The thunderous report of a blaster shot shattered whatever backbone Eryl had grown, causing him to start in fear, eyes widening and face draining of colour. Her following words drew a silent bob of the head, a strange motion that looked as though the man were trying to clap a beat with his chin against his chest. With a strange flapping motion he wrung his hands in panic and began to back away from the corner she had glanced around, not noticing that he was backing towards the edge of the walkway and a thousand feet drop to a pointless death...
"I can't... I don't know... What they... aaargh-"
His words trailed of as he stumbled against the rust-coated railing that was the only meagre barrier between those on the street and a failed lesson in flight. His back knocked the ailing metal causing it to give way from its housing in the duracrete floor. With a crack and an agonising scream the metal bent outwards, tilting him off balance to scramble for a handhold. With desperation he wrapped his arms around the torn metal and was swung lazily over the gaping chasm below as the railing twisted to dangle him three meters out over the edge.
"Heeeeeeelp!"
===============================================================================================
Up on the higher walkway Valus had needed to move further down the balcony to avoid the ascension of the Jedi woman, putting some distance between her and his own presence. Consequently he had lost sight of his prize and was making his way across one of the bridges that spanned the gap between the crossing airlane. Reaching the far side he turned back to his right and made his way along hoping to get to a position slightly ahead and above where they were likely to head in their efforts to escape the rampaging Priest...

The signal being transmitted from the hidden tracker deteriorated further as he moved forward, finally dissolving into a red shadow over his HUD. His target could be anywhere within a two hundred meter radius it seemed, a not insurmountable area to cover. His helmeted gaze turned left and right as the targeting computer within the buy'ce assessed any individual it scanned, matching face and retina recognition to its databases. A few small time bounties in evidence but nothing worthy of his attention, certainly small change to the sum being posted for his current mark. He growled out a few choice oaths at having the need to reacquire his mark, a few promises to send the souls of those who opposed him screaming down into Kads embrace.
He was about to move off when suddenly the interference cleared and he had a steady tone from the tracker. Ahead and to the right slightly, one hundred and seventy five meters. He was just moving again when something else gave him pause. The voice wasn't recognised, such distortions likely colouring the sound, but was certainly female and the words. His head tilted to the side and a frown creased his brow, unseen behind the T-shaped visor. It was obviously a distraction, the words making little sense to his current situation, surely a ploy to draw his focus away. Still, even knowing all this his mind flickered back to what he'd had. What he'd left behind. It was just the kind of sentiment she had used, the kind of sentiment that had made him weak in the eyes of Kad. His HUD pinged as it traced the source, marking an alleyway across from where the tracker indicated the mark was. His eyes narrowed as he assessed the terrain. If he were to go directly for the target he would leave himself open to whoever had transmitted from that alleyway.
He growled another oath at the complications that were stacking up in what should have been a relatively simple enterprise. His comm flickered on with a slight manipulation of facial muscles and his voice snarled over the channel.
Jate kebbur, hut'uun...
He strode forward with his blaster trained on the alleyway and the source of the comm transmission. He could easily track the signal to his prey after he had dealt with this joker...

Adelle dropped onto the walkway from above and rolled on her shoulders, sprinting to the loose railing. She'd sprinted back and down to Elly's level when she felt the fear and panic spike. Her calloused hands gripped what she could of the weakened railing and pulled on the bar. Her soles dug into the duracrete path and she ground her teeth as she strained, tapping into the Force to swing the bar and the man back to safety. Adelle caught the man as he half-stumbled, half-fell onto the walkway. She steadied him then gave him some space. Just in case he was feeling as difficult as she sensed he was earlier.
"Are you or are you not going to let us help?" she asked. His distrust of her and a spark of... stubbornness? pride? had flared inside him after she'd healed him earlier. Which was dangerous for everyone involved. And a Mando on the hunt was already more danger than she really wanted to be involved in right now. What she really wanted was a drink. And if this guy kept being stupid, she was going to need a stiff one. Several of them.

The scream sounded from behind her moments before the voice crackled in her ear. She was torn; it would be poor performance to distract the Mando hunter just to have the man fall to his death, but her HUD pinged with a signal of Force usage, and she relaxed slightly.
The lack of an accompanying scream or any cursing from behind her was enough for her to tell that Adelle had just saved the man. Which was good, because now she could focus on the man who served as their predator.
"Nice catch," she called out over her shoulder without even bothering to look.
:: Ooooh, kad'la lalat, burc'ya. Gar murcyu gar'buir ti ibac uram? ::
Good, it looked like he was falling for it. That was a relief. That meant just that much longer before he could catch up to them. She turned, looking at the pair behind her, and started walking over to them.
"I've got him chasing a decoy comm signal, but that's not going to last. I can only sass him in Mando'a for so long before he figures me out. Got a plan, Miss Bastiel?"

As soon as his dangling legs were once again over solid duracrete Eryl let go of the jagged railing to collapse in a heap on the floor. Hands bloody from where they had clung desperately to the sharp edges of the torn metal he let out a stifled sob as he tried valiantly to get a hold of himself. The flirt with the thousand feet drop had somewhat muddied his senses and he considered it a miracle he hadn't sullied his pants...
Waving away the Jedi's question he bobbed his head once as he struggled into a sitting position, backing away from the edge until he bumped into a wall. With a trembling and bloody hand he tapped the side of his neck, just on the jugular.
"Implant..."
|He gasped and took a huge gulp of breath before continuing.
"There is no stopping him. He can track me anywhere I go!"
He gave Alena a look that was sardonic, perhaps the most confidence they had seen from him as yet, and his tone was that of explaining something to a child.
"If he is chasing your decoy it is because he believes it a threat not because he doesn't know where I am."
He seemed to shake himself and pushed himself up the wall until he was in a standing position.

Did she have a plan? Adelle raised an eyebrow at Alena, kneeling down to check the man's torn hands. The wounds didn't look too deep, thankfully, but she was more concerned about the rusted metal. She reached into her jacket and pulled a couple of bacta patches from a pocket as the man touched his neck and choked out a single word. A tracker. Sure enough, she could see the slight bump in his skin where the device had been intradermally inserted. She peeled off the backing of the patches and firmly pressed them to the man's hands. That much she had figured when she'd seen the Mando head straight for Elly's location without hesitation. If she'd had her tools, she might've been able to extract it with minimal blood and pain. As it was, she didn't even have a knife on hand.
"We'll find a way," Adelle said quietly. Not that she really believed they would; this situation grew more complicated by the second and plans would only go so far. It was more for his sake, to calm him down and keep him level-headed. Screaming wasn't going to get them anywhere fast.
Decoy. Chasing a decoy. Adelle stared at the man like he'd said something brilliant then turned to Alena. "You. With all your tech, can you mimic the data emitted by the tracker? Just put a couple clones around our location and have them move randomly when we do. Is that possible?"

*Gavin made his way into the Corellian sector, unaware of the events transpiring there. Only one thing was on his mind. He came across a place, Paleki's. It served drinks and that was what he needed.
Going straight to the bar, he ordered a full bottle of Corellian whiskey, a favorite of his brother's. Getting the glass and the bottle he began to drink, his mind focus solely on the glass.*

The bartender -- and owner -- of Palecki's, a middle-aged-bordering-on-elderly woman going by the name of Pavin Gol, spared more than a few glances at the newcomer who had ordered a full bottle of Corellian whiskey. She made her way over to him, her green eyes sparkling with a sense of intelligence that had not been dulled with age.
"You look like you've had a long day's night," she commented, her voice thick with a foreign accent of unidentifiable origin, wiping down the wooden bar in stereotypical bartending conversation-making.
There were very few dark corners in the establishment. It had a bit of a rustic feel to it, a single small candle at the center of every table. More luminous were the mounted candles above each of the booths, the flickering of the flames casting dancing shadows along the walls and seats in a never-ending choreography of shapes and forms. There was always the whisper of conversation, couples sharing supposedly private talks, businessmen settling transactions, men talking about this girl or that; people felt secure talking by the light of a candle, more private, more reserved.
Pavin didn't mind. She had heard her fair share of secrets spilt in the establishment she had inherited from its founder and previous owner, Gozith Palecki. That was one of the perks of being a barkeep: information trading was always a business in constant resupply and demand.
She smiled a little bit at the thought that no one here knew her real name. She wasn't hiding behind a different identity for any other reason than to have fun with it. It was fun seeing old friends and having them not quite recognize her.. In fact, she was certain she had only met one person who had managed to find her out. But the cat-and-mouse games were half the fun.
She had picked the name out specifically to parody one of the salesmen over in the Refugee Sector, a Wookiee going by a very obviously fake name. The two of them had come to know of each other, and they had worked out a friendly business relationship. Both of them gave the other one discounts, and both of them enjoyed seeing people stare between the two of them, just puzzling over their names...
================
"Good. I hope he does. Gives us more time."
She had knelt down, staring intently at the man's neck where the implant was, her visor already starting a scan, when Adelle turned to her and asked about making decoys.
"Sure, I can do that," she said, bringing up her wrist-mounted holographic keyboard -- invisible to Adelle's eyes -- and starting to type in what seemed to be thin air. "If it's transmitting biometrics, I won't be able to hide the lag in the updates forever, but I can easily copy a signal. It's just like what I do with the jammers when I don't want to be heard. Jam here, there, there, and over there, and no one's the wiser."
Her systems scanned the tracker, her bugs triangulating on the signal -- not for location, but for frequency and data. Within a few seconds, they had locked it down.
"Easy. Like I said, I can't account for lag in the biometrics; anyone with the systems to try could figure out which one is the source. If anything.."
She raised her left hand, pursing her fingers together and snapping them, the implants she upgraded herself with triggering and launching a small flurry of sparks from the snapped fingertips.
"I can always just short-circuit it. Shouldn't hurt too much."
Part of her just enjoyed showing off the fact that she could almost shoot lightning without a Force connection. It was flashy, it was showy, and that made it just her style.

*Gavin was slowly working on his first glass. There was no rush, he had all the time in the galaxy. As Pavin spoke, he didn't look at her but gave a small chuckle. It really wasn't too bad of a night but one thing always lead to another in some sense.*
"You could say that. Let one thing happen, then let the years of memory come pouring in like salt to an open wound."
*As he drank, he reached in his pocket and removed a gem necklace. In the center was a large emerald bordered in a thin gold surround by a larger border of silver. Four small gems of amethyst lay in a corner each, all of them surround in a small border of gold. The chain itself was silver as well. Laying it on the bar, his left hand lay on the chain just above the crystals so he could caress his thumb across it. Despite drinking and seeming lost in thought, had anyone attempt to take it would see just how quick his reflexes and strong his grip was.*

"...but she was already working on it!" Cao laughed, shaking his head at the memory. "And she was totally oblivious to what she had done!"
Leigh smirked as Na'an simply stared at him, processing what she had just heard.
"Yeah. I know. Hey, is this the place?"
He raised his artificial left hand, pointing at the establishment up ahead. Na'an gave a very decisive, affirmative nod, and Cao smiled. It would be good to catch up over a drink or two. Or five. Who knew where the night would lead?

Eryl backed away a step from the small female, raising his hands as if to ward off a blow. His eyes were once again slightly panicky as he stared back at his two impromptu allies.
"Wait a minute..."
His voice was hesitant with fear. There was no way he wanted anyone messing around with this device if they weren't sure what they were doing. Still, he accepted that they weren't going to get very far ahead of Priest with this thing firmly planted in his neck.
"We don't know what failsafes this thing has attached to it. For all we know it will blow my head off as soon as you try to tamper with it. The Mandalorian said as much."

Striding towards the alleyway Priest had taken the time to run a full scan of the area including thermal imaging. His heads-up display showed him that other than a few lifeforms the size of rodents there was nothing there to be transmitting. A bounced signal then, he thought wryly, a bit sheepish at nearly falling for such an old trick. He maintained his pace and direction nevertheless, not deigning to allude his prey to the fact that he was aware of the deception while steadily gaining a better angle on where the tracer displayed his quarry to actually be. As he neared the mouth of the alley so to would he be gaining a possible line of sight on the targets with the possibility of a strike. His still didn't want to harm the mark so he was limited in his choice of assault, choosing a concussion grenade from his ample supply of weaponry.
He neared the alley mouth then stepped around cautiously with bis rifle raised. It would not do to be incautious and it was always possible that there was someone there, someone who was defying his scanners with blanket technology of some sort. Stepping out to the alley then passed to hug the far wall, a standard approach to such a situation, Priest armed and flung the grenade towards the corner where the signal displayed the mark. Well aware of the abilities of any Jedi involved in this escapade, and assuming that said Jedi would have hung close to the damsel in distress they had stumbled upon, the wily Mandalorian was careful with his throw. The grenade landed in the street to skitter and roll along the far wall from where Priest stood, bouncing closer whilst remaining out of the line of sight of those around the corner. Even if he judged it ill and it fell short of the corner the concussion blast of sound would still likely disrupt them somewhat.
With the grenade on its way Priest pushed off the wall and bounded after it, confident that his armour and helm would shield him from any ill effects from gaining distance on the blast zone.

Kent followed at a distance always out of site. She watches as they go into the bar. It was a hidden gem of a place nestled between two massive casinos. This was the Corellian Sector, with all of its glitz and glamor. Each casino had a breathtaking light display or fountain. One building had a laser show timed to music that played on a loop. Each place did its best to outdo one another. Kent had made a lot of what little money she had counting cards at some of the smaller venues where security was a little lacking, normally she made it out before she was caught. Normally. Kent rubs a formally broken rib that didn't quite heal correctly. As she remembers that encounter. That was the night she met the waitress from Palecki's.
That was the part that people tended to forget about the Corellian Sector. All the lights, all the fountains, exotic food, luxury, and glamor of this place was at its very core a cover up. It covered up the undercurrent of slime that filled this part of the smugglers moon. The Hutts still controlled this area with an iron fist, and they cared about making money however they could. When one was observant you could see past the glamorous facade and into the dark underbelly of the area. You could see the man that just lost his ship get tossed out the back with a broken arm because he couldn't pay his debts. The poor workers that can barely afford food for there families after a long day of cleaning rooms. That was the real Corellian Sector. Palecki's somehow stood in contrast to this. It was a true bright spot. Funny it was almost the opposite of the rest of the Sector. Everyplace else used bright lights and flash to cover up the darkness that lay just under the surface. The bar had a simple sign, and the interior was kept dim, lit by candles. Darkness that hid something almost bright. Kent was tempted to use the word classy.
She quickly looked around to be sure that know one was followed. When she was sure she dropped down and walked toward Na'an, Leigh, and Cao. She didn't say anything she didn't really feel like she needed too.

"...but she was already working on it!" Cao laughed, shaking his head at the memory. "And she was totally oblivious to what she had done!"
Leigh smirked as Na'an simply stared at him, processing what she had just heard.
"Yeah. I know. Hey, is this the place?"
Na'an nodded, not stopping until she was at the bar's faded door. She turned to Caoimhin, and through the Force felt a flash of Kent Austin lurking not far behind. "Find us a table near the back and I'll start the tab running. You still like tihaar?"
Cao's response brought another flash of a grin to her face, and she pushed at the door to let them into Palecki's. Inside, the bar looked smaller than it was--the dim lighting and candles had a way of isolating tables that all the walls in the world couldn't imitate. Several tables were full, the human and non-human features of multiple faces illuminated in flickering light. In one far corner, someone was playing music, a softly jazzy tune that buzzed in the back of her brain and hushed the voices around down to near-silence. She sidled past the nearest tables, feeling her way through the familiar space towards the bar. "I've got a big order, Pavin," she said to the bartender, who'd left her station to tend to some hunched figure at the closest table. "And someone coming in for my table later, but you can't let me go over four hundred credits this time." The bartender nodded, indicating that she was busy. Pavin Gol was like that, courteous to a fault to the customer at hand. It might be a couple of minutes. In the meantime, Na'an bent over the bar, eyeing the bottles behind it and waiting for the plump woman at the table to be done. Mentally, she calculated the number of credits she would need to get a good solid buzz going for three--and some food besides. *** Leigh sidled into the bar, watching Na'an move fluidly through the dark space. They'd been to this establishment often enough to have a friendly relationship with its proprietor, whom they had met through association with the Wookiee trader with an obviously fake name. She was back in familiar space--both of them were--and if Leigh had had muscles that held tension, she would have felt it all release at once.
Well, almost all. As Na'an leaned over the bar, the droid turned her attention to their newest companion. "You seem more...cheerful than my data logs indicate, Caoimhin Shan," she said, following him as he wove his way between the tables. "Is this a typical reaction upon meeting an old friend?"As they made their way back to an empty table, she wondered if the man in front of her would be able to sense her fascination with him, After all, Caoimhin was a Shan, the first Shan she had met aside from a younger version of her mother. Was he like his sister at all? Was the fact that her friend was so happy to see him a sign that he wasn't?
Did he know anything about his family--organic or otherwise?

Kent made a b-line for the table and sat without a word. What could she say? That she just felt that she was supposed to be with them? That though it made no sense this was what she knew she had to do? This was a very different place and state of mind for Kent. She was always so sure of things, now it was just different. In the first time in a long time she didnt scan the room. She had no idea who else was here, all her attention was on her companions.

The head that peeked around the corner of the entrance was disheveled and covered in dirty smudges with a pair of dark goggles pushed up on the forehead, but the eyes were bright and clear, darting around the room in search of trouble. The body that followed the head inside a moment later was short, no more than five and a half feet at most, and definitely not on the muscular side. Wiry at best. The jacket he wore was brown leather, smudged with soot and grease but otherwise perfectly serviceable. "Right. I think we lost 'em. Maybe. I hope..." He stuck his hand back outside and made a come here motion, then moved further into the restaurant as half a droid floated through the door behind him, turned sideways just to fit itself through the entrance. "I don't think they're gonna find us in here, but keep an eye out just in case. I'm gonna go get a drink." And really, really, really hope by all things forcey that I'm right...He stuck his hands in his jacket pockets and made his way to the bar, climbing onto a stool and waiting for the bartender to finish up with her current customer. He used the time he had to scan the room again, noticing for the first time the droid making its way to one of the tables closer to the back. Ok... How the KRIFF did I miss that the first time? Force almighty, just look at that chassis... And the cannon! I haven't seen anything that gorgeous since...."Hey!" Snap."Huh? Wha...?" It was the bartender, snapping her fingers in front of his eyes to try and get his attention. "Oh! Hi. Heh... Sorry. I was just, um... Can I get a really big glass of, uh... Something strong. Like, wookie level strong. Strongest thing you got. Big huge glass of it. Money is no object." He avoided looking directly at her while he talked, but when he finished he leaned back on his stool and splayed his hands out on the counter, his eyes finally climbing off the bar to, well... still look everywhere except directly at her. "Uh, please?" "Are you sure, kid?" Her expression was doubtful."Yup." He made sure to really pop the P. "I could really use it right now." "Alright..." She shook her head as she turned to prepare the drink, and he found his gaze wandering back to the bionic bipedal beauty (just let it slide for the alliteration... please?).Oz griffin, the aforementioned and described ruffian covered in dirty smudges and acting more nervous than a bantha in a gundark nest (ok, so maybe only just as nervous), had been unceremoniously offloaded onto Nar Shadaa less than a week ago by one Karana Malora, and since then had gotten on the very bad side of no less than three swoop gangs. Apparently they took offense to having their accounts full of illegally obtained credits drained drier than a tatooine afternoon. Who knew? The more surprising thing though was that he'd even been caught. they shouldn't even have noticed the hack for another three days. More than enough time to book a ship offworld and get the kriff off this rock. I just wanna go home...

*Gavin had finished his first glass when he felt the presence of Na'an and Kent, along with another enter the bar. He turned his head just a bit, seeing them settle into a booth.
Taking a deep breath he looked back to his empty glass, filling it with bottle he bought. He didn't want to draw attention to himself, especially with Kent around. Last thing anyone wanted was for her to have another mental break down.
Letting thumb caress the emerald necklace, he began working on his second glass.*

He snorted, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I've got just enough Mando in me that I can stomach it, yeah. But only just."
The darkness swirled in obvious dissatisfaction, probably not helped by the fact that it had been sassed by Na'an earlier.
Like that has anything to do with anything. You're a lightweight.
I'm not a lightweight. You're an alcoholic.
Can't be much of an alcoholic if you never let either of us enjoy a drink, hm?
That's what you do for an alcoholic, di'kut, you take it away.
Yet I don't see you stopping her.
Cao brought his hand up and lightly smacked himself in the temple, a clear signal to Vilus to shut the hell up. Any Force-sensitive in the area could have heard any of their internal bickering at even the slightest opportunity, and he knew that.
It was true, though, in their separate times Vilus had been known to hit the bar much more often than Cao had. But in all honesty, Cao was just finding reasons to annoy his darker half, and they both knew it.
His attention turned to the droid before them, his sister's creation and her armour's lookalike.
"Most of my old friends are dead and gone, Leigh. I've never complained about finding out that one of them doesn't fit that description."
He chuckled, the sound bittersweet even to his own ears.
"And you don't have to 'droid' yourself for my sake. I know how you were made; I've met another like you. I know your data logs are memories."
He turned to look at her as he sat down, his eyes staring up at where her face would be. He had stared into that very visor and seen a living person just a few times, and although that was seven years ago, he still knew just where to look.
"I know you remember every bit of me that she did when she created you."
He also knew that the LEs hadn't been built, they had been created, and he remembered LE-01 making that distinction to him once..

Leigh's holographic face suddenly blinked to life, looking almost startled. Then it smiled, the dark blue eyes crinkling over a thick spattering of freckles. "I see. I'm...sorry, to hear that your friends are so rare nowadays."
The mention of her sisters explained why he was so calm. Most organics took some convincing, to see the truth of her sentience and treat her as anything more than an R2 unit. It was...refreshing, actually, not to have to make the effort. Caoimhin Shan looked like a man distracted, but his perception was good. Not to mention, he'd picked up and used her name immediately, without any sort of prompting....
In those few seconds, the pair had reached the bar's last empty table. The child, having snuck in before them, had sat in the seat closest to the wall; Leigh sat to her right, facing Cao. She steepled her fingertips together against the thick wooden grain of the table. "But no wonder Na'an likes you so much," she continued. "The memories I was given don't really do you much justice...but maybe that's not fair. I could have always asked more than the once for Na'an to upload her contribution--"
"And I'll keep saying what I said the last time--I don't need any more of your wiring in my head, thanks."
And suddenly Na'an was there, sidling past the table behind Leigh with a full tray in her hands. "Cao, tell Vilus to pipe down, we have some hashing to do and he's being obnoxious," she said briskly, shifting the tray to weigh against her hip. As she adjusted, she seemed to finally notice Kent, tiny and silent between the two hulking figures of her friends. Somehow, the kid had found the boldness to just walk right up and take a seat--even if she seemed to be dumb with nerves at the thought of her own audacity.
"Well, hello, little rabbit. Hope you don't mind sausages, they're Pavin's best." With a practiced move, she slid the first of two plates in front of the teenager, piled high with bread and fat, glistening links. The second plate went between Cao and Na'an, with a shotglass for each of the organics, and with the tray empty Na'an poured herself into the one remaining seat.
"So," she said, reaching for the bottle and pouring a measure of clear spirits. She looked up at her company, rubbing at the corner of her eyepatch; her good eye was clear and expectant in the dim candlelight. "That was a dramatic hour...so who wants to go first?"
Both the woman and the droid then waited, to see which of their guests would speak first.

I...I... I don't know why I came. This makes no sense. I don't know you, I know nothing about you, I don't know what you plan. Being here does not make any sense. I should have gone to another one of my places. But i feel like i should be here, like you have answers, like I belong here. I have never done this before, I only do things that make sense, things I can explain. Yet I am here... She takes a deep breath. What happened? There was to much going on there. None of it made any sense.
