Birth of the Skin Changer
The room hadn't been altered lately. Still, Jin's current favorite was a rather rude caricature of the Emperor. His most unflattering features exaggerated to the extreme, including little stinklines. Jin may be an adult now, but she was still a child at heart. She removed her boots while sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at Fiora take in her room. Smiling a little to herself and shaking her hand with a chuckle. There isn't anything new up there, Princess. So what are you going to use your power and freedom to do while I'm out?

Birth of the Skin Changer
Fiora let out a short, sad whine as Jin stated there was no new works. While she was no art expert, she did enjoy her best friends art. Even the one of her own father with stink lines. Some within the Empire would have lost their minds at the thought of such unflattering art existing of the Emperor. Such hardliner officials were, in her opinion, detrimental to the good the Empire did and could do. Truth be told, it was better such feelings were directed at a singular individual and not the Empire as a whole. The Throne could be filled with another, but the Empire should not fall. Chaos awaited them all should that ever happen.
She understood Jin's frustrations and would never hold them against her Best Friend. After all, Jin had stuck around when all the others had abandoned her and Fiora had distanced herself from her younger siblings Probably change my clothes again, given yours don't really fit me any longer... Maybe practice my art skills for if I change into you again, either accidentally or on purpose... I have some ideas for the subject of my drawings... Fiora did not have much skill in drawing, but it was never too late to practice and try to improve. And given how tired Jin looked, Fiora was certain she'd have plenty of time to herself

Jin yawned and smiled. She motioned vaguly toward the desk that looked like it had been hit with many paint filled balloons from all angles. Well, another yawn, I have an extra sketch pad in there... And some extra supplies... A big stretch. Just don't touch my good stuff. It's really hard to get those acrylics delivered here. But otherwise knock yourself out. Jin laid her head down and was almost out, before sitting bolt upright for one more reminder. Oh! And no going through my personal sketchbook. Got it? Jin didn't wait for confirmation before she collapsed back onto the pillow. Snoring soon issued from her mouth as she slept soundly.

Birth of the Skin Changer
Fiora walked over to the desk and started rummaging through it as Jin rambled on between yawns and stretches. She suddenly spun around and faced the bed as her Best Friend made clear to not go through her personal sketchbook before rather dramatically passing out at long last. A part of her was so very tempted to get the sketchbook and look through it to see what works Jin was jealously protecting. But Fiora had too much respect and love for her Best Friend to do that Thanks... Sweet dreams... She knew Jin couldn't hear the whispered words, but she had said them anyway. She then went back to retrieving the spare sketchpad and pencils, placing them on the desk for now as she then stripped down to a pair of underwear. Thankfully those still fit her snugly enough, while the rest of the clothes she discarded into what seemed to be a laundry pile. Not wanting to risk being locked out, she instead rummaged through Jin's closet and grabbed a button up shirt that she slipped on. Fiora then went over and collected the sketchbook and sat cross-legged on one of the chairs. Studying her captive subject, Fiora began sketching away

Birth of the Skin Changer
Jin slept soundly for many hours. In fact it was nearly time for most other people to head to bed by the time she woke up. Still sprawled out on top of the covers, Jin slowly started to regain consciousness. Lifting her head up for a looked around, refamiliarizing herself with the waking world. Then, as memories came back to her conscious mind, she checked if Fiora were still in her room drawing in her sketch book.

Birth of the Skin Changer
The hours seemed to pass by without Fiora really taking much notice of it. Neith had located her at some point near mid day and ensured that meals for both Lunch and Dinner had been delivered to Jin's room for her to eat. Fiora picked at the food as she focused on her drawings, starting over multiple times throughout the day. Either because the sketch wasn't going well, or because Jin had moved in her sleep. By the time her Best Friend awoke, Fiora was still seated cross legged on the chair in the shirt and underwear. Several pages of the sketch book were now filled with failed sketches, her latest attempt looking like it was about to join its brethren.
She looked up from the sketch and tucked a stray strand of red hair behind her ear, having meant to check a detail she was drawing when she found Jin awake and staring at her I was starting to worry nothing short of an apocalypse would wake you... Now don't move I just need to... She looked down at her drawing and grumbled, flipping the page over to a fresh sheet Never mind.... Morning sleepy head...

What Fiora asked her didn't click at first. In fact it prompted Jin to sit up even more with a, Huh? Before stretching some more. She looked over at the alarm clock on the desk and registered what time it was and then sighed heavily. Honestly I'm surprised you're still here. Couldn't find any other mischief to cause? I couldn't have been much fun. Jin's mind tried to capture the last vestiges of the dream she had had. Trying desperately to remember but all hope of that was lost when she looked at Fiora. Her eyes then moved from Fiora's face down to the sketch book, noting several pages already flipped over. Well, let's see it then. She said getting up and moving over to her friend, intending to offer some helpful pointers or to burst out laughing depending on how good or bad it was.

Birth of the Skin Changer
Fiora simply sat there, admiring her friend as she woke up and stretched, whilst knowing her drawing was now doomed. She smiled shyly as Jin commented about not being much fun Could I? yes... did I want to? no... Part of her wished she had the courage to say aloud that Jin was more fun than she realised. But she wasn't that confident and it was also a really terrible line. She instead just clutched the sketchbook to her chest as Jin rose from the bed and enquired abut the drawings Fiora had been doing over the last several hours. Her gaze drifted around the room to al of the amazing art pieces that plastered her Best Friend's room. Feeling a sense of inadequacy over her drawings in comparison. She had insisted upon practicing, to get closer to Jin's level of skill. Something which would be important if she as ever tested whilst assuming her Best Friends form for what ever reason.
She reluctantly surrendered the book to Jin. The drawings within started off very cartoonish and stick figured, like that of a novice artist or a child. Subsequent images ranged from very abstract to disproportioned and crude. Save for the last image which was, by far, the most skilled and accurate sketch. Whether Fiora could ever replicate that again, however, was another matter entirely. he rest of the work would indicate it was a rarity I... uhm... tried...I never was that good at drawing...

Jin took the sketch book in hand. She didn't try to hide her facial expressions as she started from the beginning and worked her way back. An... interesting style choice. Stick me has never looked better! She chuckled as she sat back down on the bed facing Fiora. But over the day's worth of hours, Fiora had improved in later sketches. Jin's amused expression transitioned into impressed. Coming finally to the last page she looked at it closely. The transition from teasing friend to art critique was clear. She studied the sketch carefully and picked out a couple things to note. Jin turned the pad so that her friend could see it too. You see here, the shading is just a little too dark. And these lines here? I can tell you drew those in a little heavily and it locked you in. You're on the right track. Though I would suggest practicing on something not prone to suddenly moving without warning. She passed the pad back to Fioara. Keep it up and you'll surpass me in that too. But it is very important that you practice daily if you can. It doesn't have to be much. Even if it's just something basic, or just exercises.

Fiora's ears took on a reddish hue as Jin started with the earliest sketches and commented on them. She knew Jin was merely poking fun, but a part of Fiora did seek her best friends approval of the art. After all, Jin was the expert in the field as far as Fiora was concerned. She lifted her gaze to study the image as Jin turned it for her to see and pointed out some room for improvement. She nodded as she took the sketch pad back, closing it and holding it tightly to her chest again. She smiled a little, feeling some confidence returning now that she had seemingly passed. At least for the time being Oh, I highly doubt that. Beginners luck and a very inspiring subject are all that I had... But I promise I will try to at least get closer to your skill... I definitely think I'll leave the interior decorating to you... Not sure I want some of my pieces plastered on my walls... well.. except for stick figure Jin, by your own admission... She chuckled a little, the embarrassment from before wearing off somewhat. She still felt awkward about it, but Jin did have a way of making her feel better

Like a gaunt, mangy cat wont to wander far and wide returning home to lick its wounds before setting out again, Katsumi returns to the Citadel of the Ren after a prolonged absence, setting her latest stolen ship, a battered A-wing, down in one of the citadel's hangers. Her dark, filthy, tattered robes and onyx-hued skull-like helm even more disheveled and dirty than normal, Katsumi stalks silently like a recently disinterred wraith from the hangar deeper into the citadel, clutching her left arm to her side, what remains of the armorweave wrappings around the arm stained with pus and hanging loosely, revealing the normally pallid skin beneath is seared near the elbow, inflamed and infected.
After a brief stop in a medical bay to procure what she needs to tend to her wounds and infection, Katsumi slinks towards where her personal quarters had been before, pleased to find that they have not been reassigned in her absence, more dusty yet just as spartan and devoid of any personal touches as she had left them when prompted by the whispering guidance of the Shadow to leave Prakith and go forth to do its bidding.
Hissing softly as she unwraps what remains of the armorweave cloth wound around her injured arm, Katsumi sets about debriding, cleansing and dressing the nasty Shiim that was very nearly a Cho Sun, smiling beneath her helm as she replays the memory of the duel that led to the wound, finding that the injury and resultant infection are a small enough enough price to pay for her victory over her opponent, whom she encountered unexpectedly at the end of her errands for the Shadow, rather like a treat to reward her for work well done. The wound will heal, after all, and the infection will pass, but Katsumi's opponent will not recover from the Sai Cha that ended their encounter.

Unlike her squire, Neith had immediately gone to sleep upon returning home from the mission earlier. Meaning she had awoken much earlier in the day to spend some much deserved time off which had been granted to herself and Jin. They would have a couple days to re-adjust their sleep schedules before being sent off again. Meaning Neith was still well awake as night fell over Prakith and the battered A-wing came limping into the Citadel. Neith wrapped up the meditation session she'd been in as she sensed the return of one of her sisters. Katsumi had not been seen in quite some time, but her name still remained unmarked upon the stone to indicate her death. It seemed her name would remain that way a little longer.
Neith glided along the hallways and corridors of the Citadel before arriving to Katsumi's quarters and activated the door controls. She folded her arms as she leaned against the frame and watched her sister tend to her wound. Suffice to say, someone or something had taken her well by surprise Welcome back sister... do you need a hand with that?

Seated cross-legged on the floor beside the bed, Katsumi looks up from her arm when the door swishes open, re-stirring the little clouds of dust that had been disturbed when she herself had entered the room earlier. Though her head remains tilted downward as she dabs at the pus leaking from the deeply seared strip of flesh above her elbow with a gauze pad, her eyes beneath the darkened, deep set onyx lenses of her grinning skull mask move towards the masked, feminine figure leaning against the door frame as her sister speaks.
Neith and Katsumi have never formally met or spoken, Katsumi's frequent unexplained absences making her something of an enigmatic oddity among the Ren, but they know of one another in the same osmotic way Force users joined in a common cause know of one another. Averse as she might be to asking for help, Katsumi knows that the remaining work of removing the dead tissue and bits of charred cloth and other debris from her wound will be difficult at best when its location would permit her the use of only one hand, a hand likely to be unsteady from fever, and so she gives a shrug of her shoulder and, her soft, lilting voice raspy from disuse, says, ::Oh, I would be ever so very appreciative, dear sister of mine, provided, of course, you can withstand the smell,:: referring to the odor emanating from her wound, though the warning applies equally well to the scent of smoke, mud, blood, sweat, and unwashed flesh and hair perfuming, as it so often does given the lack of priority Katsumi assigns to hygienic concerns, her tattered robes.

The Ren were not a very... formal Order like the Jedi or Sith. They came from many walks of life and were joined in a common cause and belief in balance and order. This, however, did not extend to a uniform code across their persons and living quarters. They were the blades with which chaos and disorder were cut out with. To combat some an affliction, they were permitted to indulge in different ways. There was no better way to defeat an enemy than to understand them. Such a lifestyle thus meant that you quickly learned to live with the quirks of your siblings. Neith smiled beneath her helmet as Katsumi accepted the offer of help That is what the helmet is for... She pushed off from the door frame and made her way across the room. She then took a cross legged seated position next to Katsumi as she scanned the supplies at hand before turning her attention to the wound. Having suffered a few injuries of her own and treated those of others fairly regularly, she got to work first by cutting away the damaged clothing. Something which allowed better access to clean out the more egregious debris from the cut and start cauterising the areas leaking pus. Infection was unavoidable, given Katsumi's proclivities, so Neith also made sure to administer a couple shots of high strength antibiotics Another successful mission I assume? Without even pausing, Neith produced a sterile scalpel blade and started to cut the necrotic tissue away. A shot of pain killers was nearby if needed

A raspy, merry chuckle sounds from Katsumi's throat as Neith jokes that her helmet will protect her from any assault on her olfactory senses that the festering wound or Katsumi's filthy state might make. Her head leans back to rest against the bed behind her as her sister enters the room and sits beside her, but Katsumi's sulfuric yellow tinged eyes follow Neith's movements from within the empty eye socket-like darkened lenses of her helm for a time.
The heat emanating from Katsumi's fevered body is evident as she tenses momentarily as Neith begins administering to her wounded arm, more from Katsumi's kittenish skittishness when it comes to being touched than from the pain brought about by the ensuing cutting and prodding required to clean and tend to her injury.
Nodding when asked if her return is a triumphant one, Katsumi replies in her soft, hoarse voice in her customarily blithe tone, an almost musical cadence to her words, ::Oh why yes, sister mine, though it was really more a series of missions than a single one by the time all was said and done. You know the way it can sometimes go; off you go when the Shadow whispers that there is a wee little mouse over there to be killed, and so you kill it only to see or maybe hear that another one is squeaking and scuttling away oh so invitingly nearby that it really ought to be killed too since you are near enough that not killing it would be such a shame, and, really, it might be a bother to the Empire someday anyway. One little cheeky, squeaky mouse was such a charismatic chap that he might one day inspire other mice to try and get up to some martial mischief aimed against the Empire, and since we really cant't allow that sort of thing, no, no, no, off I went to stalk and swat him. I rifled through his mind before I swatted him, since the Shadow whispered it was okay to play with my prey just a little on that particular day, and in his mind I found another naughty mouse, this one a sneaky little spy, that was doing horrid little spy things like cultivating assets that just might enable him to learn some Imperial secrets that it really wouldn't do to get out, and so off I went to get him, and his little assets too.::
Sighing with a theatrical exhaustion completely at odds with her pleased and cheery tone, Katsumi goes on with her tale after watching Neith's progress with her arm for a moment, ::And so on and on it went, until I had killed all the mice the Shadow whispered to me about. And do you know what happened next? A Jedi came along, one I met long ago who got away before I could finish playing with her. Oh, but this time, such fun we had together, my sister! She started by saying something righteous and oh so Jedi-ish, like "You will pay for your dastardly crimes, evil-doer!" To which I replied in the only way possible, conversations with Jedi being really rather dull after all, with a maniacal laugh as I ignited my saber while leaping right in and swinging away. It was really such a fun dance, and, she glances down at her arm, she even got one nasty bite in before it was done, but it had to end, naturally, and ended with her meeting her end, which was such a nice end to my time away, wouldn't you say?::
Tilting her head to the side to face Neith in a somewhat rare display of openly paying attention to something for more than a moment or two, Katsumi asks, ::And how have you and our dear siblings all been, sister, while I've been away? Have you any tales to tell? And is there any news about the state of the Empire I should know?::

Neith took her time administering the required medical aide to the wound, making sure Katsumi didn't pull away at a vital moment and ensuring the festering wound was well and truly tended to. Missing any small amount of infected skin would endanger her sister's life when it spread again. She cut and cauterised as needed while listening to what amounted to a mission debrief. Her helmet logging the story for later review by Harnan as he saw fit. Neith checked and examined the wound several times ensuring the necrosis was cut out to its root, the Force aiding her in finding even it's most deeply rooted corruption. She then started applying some bacta injections into some of the smaller incisions Quite the proficient rat catcher you are sister... I would be hard pressed to disagree that a mission ending with the death of another Jedi was anything but good. They are a vile infection... A necrosis that rots and destroys which must be cut out... Neith then got to work sewing some of the incisions closed before stitching the wound over and applying a bacta patch to assist with and speed up the healing process Your latest absence has been quite long. Harnan leads the Ren now, having taken over when Soku was incapacitated. The princess has begun her training and taken the name Fiora Ren... I've mostly been busy training her friend, Jin, to join her within our Order. hmmm... what else... She finished stitching the wound and applying the bacta patches and inspected her work, making sure it was well and truly up to scuff and would not get infected again Things have been pretty good for the most part. The Coalition is no more, and The Empire reigns supreme... I fear most of my tales are not quite so interesting as your own. Pirates and dissidents abound, but they all meet their timely demise by my blade or that of Jin's... There, all done. Your arm should survive, as will you. Just don't go running off again too soon sister. Such things need to heal...

Katsumi listens to her sister as Neith finishes treating her wounded arm thoroughly, taking in the news of all that has transpired whilst she was away with her head tilted to the side in an attentive manner. Much of what Neith shares is welcome news; the Coalition's demise in particular as it would seem that the Empire, as her sister's news overallĀ implies, finds itself without any opposition of real concern for the time being. That Harnan now leads the Ren is cheering to Katsumi, though she idly wonders if the role is to her brother's liking and how it is suiting him. Should she and Harnan chance to cross paths while she lingers in the citadel until wandering off once more, Katsumi supposes she might find out for herself. Most welcome of all is the news that both Neith and Harnan have taken on prospective Knights of their own, hearing that the Ren's ranks grow always something that Katsumi finds heartening.
Experimentally moving her arm around once Neith has declared her ministrations have reached their end, neither surprised nor discouraged to find it is somewhat stiff and certainly sore, Katsumi rasps softly, ::Thank you, sister mine. I am ever oh so glad to hear that I will keep the arm. I rather like it where it is, you know, and would miss it so. I have no plans to scamper off just yet, but never know, of course, when the Shadow will whisper that scamper away I must. Letting her arm rest atop her leg, Katsumi settles herself more comfortably against the side of the bed, finding the nausea from the antibiotics and the fever coursing through her oddly pleasant, in a way, as she says, I am glad, too, to hear that both here in our lovely citadel and within the Empire our gardens grow while those of our foes wither and die. If pirates and dissidents are the worst of the pests we need look after, I think we need not worry overmuch about our garden for the time being, which is ever so good, giving as it does you and Harnan time to better tend to our newest additions. How do you find, sister, teaching and tending to your budding prospective Knight? Do you find it agrees with you? I never have taken on a prospective myself. Some of us are better suited to catching rats than instructing after all.::

Neith got to work packing up the remaining supplies and collecting the trash into a pile for easier disposal. She pulled out a couple antibiotic shots and a replacement bacta patch and placed them on the bed Yes well, the loss of an arm would leave you weakened enough that another Jedi might take advantage and would you further, and that would just not do sister... Make sure you change the bacta patch 24 hours from now and leave the replacement on for another day. After that, the surface wound should be healed over enough. The shots should be taken in 8 hour intervals to fight the fever off. We might lose you even after saving your arm, and that just would not do... She zipped up the bag with the medical supplies and shovelled the trash into a rubbish bag while addressing Katsumi's queries For the time being, yes. But the Sith and Jedi have quite the habit of making themselves troublesome again with time... The Sith seek to dominate and rule with their fear, and the Jedi seek "freedom"... But yes, this lull does mean we have some more time to train Fiora and Jin to combat these threats when they show their heads once more. As for how I find teaching? Well... it keeps me busy between missions for sure. Despite her... feelings toward the Empire, she is a talented blade-wielder. She'll be surpassing us both soon enough if we're not careful... But you are correct, teaching is not for everyone. There is a skill to training those that will replace us one day... If you wish to catch our brother while you take some time to recover, I believe a trip to Byss should not tax you too much. Otherwise I believe he will be returning to Prakith in a few days...

Though Katsumi remains seated on the floor and leaning back against the side of the bed with her head tilted back as though she looks up at the ceiling, beneath the lenses of her grinning skull-like mask her eyes follow Neith as the woman cleans up the evidence of her work on Katsumi's arm as she explains what should be done to prevent the infection from worsening. While Katsumi finds her fevered state mildly albeit oddly soothing, she pays close attention to Neith's instructions all the same, despite the appearance that she is paying closer attention to the ceiling.
As Neith is talking about how the Jedi and Sith alike have shown a historical tendency to rise only to soon fall and vice versa, a seemingly endless cycle that will likely go on unbroken, which means one really shouldn't discount the possibility that either one or the other might pose some degree of threat when the spinning cycle reaches a favorable point for one or the other, Katsumi is casually reaching up onto the bed behind her with her uninjured arm, shivering a bit as she nods her understanding after Neith has helpfully explained that Harnan might be popping by in a few days. After taking the bacta patch and syringes of antibiotics from atop the bed, Katsumi lays them on the floor instead so that she can then pull the covers off of the bed and, once she has done just that, wraps herself up in them.
Laying down and unselfconsciously curling up within the recently liberated covers, Katsumi rasps softly,::Your student is ever so very lucky, sister, to have a you as wise and nuturing of our little garden's distinct, dark flowers as you are to help her grow into the Knight she was meant to be, provided, naturally, she is meant to be a Knight.::
Stretching out and then rolling sideways without warning to disappear into the shadows beneath the bed, Katsumi adds, ::Thank you again, dear sister, for tending to my arm. I am in your debt forevermore, truly, and so do hope I may one day find a way to repay you. And now, sweet sister mine, I really must sleep, so beg your forgiveness and bid you the very fondest of farewells until next we meet.::

Neith finished moving the bags out of the way and standing up as Katsumi collected her blanket and medicine onto the floor. She moved out of the way to allow her sister to roll under the bed. Not exactly the place she would have advised Katsumi sleep, but she wasn't about to argue the point Think nothing of any such debt. We are family, and thus we look after one another... Sleep well sister... She made her way out of the room, the door closing automatically behind her as she headed off through the Citadel. Her first stop was to dispose of the rubbish, while the second was t return the medical supplies to their proper place for the next person to use. A quick inventory adjustment was also made to ensure the used supplies were replaced. Menial tasks to be sure, but ones that could well save another life in the future as opposed to if she did not attend to them. Neith also made sure to forward her report and news of Katsumi's return to Harnan, in case the Master of the Ren wished to alter his travel plans to ensure he caught up with their wayward Sister
