Frowning pensively as, concluding her account of what has giver rise to their return from their long absence from galactic affairs, Aellemere observes that the Th'tremsi have sensed the Dark Side's increasing prevalence in the universe, I nod soberly when she finishes speaking yet manage a smile as I sincerely say, "It would seem the timing of the Th'tremsi's return is fortuitous indeed; though I believe it has less to do with fortune, and more to do with the Ashla's influence. I, for one, am glad to have you at our side once more as we face what is come."

Re-entering the dining facility of the academy, Kay'li glanced around the room at the various small groups sprinkled around the room, but her attention was quickly drawn to the familiar, petite form of the green Twi'lek Serrin Roma, one of the head masters of the academy, and her decidedly unfamiliar companions. The pair of tall, willowy, white-skinned alien women had almost a lavender tone to their glowing skin, and were dressed in the golden wardrobe of a warrior culture, decorated with something that looked like gems. Moreover, they had horns - not braintails like a Twi'lek, but something more like an Iktochi, only less pronounced. As much as she had studied Xenobiology, the Jedi Knight had never seen a species like this.
Stepping forward slowly, she approached the table, trying mightily to hide her curiosity.

Johun walked into the dining hall, pausing as he entered to observe the room. He had been stagnant here at the Academy for too long. He needed to do more here or do something elsewhere. Corellia would always be his home, no matter what the Force dictate he do or go...

Corellia would always be his home, no matter what the Force dictate he do or go... Kay'li glanced back toward the door as her fellow Jedi Knight entered the academy's dining facility. She was still curious about Master Roma's alien visitors, but it didn't look like she needed to be in a hurry about that. They weren't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, they seemed to be making themselves at home, and they were deep in conversation. Johun, on the other hand, was alone, and looking around the room uncertainly, as if waiting for something to happen."Long time, no see, Johun." She greeted him, smiling. "How are you? How has the Force been treating you?"

Johun smiled back at Kay'li. It had been a long time.
I am well. Ashla treats me well. And yourself?

"Quite well, thank you. Ashla has blessed us all with peace in our sector." She gestured to the building around them, although her meaning was greater, indicating all of Corellia, and all of the Five Worlds. "And yet, I remain on watch, as is my duty." She glanced from Johun to the buffet line across the room. "Were you here to eat, or just looking for friends?" The smells wafting across the room were stirring up a gnawing hunger within the young woman.

I hadn't decided. I was hoping to find Master Roma, but Johun scanned the room again. I don't see her here.

After the Th'tremsi and I have finished speaking, after which I had led them on a brief tour of the academy and then reunited them with those of their people who will be remaining here at the academy so that they can exchange any farewells before the leaders of their delegation depart to continue their mission, I decide to return to the dining hall for a relaxing cup of Naris-bud tea before I too resume my duties, the administrative side of being one of the academy's headmasters something that can at times require a great deal of my time, though I have, since my return from Bimmisaari, found that busying myself with academic affairs and the other concerns a headmaster of a Jedi academy must manage afford me an escape from dwelling too much on the not-as-yet-distant-enough-for-time-to-have-healed-the-wounds-recently-inflicted past.
Entering the dining hall I smile when I see Kay'li and Johun speaking together, their faces a welcome sight to behold as I have yet to have met with either since my return and am therefore eager to learn of how they have been. Offering a bow that includes them both, I smile as I greet my friends, "Kay'li, Johun, it is a pleasure to see you both! It has been far too long. I trust you are both well? Tell me, what have you each been up to since last we met?"

Johun returned the bow.
Master Roma, good to see you. To be honest I haven't been up to much. I was in the process of teaching some padawans, but they seem to have disappeared. Currently I have no set tasks.

Tchin, my right lekku, coils itself more tightly about my bicep when Johun speaks of disappearing padawans, and it is only with a great deal of effort that I am able to confine my visible reaction to the subject to such a small, subtle tic that I hope goes unnoticed. Arching the thin ridge of muscle over my right eye inquisitively, I elect to confine my response to the news of the disappearing padawans to a simple 'hmmm' which gives Johun the choice to elaborate or leave the matter alone as he sees fit.
Turning to the other subject Johun has broached, I begin by picking up where Johun had finished speaking, "No set tasks? Perhaps we ought to see if any tasks needing to be done are of any interest to you, hmmm?"

I am only here to serve Master Roma, in whatever capacity Ashla wants.
Johun doesn't elaborate on the disappearing padawans. Johun knows they are safe, but no longer wished to advance in their Jedi training and returned back to their homes.

"Well said, I tell Johun with a smile, reaching out to clasp his shoulder companionably. There are, in fact, more than a few matters requiring attention, I begin while pursing my lips in thought as I consider all that the Jedi Order must address in light of all that has been learned as well as those things suspected based upon, for the moment, conjecture or rumor. Opting to give Johun some degree of choice in what he is assigned, I decide to narrow the possibilities down by asking him, Do you feel you are better suited to - or are you perhaps drawn more to - investigative matters, or to more . . . immediately actionable orders of business?"

I smiled back at Mater Roma.
I prefer matters of investigation, as it generally allows for traveling. I do enjoy seeing the Galaxy.

"Well then, I believe, I say while lifting an arm to gesture towards a nearby table to suggest we should take a seat, that I may just have an investigation the Order needs to conduct which you might find most interesting. After we have taken a seat, I take a sip of my tea and then, to ascertain what Johun knows of the region I intend to send him to, begin by asking, How familiar are you with the Deep Core?"

Johun joined Master Roma at the table.
Only what I studied during my education here at the Academy. I can't recall any travels there.

Nodding as Johun explains that his knowledge of the Deep Core is, beyond what he had learned while studying here at the academy, not extensive, I frown while considering whether that might hamper his ability to investigate what I have in mind, ultimately deciding that it is not likely to affect his ability to look int the matter I propose to task him with investigating.
"Should you accept the assignment I have in mind, you will be able to add the Deep Core to your list of travels. Taking another sip of tea, pondering where it is best to begin, I set the cup down after a moment, beginning, As I trust you're well aware of, the Republic is, as of several weeks ago, no more. What you may not yet know is that their dissolution has left many of their affairs in . . . disarray. Waving a hand, more to remind myself not to become too focused on matters that are ultimately tangents, I continue, Two days ago the remnants of the Battlegroup Pertinax, formerly attached to the Galactic Republic's Core Fleet, arrived in Corellia's orbit to request assistance from the Corellian government. Pertinax had survived a battle over Foerost in the Deep Core with an enemy fleet Pertinax's commander believes to have been an Imperial faction of some kind; one of many that are believed to roam the Deep Core. Republic intelligence did in fact know of an Imperial Remnant faction that was once centralized in the Deep Core, and as you yourself may know the former Galactic Empire had holdings within the region. The fleet Pertinax faced was comprised of Pellaeon-class Star Destroyers as well as Ardent-class Fast Frigates. Pertinax's commander was unable, unfortunately, to ascertain where the enemy fleet might have originated or been based from, nor did they gain any intel on how many factions might exist."
Lifting a hand to gesture towards Johun, I explain, "The Order needs to investigate these suspicions, to learn whether or not there are indeed Imperial factions still operating in or possibly out of the Deep Core, and if so, whether there is any centralized leadership behind them, and where they are based from if at all possible. Would you be willing to undertake such an investigation?"

Johun listened as Master Roma spoke. This was troubling indeed. If the Imperial Remenemts were operating in the area, their power could grow quite rapidly with the dissolution of the Republic.
I should begin at Foerost then?
Johun smiled at Master Roma, as he said this, affirming his acceptance of the task.
Is there any other information at all.

Returning Johun's smile with one of my own, I incline my head slightly in a bow to express my gratitude for his acceptance of the assignment. "Were it me undertaking the investigation in your stead, Foerost is where I would begin. It is possible the world was targeted for its shipyards, which would be an asset for any military force. If there are indeed Imperial factions operating in the Deep Core, it is also possible that the people of Foerost have information, or may have heard of other planets in the Deep Core with information regarding the Imperial factions. Offering a frown equal parts concerned and stern, I caution Johun, Be careful. There is no way to know how much of a presence the factions might have in the Deep Core, or how much sympathy for them might remain among the denizens of the Deep Core worlds. I suggest keeping as low a profile as possible, perhaps traveling incognito rather than openly as a Jedi. Your chances of successfully delving into this investigation may increase the more you think like a Jedi Investigator rather than as a Watchman. But, I smile, lifting a hand towards Johun, I trust your judgement as to how you ultimately elect to conduct your investigation, so do as you feel it best to do so. Trust your instincts, for Ashla often subtly guides us through them. If there is anything you need before setting out, do not hesitate to ask."

Johun ponders Master Roma's advice.
I have an old freighter I can use for transportation.
Johun stood and bowed slightly to Master Roma.
Are only of the crew of the Pertinax available for Intel?

Entering the dining hall I smile when I see Kay'li and Johun speaking together, their faces a welcome sight to behold as I have yet to have met with either since my return and am therefore eager to learn of how they have been. Offering a bow that includes them both, I smile as I greet my friends, "Kay'li, Johun, it is a pleasure to see you both! It has been far too long. I trust you are both well? Tell me, what have you each been up to since last we met?" "It is good to see you once more among these halls." Kay'li exclaimed, her face lighting up at the sight of the green Twi'lek woman. She had heard of Master Roma's return, and had seen her from a distance several times, but had yet to greet her. "Welcome home." She continued, as she returned the bow, hesitated, then reached out to give the petite Jedi half of a hug. "I have continued to watch over the Corellian system, visiting each world in turn, and I am happy to report that we have had a period of peace on all of the Five Brothers." Her eyes shifted to the cafeteria buffet, of which she still had failed to partake. "Excuse me a moment." You could always count on a Raganella to be hungry.I smile, lifting a hand towards Johun, I trust your judgement as to how you ultimately elect to conduct your investigation, so do as you feel it best to do so. Trust your instincts, for Ashla often subtly guides us through them. If there is anything you need before setting out, do not hesitate to ask." Returning with a fruit-flavored muffin in one hand and a steaming cup of stimcaf in the other, the Jedi Knight returned to the conversation just in time to here the tail end of Master Roma's assignment for her fellow Knight. "Likewise, if I may be of any assistance, please let me know. And may the Force be with you." She was still processing what Master Roma had said about the Republic's scattered military, and their discoveries in the Deep Core. The demise of the Republic wasn't exactly breaking news at this point, but it still seemed, somehow, more final now that a respected Jedi Master had acknowledged the facts.
