Bacta Tanks - Room 1
*Bacta tanks line three walls of the room, some occupied, some not. This is where the injured come to recover after surgery, or to treat minor/major injuries in the Red Dawn Medical Center. Staff mill about in their daily routines, keeping the patients as comfortable as they could be suspended in gel.
~Individual~ semi-hidden control panels are recessed, or set into, the wall by each of the bacta tanks in order to keep them out of the way of the medical staff while they tend to the patients. There is an island bank of larger computer control panels in the middle of the room, about 4 feet high, for controlling multiple batca tanks at one time. These panels, and holoscreens, are inset on a huge tabletop so the doctors and med droids can sit while they monitor the patients suspended in the bacta tanks.
There are also a few private rooms for more high profile patients, or for those patients who just want a little more privacy than the main room can afford. There's smaller semi-hidden control panels set into a small section of the walls in each of these rooms.*

OOC INFO: RP continued from HERE....----------------------------------------------------------------------------------While Lyssa had taken a detour to go check on one of her other patients, Jena, presumably with Jake and Lavi in tow, followed the hover gurney carrying Adelle to the bacta rooms. She had decided to place Adelle in tank in one of the private rooms so they could watch over her healing process more closely. Silently she added more notes to the young womans medical chart while the med droids lowered Adelle down into the healing fluid of the bacta.
Once they had Adelle ensconced within the tank, they made sure that the I.V. lines were still safely secured in her veins and that the oxygen mask was air tight against her face. Jena checked all the monitors to make sure Adelle was still in a stable condition, explaining everything she was doing as she went through the process so Jake could take notes if he wished. It was also decided that they would keep Adelle in the medical induced coma for at least a couple of days to help allow her to heal more effectively. Keeping her in the coma would prevent her from thrashing around and possibly causing the sutures to loosen, or even rip out of the wounds they had closed.
During the next few days, Jena and Lyssa would take turns, along with the assigned med droids, checking on Adelle and monitoring her health and how well she was healing. The question of the Devaronian Blood Poisoning was still a factor too, at least until it worked it's way out or was flushed out of the young womans system by the I.V's.. All in all Adelle seemed to be a fighter, even in unconsciousness, so both doctors had every confidence that she would pull through this ordeal. Hopefully she would be stronger mentally and physically for it. It also helped that Jake knew Adelle and Jena was hoping that he would be a calming presence for her while she was recuperating.
Knowing Jake must be a little worried and nervous at seeing Adelle in this condition, Jena turned to him with a soft smile of reassurance. "She's in a stable condition, which is a good thing. I think you being here will help her though. You'll be familiar to her, when she awakens, and I believe that will help. Do you have any questions so far?"

*Jake, his materials under one arm, had indeed caught up with Doctor Shaewe and stayed as close as possible to her and the hover gurney, though far enough back that he couldn't possibly be an obstruction of any kind. He stole any glances he could at Kory's form, at the scarring, bandaging, and various lines coming in and out of her. It wasn't a pretty sight, and again he could only be glad that it was him witnessing this all, not Morgan.
They reached a private bacta chamber, Jake looking around curiously. Morgan had been in a bacta tank too when she was here; was this the same kind of room, or possibly even the same room? Some definite irony if so... or fate, he supposed. Regardless, he soon lost interest in the room and regained interest in Kory, as she was moved into the tank. How he wished he could help... but he was too small and young to be of any help, so he merely watched.
Doctor Shaewe was also explaining the procedures, and he quickly remembered to take out his datapad once more to take notes; once again this was almost therapeutic for him, allowing him to keep his mind occupied and to learn while doing so. The procedure for placing a patient in the tank, suspension, what various controls on the machine did, it was all good knowledge. Occasionally he wondered what it felt like to be submerged like that, but he also didn't want to find himself in a position where he'd need to be submerged...
Finally, Kory seemed set, and Doctor Shaewe spoke to Jake with a smile. She assured him that Kory was in a stable condition, which was the best news, allowing him to exhale in relief. She then explained that his being here would be helpful for Kory, and his eyes widened; it would?! According to Doctor Shaewe, his presence would be familiar and helpful to Kory, and that made him feel very helpful and even a little important. That made him, like, Kory's hero, a little bit, didn't it?
Suddenly he blushed at that thought, but when Doctor Shaewe asked if he had any questions, he tried to shake it away as he stammered and then looked up at her.* So I should stay here? I mean it's okay! I don't mind. I guess this could be where I stay! Well, until Kory's out anyway. And I still have my stuff for studying, and if you need me or want to show me something, well, I don't mind leaving for a little bit. And I know how to find the cafeteria if I get hungry, so I'll be good, and I already have all my stuff! *He patted his bag, standing a little taller than before, seeming proud and willing to take on this important task. He wanted to be Kory's guardian and companion, especially if it was a task he could do so soon into his time here. If he could be useful, then he wanted to be useful.*

Jena smiled inwardly at Jakes blushing. She had a small inkling of a sense that he might be feeling a little determined because of what she'd said about his presence perhaps being a calming effect for Adelle. There was a certain sense of pride in his words when he replied, and the way he straightened up patting the bag at his side. Jena listened to his words and considered his idea of him staying in the room until Adelle regained consciousness. She looked from Adelles prone form floating in the healing liquid, then back at Jake with a thoughtful look on her face. She seemed to be mentally weighing the pros and cons of allowing Jake to stay in Adelle's room. Apparently the pros outweighed the cons as Jena spoke in a light tone.
"I see no reason why you can't stay here with her, Jake. I think it will be beneficial for both of you. For Adelle it may help her in her recovery to have someone she knows present when she wakes up....and for you it can be a valuable learning experience. Though I hadn't planned on just throwing you into this kind of situation this early, but I think you can handle it."
She gave him another reassuring smile before continuing. "Plus, between Dr. Ramaela and myself, one of us will be checking in one her every few hours for the next few days and the med droids will always be close by if an emergency arises. Though as long as she stays in her current stable condition, we don't expect any emergencies.
Also, you can talk to her. It's been known to help people in their recoveries if someone is there and trying to communicate with them. Just don't expect her to answer right away, not until the coma inducing medications start to wear off anyway."
She gave the monitors one last look then pocketed the data pad she'd been holding before turning back to Jake and placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Now you, young man....make sure you do, in fact, remember to eat. I don't want to have to explain to your father why you all of sudden started suffering from malnutrition. I'll be checking on you too, to make sure you're keeping yourself in good shape. You don't want to be in a tank right next to Adelle."
Dropping her hand from his small shoulder, she gave him a slight smile. She didn't want to scare Jake, as that wasn't her intention. She just wanted him to take care of himself, also, while he was watching over Adelle. Aerandir had entrusted her to look after Jake while he was on Honoghr and she wasn't going to let him down. That was why she had made a mental note to keep an eye on Jake, while he was keeping his vigil for Adelle, and to make sure he was eating like he should....

*Jake remained as tall and proud as he could after he made his proposal, though, as Doctor Shaewe seemed to take a few moments to respond, he started to shrink a little, growing nervous. Was it a stupid suggestion? Of course it was, he was just a little kid, what good would he do? She was going to say no, and he would understand, he had just gotten here after all, and he had learning and training he would get to. He couldn't spend his time here like that.
But instead, she spoke at last, saying she saw "no reason" he couldn't stay here. His eyes widened and he straightened again, pleasantly surprised. He started to smile in relief, but remembered the situation and halted that gesture, turning it into a bit of a grimace; he was glad to be of service, but it still wasn't really something to smile about. Doctor Shaewe believed it would be good for both him and Kory, that while she would have a familiar presence nearby to ease her consciousness, he would also be able to learn from this. He nodded enthusiastically, agreeing, and again when Doctor Shaewe, admitting she didn't expect to throw Jake into this sort of situation so soon, believed he could handle it.* You bet! *Doctor Shaewe went on to explain that she or the other doctor, Doctor Ramaela, would be in to check on her now and then, and there were meddroids too in case of an emergency, so that he wouldn't be here by himself, of course. Well... yeah. He knew that! He just... sorta didn't think about that. He grinned nervously, scratching the back of his head; that was quite the relief actually.
Doctor Shaewe then suggested that he could talk to Kory while she was under submersion. He furrowed his brows and tilted his head; he could? Did that make a lot of sense? Well, maybe... He wasn't going to question the doctor, and he supposed it made a little sense. But what did he even say? That was what couldn't come to him.
The topic shifted once more, as Doctor Shaewe put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a somewhat stern reminder to remember to eat. He almost jumped, stammering at the suggestion that he could end up malnourished and in a tank beside Kory. No way! He couldn't forget to eat, food was too good to forget about! He stammered again, then nodded quickly.* Y-yes ma'am! I won't forget! I like food...

Giving Jake a slight smile, she checked the monitors again and made some more notes in the datapad while giving the med droids some instructions. Once she was done with that, she turned to the boy again.
"Very good, Jake. I'm glad someone else around here likes food just as much as I do." She grinned teasingly at him as she pocketed the datapad before turning to leave the room. Before going, she cast him one last glance. "Either I, or Dr. Ramaela, will be back in a few hours to check on Adelle, until then you should try to get some rest too. The droids, and the monitors, will let us know if there's any changes in her condition." Flashing one last reassuring smile at him, she walked out of the room to go tend to some of her other patients on the same floor.

*Jake laughed a little when Doctor Shaewe said she was glad he enjoyed food as much as she did. Well, he hadn't exactly gotten the impression that she was a big food enthusiast, and he didn't feel like he gave that impression either, so it must have just been a joke. He did like food though...
Finally, she announced again that either she or Doctor Ramaela would be here in a few hours to check up on them, then suggested Jake get some rest for now. He looked towards the droids she indicated, nodding, glad his task was simple, then, when she flashed him a smile and left, Jake smiled back at her and nodded.* Right. Got it! See you soon! *And now it was just him him, Kory, and the droids. This would be great then, Jake would be able to provide a calm and familiar presence for Kory, and possibly help ease her mind and healing process. But when he turned to look at her again, he was suddenly overcome with a sense of unease. Her barely-clothed, scarred, unconscious form just dangling in an illuminated tube of liquid was... kind of unsettling honestly. Yes, he knew she was alive and that she was in stable condition, but it was still a little odd.
But he had his job to do, so he only shifted his bag on his shoulder, stood up taller, and took a step closer toward the tank, inhaling a deep breath before releasing it.* It's okay, Kory. You'll be better in no time! I'm here to help! ... somehow, I guess... And don't worry, I won't tell Morgie you're here until you're better, so she doesn't get worried. *There, that was a start, wasn't it? He looked around towards one of the beds, then approached it. He set his bag on top first, then climbed up onto it. Sitting upon the edge, he reached into his bag and pulled out his own personal datapad and turned it on. He then made a call for home, figuring a report couldn't hurt, and waited for a connection attempt to establish. Finally, one was made, and the smiling visage of his dad appeared on screen.* Hey, Jake, how's everything going so far? *Jake smiled back at him somewhat excitedly.* Great! Er, well, for me. I uh, met Doctor Shaewe, and she's gonna teach me and gave me some stuff to read, but... *He frowned a little, glancing toward Kory again, then back down at his dad's image on the datapad.* ... is Morgan there? *Looking concerned at his son's sudden change in tone, his dad shook his head.* No, do you need her? *That was actually a relief, and he shook his own head.* No, cuz... well, please don't tell her, but... Kory's here. She got hurt really badly, and Doctor Shaewe helped take care of her and she's in a bacta tank now but... I don't want Morgan to get worried. *His dad seemed a little surprised at this information, but then he smiled and nodded.* That's very thoughtful of you. What happened to her? *Jake was relieved that his dad agreed, though bit his lip when he asked what happened to her.* I'm not sure... She was in some suit of armor, and when they got it off, she was all beat up and bloody, and... it's not good. *He looked aside again, then returned his gaze to his father, trying to smile a little.* It's okay though, I'm here with her, I said I'd stay here with her, and they said it would be a good idea, since she knew me, and I might be able to help keep her calm. *He then grimaced a little, looking away from his datapad shyly.* It's a little creepy though... *When he heard his dad laugh softly, Jake looked back towards his face on the screen as his dad replied.* Well, that's also very kind of you. Don't worry about it, Jake, she'll be fine. I... felt the same when I was there with Morgan after her scar smoothing surgery, but try not to let it bother you. There anything you might need? *Jake hadn't thought about that, considering that surgery happened before he met Morgan. And hadn't her body also been floating in a bacta tank for some time after the Psallo attack? That must have made it even more painful. Jake tried to take that information into account to relax and realize that he had it easy, then smiled and shook his head at his dad's request.* No Dad, I'm good, thanks. *His dad smiled and nodded.* Alright then. Take care, son, call back any time. Love you. *Jake smild and nodded back.* Love you too! *As the connection closed, Jake looked at Kory's form once more. She'd be okay, and he'd be okay. Yes, it still made him a bit uncomfortable, but he'd get used to it, and Kory would be back in shape in no time! For now, he simply curled up on the bed, attempting to get some much-needed rest. It had been quite the busy first day...*

True to her word, Jena came back a few hours later to check on Adelle and found Jake asleep in one of the beds. Smiling to herself, she quietly walked over to the bed and pulled a light blanket up over Jakes sleeping form then moved over to the bacta tank where Adelle was submerged in the healing liquid. She looked up to the monitors as saw there was still no change in Adelles condition. She was still stable.
After checking the I.V. lines running into the injured womans arms, and checking the latest blood tests to assess the progression of the Devaronian Blood Poisoning, she was pleased to see that the poison was working it's way out of the womans system with little to no physical complications - yet. Of course it helped that Adelle was still in the induced coma and Jena knew they would know more about the lasting effects of the poisoning when Adelle awakened. Taking the datapad out of the plastiod slot on the side of the bacta tank, she updated Adelle's medical file with the latest information then placed it back in it's resting place. Casting one last glance over to the slumbering Jake, she chuckled to herself then left the room as quietly as she had entered.

Three days had gone by without change. The monitors showed her vital signs were stable. The last of the Devaronian Blood poison had been flushed out of her system according to the equipment. Still, she slept. Amid the quiet hum of equipment and the beeping monitors, Adelle floated in the bacta tank.
Fire.
Her fingers twitched. One of the monitors recorded an increase in heart rate.
Her mother's face melting off her skull.
Her eyelids fluttered. Through the black, she heard distant screams that faded to the ringing in her ears and the muted pounding of her own heartbeat. She could feel nothing, see nothing. Slowly, she forced her eyes open. Bacta stung her eyes and blurred her vision. Flailing, she tried to look for the way out. Thick glass met her hands on one half of a cylinder, metal on the other. Trapped. Adelle felt her heart racing. Impossible. She'd escaped this trap already. He couldn't have her here again. She already did this! Adelle thrashed and for the first time noticed something clamped down over her mouth. The mask. The suit. He still had her in his control. Adelle clawed at the edges of the oxygen mask, trying to fight through the panic that flooded her. He'd almost drowned her once. She wasn't going to suffer that again. Between attempts to claw the mask off, she slammed her fists against the glass tube. She had to get out.

*And so Jake had remained stationed at his "post," so to speak, keeping an eye on Kory, sometimes trying to talk to her or do his best to send calming waves or thoughts to her, unsure how successful he was each time. He of course did not keep himself confined to this room every hour of every day, he would still leave at times to eat, or talk to Doctor Shaewe, or do research in her library and take notes. Often he would review Kory's own surgery and injuries, though so much of it was so advanced that he couldn't really grasp all of it.
Sometimes, in the bacta tank room, he would hold the datapad with the list of her injuries before him, trying to see if he could locate them on her limp form post-surgery. This would last for all of a few moments before he suddenly felt rude for looking at her so closely, especially in her current state, regardless of medical studies and honest intentions. He would then blush and look away after apologizing aloud, then find something else to occupy his time with.
When he slept, it hadn't been for as long as he normally might sleep; as much as he adored Kory and wanted to see her recover speedily, this latter fact made him unable to sleep too peacefully. As well as the fact that, well, it was honestly quite unsettling in some ways to be sharing a room with a suspended body that couldn't respond or react to anything at the moment. A little creepy... but he supposed this was far better than the state she had been in when she was brought in to the facility...
Fortunately, when he dreamed, the dreams weren't unpleasant. Actually, they weren't even coherent; not that dreams usually were, but there were hardly any clear images, always blurry... Usually when he did make out images, it was of people he knew... Only once did a dream unsettle him, and it was when he saw Kory on the operating table, injuries fresh again. But when he awoke to see Kory in better shape, healing in the tank, he was able to relax.
It was while he now slept that he thought he heard faint thudding. Something in the dream? Was he about to have a dream that actually— Well, not made sense, but he could make out what was happening? But it sounded distant somehow... What little blurry vision he had faded, only to be replaced with... well, more blurry vision, but the kind one had when just waking up. And the thudding was louder. And... panicked emotions in the air? Jake's eyes widened, vision clearing as he shot up and looked around, first to K—* Aah! *Kory was awake, but she wasn't simply there looking patient, she was frantically trying to free herself. Normal people didn't act like that when they woke up to find themselves in a bacta tank... Wait, he knew this reaction. He'd heard of something, posttraumatic something or another... Flashbacks of a traumatic event where one would feel as though they were reliving that event, and reacting appropriately.
He knew, because Morgan had it.
Jake hopped off the bed; he had to calm her down! No, he had to call Doctor Shaewe! ... he had to do both! Quickly he ran to the intercom system, making a page for Doctor Shaewe or "anybody" to come help Kory, who was awake and panicking. This message made, he then ran toward the bacta tank. Then stopped a few feet away, watching with wide, fearful eyes. What if she actually could break out? He was in danger of glass shards if that happened! But... but he had to try!* Kory! *He set his face to a determined expression, though unable to completely hide his own panic, and ran up to the tank, placing his own hands on it.* I-it's okay! You're safe! Really! You're just in a hospital! The doctors will let you out! *Calming waves... he did his best to channel some to the woman. It was a lot easier with Morgan, her being his twin and all, but he'd been there to console and calm her too during her own flashbacks; he had to do his best here now, for Kory too!* It's me! Jake! Morgan's brother! You'll be fine! *By the Force, he sure hoped this helped her calm down, and he hoped the doctors got here fast...*

Jena had been walking down the hallway to check on Adelle when she heard Jake's frantic call over the hospitals P.A. system. Hearing the urgency in the boys voice, and sensing the panic in Adelle's awakening mind, she quickened her steps to the room. Rushing through the door she saw that Jake was standing in front of the bacta tank, with his hands on the thick glass, trying to calm Adelle down. Moving over to the tank, she eyed the monitors above and beside the tank as she quietly sent out calming waves of Force toward Adelle while noting that the womans vitals were rising with her panic.
The woman seemed to be awake but having some sort of PTSD episode, which made Jena wonder if she was reliving the event that had brought her here to the RDMC in the first place. After a very short conversation with a med droid she leaned over Jake and placed her hands on the glass above his and continued to send the calming waves of Force to Adelle while the droid prepared to remove her from the healing liquid. Glancing down to Jake briefly, Jena smiled slightly, encouraging him to continue his efforts in the Force also. Moving her gaze back to Adelle, she spoke in a steady soothing, almost hypnotic, tone.
"Adelle, can you hear me? I'm Dr. Jena Shaewe. I'm here to help you, but you need to relax and focus. Can you do that for me?"

Through the blur of bacta stinging her eyes, Adelle saw hands press up against the curved glass of the tank. Calm and panic flowed over her in equal waves as the person tried talking to her, thick glass and bacta distorting the words. Another set of hands flattened against the glass, accompanied by more powerful waves of calm. Wait. This wasn't right. She felt herself calm despite everything in her brain telling her to fight. It couldn't have been drugs. For all his scheming, Sol couldn't drug her. Not this time. She panted and breathed in some of the bacta. The mask had been knocked loose, allowing some of the liquid to fill the space. Wait. That was impossible. As many times as she had tried to take the mask off, it couldn't be done. Not without unlocking the whole armor. Wait. Bacta. An oxygen mask. Wait. Calm. Hands. Hospital. She was in a hospital. What?
Adelle lifted a shaking hand to the side of the tank to stabilize herself and used the other to press the mask flush against her face. Hospital. Safe. Taken care of. She started crying out of pure relief as a medical droid pulled her out of the tank. Cold air blasted her face as she was lifted out. Her bare feet slipped on the cold floor. She shivered in the tank top and shorts, drenched and probably looking like a drowned rat. But she was alive. A towel was put around her shoulders. No armor, no voice in her head, no screams. A doctor and Jake stood in front of her. Adelle tried to find words; to apologize, to thank them. Her voice was still raw and hoarse from the weeks before and the hell she'd been though. Her tongue felt like marble, thick and heavy. Words did not come easily but the tears did and she bawled in front of them.
Alive.

*Jake continued his attempts at calming Kory down, sending soothing waves that may or may not have even been potent enough. To be honest, he wasn't entirely sure they were working, but he wasn't going to give up! Fortunately, it had taken no time for Doctor Shaewe to show up, and he looked upon her with a relieved and pleading expression. She was already checking the monitors and conversing with a meddroid, no doubt to prepare Kory for removal from the tank. Then she leaned over him to help send calming waves toward Kory, along with a soothing... very soothing voice... Jake himself felt a little calmer now, not just because the doctor was here to help, but also due to the voice... And her smile managed to ease him a little as well, allowing himself to smile a little as well.
Finally, Kory seemed to be calming down. The droid assisted her removal from the tank, and she seemed to struggle to stand a little, as well as seeming cold. Jake quickly fetched a towel for her, though he couldn't really reach her shoulders, so he handed it off to be placed around her shoulders. Kory looked at them, and it seemed like perhaps she was going to say something. Words never came... but tears did. Jake's eyes widened, and he hesitated, unsure what to do... then he ran to her side and gently hugged her around the waist, uncaring about the bacta she was still drenched in.* I'm so glad you're awake, Kory... are you okay? *... it occurred to him that he wasn't entirely sure if Kory was comfortable right now in this particular situation, being half-dressed, soaking, just awakened from a minor coma with a flashback of all things... and hugged by a young boy. He blushed a little, but didn't release her yet, looking up at her first.* Er... should I let go? S-sorry if you didn't want me to hug you right now...

Jena, and Jake, continued to send calming waves of Force toward Adelle as the young woman continued to struggle for a moment or two, gulping in a bit of the bacta, before seemingly realizing that she was safe. She placed one hand against the inside of the tank to steady herself, and with the other hand she pressed the oxygen mask more securely against her face. Jena breathed a small sigh of relief as Adelle settled down enough to allow the med droids to remove her from the tank. Once the droids had Adelle on the floor outside of the tank, Jena quickly moved to her side to help steady her when she slipped. Jake had fetched a towel for the med droid to put around Adelle's shoulders then hesitated momentarily before he gently wrapped his arms around her waist hugging her and talking to her.
Jena stood back silently, letting Jake have his moment, while she noted that most Adelle's wounds had healed sufficiently enough that all they would need to do is apply a few bacta patches to complete the healing process. Though the young woman may have some scarring, Jena was pleased with the overall appearance of the wounds she could see. Once the bacta was washed away she would examine the other wounds to assess the degree of healing on those also....

Force, it was good to feel. The armor and suit she'd been forced to wear had been a prison. Couldn't feel, taste, hear, smell; only watch as people she had known and people that had tried to help her had died horrible deaths; only hear their screams and Sy's voice commanding her, taunting her; only feel the pain of his punishments, the electricity when she tried to free herself. She was cold, yes. Tired, weak, emotionally exhausted, yes. Jake's embrace felt weirdly warm against her. His hand against her left waist felt weirdly light and painful, as if the muscles there remembered a much stronger pain that no longer existed.
A silent sob lodged in the back of her throat. Adelle blinked, trying to stem the fresh flood of tears. She stepped back, out of reach of Jake, and curled her arms around her. Her shoulders hunched over and she turned away from him slightly, shaking her head. She didn't want to talk about it—couldn't talk about it. Not now. Too soon. It was far too soon to talk about things. All she wanted was to curl up and forget what had happened. At least for a while. She looked at the doctor, wondering if she'd be shown to another room now that the bacta tank wasn't needed. Hopefully it'd be warmer.

*There was so much Jake could feel through the Force from Kory, and little of it was good. Then Kory suddenly backed out of Jake's arms, turning away slightly as she huddled into herself and shook her head. What would Morgan do in this situation? Probably not leave her side and refuse to be let go of. But Morgan and Kory were far closer than Jake and Kory, and Jake understood boundaries. He was a little saddened Kory had retreated from him, but only because he had wanted to feel helpful and capable of cheering up the woman; he was incapable of hiding a saddened frown, however. Kory then looked at Doctor Shaewe wordlessly, Jake looking toward her as well, plea in his green eyes. The lack of words from Kory was... startling, to say the word, but... but things would get better! And if anyone knew how to make her feel better, it was a doctor! Right?*

When Adelle stepped back out of Jake's embrace, Jena was beside her once more to aid in case she slipped again. She took note of the fact that Adelle hadn't answered Jake when he asked if she was okay and wondered if it was because the young woman didn't want to answer, or if she couldn't answer. Adelles apparent shivering was seemingly getting worse also, and this worried Jena a little bit. Motioning the med droid over, she requested that a robe be brought for Adelle to wrap herself in. When the droid returned a moment or two later, Jena took the robe from it and gently placed it around Adelle's shoulders.
"This should warm you up a bit for now. Do you think you'll be up for a nice hot shower in a few minutes? It may help to warm you up faster and then we can get you into a nice clean bed and see how well you're other injuries have healed up." She gave Adelle a soft encouraging smile before looking to Jake and thanking him for being there for Adelle and for contacting her so quickly when the young woman awoke.

Adelle pushed her arms through the sleeves and wrapped the robe tightly around her. She ached all over, with what felt like an impossible hole in her chest. Her throat throbbed from holding back sobs and trying to speak. She nodded, unable to make a sound. She couldn't talk. Not yet. Not right now. She was so tired. So cold. So empty. And maybe with any luck, the nightmares would leave her alone this time.

Jena could see that Adelle was fighting to hold back the sobs as she nodded in answer to Jena's question of taking a shower, but remained silent on the matter. Now was not the time to try to get the woman to let go of her emotions and just cry. She would do that in her own time and in her own way, Jena mused to herself. When Adelle was ready Jena would help her to the bathroom for her shower, and a med droid would be in the room with her should she need any help. Once the task was completed then Jena would thoroughly check all of her remaining wounds that the bacta hadn't had time to completely heal up yet.

The doctor half-led, half-supported Adelle as they made their way to a white tiled room with multiple shower stalls. An aisle of thin carpet cut the room in half, presumably to keep people from slipping as they walked in or out, and every stall had bars to hang onto. Adelle slipped from the doctor's supporting arm and stiffly walked further into the room. She heard the woman quietly give instructions to a med-droid. There were soft footfalls and the gentle swoosh of the door. All that was left was the murmur of the med-droid's inner workings. Adelle stepped into a stall and pushed a button on the pad in the wall. A cold spray of water hissed from the shower head, instantly soaking her and her hospital clothes. It sent a shock through her body and mind, stirring it out of the numbness she felt. Adelle found the temperature controls and quickly adjusted the heat, sending it to as hot as she could stand it. The water burned as it pelted her skin, the white tank and shorts tossed aside, but the pain felt good. Unlike before. She let the water run down her neck, over her chest, streaming over skin that hadn't felt, hadn't breathed in what felt like an eternity ago.
Water. She couldn't remember much, but Arnelos had shared this memory with her. He had taught her to listen to the Force, to feel it, to see it as something familiar and ever-changing. Alive. For him, it had been the wind. And for her, she learned to see it as the one thing that she found serenity in. Rivulets of hot water ran down her scalp and into her eyes as she bowed her head, letting the flow baptize her neck and rush over her back. The Caamasi. Her master. And something else. He never told her who he was, how he was connected to her family and knew them better than she could ever know. She could still see him.
Fire.
He lay right in front of her. Half-lidded eyes. Matted fur. He choked, coughed, wheezed. Trying to breathe.
Blood. Wires.
Trying to live.
"Run . . . long enough . . . for you to escape . . ."
And the timer still counted down.
"Leave me!"
And she ran. The fire spread. The building began to crumble. Support beams bent with the heat. Adelle tilted her head up to let the scalding water soak her eyes. To keep the pain and the tears from spilling over. She gave a shuddering gasp as she fought. He'd told her to run. To leave him behind. But couldn't she have saved him? Had his death really been necessary for her to live? What if there'd been a way and she missed it? What if— Adelle breathed harder to fight the spike of pain she felt in her chest. She still felt the blast, the shockwave that sent her stumbling. The heat of the explosion and the blaze that started engulfing the surrounding area of the old chemical factory. Surely, there'd been some other way. Surely she could have saved him.
Adelle mashed the water's temperature controls, sending the heat a few degrees higher. She stared at the pale scars that marked her injuries from Coruscant. Small circles from where the armor had locked into her skin. Long thin lines where she'd been cut. Thick knots in her left side. Adelle rested a forearm on the tiled wall while the fingers of her free hand gently ran over the scars.
An uppercut. Blades digging deep inside her. Blinding pain.
Water ran down her sides as she heaved a deep breath in. A copper taste still lingered on her tongue and bile burned the back of her throat. The white tiled wall blacked out in front of her. Breathe. Shaking, Adelle straightened and brought her mind back to the present. She still felt the blades of claw-like weapon pierce her skin. She curled her fingers into a fist, the knuckles turning white even though her skin was flushed with heat. But even that pain was bearable. Adelle turned in the shower and placed her hands on the walls on either side. Her right hand splayed perfectly, the bones aligned, the knuckles whole. That same hand had hammered at a transparisteel box, pounding the fist until knuckles and bones broke. Adelle shuddered. A cry like a scream and a sob stuck in her throat and made it raw.
Her mother trapped. A datapad counting down the seconds, mili-seconds.
The first sob choked out, a hoarse and sickly sound.
Smooth glass. Kneeling by the cage in defeat. Her mother calm even as the timer hit twenty seconds.
Salty tears mixed with streams of water. Adelle closed her eyes as the water ran through her plastered hair and over her face.
Ten seconds. Her mother looking her in the eyes. Mouthing words she could never hear.
Adelle hung her head, ropes of dark hair hiding her face as she cried. She would always hear those screams.
