Under the watchful eye of the academy's master healer, Jedi Master Nalatua'lin, the Corellian academy Infirmary is the best within the core systems. with several sick beds lining a sterile white walls. several Tanks filled with Bacta and Kolto, and the latest and best in Medical equipment shipped from Honoghr patients are assured to receive the best care possible.
And, for the odd occasion where a small child needs medical attention, there is a pediatrics wing with all the same equipment, just cartoon pictures plastering the walls to keep the children relaxed.

The medical facility is as he expected. Beds, droids, doctors and a faint residue of pain within the Force. It reaches out for those memories of pain, devouring them as a man dying of thirst drains a bottle of water. Just as quickly it has consumed them, and all that remains are the calm waves of the Light side that resonate through this place. And it recoils, not wanting to go where its presence is so outmatched.
For that reason, Aleranus walks that much faster into the room. This is the first time he has come to a place where it does not want to be. He will not pass up this opportunity to make it suffer.
As the doors open to him, he turns to the Jedi Master, a faint look of panic on his face as he searches his pocket with his free hand. "I have... some credits." His free hand produces a mixed jumble of coins, some of high value, many not so much. "How much for what needs doing here?"

As the Twi'Lek Healer lowered Diamonte Tuhlute onto the nearest unoccupied bed, she waved over a couple aids and quietly told them to run the usual diagnostic tests, in short, find out what seemed to be the matter. Then, she returned her attention to Auric and Aleranus.
"What happened to your co-pilot on the way in?" she inquired as Auric himself seemed to be alright.
Then, turning to Aleranus, she gently closed his fingers over the credits and pushed his fist back towards his pocket. "There is no charge for any of this. Jedi are always welcome in the academy." T'chunn, her left lekku tapped her shoulder, then curled toward her neck. She felt the area grow imperceptibly lighter in the Force as his satchel absorbed the residual memories of fear and pain that lingered in this place. Aleranus himself seemed a bit easier here. However, he seemed to be unfamiliar with Jedi society. Perhaps his master had kept him isolated.
She gently motioned the two of them to unoccupied sanisteam cubicles. After a long trip, getting cleaned up was very nearly necessary to personal comfort. At least, in her opinion. But then, she was meticulous in her ways.

As I walked in i had finally emptied my hip flask and returned it to where it belonged. looking down to Monte I chuckled.
" To the lad, nothing… I was the one that administered the Anesthesia. Boy was on the path to making what my employer saw as a bad decision. but i will let you hear all about it from the boy… who should be waking up within a couple moments if all factors coincide "
And saying my peace, i took a moments leave toward the cubicles, hopefully missing the boy's fury when he woke up

It certainly was not long that i was out… from my perspective. but then when you are under the influence of a Soporific that has the a similar texture as the Draught of Living Death… you tend to be a deep sleeper. as my eyes strained open they immediately shut in the sheer brilliance of the sterile titanium white used on every nook and cranny in the ward. when my eyes adjusted to the light, the first thing i was able to make out was a green twi'lek. Now, me being the ignorant fool i was, thought there could only be one green twi'lek that would serve in the jedi order.
"Good morning… Master Roma, what are you doing on the Blue Eagle?"
then cogs started to turn in my head. for one thing, This wasn't anyplace i recognized as being feasible. sure i was in a medbay, but if i was still on the ship, there would at least be some colors in the medbay. heck, sometimes i would get ushered towards the pediatric wing of the infirmary just so 'i could see all the pretty colors'. secondly, refusing the notion that i was on the BE, Master Roma had gone on some sort of spiritual journey some time ago before Mandalorian attack were more a reason to fear, and less the daily punchline of this holy war.
"Alright Auric, you can come out and tell me where we are…"

Coins once again jingling in his own pocket, Aleranus nods cautiously as he approaches the steam cubicles. A med droid pulls a privacy curtain into place for him and without waiting for the machine to leave, he begins stripping. First, the satchel, placed as close as it could be to the sanisteam cube. Bow, arrows, daggers, lightsaber hilt clink as they meet the table outside the cube. Bracers followed, then clothing. After a number of odd ripping noises like tape being pulled off of surfaces, he steps into the cube. Some things were universal even on backwater planets and among these were sanisteam cubes, and aside from a loud yelp at the initial blast of cold water, Aleranus quickly settled into a pleasant lull from the massage spray of warm water.
The med scanner built into the cube was working overtime while he enjoyed himself, though.
Seven lacerations across his back, suspected to be made by either a baby rancor or a wookiee from the estimation of the computer, infection around the general area of the wounds- trace amounts of antibacterial fluid saturated the area compared to a more substantive amount of vodka as a cleansing substitute. Right arm had a poor stitching job done on it, likely the source of the blood in the hangar. Bruised ribs along with one fracture in the lateral floating ribs. By the computer's diagnosis he'd been sent through the garbage compactor a few times for kicks, then arm wrestled a battle droid while drunk.
After a sanitizing spray keyed to focus on his back, the cube began to taper off its spray, leaving the boy to slowly pull himself out of his warm and fuzzy trance. He pauses, listening outside of the glass door to see if the other newcomer is being attended to. One eye drifts to the table of his items and he is initially shocked to find his impromptu wound dressings are gone. He'd stripped everything out of the ship's medical cabinet to make those dressings. Thankfully, his satchel was still present and still upset at its present environment. After shimmying back into his trunks, he slips out of the cube and quietly begins searching through the cabinet beneath his supplies for more medical dressings and short of that, anything which was made of absorbent material.

Over the years I've witnessed many reactions of people upon initially recovering consciousness. Not all of them are pleasant. Disorientation, pain, anger, loss...just to name a few. So, as Auric made good on his escape and Aleranus shortly followed him, I turned my attention to Diamonte Tuhlute. As much as possible I quickly heal his superficial injuries. I know he'll be conscious soon, but I hope that he will not come to fighting. As for Aleranus, it doesn't take any special skills on my part to see that he's feeling much better here. Oddly enough, I have the feeling that whatever he is carrying is equally not enjoying the Infirmary. T'chunn twitches sympathetically. As I hear a name called, I look up at Diamonte.
Hastening to reassure him, the Twi'Lek Healer moved closer, a small frown wrinkle creasing the skin over her nose and between her carefully drawn eyebrows. "I am Master Nalatua'lin of the academy here on Corellia. You are in the infirmary. Perhaps you remember what happened before Auric tranqed you?" her calm, exotic voice inquired, as she gently took his hand.
"Ah... Aleranus." She looked over and greeted him, "Feeling better? If you like I can attend your injuries, heal you without scaring." She winked, "Unless you wish to be attracting the ladies?"

Aleranus blinks at the Jedi Master's offer. The droid seemed to wheel away the privacy curtain as soon as he put some pants on, leaving him bare-chested in public as he gathered his things. He pauses in his search of the medical cabinets, considering the questions before standing and facing the Jedi Master once again. She is an enigma to him. Aleranus envisions the Jedi in much the same vein as Ceri Velit was to him, but Ceri had long ago strayed from the Jedi Order. Where Ceri had been focused with zeal, purpose and fury, this Jedi, this Nalatua'lin, was seemingly more open and adaptable. Perhaps that was one reason why this woman still lived whilst being a Jedi and Master Velit was now one with the Force. Certainly, his Burden delighted in the death of Master Ceri, and it had an opinion about Jedi Knights. But Aleranus is aware that the Burden's opinion is skewed at best.
"I will be happy with healing, but..." For another second he lets his guard down, looking to the floor as he scratches behind his neck, pale skin turning a heavy shade of pink. "I need no scarring- I scar myself as Master instructs." He gestures to the spiral tattoos lining both arms, though not to the inked patterns woven across his neck. "Why... why would I want to attract ladies? Is this part of being Jedi?"

As i tried to sit up, a quick pulse of a headache caused me to screech out and lay back out.. unfortunately the first words out of my mouth were to request a glass of water and a dose of aspirin to lower the pain. once i could sit up without the entire student section of a college nuna-ball would swarm my frontal lobe celebrating a trip to a championship, i nodded.
"Yeah, i remember what happened. I was meeting at a Rendezvous with my tech supplier, informing him of my decision in light of the destruction of a secret jedi base. I was invited to partake in a glass of tea that my host said would 'clear my mind'… and bob's your uncle… here i am"

Nalatua'lin smiled warmly at Aleranus' confusion and embarrassment. And then she began wielding the Art of the Small, manipulating the Force and enhancing growth of skin cells and ruptured veins and arteries, healing the padawan's cuts and scrapes much faster than natural if left alone. From a supply cabinet she took a traditional sandy-coloured tunic that appeared to be his size and handed it to him. It smelled ever so faintly of lavender. Vague worry flashed through stormy grey eyes as she contemplated him.
I know not of this Ceri Velit, but I sense that her perception and embodiment of the Jedi Code seem to be more Sith-like in their tendencies as far as I can yet make out. I am disturbed, and worried for this Aleranus. He has potential. What Jedi insists upon scarring? Those of us that choose to carry our hereditary tattoos do not pass these along to our padawans. Jedi should be around other Jedi. This impresses itself upon me yet again. It is necessary to sample from a diversity. Aleranus' master seems to have enjoyed conflict and sought out war and danger, and unless I am mistaken, she has given him a grave burden to carry, one that may drag him down a path from which...well, if return is possible, it is not easy. And often it is only achieved after great pain and loss.
Her lekku twitched sympathetically. "No, not as such, Aleranus. It is part of being male." She smiled. Twi'Leks were often bought and sold as companions of pleasure, and as such many viewed them as being a people of uniform sensuality, far less prudish than humans, so to speak. "Though, attachment is not forbidden within the Jedi Order since Luke Skywalker reformed it. Love can make us stronger. But naturally, it can also make us weak if we are not careful. Attraction is natural." She gently placed a hand on his shoulder, moving slowly so that he would not feel threatened, but with a lithe grace that was born from within. "You are yet young to worry about this."
"You spoke of a mission. Have you any idea whom it is you have been sent to find? What does the Force tell you?" She inquired.
For Diamonte, in addition to the glass of water and aspirin, she took a small bottle, uncorked it, and poured a few drops of a strong essence of peppermint on a handkerchief and offered it to him. "The scent helps open the blood vessels in the brain, it may ease your headache." Generally headaches are caused from forms of dehydration that cause the blood vessels to shrink and cause pain as a result of the constriction.
Secret Jedi base? He must have been referring to Carida. T'chinn and t'chunn spasmed momentarily, then settled. She had felt many lives snuffed out quickly. Jedi dying. And then Yavin 4. Nalatua'lin was worried. "How many escaped?" she quietly inquired.

i cast an eye on Nala. Carida was a secret operation, only those people directly involved, and those that they told knew of the base's location… still the force was something that was not understood in the fullest sense. Obi-wan knew that he felt the pain of those destroyed by alderan, but that was millions. for the moment i took the handkerchief and held it to inhale the fumes.
"In terms of casualties, although the formal report only lists that 1301 died, i can attest that every… force user, that was trusted with the base's secret, made it out ok… save for one being."
there was a pit in me, kind of like the feeling i was alone. Puck had been my truest friend, and now he was gone. sure he had "died" once before, but that time… i could sense him trying to come back… this time… i couldn't even feel his presence

I could hear Monte's first word as i got changed and stepped back out of the refresher. the words he spoke, were true… but they were a negative spin. so with a laugh i changed the story
" The kid is too humble, he has left out the part that it was his genius that helped to prep the base for an occurrence of an attack. and beyond that, he was the brains of the base during the attack controlling every automated system to target any intruder. "
looking my former padawan square in the eyes i spoke the hard truth that i felt he needed to hear.
" I am sorry that your companion died. but honestly, do you belief that if it had followed your orders, you would have even made your way out of the base. That toy gave whatever energy it had to save the most important figure it new in it's life… you. "

OOC: Please excuse the lack of fancy colors. Posting from my iPhone.
IC: Aleranus shivers slightly, feeling the art of Jedi healing applied to his back. For a moment he releases the tension in his whole body. Slouching forward as he dons the Jedi tunic, between the easing of pain, the warmth of the tunic and the soothing scent, he had no problem with the Twi'lek master laying a hand on him.
"I'm not certain. She did not say who her previous master was, only that I was to follow where it led and to inform the Temple of its existence. I follow her will, even after her death."
His head lulling forward, Aleranus frowns at the master's words about attachment.
"The... attachment. It is a flaw, I was told. We hunted them, and they would take form of their prey's beloved oftentimes. Master has said not to seek attachment. With any one or any thing."
He points to the spiral tattoo wound round his neck. At a glance, one would be hard pressed to define the shape as that of vines or wound rope. Black as twilight, his pale skin peeks out occasionally from spaces to create a runic pattern within the vines.
"Is why she give me this. The only useful... thing from The Book."

The Jedi Healer could tell that the one who Diamonte had referenced had been very close to him. It was interesting to watch the interplay between him and Auric though. It was a bit like the Master/Padawan relationship still existed between them even though they held the same title now. Nala considered for a moment or two, but there really was no good reason to detain them here. She glanced over at the chronometer, "Master Ulshade, if you are looking to familiarize yourself with the Corellian Academy, odds are you'll find a few of them gathering in the Mess Hall for food about now. We've also got a couple other recent arrivals."
For Diamonte though, she thought another moment. There was someone it might help him to talk to, and she should be back soon. "If I'm not mistaken, Master Jade will be returning soon from Coruscant." Judging from his unwillingness to discuss Carida, she left it at that, figuring that he could connect the dots for himself since he had probably seen her there.
Evidently the view of Aleranus' master had been very strict and her influence from beyond was still in full force. At some point though, he'd have to start making his own decisions about his life. The Jedi Order during the Old Republic had eschewed all attachments in a similar fashion to Ceri Velit. And a very strong argument could be made that this was a major factor in the downfall of the Jedi during the rise of the Empire. The Twi'Lek folded her arms in front of herself and paid attention to Aleranus calmly. "It is not an abnormal point of view, though perhaps a century late by now. It seems that you have a strong attachment to Master Velit after all. While one should not go out of the way to 'seek' attachment, it may come to pass naturally in a beneficial manner." She did not know exactly how to explain that with allies and friends, one is stronger than when isolated and alone, because she felt that this was precisely the teaching his master had instilled in him.
"And what does this do for you?" she inquired quietly, suspecting she knew not what, but having a bad feeling nonetheless. However, she did admire, academically, the inverse nature of the tattoo itself as a bit unusual.

I smiled at the master healer. I was being shooed out the infirmary… but at least i wasn't being admonished like i was the one that had put the soporific in Monte's tea. bowing I grabbed my satchel and prepared to leave
" I will do so. thank you for your hospitality "
I knocked on the foot of Monte's bed and smiled at him before exiting the infirmary.
" Take care kid, i will talk with you later "

Aleranus blinks, briefly unsure of himself and the words of his master. TheJedi had been very careful to describe the many ways fear of any kind would see them destroyed by their enemies. When your opponent could be as intangible as the air and as real as anyliving nightmare, when their power was literally any power you chose to give them, to be in control of one's own mind was paramount to survival.
"Attachment..." he said. "No. She bought me. Then she trained me to serve our purpose. I respected. I obeyed. I followed. But I did not love and neither did she. When death took her, I obeyed and brought her life's work here."
He senses the package still trembling, still recoiling from this place. It is outmatched and uncomfortable here. Very good then. With a free hand he begins to unravel the leather bindings of the satchel with a sense of delicacy and urgency. It is wrapped in a second layer of leather which he quickly folds aside, revealing... a book. No, something far more ancient. A tome, inscribed in old Sith pictograms on its front cover.
"Master Velit called it the 'Xi'Zi'Kai.' It is an old Sith book from beyond the Outer Rim. Used to summon Sith Shadow demons. Each one given name and form by a page within. Master inherited this book- from who or where I do not know. But from the book she gave me this-" he points again to the tattoo."It is used by the summoners to control them. It wards me against fear. And because I do not fear, I do not give them power, and so can hunt the others which remain loose from its pages- 22. And at least one is here, on Corellia."

I smiled at Nala's hospitality. for the moments thus far that i had been awake, she had been kind in spirit towards me. but for the moment i began to feel the twangs in my heart regarding … well i wasn't sure what was troubling my heart.
taking a moment to register what Master Nala had said, i smiled
"I would like that… but i need some time for introspection… i haven't had a moment of stillness for five months."
as i rose to my feet i made it as far as the edge of the bed before my legs tried to give out beneath me. i used anything that seemed sturdy as my was to the door. spying a cane, i looked at napa one more time
"I'm … gonna borrow this."
with the words out of my mouth i slowly made my way out of the room and towards some area that was outdoors.

There was no problem with Diamonte's appropriation of the cane. As was the case in most infirmaries there was a supply of canes, crutches, etc for the use of patients who needed them. Doubtless he would find solace in one of the many places of meditation and contemplation around the Temple here.
Nala eyed Aleranus with empathy as well as a deep-seated unease. He was a slave? This was contrary to the basic tenets of the Jedi Code, and for a Master to buy a Padawan... this was unheard of. T'chunn shuddered while t'chinn wrapped loosely around her neck. Twi'Leks, as a race, were often viewed as a slave populace since they did make good dancers and were very open and comfortable with sexuality in general. In fact, sometimes the 'decorative' bands that criss-crossed down their lekku were used to control them via application of pain to their sensitive 'brain-tails.'
Nalatua'lin herself was worried about Aleranus, but she was at a loss about what to do. He had not asked her for help, and he seemed not happy, but at peace with his situation. This perhaps was what unnerved her the most. She listened while he explained about the book, and she'd get back to that, but for now, there were more pressing things on her mind. Namely, the idea of a Jedi slave.
"Ceri Velit had a---" she hesitated, trying to think of any other way to put it, but coming up blank, "slave padawan? Pardon me, I mean no insult to you personally, Aleranus, but, this is a blatant violation of the Jedi Code. A master and padawan should have a specially close relationship that benefits them mutually and is entered into by the free choice of both master and padawan..." her voice trailed off, evincing her concern and the worry in her grey eyes.

Aleranus shrugs slightly, suddenly self conscious again.
"Slave? No. Servant, she said. I do not... That is- before she had me..."
He sought to reassure the Jedi Master that he was not a true slave. But the words did not come. The fact was, he did not know how to convince her. And he wondered if it was even necessary to defend who he was.
"Before the Master bought me, I do not remember. And I do not want to. Master Velit required one to carry on her purpose. To continue the Hunt. She saw me as the one to do so. Was this- was she wrong to select me for the Hunt?"

"Time will tell," was the enigmatic answer returned to his query. Fundamentally the Jedi did not start conflict or seek out wars. Though, often they ended up involved. The difference lay in whether it was a pre-emptive strike or a defensive war. The Jedi were to defend and protect. Still, the young lad in front of her was just that, young. He had plenty of time left. And one could not read the future with certainty.
"You are welcome to reside at this academy and continue your training, for as long as you desire." Obviously he seemed to be set on a war-like path, but he probably had not completed his training. After all, he was still a padawan.
"The key is balance, I would posit, Aleranus," the statuesque Jedi Healer put forth, "it does not seem that you have had much experience or opportunity to evaluate the many avenues of service there are within the Jedi Order. Of course, this does not exclude you from your Hunt." She knew that this was important to him, but it seemed that in a desire to honor his Master, his own life had been entirely subsumed. Nala was concerned that he would not have much inner peace or contentment if he continued with a fixation that neared obsession upon his quest at this time.
