also a somewhat weary look.*
It's been a while, Raylia...

Raylia rolled her eyes at the mask on his face, her nimble fingers closing the book in front of her. "It is not carnival, nor is this a fancy dress party. You're in a peaceful city, on a college campus with lax security and you're wearing a mask. You're actually drawing more attention to yourself than if you just walked in here, because now everyone will remember that a strange masked man walked into the library. Masks make people feel threatened. Take it off and put it away, let me see your face, Zik."
The blue master folded her hands in her lap, waiting patiently for him to comply with her request.

You know I have my reasons, but...*He reached up with both hand and pulled the mask off and his hood down. His face still held his sharp features, with a scar over his right cheek now.* Needless to say I was a bit surprised to hear from you, given that I told people not to look for me when I left. Expected that Adi would have been the one to ask me to come back. *He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall. Not to look for him was an understatement though. The message he had broadcast upon his departure from the order had been on the the threatening side.* But I imagine this is not a social visit. What is it you need, Raylia?

She smiled gently at him, crossing one leg over the other. The scar was much less noticeable than the silly hood and mask set. His early time among the Sith seemed to still color his personality but she was surprised that he believed Adi would be the one to reach out to him. "The Council of Knowledge was a long time ago. Adi is on the high council now, he is occupied. I am here about something else. Something a little more hands on. Something I think would be up your alley. The Shadows are tasked with covert missions to hunt down Sith artifacts, or Sith targets. They operate outside the official capacity of the Jedi Order for the betterment of the galaxy. It sounded like something tailor made for you."

Doesn't seem too far a cry from what I have been doing since I left. * Zik shifted a bit and let his arms fall to his sides. He turned his hands and pressed his palms flat against the wall before he pushed himself away and got closer to the table.* I know it's a bit off topic, but what were the casualty reports like by the time the Mandalorian attacks stopped? *Off topic as it seemed, Zik had his reasons to ask. In lieu of the holy war the Jedi had to fight off, and the speech to the Senate that Sinistra had given, he needed to know how bad of shape the Jedi were in before he could start to think on an answer.*

A cloud passed over her face as she took a bracing breath. She shook her head, her tchun creeping over her shoulder to drape around her neck. "We don't have all the figures yet. Taung's attacks on Carida and Sernpidal alone killed 32 million. We have missing Jedi everywhere. Ossus was sacked and destroyed. It's going to take some time before we know the true extent of the losses. The Jedi are hurting. Yavin and Ossus hit so soon after we just rebuilt the Coruscant temple after the Dark Tide attack."

*Zik suddenly felt his insides twist before putting his hands on the table to brace himself. There was a small look of terror playing in the dimming fire in his eyes as everything sunk in at once. His hands balled into fists, the unmistakable sound of straining servos coming from his right hand.* And I...Had I known it would be this bad... *He pushed off the table and almost stumbled back against the wall, sliding down to sit.* This isn't just "I think this would be a perfect fit for you" is it?

Raylia rose from her seat, crouching down in front of him. She reached over and pulled his chin up to look into her emerald green eyes. "There is absolutely nothing that you could have done that would have changed the tide of this war. Do not even entertain the thought. We cannot dwell on the what might have been. Be mindful of the present. These are still dangerous times and we have enemies who would prey on our weakened state." She laid her hands on her thighs to balance herself as she knelt, her lekku laying down her back. "I wouldn't read more into this than is there. I have been appointed to the Council of First Knowledge. The Shadows fall under their purview. You have been drifting, you have need of purpose and direction and something with less authority. This offers you a way to do what I know you would rather be doing."
She stood up from the floor, handing him a datastick. "After the Sith Empire fell on Korriban a couple years ago, our sources detected information that pointed to a small group of Sith who were trying to track down a journal that belonged to Palpatine that detailed some findings he made from the days of Sorzus Syn. We need you to find the journal first. We think it might have been stolen and made its way into the hands of an Imperial collector. We don't know who is banking rolling the Sith hunters, but our trail ended at Dromund Kaas."

*Zik looked into her eyes as she guided his chin. As he listening, his gaze hardened with resolve and he gave her a light smile before resting his head back against the wall.* You have barely changed since the last time I saw you...it's, heartwarming to say in the least. *There was a slight pause.* Very well, I will join the Shadows. I have a small contingent of men under my following now, mostly former Honoghrian military. When I find something worth sending back, they'll bring it in.
*As she handed Zik the datastick, he would pull out a datapad and start to review the data while she was going over the first mission. The mention of Dromund Kass was far from inspiring joy, but if he had objections, they didn't show in his face.* Right into the devils den huh? Am I to take out these Sith hunters as well or just retrieve the journal?

She smiled back at him, shrugging her shoulders slightly. "Well, that is comforting. Life has not been easy for me but I have done the best I could with what the Force has given me. That is all I can ask for." At the mention of his men, she shook her head, seriousness taking over once again. "I'm afraid you can't do that. You are being asked to become a Shadow. They are assassins, spies and thieves for the Jedi Order. You must be able to blend into your surroundings, to move undetected in a crowded city street, to slip in and out of places unseen and perform your missions without getting caught. If you are, the Jedi Order disavows all knowledge of your existence. You cannot accomplish this wearing masks or having an entourage of professional military operatives. I'm sorry, Zik."
Almost as if to illustrate her point, a security guard knocked on the door of the small study room. Raylia moved to the door and cracked it open a peep, looking out into the hallway. The man exchanged words with her quietly before she closed the door and turned back to him. "I would suggest you take your cloak off, stuff it in my bag, and along with that mask and walk out of here with me right now. You spooked quite a few people walking in the way you did."

You misunderstood what I meant. I never planned to have them follow me, but meeting them on say, a different planet, and sending them back to you with relics I find, means I could stay out in the field longer. If that's still not acceptable, that's fine. *Zik noted that she had not answered him about the Sith hunters, so he decided not to pursue an answer, choosing to trust his own judgement.
He stayed quiet when she went to the door and sighed a bit. Standing, he slipped his mask into her bag and looked down at what she called a cloak. Zik didn't often wear an actual cloak, it was more of a long jacket with a hood large enough to recess into. With another sigh, he undid the latches holding it closed and shrugged out of it, left standing in boots, trousers, and a sleeveless black shirt. Ready to go.

The pair walked out of the library and off campus through the city streets until they found a cafe. They took seats outside and she handed him the jacket and mask back, tucked in the folds of the cloth. "There you go. As for the other stuff, I would not trust others to bring in the things you will be asked to retrieve or destroy. You'll know where to take them. We have repositories all over the galaxy. That stick also has the name of a contact in the Shadows if you need supplies or resources."
They finished their afternoon tea, chitchatting for a little bit. Raylia had not seen Zik since she was married to Jen-Dai, which seemed like a lifetime ago to the blue skinned beauty. She was glad to hear that Zik had been with Adi. At least he had not fallen too far from the light. It did Raylia good to know that, at least. She looked off in the distance, reminiscing about the old Council of Knowledge on in the hills outside of Theed. So close and yet so far. "I should go. If you need anything, the university here has my contact information as does the University of Coruscant. Good luck, Zik."

*Zik seemed to relax as they continued talking, to the point of down right enjoying the short time they spent catching up. As she mentioned it being time to part ways, Zik stood and pulled his jacket back on, leaving the latches undone and the hood down. Before he walked off, he stopped and places a gentle hand on her shoulder.* I'm sorry about Jen...And it was good to see you Raylia. Try to remember to take it easy, and don't worry about me while I'm out there, yeah? *A grin crept across his face as he teased at how they were almost like family once. His hand would slip away almost reluctantly before he headed off.*

Kurayami had landed his D-5 awhile back in the spaceport on the outskirts of Theed. He had been walking along the familiar streets for sometime. It was nice to be home for the first time in ages. His lifestyle left much to be desired in the way of staying put for the most part. The ubiquitously armed and armored man was slow and thoughtful in his steps, the sound of his combat boots against the pavement resonated with a soft click. He had stopped for a bite to eat as he wandered back towards where he recalled the ruins of the Council of Knowledge being. However, he could tell that before he even rounded the corner something else had long ago taken the place of what was once his home. A small smile crept over his helmeted visage. It wasn't that he was saddened by the thought that it had been replaced as things progressed, rather his mind replayed many memories from his time there.
He stopped in the road and just let his mind wander over all those whom he had met and befriended during his time there.

She was coming out of a coffee shop, her blue fingers curled around the white cardboard cup as she dug into her satchel. She wanted to get back to the university to peruse the new collection of artifacts Dr. Halorii before he left for the day and her attention was not in front of her as she stepped off the curb and ran smack into a familiar face from her past. His armor was unmistakable, surely it wasn't the same plate as before but it could have been the same and she wouldn't have noticed. She was struck by him, he looked good, older yes, but he wore it well enough that a lump caught in her throat. For the moment it took to find her voice, she couldn't decide if it was the shock of running into him literally or the shock of seeing him after so long.
"Yami?"
