Vasari's flames had already burned much of what could be burned within the Jedi Archives and at last she had found a terminal that might hold the information she was after. With the attack team Viox had sent along with her flanking her now protecting her from anything that might come after them she stood at the terminal moving her fingers over the keys with a practiced efficiency, not natural skill. Most of the base information was useless... and the encryptions protecting the more important things were beyond even her practiced skill and so she had interfaced the computer with Viox' wrist comm - which connected her to the AI on Viox' ship - using one computer system to fight the other - the only thing she needed now was time for the AI to work its way into the core systems of the Archives so she could retrieve the information she was after - or at least find its location. "This is going quite smoothly... I do hope the others are having more fun..."She almost pouted to the troopers near her before turning her attention back to the computer.

On his way into the archives, the smell of noxious burning fumes grew stronger. He shielded his face as he walked in.
"Blast!"
He exclaimed to himself as he witnessed the destruction before him. He tried to salvage as much of it as he could, beating out the flames to the best of his abilities with what he had with him, but wait... there was a presence in the room. Who else was in here? The Jedi cautioned himself as he moved forward, keeping his head low as to not breath in the remaining smoke.
"Who's there?"

Rampant had moments ago granted her access to the Archives internal systems - and while she still did not have access to the Bases main computer she didn't really need it. An internal inventory to locate exactly what she was after was good enough for what she wanted. She passed orders to the surrounding Sith Troopers to fan out and search for the data she had located - taking a memory tab from Kage to download what little she could - the rest they would actually have steal the harddrives from the main computer core. The Jedi Archive security was much stronger than what she had expected coming from a home library made up primarily of old texts not electronic documents and manuscripts long ago copied over.
"Your men can handle the computer core... I feel something close, that will no doubt require my attention."
As if to accent her point there was a shout from just a floor below her calling out of the smoke. Vasari smirked and walked towards the ledge slipping out of her cloak and tossing it back at kage chuckling as it covered his helmet like a discarded blanket - only then did she call out to the Jedi below, finally drawing on her full connection to the force - no longer desiring to hide her true power.
"I was beginning to wonder if anyone at all would come and play with me! Who gives me the Pleasure?"
Lifting her saberstaff from her belt she held it casually in one gloved hand as she looked down over the ledge at the Jedi working his way through the burning stacks. She leaned against the railing with a grin, her bright orange eyes and tattooed red skin burning bright in the firelight.

Jair looked up to set his eyes on the intruder that was speaking to him. He shielded his eyes awkwardly from the smoke as he looked up, unable to get a proper glimpse. But despite what his eyes couldn't see, what he could now feel resonating from the intruder informed him of a lot. She was very strong with the Force. The Dark Side bubbled like dark magma within her signature but it felt neither tamed nor totally wild, indicating some experience, but not that of one who has practiced for a very long time. Jair deduced, therefore, that she was likely on the younger side. But he could be wrong. It wouldn't have been the first time he was wrong.
He called out, relatively calmly and casually, and without any Jedi bravado at all;
"I'm Jair. One of the Knights here. And your name?"
Jair was an odd Jedi. This type of casualty was normal for him these days, and if the intruder were to take offense or judge it as mocking, she would have completely missed the point. Jair tried to dispel confrontation, not create it. If she was able to get a good look at the Jedi, she would notice a few things. First would probably be the odd choice of a dark robe, despite having an unmistakable aura of Light. However, although his aura was Light, if one pressed into it enough, one could presumably get the picture that this one had certainly had his run ins with the darkness in the past. The next odd thing would probably be his youthful looks which would not quite match up to his Force signature pointing to a man who had gone through many experiences in this galaxy.

*Vasari leaned downwards over the railing clearly overextending her balance and rested her elbows against the rail, the stance doing two things - allowing her to focus more on the Jedi through the smoke, and heavily accenting the cleavage visible due to the wrap she wore around her breasts. She smiled the smoke and flames seemingly not affecting her.
”I am Lady Nightshade, apprentice to he that leads the darkness against you this day.”
Crossing her arms upon the railing - her saver hanging idly from her fingers - she cocked her head to the side to study him. This was the first male Jedi she had seen... up close... and so his appearance did nothing to throw her off or cause her to question him. The aura of calm about him spoke to his experience, she saw the wisdom within his eyes, surprising due to the pretty and relatively young looking face. But she knew better than most when it came to the ways of the Living Force that appearance meant next to nothing.
”I’ve been tasked with finding a few things... but I’m afraid I’ve gotten terribly lost, can you help me?”
having sizes him up physically she reached out with her mind, sinking herself into the first current of the living force and allowing her mind to drift towards the light that she felt emenating from him. As she opened her mind to the Living Force her presence within the force changed slightly, upon closer inspection she wasn’t wreathed in darkness completely, she drifted easily towards his mind brushing against the light that radiated from him like a lover. Thoughts and whispers of curiosity begged at his mind caressing the barriers that protected his thoughts and feelings.

Jair allowed the intruder to explore his aura for the moment, seeing no harm in it. He turned his attention to creating a few small Force Waves to ripple from around him. It was nothing very strong or dangerous, but simply an attempt to snuff out the remainder of the flames. He could only hope that they were successful in doing so or not. As the intruder continued to explore his mind a bit more, he cautioned himself in order to protect his thoughts. However it also enabled him to realize that she was not yet completely taken by the darkness. His heart jumped a bit. Perhaps there could still be hope for this one. Perhaps she could be persuaded to turn away from the path of pain. But for now, Jair listened, and gave the best answer he could give.
"That depends. I haven't memorized all of the entries in these archives."
And that was a truthful statement. Jair would question the humanity of any Jedi who would claim to be able to do such a feat.
"What is it that you are looking for, Lady Nightshade?"

Vasari watched the older Jedi as he slowly worked to suppress the flames rising around him. She gave him a not so subtle 'aw you poor thing' face as she raced her hands and extended her connection to the living force to reduce the flames along with him. She stepped up and rested her foot upon the edge to the railing before lifting herself off the balcony and descending the floor and a half towards the Jedi, landing gracefully only a few yards in front of him, the same gracefully look about her, and the same gentle smile on her lips.
"That's very nice of you..."Her voice was a soft seductive whisper, even as the crackling sound of the flames died down he would have to strain to hear her even as she stalked closer - almost as a cat that intended to rub against his leg would move, hips swaying with a huntresses grace."I found mention of a time before technology overtook your filing systems here... that last Librarian no doubt had his own personal rooms set aside to house his most sacred texts... I seek something that may lay within. Will you help me find it?"
Jedi as he may be, she could feel something different about him even as she pushed closer within his mind, the feeling of a friend moving closer lured at his mind, and her yellowish orange eyes batted lovingly as she looked at him. She didn't apply any pressure to the tenuous connection, refrained from using the force to alter his perception, only enhanced her own aspects to appear more appealing within and without of the force.

Jair could feel this ones allure, although it didn't pull at him. Make no mistake, the young Zabrak was quite beautiful, and oddly pleasant for one associating with the Sith. But Jair not only had his Jedi training to counter this, but, perhaps even more relevantly, there was someone else. Someone he cared so very deeply about, despite not quite being able to remember her whereabouts, or what had happened to her. But he held this information deep inside his mind. If Lady Nightshade wanted to know those juicy details, she would have to really dig and fight through his mental barriers. And there likely wasn't much time for that. Still, the Jedi returned a friendly smile, and motioned her to follow him.
"I might be able to help you with that. Follow me. I have been asked to recover as much of these archives as possible for evacuation, so, we might be able to help each other out here."
As Jair walked through the main archives he made sure to insert as many datapads as possible along the way to speed up the process of backing up as much could as he possibly could. They would eventually come to a door that was very secure. The written texts would be in the restricted area. Luckily, Jair had procurated access due to the extenuating circumstances of the evacuation, and opened the door with his key card.
He continued planting data pads to download everything that he could, before reaching the areas where the written texts were stored. There were several large self-transport storage bins in the area in case of situations like these. He securely opened each bin with his codes and books began to swiftly yet carefully and neatly fly off their shelves and stack themselves into these bins, the Jedi moving them with the Force. He filled up three bins, and then entered some values on their control surfaces. The bins then extended wheels and began to roll out of the archives entirely and away towards the balcony for evacuation.
Jair then led them to the next corridor... he felt a chill down his spine as he entered. He turned to Lady Nightshade, providing she had followed him this far. Somehow he had a feeling that what this one sought was near.
"If you could give me some more details, I might be able to help you find what you're looking for."

Vasari smiled cheerfully and began to follow him walking at his side as she reached out to the troopers that were no doubt watching from the stacks and the levels above and mentally waved them off - so that they may complete their own mission without interruption from this one. She noticed him inserting the data pads and while it would have amused her to fiddle with them or plant some virus to fry the system so nothing could be backed up or retrieved she knew that programming such as this no doubt had backups already in place for such tampering and the knowledge of this place would have already been stored elsewhere - it was that which wasn't transcribed to the datapads and computer mainframes that she sought. While she followed Jair into the other rooms and eventually to a locked door she fiddled with moving closer and closer to his mind. She found a very formidable defense in place and one that was based off feeling and emotion rather than the typical asexual view of the force that Jedi Dogma normally taught. This one had had his own brush with the darkness before, she could tell... perhaps he was still struggling with it, but regardless she got the feeling she was not destined to fiddle to much with this ones course - and so she lingered only as close as to be aware of the change in his own currents of energy just in case he were to turn on her and remained a good girl - at least for the time being.
Evacuation hmm? how interesting..."She reached for the comlink on her wrist that her master had given her - a direct interface with Rampant - his flagships A.I. and informed him to be on the lookout for ships evacuating the planet - she was sure there would be more than one. If their forces in space didn't have their hands full they might find the refugees easy pickings. As for what I'm looking for... I am afraid the details I cannot go into... but I have read that this planet has been through much in its recent history. Force Wars and Chaos running amok... Some Jedi would not have been able to handle such darkness, for you to have survived her is quite a feat of strength in the Force."
She moved into the room looking about for a few moments... nothing she sought when have been protected by something as mundane as a keycard. She moved into the room however and noticed the formation of the material building the room had changed as well. This room was slightly older. She moved to the wall - and reached up to press her fingers across the rock face - feeling herself move through the currents of the force through the wall - reaching - searching. She felt something beneath the room and without warning ignited one half of her saberstaff and plunged the blade into the rock wall. She focused for some time as her saber superheated the rock and began to cut through it forming a circle wide enough for her to crawl through into a corridor that descended deeper into the original foundations of the base - and the catacombs below.
"This... Feels right... shall we?"She smirked back at him before crawling through the fresh wound in the wall.

Jair slapped himself mentally. It would not have been a very big deal, as the refugees had already made it out of orbit by now. Still, it was not wise to mention it. And there were still the ships that would carry the cargo from the archives that needed to escape orbit. The Grandmaster would be rather irate if the written materials met an untimely demise due to Jair's little slip of the tongue. He too sent some codes to the ship that would be carrying out the materials, urging caution, before putting this in the back of his mind and addressing the situation at hand.
He began to fill more bins in the corridor they were in, and started to send them off, but after he got to the last been, Lady Nightshades change in countenance caused him to pause. At the ignition of her lightsaber, Jair instinctively reached for his but then softened, realizing she was looking for something in the walls. Odd... why would she be looking in the walls-but then Jair heard her mention it. The planet's not too distant history. The Chaos Wars. It was then that his countenance too changed, and a tone of seriousness was apparent in his voice. A tone that was not at all disparaging, but carried the wisdom of one who was, as she admitted just earlier, strong enough to endure said wars.
"I know now what it is that you seek. I will not try to stop you, but I must warn you. That tome... it is not even an ancient Sith artifact. It is a darkness unknown. You do not realize what it has unleashed."
Jair finished filling and sent the last three bins up to the balcony to be picked up as he watched Lady Nightshade go after the infamous tome that even he would not even willingly touch. Regardless, now that he had evacuated the remainder of the texts to the balcony, he followed her down into the catacombs, calling out to her from behind.
"I am not convinced that the Sith are even ready for what lies inside those pages. If you find it, know that I will not touch it. It's up to you to handle it, if you so desire such a thing."

The corridor she had stepped into was dark and the smell in the air was stale with age. She inhaled slightly and reached out along the corridor - the path slopped slightly downward and disappeared around a curve as the path led down into the catacombs of the Jedi Base. She followed it without waiting for the Jedi - but he was not far behind calling out to her with warnings of hesitance - warnings she did not all-together ignore. She paused and turned to face the Jedi raising the saberstaff's ignited end between them to illuminate their faces as he drew nearer.
"I feel drawn to something here Jair... This place is full of darkness and light, there are things here that probably should never have been. I do not come seekings the macabre... But knowledge. If this Tome you speak of holds the answers I seek, or a way to attain them I'll not hesitate - regardless of the dangers. I am not afraid."
She did not speak out of youthful bravado or the arrogance that so often accompanied the Sith that she had met, she simply spoke the truth. There were pieces to her own personal puzzle that she knew could be found here. She turned away from him then and continued down into the darkness, she was not afraid he would turn on her, her mind had long ago split to be on the defensive in case this was all a façade and he intended on betraying her trust. Using the light of her saberstaff she walked on into the darkness until she finally saw a light around a distant curve in the path. She raised the ridge above her eye in question and tilted her head to see if Jair had a reaction to the candle light flickering in the underground cave the corridor had lead them to.
"It appears someone beat me to this place..."She lowered the saberstaff and the blade fell silent allowing the darkness to close around them as she walked around the curve in the corridor and into the chamber. She had fell into a small meditation chamber crafted from the natural rock of the planet. Several candles were light among the walls having no indication of ever having burned lower than they were now. the room was empty save for a rock among the center where it seemed one would sit. Upon the rock was a black Jedi's robe folded neatly - trimmed in orange. By its side sat a mandalorian's armor bracer to the left of a curved lightsaber hilt. At the head of the room was a pedestal with a dark ominous looking book sitting closed upon it. Vasari's eyes brightened slightly at the book but she didn't take a step towards it. something was not right about this room. There were other books along the side of the room sitting within carved shelves, and even a chest or two along the back wall, but nothing drew her attention away from the book. She half tilted her head towards Jair, whispering in a slightly teasing voice.
"You say the Sith are not ready for what lies within... What happened here that brings you such fear? What harm ever came from reading a book?"

Jair followed from behind, listening intently to what she had to say. She seemed cautious, yet unafraid. That she held some caution was notable. Again the Jedi was reminded that this one had not yet totally given in to the darkness. He followed her into a room where she finally paused. He felt it too. He watched the young Zabrak glue her gaze on the book. He already knew what it was. He recognized it immediately. He felt a sharp chill go down his spine and as he exhaled, he could have sworn he saw his breath in the air. Memories of that accursed book and possessed dagger flashed across his mind, along with images of an excruciated possessed Jedi Knight, Anna. Thank goodness she was alright now. She, too, survived the ordeal. He looked directly towards Lady Nightshade now, as she asked her question. His eyes stood wide in first hand knowledge of the dangers within.
"At the slightest mishandling of those pages... you risk opening yourself up to an aspect... a projection... a shadow... of Bogan itself being released..."
Jairs pupils fluttered slightly in horror of the memory.
"It will become sentient. Do not be decieved into thinking you can make it your pawn! Not even the most powerful Sith Lord of the ancient times can control this being. The being IS Bogan. It will take control. It cares not of your alignment."
Jair paused again as more memories of the ravaging war that took place right here on this planet.
"It named itself. It began to try to turn the very planet. The depth of its evil and power made our earlier conflicts with a fallen Whill seem like a training session."
Jair focused his gaze upon Lady Nightshade once again, a sense of urgency and warning apparent in his gaze that was piercing at this point. He could not be more serious about anything than this, right now.
"I have witnessed many great evils in my life. Long ago I saw the dark practices of the Sith while undercover, first hand. I saw a Sith cut the hand off an innocent youngling once, slowly. I have witnessed tortures. A great Whill fell and spread his darkness over this planet, trying to twist it. But none of that... absolutely none of that compares to the darkness that was unleashed from those pages."
Jair added one final word of caution.
"And do not assume this can be used as a weapon. No. This... shade... it ravages the ones who open the pages, first and foremost. I have witnessed this. Again, I will not touch it. It is your choice."
Lady Nightshade would find not even a hint of deception in his voice, for what use did he have of lying about such a thing?

Vasari listened to the Jedi's words of warning - quite intently, her knowledge did not come from ignoring it when it was so readily at hand and willing to be inform her on the object that had brought her here. She took a step closer towards the center of the meditation chamber before the word 'shade' passed his lips and it caused her to fall perfectly still. Her heart rates tripled as the memories of the Dungeons below the Academy on Iridonia flooded her mind causing her split focus to snap back to basics and her mind focused on simply not reacting to it. It may have been just a turn of phrase.
Her worst fears were realized when the words echoed in her mind, and being as thrown off as she was, were not sounding within her mind, but echoing within the chambers of the cave.
"You are not worthy..."
Vasari shook her head attempting to clear her thoughts enough to sink into the mind of stone.
"Its taken you so long to get here... Lady Nightshade...is that what you're still calling yourself?" "Silence Shade!" "Oooh... so feisty, same as before, you've brought me a snack...Its been so long since I've tasted Jedi."
Vasari moved across the room to stand in front of the Jedi - without a second thought willing to protect him from whatever came forth from the book. She stood there for a long moment eyeing the book and yet nothing came forth. The vision of the shade she recalled from the Academy never came. Instead the shadow of Marka Ragnos appeared beside the book and extended its hand towards the pedestal.
"Take it child... and prove me wrong"
Vasari took another step forward before a Force Light Wall erected itself between the two of them and the book. An apparition of someone she had never seen before appeared on the other side of the book. From the looks of it the Jedi that had found this place and turned it to his own means - likewise the bearer of the garments and weapons remaining. The Jedi was Bothan by species - with russet collored fur and orange veins extending up the length of his left arm straight to his heart. The Jedi's hand was raised towards the wall as if it manifested because of his presence, but that would mean that this was not a manifestation of her mind - or even the book. This was a manifestation of the Living Force.
"Oh... my... stars... a Force Ghost..."

Jair backed up to give some space between himself, the young Zabrak, and the book. He couldn't quite tell what she was doing, but she seemed very unsure, at the very least. And as far as Jair was concerned, any one with a lick of sense should have been, at the very least, unsure of this book. He was rather taken aback though when Lady Nightshade stepped back, as if to protect him from the book. Odd... Then the blinding light flashed, and a form appeared. Jair immediately grabbed his lightsaber hilt and poised himself to guard them both against whatever terror just manifested before them when he realized... wait... a being of Light? How was this possible? And he seemed so familiar... As Jair's eyes adjusted to the light, he immediately understood why this presence felt familiar.
"M... Master Gadriel...?"
Jair stammered, his mouth now properly agape.

Gadriel's arm dropped and the wall of Force Light fell. He passed his eyes between the two that had come for the book. He crossed his arms over his chest similarly to how he always had, the darkness of his black tunic contrasting with his russet fur all dulled by the shimmering light of the Living Force. He gave what passed as a toothy smile to Jair who addressed him by name and nodded slowly in return.
"Young Master Crawford, caught between the light and the darkness yet again I see?"
Vasari raised the ridge of her brow in question looking back over her shoulder towards the Jedi, the lingering expression of awe still written across her face.
"You know him?"
The tone in her voice was slowly leveling out but her awe lingered as her eyes passed between the lingering form of the Force Apparition and the shade of Marka Ragnos lingering within what seemed to be a Prison of Force Light. Vasari blinked as the form of the shade hung still as to not touch the bars of light. The Apparition noticed the glance and nodded slowly.
"Yes Witch... He and I go way back. Its my Library you are burning to the ground..."Gadriel allowed the words to hang in the balance for a few moments before looking back at the apparition."This thing brought you here... young Dathomiri... It knows what you are after. And so do I... and I assure you, you will not find what you seek within its pages."

Jair simply nodded slowly in response to Lady Nightshades quesion, his mouth still agape. Of all the people he had expected to see, the Bothan Jedi Master was certainly not one of them. This was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. The bigger question was, how had he managed to get back here after all these years, now? How did he manage to guard the book? Those questions, however, had to wait. There were more pressing matters. And now with the presence of a Jedi Master here, in his ethereal form, perhaps he had more of a chance to guide this young Zabrak to the light. He addressed Gadriel first.
"I do not think this one is a witch. At least, not yet. There is too much light lingering within her still."
Jair turned his head back to Lady Nightshade, completely ignoring the shade. The thing was trapped in a cage of light, so there was nothing it could really do. Perhaps this could be a lesson in the piercing power of Ashla.
"I know I am not the only one who senses it. I feel this could be a critical moment for you. You can shape the path of your destiny."

Vasari's hearts nearly stopped as the Bothan Jedi addressed her, not by name, but addressed the true heart of what she was. This apparition of the force saw right through her mind, the steady balance she kept within the pool of her own thoughts. She gritted her teeth together to regain focus, unwilling to let this being of light deter her from her mission.
"If you wish to stop me... then you'll have to do much better than a Wall of Light."
The Bothan Jedi rose his hands in a gesture of surrender, not wishing to provoke the child of the force to a fight, here in this place that was sacred to him. His gaze passed between the two beings - one light, one dark and then to the cage and to himself. He was more than a little amused by the situation and the fact was clear upon his face. His blank blind eyes looked upon the two of them, seeing them more clearly than they perhaps saw themselves.
"What you are seeing is not the presence of a lingering Light... Jair, but a balance hard fought and won with the Living Force."
Vasari could hardly protest, she never claimed to be an agent of the darkness, even when doing so would have easily risen her to the head of the class at the academy, she did what she had to do, she delved deep into the dark side of the force to learn its secrets and to grow in strength and knowledge. She had no fear of the power it held, but she had rarely fallen victim to it. She looked back at Jair, the feeling growing within her like she was outnumbered and could not fight these odds, but still it hadn't come to a fight yet.
"That's why I am here, Jedi I write my own...- "No... you are here seeking the Book of Law."The ghosts voice cut her short, and once again she was dumbfounded by how transparent her mind was to the apparition - by all accounts she should not even be able to see this, let alone interact with him in this regard - before her mind could pursue the disbelief further the Jedi spoke again."And you thought the Library at the very Center of the Jedi Order in the Universe was a good place to start looking. Leave this book... and I will tell you where to find the one you really seek."
Vasari's glance returned to Jair, as if he she was trying to determine her next move, then finally she relaxed her defensive stance and nodded to the Apparition of the Light."You have my word..."Gadriel considered her for a short time and then cast his sightless gaze to Jair"Good enough for you, Master Crawford?"

Jair looked at the apparition of the Jedi Master quizzically. What did he mean by a battle hard fought, yet won? Was this young Zabrak fighting the urge to fall to the dark side? Then it occurred to him. Lady Nightshade was much like himself when he first began as a Jedi. Trying to learn some of the secrets of the darkness, yet taming it. Over the years, and after many close calls, Jair had finally relented and simply strove to gravitate towards the light. There was simply more peace to be found in that journey than what he was doing before. Regardless, he could still relate.
He listened intently to the interaction between the two, but much of it went right over his head. What in the blazes was the Book of Law? He had never heard of such a thing before. He was most surprised when the young Zabrak finally relented. When Gadriel asked him the final question, he simply nodded, still rather astounded by all of this."
"Well... yes Master Gadriel, that... sounds good enough to me."

Gadriel's gaze turned from Jair to the Dathomiri and back again before winking at Jair and faiding into the light. The cage vanished and the light that restrained the shade faded into the firelight. With Vasari's desire to retrieve the book and find answers fading due to the Jedi's promise the books power over her mind faded - and so the shade did as well. Vasari's eyes widened slightly as she looked back and forth between the two empty spots and finally turning back to Jair - her yellowish orange eyes burning brightly with something new - her balance offset slightly. "Where did he go? The Book of Law, WHERE IS IT!" Vasari's voice rose slightly as she stepped around the central dias turning to face Jair - her saberstaff sprining to life. "Some trick... Jedi?" Vasari's eyes narrowed as she sank into a traditional Form Three stance - perhaps not very threatening, but she did not wish to be caught even more unprepared then she already was.

Jair held his hands up passively as Lady Nightshade entered her battle stance.
"No trick... no trick."
Jair did not want any conflict now. This one had battled to keep the darkness at bay and he did not want that to unravel. Plus he just didn't like conflicts. The Zabrak would find no hidden schemes nor trickery in his voice. His expression was genuine.
"I was just as shocked as you were to see Master Gadriel... I have not seen him in many years. I am not sure where he went."
Jair eyed the room around him briefly. Where did Gadriel go? And what I'm the blazes was this Book of Law?
"I have not heard of this Book of Law until today. It appears you know more about it than I do."
