He chuckled.
"I'll take this one."
Cao reached for the bottle, pouring himself a shot, and bringing it up to his face just to sniff it. He shuddered slightly, then smirked before putting it back down and looking at the young woman.
"Let's start with why you're here. I sensed a little of what you could do; you're obviously Force-sensitive. So, more than likely, it was the will of the Force that brought you here."
Oh. My. God. Did you really just use that osik'la line?
Did you really just say "oh my god"?
"The will of the Force." Seriously. You actually just pulled that.
He opted to ignore his darker half, and continued on with the story.
"So, if you're here, it's probably because you're supposed to be." Shut up. "Anyways, as for what happened back there.."
I liked it better when you were alone. You didn't talk.
"You just got caught up in the wrong place, wrong time, from what I could tell. A bounty hunter was after a girl -- looked an awful lot like you, actually -- and once you tried to help, you kinda got caught in the crossfire. Na'an here took care of him, though. The thrill-seekers and money-grabbers, on the other hand, that was Leigh and I. And from the message I sent out, and the lack of a reply, I can only assume that said girl is gone now, probably unwittingly in the hands of some Sith. Poor girl. She doesn't know what she's in for."
Shut up shut up shut up, haar'chak I hate hearing your voice!
Cao grabbed the shotglass and brought it up, draining it without waiting to see if Na'an would follow suit. It was the first sign that he had shown in a while that Vilus was starting to get on his nerves.
Choke on it.
I hope you do.
He shook his head briefly, coping with the taste of freshly-downed tihaar, then held his hand out to the girl.
"By the way, I never introduced myself. Name's Caoimhin Shan. You can call me Cao."
Light-side abomination.

No. Adelle bit back the word on her tongue even as she drank in the Force around her. While it was the man's choice, she'd just about had it with Elly's "ends justifies the means" attitude and her lack of concern for the safety of the person she was trying to rescue. Didn't she have any idea what a shock in that area of the body could do to a human? An electric shock so close to a major vein, the bronchial tube, and the spinal cord would result in serious injury if Elly couldn't control her shock. This was a matter of precision, not for flashy implants and gadgets. Unless said gadget or implant was a scalpel.
The man backed away from Elly, hands in the air. Adelle could practically smell his fear, a light sheen of sweat on his brow.
And that was another factor to take into consideration. Perhaps if an EMP were made small enough, they could shut down the entire implant without endangering the man. Lightning. Then the implant would just be a strike lump of dead metal and wires. But of course something's coming they wouldn't be in an area where there would be ready it's coming it's coming such a lightning strike it's going to hit device that could do that. Unless watchoutwatchout tech girl could do something about it's here! Time seemed to slow for Adelle. She felt the precious milliseconds run down as the air around her charged up with expectancy. Just before the explosion came, Adelle flung out her hands and created a Force Bubble. The shockwave washed over the protective shield of energy first while the explosion splashed over the blue orb, eating away at its layers. Adelle felt her arms tingle and go numb as she channelled the limitless energy of the Force into the Bubble that kept them alive. Soon, the wave receded and left a profound ringing in her ears as she slowly let down the barrier.
Fire. Scorched hair and flesh. Melted duracrete, transparisteel. Her own sweat. Her heart racing inside of her chest. She could hardly hear anything. But the grenade had hit its mark and taken a few lives with it. The air started to tingle again, like lightning was about to strike there again.
The Mando was coming.
"Take him and go," she felt herself say. Her words sounded muffled. "I'll buy time." She braced her feet against the ground, gulping in the Force even though it burned like alcohol now, and threw her arms in front of her, releasing as strong a Push as she could manage. If Elly didn't take the man somewhere and get that damned implant out, she was going to murder a bitch.

"By the way, I never introduced myself. Name's Caoimhin Shan. You can call me Cao."
Light-side abomination. Na'an threw back a shot to match him, shuddering slightly at the oily, sweet taste of the liquor. Without pausing, she sent a sharp stab of telepathy in Cao's direction--the psychic equivalent of a slap upside the head directed not at Cao himself, but at Vilus growling and twisting inside him. If I have to tell you again, so help me I will come in there and gag you."I gotta say, kid, you got really lucky," she said aloud. Leaning in close, she took a hunk of bread from the plate, gesturing with it at the girl. "You say you act logically," she continued, "But I don't think you know what kind of situation you actually threw yourself in back there. You didn't even know you were Force sensitive, did you?"She took a rough bite, chewing it through a slowly deepening scowl. "That Sith knew. Just as he knew about Valerie...and if he'd had half a mind to pursue you, you don't want to know the kinds of things he would have done once he caught you." Swallowing, she took a deep breath as if to steady herself. "Granted, now he'll just do them to her.""Valerie made her choice, Na'an." Leigh reached for the bottle quickly, unscrewing the cap and pouring the organic beings another round before her friend could. Above the bottle, she shot Cao a significant look, her holographic eyes flickering from him to the bottle in her hands. If this train of thought was allowed to continue much further, it'd be on Na'an's mind all night. "Don't go through this tangent just yet. Miss Austin is safe, and we should ensure she remains so.""I know, I know. But she should know where she stands." Na'an took the shotglass in her free hand, tilting it to inspect the contents. "It's a dangerous galaxy for the unprepared."

I must be feeling though blows to the head! I swear i can hear voices that sound like you She points at Cao. in my head. One Bright like another dark... Wow. She shakes her head to clear it before responding to them.
This was the first time I couldn't think my way out of trouble. I have been through things, believe me, here. Dealt with Huts, gangsters, swoop leaders, junkies, pushers, pimps, i have seen it and beat it all. Until now i had no need to think i couldn't handle a situation. I have been lucky. I am generally lucky yes, but i don't rely on it. I out think people. I remember everything I see, and I can notice the changes. She got quite, as she added everything that had happened tonight. She should be dead, logically she should be. One of, even most of, the people she had encountered tonight could have ended her, and there was nothing her mind could do about it. It was only through help or through luck that she was saved. She thought of the times she was lucky, the trash, and the facade falling. She had wanted those things to happen didn't she? At the time she either needed it or was so terrified and wanted everything close. She thought back to other times when the same thing happened. The was one solution that fit. These people were right, she was Force sensitive. She was more than just a mind. In awe of this realization she takes the shot. Gags that it is nasty and spits it out. That is awful! How do you drink that stuff!

"Years of practice."
The second shot went down faster than the first; Na'an set the empty glass on the table, her eye flicking to Leigh with an eyebrow raised. As if reading her thoughts, the droid sighed, then nodded in assent.
"I"m sorry, let me rewind here. You outthink people." She balanced the glass on its edge with a finger, focusing on a last glint of moisture on its edge. Her voice was level, measured, but someone listening closely would hear a mocking edge as she repeated Kent's words back at her. "You remember everything you see, and you notice every change, huh?"
Leigh sighed again; Na'an paid her no mind, but finished the thought. "So why didn't you notice the man you were so scared of before sitting less than fifteen feet away?"
Na'an released the shotglass; as it tipped to clink against the wood, she flicked her hand upward to point at Gavin, at his table near the door.

Kent nervously acknowledges Gavin. I told you, I am breaking my norm here. She starts to get angry. I am not using that portion of my head, nothing I am doing now makes sense. You want a show then! She looks around the small dimly lit place for a second.
Fine! See that Togruta there? He is left handed, and is carrying a DL-44 under his tunic. The Twi'lek to my right? This is her first night cheating on her husband. He is a a gambler that has lost to many times. The human she is talking too? Looks like a hot shot smuggler and pilot, he has never left Nar Shadaa.
She pauses to let her statements sink in.
The Togruta. It would be easy to guess his handedness if he had a drink, but he hasn't ordered one yet. How could I know? His left shoe is scuffed at the heal more than his right, indicating his dominate foot is left, most beings the dominate side is the same for feet as it is hands. The blaster? The tunic is very lose to the point it would bunch and cause chafing, indicating something hidden. Something big and powerful, but he isn't that big of a being some nothing over the top. The dark brown color would hide if the handle came out a little, And finally there is a rounded fold that doesn't move or change shape where the scope has been wrapped up.
The Twi'lek. She keeps rubbing her finger where there is a slight discoloration the entire way around, there is something that is normally there but isn't now. She has expensive ear rings, a gift from her husband after a big win. But her cloths are cheap indicating times are tough right now. Her giggle when the man flirts is genuine, she is interested. But she keeps looking at the door wondering if someone will come in.
The man flirting with her. He looks the part. Slick back hair, the jacket, tools in the sleeve pocket, combat pants, and shinny boots. Let's go backwards this time. The boots have a perfect shine not scuffs, no stains things that happen on a star ship. So they are new you may say, not they are creased prenatally at the toes, so they are well worn. The pants, well folded and creased, you can see where the metal hanger rubs right above his knee. Hangers are not a space efficient storage option one would need on a freighter. The jacket... Ok that I will give him looks good, but the tools in is pocket sparkle. Not blemish or scratch, they have never touched a bulkhead, yet he moves as if he knows their weight by instinct so not one falls out. And finally his hair. Long and slick. Spacers are likely to have a helmet or a headset to communicate. No indentations at his temples and the long part in the back doesn't flip up as it would if under a headset most of the time. So yes he is lying.
Should I go on or do you get the point.
She looks at Na'an like she is annoyed, still angry.

*And so he had become noticed. Then again, he wasn't trying to actually hide, just keep attention away from him.
He listened to some of the conversation they had. He didn't have to focus hard as it wasn't quiet talk. He was impressed with what she could figure out, but he also disliked the reality of complete truth in this case. To him, Kent could have been exactly right, but then again, there was always the chance that something wasn't quite right. It was one thing to assume, another to know its was the truth. Na'an, he could tell had a similar idea that he had. She was smart, logically and able to out think others, but that went simply for what she knew. The situation they were in, as Na'an had said, was a little beyond what she experienced before. Her reaction against him was enough proof of that.
Despite being noticed and feeling Kent's building emotions, he didn't move, simply listening and continuing to drink.*

I would like to see you try.
Cao eyed Na'an meaningfully, a single eyebrow raised in response to her musings.
"Choices are there to be made. You can't change the past. Best to move forward to what you can change."
He chuckled slightly at Kent's reaction to hearing his internal bickering, rolling his eyes in amusement and slight exasperation.
"And yeah. My thoughts tend to run a bit audible."
He sat back and listened at that point, watching Na'an take the second shot and quietly taking his as well, just to match her pace. And then he watched Kent go off, almost like a detective, pointing out the people around them and their quirks. Elly had been the same way, but with technology, not so much with the people. He was impressed, though to be fair he hadn't lived as much on the streets or needed to observe people as much as this girl probably had. It was a good skill to learn, after all.
"Nice," he said, nodding slightly. "Got one more for ya though."
He leaned forward, his left elbow resting on the table and his chin resting in his hand. His multicoloured eyes, blue and brown, stared at her, the scar across his eye seeming to dance in the flickering candlelight. He smirked, adopting an expression of bemusement and confidence, then spoke.
"Do me next."

Kent sized him up. You would like it if I "did" she added a little sensuality on the did you. But even on Nar Shaddaa you would get in trouble for that. She smiles as she gets ready to read him
Born on Dantooine, northern province. The accent gives that away. Heterochromia iridium, rare in humans. She looks closer Genetic, not caused by trauma due to a uniformity of the eye tissue around it. That was a tough call with the scar, but the cut doesn't seem to go to the eye. The scar. Received in battle, obviously, but not a conventional weapon. No signs of burn repair, not a lightsaber. Not enough trauma for even a glancing blow with a vibro weapon, and even more unlikely given the light weapons on your hip... At the same time it is almost jagged, so not a regular thrown blade... She goes through all of the thrown bladed weapons she had read of. None seemed to fit, until. Razor bug! Only a living thing could give those vibrations.
Your hands... one shows more , wear, then the other... And nails... Your left hand is artificial.
You know her. Points to Na'an. And her. Points to Liegh, and turns to her for a moment. Yes, I notice actual personality in you. A true AI, interesting, but yes i called you her. Turns back to Cao You know them. Well it seams. You used to be very friendly, but something happened. Now there is a good deal of hurt, but still an element of trust.
She knew there was more but she couldn't get it. It was just not on display. He was either good at hiding it, or it was berried deep. She searched and searched for more but couldn't find it. She couldn't end on that. Then she came up with an idea, this part my be true or may not be, but it should get a rise out of one if not both of them.
I am interested in the story of the sexual tension between you two? Or is it you three?
True or not it should cause a reaction she could read into, for all of them.

Where the detonation left Adelle slightly deafened, it did nothing of the sort to Alena, seeing as she was still wearing her visor, which meant that the recently-useful protective earwear suddenly became currently useful. She was thankful, though, that Adelle was helping them, though she realized that was more for the man's sake than for hers. She could tell that the Jedi woman wasn't exactly too fond of her, nor very fond of her suggestions for helping. She could see the reasoning behind the dislike, but she had learned long ago that some morals could afford to be compromised for the endgame.
She would have shrugged if it weren't for the fact that her life was in imminent danger. So, she did as the Jedi said. She once again grabbed the man by the wrist, deciding to conserve time by rolling her eyes while she did so instead of standing still, and stood.
"You sure you'll be fine?" she said, even as she was starting to run.
If anything, Adelle could comm her now.
That was assuming that she was able to..

Reaching the corner he was set back on his heels and staggered several paces as the force of some ill-fated wind slammed into him. Kad's holy light burned within him, dispelling the faint stench of Arasuum that sought to propel him backwards from his prey. With an audible growl of annoyance he resumed his steady pace, gaining the corner and leading with his blaster, three blue stun bolts lighting up the night. With deft movements for such a large man he traversed the barrel as he fired, covering three areas about two feet apart at chest height before ducking into a roll over his left shoulder. His armour clanged as he turned through the motion to come up in a crouch with his rifle tracking for a target. The situation took only a moment for him to assess and his lip twitched into a snarl.
Ignoring the woman in front of his his barrel tracked slightly to the left to fire two stun blasts over her right shoulder, the blue bolts seeking to bring down the two fleeing targets before they could disappear from sight. A chorus thundered through his head as Kad loaned him his holy spirit to see his goals through, causing time to slow somewhat as he saw to his actions. With the stun bolts away his attention returned to the woman in front of him. Without time to change the gun to kill he almost negligently fired a third bolt straight at the women's centre of mass.
At this close range, perhaps five meters? it would be difficult for her to avoid...

Unceremoniously bundled along by the visored girl, his right hand held out in front of him stupidly as she continued to hold on to his wrist, Eryl managed to keep up a steady stream of doomful utterances of impending death. Stumbling, dropping to one knee, dragging himself back to his feet and stumbling again he was not the most elegant of dancing partners for the multi-haired girl. His constant apologies and mumbled exclamations of their demise was soon likely to make his saving far from worth-while, perhaps proving to be more trouble than he was worth... Whatever that was.
They were nearing another junction in this shabby excuse for a city when the sound of blaster fire rang out behind them...
Val managed to get himself up another floor and into position to see the package and his escort bolt, leaving the Jedi standing with her hands extended in front of her. A strange gesture, he thought to himself as he made his way across a second walkway. Moving into a run he pulled out his comlink, pleased to not hear the hiss of static, and activated a channel.
"Lex? I'm going to need to to swing by and pick me up. Lock onto this signal..."
He got an immediate reply and left the comlink on, keeping it in his hand as he jogged along. Reaching the end of the walkway he rounded a corner away from the street below and heard the report of blaster fire...

For a brief moment, the table was quiet. Na'an's chilly, level gaze had broken at the mention of 'sexual tension', her eyes widening at Kent's outright brashness. Watching, Leigh wondered if perhaps the child had hit, however inadvertently, upon a nerve. Na'an wasn't the type to lash out in violence, especially not at someone so young, but then, Leigh had never seen her with one of the Family before...her second glance to Cao was almost anxious. He'd know better than she would...wouldn't he?
Then, the moment broke. Na'an snorted, and broke out...into a burst of laughter. She tried to stifle it in her hand, but a fresh look at Cao's look of surprise and consternation set her off on a fresh bout. For a good half a minute she shook in her seat, wheezing out words like 'menage' and 'minx' and 'trust'.
"Oh, you are interesting," she said, finally suppressing the last of her giggles. "I'd love to see your attempt at me if that's what you come up with, my gods." She snorted again into a third shot of tihaar, downing it in a gulp. When she surfaced, her face was flushed and bright--either from the laughter or the drink, or both--and the good humor she had entered the bar with had returned. Her eye had returned to Kent, and while it pinned her to her seat with similar intensity, the mockery had softened somewhat.
"You don't have to try so hard to impress me, little rabbit," she finally continued, resting her face in her hands and grinning broadly. "I'm not assuming I know what you followed me here for, aside from answers, but I'm willing to provide what I can before we head offworld." She gestured at the untouched plate in front of Kent; the sausages were beginning to cool, the grease shiny in the candlelight. "Although if you'll take a recommendation, you should get offworld too. Maybe head to Felucia, get yourself some training in the Force at the Praxeum there. Sensitivity alone doesn't make you safe, especially here."
She said the last with the sure tones of experience; at her side, Leigh's hologram gave her a sidelong glance, her eyebrow raised.

Kent bursts out laughing.
A force school! HAHAHA, yeah I am not really, into a group structure sister. And i am still not really convinced about this me being one of you Forcies.
Oh and the sexual tension was just a guess... Looks like I hit the nail on the head though.

She leaned deeper into her own hands, watching the little girl sass her with all the confidence of a Jedi Master.
"You're not even close." She paused a minute, to let that sink in just enough before continuing. "Also, on the 'forcie' thing? Let's see. You can hear Vilus, you had to have heard Valerie if you were in that alley, you clearly sensed the Dark Side in our friend over there if you were running from him, and while you didn't blast the hole in your house you were the ripping the wall down on top of you--putting yourself in danger to boot. If you're not aware of your own Force capability," she finished, "You're not nearly as smart as you think you are. Sister."

Kent starts thinking about her past. Every moment. She realized it was true. Thinking about it, it fit. She was Force sensitive. And in that moment her life changed. The look of shock and realization evident on her face. Emperor's Black Bones... This fits. Woha...
For the first time in a long time, Kent was truly left speechless. She hasn't been in shock like this for almost a decade.

So something had finally sunk in. "I'll say my suggestion again, while you're finally quiet enough to listen." Na'an plucked a piece of bread from the nearby plate, folding it around a sausage. "You shouldn't stay in a world like this. Untrained and mouthy as you are, you'll get yourself killed or worse. If I were you, I'd get to a world where there are Jedi to train you. Felucia's likely to take you in, or Yavin. Just don't wait."

There is something you dont know about me. I dont do class rooms, i dont do large groups. I... I kinda missed the opportunity for traditional school. I have been on my own for most of my life, and before that i was a pirate's slave.
I know most things, thats not me bragging, its just a fact. But one thing i dont know is how to be student sister.
It didnt seem like much, but Kent had just really opened up to Na'an. KEnt couldn't say why, but she knew she could trust this one eyes woman. She opened up more that she had... well to anyone. Ever.

What the kriff is this stuff? When his drink finally arrived, in a glass that was too big for both his hands to circle it completely, Oz just sat and stared at it for the next while, seriously considering the fact that he might be about to commit suicide. Then again... go big or go home. I WAS trying to go home... A tear threatened to break free and slide down his face, so without further ado and in an attempt to prevent that catastrophe, he gripped the huge glass and dumped the foul brown liquid down his throat. He got about two seconds into it before the glass slammed back onto the counter and he took a very long, very wheezy breath, half certain that his throat was being eaten away from the inside out. Owww....
With a frantic hand gesture, he managed to call the bartender over again.
"What..." He cleared his throat to try and get it above a hoarse whisper, but failed miserably. "What the kriff is this stuff?"
"Deuterium-pyro. Half spaceship fuel, other half flamer fuel. You asked for the strong stuff..."
"It's AWESOME!" Even at the decibel level of a hoarse whisper, he still managed to convey his great new fondness for the drink and its ability to force all other thoughts immediately out of the drinker's head, including the annoying sad ones.
The bartender went back to her other clients as Oz began chugging the remainder of the glass in earnest, knowing full well that he'd be completely unable to taste anything for at least a week afterwards. Ok, so maybe more like a couple hours... Sue me. When he finally and miraculously made it to the bottom of the glass, he slammed it back onto the counter and shouted for more, though to the others in the bar the sound would have been more akin to a raspy squeak. The force of his glass-setting pushed him off-balance enough that he toppled backward off the stool to land back-first and feet-up on the floor in front of the bar, deliriously chuckling at the hilarity of his own incompetence. Force, that stuff was strong.

"Clearly."
Na'an's expression softened, looking almost fond. Kent wouldn't meet Na'an's eye now, and was picking at the grain of the table rather than look up. The girl had been fronting almost from the moment she'd walked in. The moment her ego had taken a crack, however, her face had flushed brighter than any drunk's, and she had, despite her mouth, withdrawn. It must have been years since she'd been caught unawares, either through wit or luck, and now she looked even more like some small, lost animal than before.
It wasn't anything like Na'an had been at that age, but it was still pathetic enough to earn some sympathy.
"First thing you'll want to learn is how to show some respect. I saved your hide today, and could whoop your ass in a second if I wanted to. You don't get to call me 'sister' like some punk kid." Na'an proffered the wrapped sausage to Kent, as for some reason her own plate had gone completely untouched. "Pull something like that with your first Master and you'll regret it instantly."
