The faintest hint of a smile, bitter and cruel, appears on the Trandoshan Jedi Master's scaly face as he watches their as yet unknown attackers reach what they appear to believe is the safety of the enclave's interior. "Now," the Trandoshan growls raspily, lifting a claw-tipped hand in front of him and then violently splaying his fingers outwards. Eight Jedi Knights and Masters, arrayed behind the cover of the marble columns lining the second floor balcony, mirror the Trandoshan's hand and arm motions, their combined efforts through the Force shattering several massive columns on the first floor and sending a veritable storm of chunks of jagged marble - large pieces that can crush and smaller pieces that will act as shrapnel - towards their attackers. No sooner has the Trandoshan completed the first stage of the Jedi's defensive tactic, than he moves on to the next, lifting both arms upwards and then swinging them viciously downwards. As before, the Trando's eight fellow Jedi mirror his movements, and their combined effort sends a large section of the ceiling crashing down upon their attackers . . .
Gritting her teeth as she sees the truth of her twin's assessment of the situation, Kaiya calls out to her sister, "Well, let's make what little time we have left really friggin' count then, vod." Her eyes narrowing in concentration, Kaiya calls out to the Force to lend its guidance to her movements and decisions as she selects angles of fire to send a last rain of death and destruction down upon the enemies moving towards the enclave. . .

*Ellie gave a predatory grin and brought the gunship in for another pass. This time however she aimed the ships main guns on the advancing army. Gently squeezing the trigger, she felt the heartbeat like thumps of the ships canons roar to life.*

*The sound of ruble crashing down on them brought the column to a halt. Chunks of ceiling, pillars and other concrete began to rain down on them. Some soldiers raised their shields to deflect small debris and pieces. Others dodge out of the way, some not quick enough only to be crushed by larger chunks. The was leader, however, stood firm. Raising his left hand, he concentrated on what was around him. Several large and small pieces falling towards him simply froze in mid air. Around him a handful of others had done the same. From the back of the column, he could her more screams of pain as cannon fire tore into the remaining troops outside. That not longer mattered, the only thing that did now was the Trandoshan in front of him. Raising his pike, he gave a loud primal yell and charged forward. His shout was joined by dozens of the survivors. As one they dropped their rifles and drew out vibroblades and other close range weapons, each capable of withstanding multiple lightsaber strikes. Shields raised and weapons drawn, they made charged with the war leader. Today they were going to make their mark. Today they would die with honor.*

The Trandoshan Jedi Master and his eight companions have little time to consider the implications of what the fact that at least one of their attackers appears to be Force sensitive could mean, for there is little pause between the revelation and the renewed charge of their foes. The Trandoshan ignites his blue hued lightsaber, his fellow Jedi following suit, and then points the humming blade towards their attackers as he begins his own charge towards them. The Trandoshan leading the charge, the Jedi form a loose semi-circle to try and force their attackers to confine their movements into a somewhat restricted area that the Jedi can then narrow further and further until they can fully surround their foes and then destroy them all.
Onboard her twin's gunship, Kaiya frowns as they complete another attack run upon the enemies surging towards the enclaves entrance, and then calls out to Ellie, "They've reached the interior! The Masters and Knights inside will have to deal with them now. We should probably try and take out their artillery before they do any more damage!"

*The wall of soldiers, with their shields raised, crashed into the charging Jedi. Chaos erupted in seconds as both sides clashed. Standing in the center was the war leader, soaking in the battle around him. His dark eyes were on the Trandoshan Jedi. This was the battle he sought, the one he wanted. With a yell he moved forward, closing the distance in a heartbeat. The pike in his hands struck out like lighting to test his opponents defenses. He also wanted to see if his opponent was a worthy one.*

*Ellie bit her lower lip as she saw what remained of the army enter the temple. As much as she wanted to join the fight below, she knew her sister was right. Pulling the gunship into a wide turn, she brought it around to face the artillery. By now only one tank remained and four droids. The remaining tank continued its assault on the temple while the droids fired at anything that got to close. Ellie line the gunship up on the closest droid and fire. Blaster bolts peppered the droid and the ground around it. In seconds the droid itself went up in a ball of fire and shrapnel. Ellie gave a victory yell before shouting into her comlink.* "Vod! Get up her. We have a concussion missile with that tanks name on it, but I can't fire it myself!"

The discordant screeching of lightsabers howling and spitting almost as though in anger against enemy shields or pikes, the grunts of exertion or cries of pain or rage, and the clattering or shuffling of feet against the rubble strewn floor fill the air as the Jedi and their enemies meet and clash, the battle fierce and fast, with no quarter asked for or given on either side. At the front of the Jedi, in the middle of the two groups where the fighting is thickest and most brutal, Mahavir, the Trandoshan Jedi Master the war leader seeks to single out, can be found.
The powerfully built Trandoshan slams a muscular shoulder into the shield of an enemy soldier, the lightsaber in his other hand hissing as it keeps the soldier's pike at bay, and his cold, pitiless, reptilian eyes meet those of his opponent as he drives him back into a wall, and then tears the shield from his grasp with a claw-tipped hand that then rises with a swiftness only the Force can grant to tear out the soldier's throat. Mahavir is turning to find his next target even before the body of his last has hit the floor, and he sees the blur of motion of the war leader's pike just as the Force warns him of the impending threat. Sliding his right foot around towards the back of his left, Mahavir crouches slightly so that he turns his left side towards his foe and the pike pierces only the air. Swinging his right arm viciously upwards, Mahavir's lightsaber keening hungrily in his hand, the Trandoshan hopes to take the arm that sent the pike towards him from the fool that has actually sought to engage him in single battle. . .
"On my way! Kaiya shouts back to her twin, sending a last volley of well placed fire towards their enemies before she runs towards the cockpit to join her sister. Dropping into the co-pilot's seat, her hands immediately extending to find the concussion missile system's targeting controls, Kaiya is soon rewarded with a high pitched beeping tone as the system achieves a lock on the enemy tank. A grim, determined frown on her face, Kaiya thumbs the missile release control, "Missile away, vod. Let's finish the rest of these schutta."

*The war leaders strike smashed heavily into the floor, cracking some of the tiling as it did. His eyes barely left his opponent as he moved away. Swiftly he tried to move his hand out of danger. The lightsaber glanced across his right forearm up to his hand, cutting off his pinky and part of his ring finger. He let out a grunt of both anger and acknowledgement of his opponents skill. Rapping his staff on the ground, he continued his assault. Moving quickly at the Jedi, he brought the pike in for a wide swing. Around him his remaining army was dwindling, surrounding him with the bodies of both friend and foe.*
*The concussion missile roared from the gunship and screamed across the open space to its target. With in seconds the missile reached its target, turning it into a ball of fire and shrapnel. The explosion from the take took one of the droids with it. Ellie let out a woop of excitement as she brought the ship around for another pass. Leveling the ship out, she let lose the ships. The cannons roared in anger as the demolished the remaining hostiles outside the temple.*
"That looks like the last of them out here. Kinda seems like their mopping up the rest inside. Can't be to many left."

Mahavir gives his opponent no break from the battle, the end of one attack flowing with rapid fluidity into another; and so it is that, as Mahavir had dropped his left hand from his lighsaber hilt after completing his upward swing so that he could slide a foot backward to put enough distance between himself and his opponent in order to make a quick thrust for the sternum of his foe, war leader's pike impacts with the Trandoshan's lightsaber when a flick of the wrist enables the Jedi Master to covert an attacking blow to a defensive one. As pike and lightsaber meet and lock together in a keening screech accompanied by a shower of sparks, Mahavir swings his left arm swiftly to powerfully jab his claw-tipped fingers for the throat of his foe . . .
Joining her triumphant cry to that of her twin as the explosion heralding the end of the threat posed by the enemy tank rumbles and roars, Kaiya reaches up to wipe some sweat from her brow as Ellie brings the ship around to make another pass at their enemies. A predatory grin lifts the right corner of her lips as Kaiya nods in agreement with her sister, "Gar serim, vod. I say we set this thing down and go help with the mopping. Let's pirunir sur'haaise!"

*The strike from the Jedi Master almost caught the war leader completely off guard. He raised his left arm as quickly as he could, his metallic forearm meeting the Trandoshians flesh and blood arm. The block wasn't quick enough to block any damage, however, as the Jedis claws sank into the war leaders neck. Grabbing ahold of the Jedi's arm, he used the strength of his prosthetic arm to push the arm away from his neck. He gave a wild grin as blood ran down his neck and began to soak his clothes. Gripping the Trandoshians forearm as hard as possible in an attempt to break it, he shoved the pike forward as hard as he could.*

*Ellie gave a laugh at her sisters enthusiasm. Bringing the ship around, she angled it into a quick decent directly in front of the academy. She reduced the speed and leveled out the ship abruptly enough to almost toss her back into her seat. Lower the landing gears, she landed the ship and set it on standby. Standing up, she pulled her lightsaber off her belt and began to run for the back of the ship* "Come one vod!" *The loading ramp had barely hit the dirt and Eliie was already out of the ship running towards the academy.*

The Trandoshan returns his foe's grin with a toothy, fierce smile of his own as, fighting against the surprising strength of his enemy's grip so that he can keep his forearm from breaking, he simply allows his right side to be pierced by the pike thrust.
"Check mate," Mahavir spits at his enemy, laughing as he swings the lightsaber in his free hand up and out, seeking to behead the foe who had foolishly committed one hand to trying to break the Trandoshan's forearm and the other to thrusting the pike, leaving neither available to counter or block the humming saber which seems to sing a triumphant note as it sails forth towards the exposed neck of Mahavir's foe.
"Right beside you, vod," Kaiya says as she runs down the boarding ramp beside her twin. Igniting her blue hued lightsaber as they enter the enclave and join the battle inside, Kaiya calls on the Force to hasten the quickness of her movements, leaping forward to close the distance between her and one of the enemy soldiers who is backing a female Mon Calamari Jedi back towards a wall. Cutting the enemy from right shoulder to left hip, Kaiya gives her fellow Jedi a quick nod and, as the Mon Cal turns to engage another enemy, pivots to block the pike yet another enemy swings for her side. Forcing the pike upwards, Kaiya kicks her foe in the gut, and then slashes swiftly downwards as he bends forward while being pushed back. Her lightsaber keens operatically as, while her foe crumples to the rubble strewn floor, Kaiya turns to find another . . .

*Ellie activated her lightsaber, its crimson blade hissed to life. She could feel the energy building within the weapon, urging her forward to find their first opponent. Charging into the fray, Ellie found her first target. A human female about her height carrying a vibrosword and energy shield. The woman swung at Ellie, but left her guard open as she did. Ellie ducked under the sword and brought her blade up in a quick jab, catching her attacker underneath the ribs, dropping the woman instantly. A yell of challenge caught her attention, turning she saw a large figure heading her way. The new challenger was humanoid, male, but now human. He stood a full foot and a half taller then her and twice her size, he was wielding a static pike as tall as he was. The sight of the pike brought a new wave of anger to Ellie. The pike reminded her of when she was captured by slaves and beaten with the very same weapon. Calling on the force, she pulled the shield from the dead woman's hands into hers. She activated the shield and ducked under her attackers first swing, blocking the second and letting the pike glance off the shield on the third. Her attacker came in once more, swinging the pike down as hard as he could. Ellie spun out of the way of the pike, putting the shield between her and the weapon, she swung out and caught her opponent across the chest. He let out a yell of pain before hitting the ground.*
*Her anger wasn't quite sated yet, the hunger burned deep within her now. Moving quickly, she brought down another opponent, then another. So consumed by her desire to take out as many enemies as possible, that she almost didn't notice a little metal ball with a blinking red light bounce towards her and her twin. Over the commotion, she heard someone yell "thermal." Ellie realized that the explosive had landed dangerously close to her and her sister, leaving now real time to move out of harms way. Calling on the force, Ellie shot forward and tackled her sister to the ground, almost completely pining her twin underneath her. Using the shield to cover both of them in an attempt to protect them from the blast. The thermal detonator when off with a bone rattling roar, sending a shock wave of fire and shrapnel in every direction. Ellie cringed and tensed as the force of the explosion hit the shield and almost shorted it out. Her ears rang loud enough she couldn't hear anything for a few seconds. Pushing the damaged shield off, she rolled onto her back to let her sister get back up. As her senses began to reorganize themselves after the shock wave, she tried sitting up. The entire right side of her chest felt like it was on fire, making it hard to breath or move. Carefully she reached down and felt where the most pain was coming from. Her hand felt a gap in her armor, a hole and warm liquid. Wincing she drew her hand back to find it soaked in blood. Instantly she knew that a piece of something had gotten past her shield and found a weak spot in her armor. She tried to speak, but couldn't find her voice for several seconds. When she did, it was soft, almost timid.* "...V...vod?"

Grunting in commingled confusion, surprise, and pain when tackled to the ground by her twin, Kaiya is momentarily disoriented and baffled as to what led to her sister's actions until the roar of an explosion, cries of pain, and the wet sounds of shrapnel tearing through flesh reveal the danger she had been in without even knowing it. Her eyes dart around as Kaiya rises into a kneeling position, igniting her lightsaber to ready herself for any threats approaching her or her twin, but when she sees Ellie's blood soaked hand and hears her voice, the battle going on around them seems to retreat into the background.
"No, no, no, no, Kaiya says, un-igniting her lighstaber and dropping the hilt as she moves to her twin's side and begins to carefully remove her armor in order to get a better view of Ellie's wounds. You're going to be alright, Kaiya says with an assurance she does not feel, and as much for her twin's benefit as her own. Reminding herself of her training, of the fact that panic and fear will not help her or her sister, Kaiya says, Try and stay still, try and stay calm. Everything is going to be fine, I'll help you, you're going to be fine." Continuing to reassure herself as much as Ellie, Kaiya gently and carefully finishes removing her twin's armor and moves her clothing aside so that she can see the wounds in order to manage them appropriately, all the while endeavoring to remain calm enough to focus on the Force so that she can try and heal her twin at least enough to stabilize her until a more skilled healer can treat her.

*Ellie tried her best to both remove her armor and hold onto her wound. She was bleeding profusely, even with her hand clamped firmly on the injury. Her sisters words did little to comfort her, but Kaiya's presence did help calm Ellie down.* "That...that stings real bad." *She winced when her sister laid her hands on the injury, but the pain subsided some as her twin tried to her it using the force.* "Vod..I'm sorry. I mean..are you okay?" *The question was more to distract herself from the pain than anything. From what she could see though, her twin looked alright.*
*A short distance away, a male Bothan Jedi Master, Master Sovund, engaged in combat alongside several other Jedi Knights. His mind sinking into the Force to focus on his surroundings, as he did he felt someone using a very familiar Force technique. He turned his attention in the direction of the twins. One of which was injured, the other trying to heal her. The healing technique was familiar to him, he did work in the medical wing after all. When he first arrived, he came to defend the temple, but now he was retrieving the wounded. With the aid of the Force, he cleared the distance to the two sisters. Kneeling down beside them, he turned to Kaiya.* "How was she injured?" *He didn't need to ask how badly, the sight of the injury alone told him it was severe. Placing his saber hilt on his belt, he closed his eyes and placed his hands on Ellie's wound. With the aid of the force, he began to determine exactly how bad. Opening his eyes he turned to Kaiya.* "We need to get her to the medical wing, now." *He gently picked Ellie up and began to head towards the medical wing, weaving in and out of the battle.*

Kaiya barks a nervous, anxious laugh when Ellie, despite her own injuries, asks after Kaiya's well-being, and nods while trying to sound less worried than she is, "I'm fine, vod, I'm fine. You got me out of the way, and shielded me from most of the shrapnel. She may have a few superficial scrapes on her arms or legs, Kaiya thinks, but there is no need to mention them. Her relief is immense when Master Sovund arrives and begins to take over caring for her twin, and Kaiya answers his question, Shrapnel, from a thermal detonator I think," and bites down the question she wants to ask about how bad the injury looks to him as much for Ellie's sake as for her own.
Nodding when Master Sovund says that they need to get Ellie to the medical wing, Kaiya retrieves her lightsaber hilt and follows the Bothan Jedi Master, watching warily for any threats that might hinder their progress along the way.

*The war leader couldn't pull his head back quick enough. Instead of cutting his head clean off, the Jedi's lightsaber went straight across his throat. His eyes filled with surprise for a moment, then went blank as life fled from his body. The mans large frame teetered for a moment before tipping backwards and hitting the ground with a thud. Around his fallen body, his makeshift army was quickly crumbling. The surviving few bunched together to try and gain any advantage they could, but their numbers were to small and their opponents better trained. As the last one fell, a signal was sent to the frigate that brought them here.*

Injured though he is after his battle with war leader, Mahavir turns to aid those of his fellow Jedi in standing against the remaining foes, fighting until the bitter end of the battle that has left many of his fellow Jedi wounded or dead, and their home in ruins on the lower and many other levels.
Once the enemy forces have been defeated, many of the Jedi have little time to rest as there are the wounded to locate and look after, and also the solemn collection of the remains of the fallen Jedi and enemy forces alike. Mahavir, refusing to be treated until the very last of his strength has left him, joins other Jedi in finding the injured and helping them to the medical center so that Jedi skilled in the healing arts can tend to them.
As the Trandoshan finally accepts that he has done all that he can, and makes his way tiredly to the medical center to wait so that his wounds can be looked after, he allows himself a moment to mourn for the fallen, something all those who have survived will be able to do together when the many funeral pyres are lit in the days to come. His grief does not last long, however, and the Trandoshan soon finds his thoughts turning to the inevitable investigation into who their attackers were, and where they have fled to . . .
