Siege threads will be going up tonight. RP can commence there, whilst we wrap up a few other threads on Yavin IV to bring them up to the current timeline. Then it's game on.

The Mandalorian Siege of Yavin IV begins, and the Mandalorian Holy War is reignited on new JvS. First of all: The following OOC thread has been created. Can everyone make sure they have read and understood the first post before partaking in the RP. Mandalorian Siege OOC ThreadSecondly, the main IC narrative, outlining the conclusion of the battle lost to the great crash of 1.5, as agreed by the leaders of both sides of the battle, are outlined in the following post. Please also read that, firstly so everyone is following the same story, and secondly because I spent a lot of time trying to make it suitably cool and I like to think that people would enjoy it: Yavin Orbit - Mandalorian Holy War Narrative PostSome threads within the Jedi Praxeum still have current RPs unfolding on them, please let them finish before any Siege-related posts happen on those threads. I will repost the opening crawl on each thread as and when said thread is opened to the siege.

So, I was just approved into the Yavin IV praxeum. Can I simply start posting there, even in light of all the blockade?

Ehrm ... I'd hold off for a second there. If you want to get involved in the Siege/Mandalorian War in general, best bet would be to get in touch with one of the other Jedi off the moon. Help find a way to run supplies past the blockade, get assistance from other planets, etc., etc. In ... In fact. I MAY have the perfect way to do that. Lemme think about it for a bit. I have an NPC of a former Yavinite writer whose character is not going to be on Yavin IV either, but she's going to be participating heavily in assisting her friends and family. I could, if you'd like, totally work you into the story with her.

So what is the verdict on more than one Padawan? I know tradition is one on one between Master and Padawan. Just wanted some thoughts...

I would agree with Diamonte. If you think you can handle more than one (i.e. you have the time and the commitment) then go ahead. Also, just because someone you think you might want to train with already has a padawan, that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask them. Worst they can say is no. They'll probably even steer you toward good Jedi who are available.

Devlin and Diamonte are right.
We are not so strict with tradition. Of course we respect the traditions and history of the Order as a whole, but we recognize that times have changed and the Galaxy keeps spinning.
Do what works best for you as a writer, and for your character.

I was hoping to kick start this character aged 15. Hopefully at least with you approval I can rp him failing his initiate trials. I would rather the current Council members if possible assist in this rp to make it more credible and legit, if not (since I would like to begin ASAP) then I am hoping I can get approval to write his dismissal using NPC council members that in no way will be affiliated to your characters or have any affect on them or the Jedi Order

Johun: It'd be hypocritical of me to say I think you can only have one Padawan, considering Aerandir has had two since JvS's inception, albeit they were NPCs of mine (now alts). So, I'd say you'd be fine having multiple, so long as you feel IC your character is up to the task.
Aquilas: Welcome! As for your story idea, where were you hoping to RP him out? Most of the Academies/Praxeums around the galaxy have their own set of writers or people in charge that would be able to assist in such a storyline, though if you were looking to have this occur at Coruscant, then perhaps we could find a way for the Council to accommodate you more fully. Though to be honest, I'm not entirely certain we would dismiss you from the Order for failing initiate trials, if that's what you were implying; I think we would merely just give you more time to train and study. Dismissal is typically saved for pretty drastic measures, from what I'm aware.

I hadn't got that far and I was following what I read on Wookieepedia.
I wished for my character to have a fairly solid understanding of the force but needed a reason for him to leave the Jedi Order, I also wanted him to be at a reasonable age whereby he could make his own decisions and be more independent. I know in the Jedi apprentice series Obi-Wan is effectively discharged from the Order and I was hoping for my character to follow a similar route. Perhaps I could invent a reason not dissimilar, such as hurting a fellow Padawan albeit in the case of my character it would be an inability to control his aggression/rage/emotion ..etc

I'm sure you'll be able to find a Council member willing to help. If not, let me know, I'll help. Also, were you wanting him to return to the Order eventually or fall to the dark side? Just curious. I mean, Devlin's already haunted by Padawan's he's trained and who've fallen to the dark side...what's one more? lol But, it's your story; I'm just willing to help in a small way, if you need. Plus, I can hold "office hours" on Coruscant, if needed.

Yeah, we're pretty New Jedi Order - we're much more tolerant and flexible. We're not going to dismiss people for anything shy of a serious breach. On Yavin, and we're more of the mindset of its better to train them and keep them - and the rest of the Galaxy - safe from a potential Dark Sider.
As for multi-students, it makes sense to play it on a case by case basis. But in the early days of the NJO, it was common on Yavin to have 2 or more apprentices per master, like Kyle Katarn did in the Jedi Academy game. On Yavin now we tend to go with the idea that students without a one-on-one master continue training within a class-based structure, like the very first few classes of the Jedi Praxeum in canon.
