She smiled, but said nothing. Instead, she laid the thick blanket out for them and placed the hamper she'd been carrying on top of it. Honestly, she could have made the small pack even smaller probably. Oh well, it was too late for that now. She surreptitiously watched the Zabrak as he was busy communicating with one of the many arms of his empire, maybe even with family.
When he looked up, she inquired, "Anything important happening?" she already suspected it was, since he'd dealt with it openly in her presence. She sat down and pulled her knees up, wrapping her arms around them as she leaned her chin on top and eyed him curiously.

Sitting down immediately behind her, Z'har wrapped his arms around her shoulders & pulled her gently into his chest.
-Z'har Nothing more so that right here. I was just getting something out of the way that I had decided.
Z'har had planned to use this time for them to cover more of their own personal history. But now that they were together in private, he was having difficulty deciding which part of his life he open with. Or failing that, how to get Jade to open up about something new.

"Ah, what is it?" she asked as she leaned back into him gladly enough. He always felt strong to her. He always seemed to exude a sense of power. And she was comfortable with it. Realizing that to be the truth still was something of a surprise as far as she was concerned. She could tell he wanted to talk about something, but she wasn't sure how to help open the subject.
So, she shifted a bit and turned her head just enough to brush a kiss against the edge of his jaw. "What are you thinking of, Z'har?" she paused, "I like this place. Corellia reminds me of my childhood. Perhaps too much," she trailed off musingly.

If that wasn't a nearly perfect invitation, Z'har didn't know what would be.
-Z'har I would like it if I could hear more about your childhood. What was it like?
Z'har was pretty sure based on past discussions that Jade had grown up in some sort of noble family. It was somewhat odd to think. As children, he had nothing & she had probably had a world of things to choose from. Now, he had entire sectors that bowed to his whim, though he had just passed much of that power onward, & she was a Jedi, though an admittedly very high-ranking one. Yet, in a real real way, both still considered themselves outcasts.

She shrugged, "It was a good one, I suppose," smiling faintly as she continued, "I never wanted for any of the necessities of life due to the status of my House. Contrary to what one might think though, children are not coddled on my world. Military training is begun around four or five years by older family members, often a blademaster that has been with the family for decades." She settled herself comfortably into Z'har's embrace while reminiscing, "The same training is given to both genders, although eventually one can choose different focuses. However, a stint of service in the military is required, and usually at least one family member makes military service their career. Much like other cultures we had our own rites of passage, and our odd pets---mine had four inch fangs and an unpredictable temper." Jade laughed quietly, "That might be why I accepted Selaya so quickly."

-Z'har I have noticed your attraction to powerful & dangerous things. Though, I can't fault you that trait.
Z'har smiled, despite the fact that Jade would only see the edge of the smile from where she sat.

"Like yourself, you mean?" she challenged, twisting to face him and then pinning him to the ground so she was propped on his chest by one elbow looking down at him with a smile on her face.
She shrugged, "I suppose you are right. I assume I took part in normal childhood games, but I don't really remember," she frowned, there were gaps in her memory, but unfortunately they didn't seem to involve the things she would prefer not to remember, "Joining the Imperial Fleet was a highlight for me, and being promoted to captain my own ship is one of my best memories. I think it is always like that when you have a commander you are proud of. Being able to succeed and knowing that you've performed above expectation is a good feeling. My first ship was ugly on the outside, on the ground it made one wonder if he could even fly...but in the air, he was breathtaking." She paused, then leaned down and quickly kissed her disadvantaged companion warmly.

Z'har couldn't help but laugh as the much smaller woman 'pinned' him.
-Z'har I am familiar with the type of ship you are talking about, if not the exact model. The first ship I ever owned was a garbage scow. I don't mean that figuratively either, it was a converted garbage scow. However, I had that ship for most of a decade. Before I finally lost it, it could run rings around a 2 out of five fighters straight off the assembly line. It got caught in a micro-meteor storm. The damage was bad enough that not even my best contacts could salvage it.

The small woman laughed at the idea of Z'har in charge of a garbage scow. She wondered if he was meaning that was also his occupation. She had to admit that his current outfit was much more attractive than that of an itinerant rubbish collector. "Aye... so, what about your childhood? I have never met 'little Z'har,' she questioned in turn.

The mood was rather light as the moment, & z'har didn't wan to change that. That meant he would be skimming certain parts of his early story, though Jade had heard some of those parts before.
-Z'har I doubt I could even have been considered little. Well, my parents were farmers on a agriworld. This more or less meant that we spent most of our time fixing up the various farming droids & equipment we used. After that, I was pledged to a small group of merchant ships that traveled around & traded at each stop. It was often hard work, but it is one of the reason I am as comfortable with as many cultures as I am. They are the ones I bought the garbage scow from when I eventually went my own way.

"Ah, you bought it," Jade repeated, gently running her fingers down the side of his face and neck, "so there was no dashing game of chance... and from there you took over the galaxy." She smiled, lightly teasing him, as she reached up to pull her hair over one shoulder as the breeze was wreaking havoc upon the knot it had been tied in originally.

-Z'har Why risk a chance when you can just take what you want?
Z'har's smile made it obvious that he knew his current situation was evidence to the contrary.
-Z'har Anyway, I didn't immediately set out to conquer the universe. That wasn't until after I joined the Mandos.

"And the Mando'ade gave you a family again, didn't they?" she asked gently, "in some way easing the pain of what you had lost," she remembered all too well the look of pain in his eyes and the shock she'd felt at seeing such a strong man made so vulnerable in front of her when they had fought all those years ago on Galantos.

Z'har slowly runs his fingers through Jade's hair carefully working out any knots the breeze made.
-Z'har I had found a family before I joined the Mandos. I had found Plu, who would later be my clan head. In a way he is the one that set me on the path to wealth & power.

"Plu Ordinii," Jade mused, "a decent individual in a galaxy that is largely indecent." After a few minutes, and a rather startling yank as he attempted to untangle her hair, she wriggled back to a sitting position and reached for the pack she'd brought with them. Rummaging through it, she came up with a bottle of amber Corellian ale and a pair of glasses. "Thirsty?"

Despite the fact that he was physically incapable of feeling thirst, Z'har still accepted the offered glass.
-Z'har Let's see. What would be an appropriate toast to start the bottle?
Z'har raises his still empty glass, tilting it slightly toward Jade so she could fill it more easily.
-Z'har To old & absent friends. May they live unquenched & have more children than the sky has stars.

She unwrapped the top and the cork shot out into the air with great force accompanied by a sound that rivaled a blastershot. A mischievous smile flashed across her lips as she filled Z'har's glass and then her own. She raised her glass and eyed him over the top of the rim.
"That's a prodigious amount of children..."

-Z'har I'm pretty sure that includes grand-children & such to lessen the immediate number. Of course, that still requires a large amount of, let's call it effort.
Taking a sip of the golden liquid, Z'har smiles over the rim of his glass at his companion.

Jade froze for a second, wondering what he was getting at, and then did as she normally would and went on the offensive. "Effort? And what has children on your mind, Z'har? This deciding who will succeed you?" she queried, flashing a responding smile at him before taking a drink and savoring the initial coolness followed by the fiery burn that was Corellian Ale.

Z'har really shouldn't be surprised, but it always amused him how transparent he was to Jade.
-Z'har As a matter of fact, yes. I figured that Aya would be the better choice of the two as Marcos is still hiding off somewhere.
