Johun nods and smiles throughout Brielle's answer. She had been well educated on the history of the Order. Her uncle certainly gave her an edge over most students when they came here.
Very good. A broad answer for a broad question. What is means to be a Jedi is both universal in some senses, but also deeply personal in others.
Johun clasped his hands in the small of his back.
What abilities or skills have you learned in regards to using the Force?

Brielle nods when Knight Starfield replies to her answer to his question in a way suggesting to her that she demonstrated an adequate understanding of the subject, and then tilts her head to the side in a reflective manner when he asks his next question, requiring that she explain any skills she has acquired during the course of her training thus far.
Hmmm . . . well, my uncle thought it best to focus my training only on the most basic skills, those that are really more instinctive than anything. The primary focus of my training was on the area of control, to deepen my understanding of how to connect with the Force on a more active than passive level. We worked a great deal on the art of movement, learning to use the Force to enhance my reflexes, agility, and speed.
We also worked some on the sense area, mostly on telepathy, but also on basic skills like being attuned to the Force around us at all times on some level, so that we can be better aware of threats or danger, or other subtle promptings from the Force.
Oh, and I have become reasonably proficient with telekinesis. I guess that is not a very impressive sounding list is it? My uncle and I thought it best to leave any more advanced training to the academy's instructors and to my Master if I was ever chosen as a padawan.
Johun will be able to feel the faint sense of anxiety resurface in Brielle's emotional state as she speaks about the possibility of her being selected by a Master, for she cannot help but think of the reasons, at least in her mind, that a Jedi would be hesitant to take her on as a padawan.

Johun nods as he listens.
All great places to start, and wise decision by your uncle.
Johun could feel her apprehension and nervousness. He remembered feeling similarly when he started.
I am not sure if any of the Masters are currently at the Academy. I would be happy to assist you, until a more formal decision has been made.

Brielle smiles in elation when Knight Starfield says that he would be willing to help her in continuing her training until a more official decision is made about her becoming an initiate.
You would? That would be . . .
Brielle's joy fades visibly, her shoulders slumping as she realizes that it would be unfair to accept Knight Starfield's offer when she has not told him everything that he should know about her. The Masters that Johun spoke of, naturally, would need to know about her heritage before making any decisions about whether or not to admit her to the academy as well, but Brielle feels that knowing of it could very well make Johun reconsider his offer, and so she cannot in good conscience keep it from him.
I think there is something you, and the Masters of course, should know before we go any further, Knight Starfield. I probably should have told you earlier, when you asked me to tell you about myself, but . . . shaking her head, realizing that there is little point in explaining her reticence when the reasons for it well be clear soon enough, Brielle takes a deep breath and steels herself for the repulsion and rejection she knows may very well result from what she is about to say before continuing. The investigation my uncle was conducting when he found me? He was tracking an Anzat that had been killing Force sensitives . . . feeding on their life essence. The Anzat was very, very old, and had become . . . unstable, making enough careless mistakes that my uncle was able to find her, and . . . he killed her when she gave him no other choice. That Anzat . . . was my mother.
Brielle lowers her head dejectedly as she finishes speaking, as though anticipating being asked to leave and never return. Her disgust about what she is, or rather what she has the potential to be by virtue of having been born an Anzat, had been evident when she spoke, and there is also fear in her emotions; fear that her nature will prove more powerful than her fervent desire, also clear in her thoughts and emotions, to overcome it in order to become a Jedi.

I see.
An Anzati. Johun had only read about them, never met one. They were considered potentially dangerous to Force sensitives. Johun knew better than to assume that just because of ones heritage/lineage was of a certain type that it meant what their future held.
This is a classic nature versus nurture. You have concerns about how your lineage can/will effect you. I cannot tell you what your future holds, but the Jedi can provide you the tools to choose your own path.

Brielle keeps her eyes on the ground when Johun says that he has understood what she has revealed to him, waiting for his next words to be either a retraction of his offer or an outright dismissal from his presence and the academy grounds. Her surprise and relief are plain to see when, instead, Johun's next words demonstrate that he has not only understood the nature of her fears about what her heritage could mean, but also her hopes, and belief, that training to become a Jedi could help give her the strength to remain firm in her resolve to avoid the fates of other Anzati that thought they too could do so.
I truly believe that to be true, Knight Starfield, Brielle says, looking up into his eyes with an expression both grateful and filled with respect for how he handled her confession to him about her heritage. With a tentative smile, as though not quite yet able to believe that she has not been banished, Brielle asks, Assuming your offer still stands, where do we begin?

Nodding when Johun motions for her to follow as he enters the academy after explaining that they will be going to the meditation gardens, Brielle takes a deep breath and steps through the main doors after a brief pause to take in the fact that she has accepted into the academy, if only on a provisional basis until the Masters Knight Starfield mention approve of her becoming an initiate.
Doing her best to memorize the route Johun takes so that she can begin familiarizing herself with the academy layout, Brielle follows him as he leads the way to the meditation gardens.

Continued from TerrainKy Rynn sat in the cock pit of the Firespray and waited for Sabina Gaultieri to come. He stretched out his hand and pointed to an empty seat normally reserved for the copilot. The seat had seen better days. It looked like it had been scorched by blaster fire at one point, and the padded seat had odd, dark stains. Unlike the rest of the ship, the cockpit was kept in incredible condition. Everything inside was clean and well-cared for. There was not a speck of dust in the cock pit, and the room smelled fresh.
"Don't touch anything. Now start from the beginning. Exactly who and what are you? Why did you set my house on fire?" He asked Advika while he piloted the ship towards the Jedi Academy grounds. The ship was flying through the terrain in the planet's lower atmosphere. He was not familiar with this particular Order but knew of its existence. He himself had trained at another Order on the other side of the galaxy. If the situation was different, he would have taken Advika off to Ossus or elsewhere. But he was uncertain if his ship would be able to tolerate the journey off-world. "Let me make it clear to you. That friend of yours who's now dead in my backyard will never hunt you again. But that's not going to stop others like him from doing the same. I'm going to bring you to a place. Somewhere that will keep you safe. I won't be able to protect you all the time. The best way to protect yourself is for you to learn how to protect yourself. I would bring you home if I could. But it will only be a matter of time before those hunters, and more of them will come after you again. Once they know who you are, they will hunt you to the end of the galaxy until you're dead. Their kind will slaughter whole families and burn villages to the ground looking for people like you. They'll do it for sport. Sending you home will only put everyone there in danger, assuming they're still alive." The topic was grim, but he had seen what Darksiders like Kwame could do. The goat happily trotted all over the cabin before it jumped up onto one of the seats and sat there like a person. Ky Rynn let out an exasperated sigh. He had forgotten all about the goat who seemed all too happy to come along for the adventure. He reached back and gave the goat a friendly head pat."Of course, you somehow survived."

Advika hadn't been sure whether or not the tall guy that saved from the hulking alien thing that had abducted her from Doaba Guerfel had been talking to her or her goat, which she has named Kaponianani, when he said You - creature - come here after they lifted off in his ship; while it would usually be safe to assume that someone were addressing the only other being that speaks Basic present, the fact that tall guy had not yet spoken or even looked at her made Advika hesitate before, motioning for Kaponianani to follow her in case tall guy was talking to the goat rather than her after all, she made her way to the cockpit.
Afraid to sit down even though the tall guy had pointed to the seat since that silent instruction had been followed immediately by the command to not touch anything, Advika clasps her wrinkled hands behind her back as tall guy asks a bunch of questions and then gives her a not so very comforting speech that leaves her more than a little afraid for her family in Coronet and for her immediate future even though he says he's taking her somewhere where she will be safe and learn to protect herself.
As she is trying to calm down enough to start answering tall guy's questions, her goat, sitting in a seat as though she belongs there, emits one of her signature blood curdling screams.
Keeping her hands behind her back and doing her best to keep so still she is in no danger of touching anything, Advika - taking tall guy's instruction to start at the beginning literally, says, "I'm Advika Lal, a Weequay. I was born eighteen years ago here in Coronet to . . . . after explaining that her parents - who have two other younger daughters, had been born to her grandparents, also born on Corellia, who had been born on Sriluur - were bakers in Coronet, and, after telling him about her childhood and what it was like growing up the oldest of three sisters, that she had recently graduated from high school and had been accepted into the University of Coronet, which occasioned her trip to Doaba Guerfel to celebrate her acceptance with a small group of her closest friends.
Finally reaching the pertinent part of the story, Advika explains how the big hulking guy that is now dead in tall guy's backyard had kidnapped her without any explanation, and then details her escape from the hulk and into the forest that brought her then to tall guy's isolated farm, concluding by pointing out . . . into the barn after you threw the shovel at me and said, well more like strongly implied, I could stay as long as I was gone by morning, and then the hulk thing set the barn on fire, that wasn't me, I swear."
Looking worried, Advika asks, "Are you sure we shouldn't at least check on my family first, sir? Or let CorSec know they could be in danger? I don't understand who else would be coming after me, she starts talking faster and her eyes start glistening with unshed tears as she adds, What do you mean people like me? I'm just a normal, everyday Weequay! Why would anyone burn villages or slaughter whole families because of me? What's going on? Where are you taking me that's supposed to be safe? How do you know these people you say are coming after me won't burn the place down looking for me?"

Ky Rynn's face held a pensive expression that hovered between concerned and uncaring as he heard Advika's tale. He sat back in the pilot's seat, produced a long pipe from seemingly nowhere, and began to smoke. The air began to fill with the scent of stale tobacco smoke.
"So you are from this world then. Better this rock than another."
Ky Rynn blew puffs of smoke into the air while staring at the ship's dimly illuminated 'no smoking' sign. He carefully thought about his answer to this inquisitive youngster. He was attempting to decide between sending her on her way or leaving her here.
"How do I word this in a way that your small, under-developed, pubescent mind can understand?" He started, "some people are born ordinary, some are born lucky. You, on the other hand, are neither. Instead, you have something about you that is special from the others. You have the potential abilities to do things with your mind, and to see things before they happen. There are others, like you, in the galaxy. Each one of them is linked to each other. Some of them can influence the weather, others can speak to lesser creatures, things like that. There are people out there that hunt people like you. They wait until they show any ounce of potential in their abilities, they take them and use them. But if the person doesn't have any skill in the things they need, they kill them. It's better to have you dead than a potential threat to them."
He looked back over his shoulder at where they came from, "a hunter like that guy would have tried to train you, realized quickly how inept you were, and probably killed you within a month. When he was finished with you, he'd go back to your family. Why? This gift runs in families. So any brother, sister, parent, or cousin that you have will be next. I've seen them do that. They come and destroy whole villages looking for people like you. They do not care who will stand in the way when they have a target, like you, to find. Do you understand?"
He got out of his seat and began to walk out of the ship through the open hatch at the back. "Now you have two choices: I can keep you here, they will protect you and train you until you are ready to leave on your own and able to protect yourself from those people. Or, I can return you home to Coronet or wherever." He looked back at Advika, "but it will only be a matter of time until they come looking for you again."

Advika, following Ky down the boarding ramp, mulls over all that he has told her in his distinctly unleavened way and, finding that she cannot refute his logical conclusion, sighs as she says, "I understand, then frowns as she says heavily, I will stay here and be trained," thinking that, at least this way, she will be learn to defend herself and ideally draw any that might hunt her away from her family and to here where those within the walls of what looks to be a school of some kind should, if Ky is correct, protect her. She also makes a mental note to ask about someone letting her family know that she is okay and maybe asking that they be looked after by CorSec or possibly even be relocated somewhere where they will be safe if any one else comes after like Ky seems sure is a likely possibility.
As they make their way towards the stairs leading up to the building's main entrance with her goat, Kaponianani, trotting along protectively beside her, Advika barely notices the decorative gardens they pass as she asks glumly, "Who are these people that will be protecting and training me? Will you be staying here too, or will you just drop me off and go back to your farm? Petting Kaponianani's head affectionatley, she asks in a concerned tone, I can keep my goat with me, right?"

Front Entrance
Leontyne has never found guard duty particularly interesting, preferring to be either researching for an archaeological expedition or being out and about on one to standing outside at the academy's front entrance for what can seem to someone with her restless temperament like an eternity, but as it is only fair that she is included in the rotation of Jedi Knights and Masters that assume the duty of guard, accepts the times her turn comes up with as much good grace as she can muster.
Susi, Leontyne's fifteen year old Ocsin Padawan learner, is telekinetically juggling a few blumfruits in one hand as she munches on one while Leontyne quizzes her on the proper ways to preserve and store archaeological findings containing organic materials when a tall human male, a young Weequay in Porg jammies and a goat begin walking towards the academy entrance. Letting the red blumfruits drop into her palm, Susi finishes replying, ". . . impregnated with conservation materials like polyethylene glycol, resins or polysaccharides to allow for their study after excavation, and then nods towards the odd trio approaching the stairs as she says, We have visitors, Master, grinning as she adds in an amused tone, One of them is a goat."
Tilting her head to the side as she moves from beside the pillar she had been leaning against and gets a look at the trio starting up the stairs, Leontyne - a tall Socorran with a mane of curly dark hair who is in her late twenties - chuckles as she says, "I thought you were making up the part about the goat, and then, clasping her hands behind her back and motioning for Susi to follow her, walks down the stairs to greet the trio midway up the stairs. Bowing at the waist, Leontyne addresses the human male as she says, Welcome to the Corellian Jedi Academy, rising from the bow as she introduces herself, I am Knight Ciresi, then inclines her head towards Susi and introduces her, and this is Padawan Nucio. How may we assist you?"

Ky Rynn scowled and looked over at the Jedi Order. It had been too many years since he had stepped foot into its hallowed halls. He thought that his less-than-graceful exit from Courscant's order would be the last time that he would find himself here. He looked at Advika. The young girl was here, alone and with no one to help. Strangely, she had also taken a liking to the goat. Ky Rynn let out a grunt, thinking of an excuse to get him out of this mess.
"They won't let someone like me stay here. Best that I return back to the farm and rebuild."
He lied. He knew that it would be highly unlikely that the Order will let him go after re-appearing following so many years of seclusion. He was just about to turn to leave when one of the Knights appeared, seemingly out of nowhere! He tried to think of a plausible explanation for everything to not alert the suspicion of anyone else.
"Uh.... this creature is Advika. I found her on my farm. Anyways. She doesn't belong with those normies out there. Pretty sure she belongs with your kind. And the goat. She can look after the goat. Either way, she's not safe going back home. She was chased, you know.... by some sort of hunter. Anyways, best that she goes with you and train with you.. or something, whatever it is that you do out here."

Advika gives Ky a skeptical look when he says that he wouldn't be allowed to stay here with her and will be dropping her off and going back to his farm, not really surprised that he would just want to be rid of her as quickly as possible since he had made that abundantly clear from the moment he took notice of her on his farm while she is not sure what he means about someone like him unless he means because he is unsociable and on the grumpy side even if, underneath all that gruff exterior he must be at least a little decent since he didn't just let the hunter recapture her.
Pursing her lips in commingled irritation and amusement when, after the dark, curly haired human that introduces herself as a Knight and then introduces her Padawan, Ky refers to her as a creature. . . again, Advika finally takes in what has been said and realizes that Ky is depositing her at a Jedi Academy, to be trained as one, and looks surprised and probably a little shocked and maybe a bit irritated too since Ky could have told her that and spared her a lot of confusion if he hadn't instead talked around it. She smiles happily though when Ky says she can look after her goat, Kaponianani, which makes her do a victorious fist pump before she pats Kaponianani's head with one hand while she waves with the other and tells the Jedi Knight and her Padawan, "Um, hi, nice to meet you both, and then throws Ky under the bus as she points at him and says, I am pretty sure he's one of you by the way. Could he stay for a while as I get started with the training? I think he's been out in the wilderness on his own for waaaayyy too long."

‘Finally, this creature will be safe.’ He thought to himself.
He looked back at the Academy and fondly thought back to his own time in a place like this. The training was hard. But he survived, somehow.
Though he had been a Jedi Guardian once, he loved his life as a soldier more than he did as a peacekeeper or ambassador. One might say that he had the political tact of a sack of hammers. Thankfully, those days were behind him. All he had now was time, peace and solitude with his beloved animals on a little farm in the middle of nowhere.
He was shocked!
“What, me?! I have no place here. I have a farm to look after and…” his eyes moved over to the goat. The goat had wandered off now and was standing on top of a statue eating leaves off of a tree branch.
“I have goats to look after. They can’t…” he stopped and looked at the goat as the goat seemingly glared at him, “or rather shouldn’t look after themselves. They’ll get into trouble.”
His eyes scanned the grounds. It seemed quiet here. Perhaps, too quiet.
“Where is everyone? I thought that you’d have more students here.”
