It instantly crossed Laoch’s mind that he’d been staring at a corpse’s leg. He shuddered involuntarily. But he felt An Tiarna’s hand smack the back of his head bellowing : “Done like dinner or not she does have a nice set legs! No?” Laoch laughed. The irregularity of The Raven cutting in and talking slipped by him in the moment. Ciarán listened but did not flinch. To the parrot he gave little consequence but the possibilities of all this had his mind racing. And open to human frailty as any other he may well be but the possibilities had nothing to do with Morrígu’s legs. He glared menacingly at Laoch for a second then his eyes fell back to the foursome... and the ship then asked -Ciarán- "Back a second.... What about the Old man?"

Boland and Morrígu froze on the question and Maureen, still clinging to her leg felt their hesitation and also remained quiet. The Raven on the other hand feared nothing and quite candidly stated -Fiach Dubh- "He now exists in the Otherworld. You'd think that he runs the place. Or that it was mismanaged prior to his arrival." The Raven stopped a second then asked -Fiach Dubh- "Truthfully I wonder how he lived so long - was he always been o arrogant?" Passing by the rhetorical question -Fiach Dubh- "He is quite comfortable and seems accepting of discarding the mortal shell."

The pair listened closely. The question presented made Ciarán chuckle aloud and Laoch too bowed his head muffling a laugh. Visions of the omnipotent pulling their hair out attempting to deal with An Tiarna crossed both of their minds. It soothed their hearts. A feeling of pity for the celestial crossed by Ciarán. Laoch mummbled -Laoch- <<They better watch him or he'll start a revolution against the Almighty....>> Eyes hard Ciarán said pragmatically -Ciarán- "That's all we need to hear." Looking down he asked "Then where are we?" The two fixed gazes on The Raven

Lieutenant Plunkett observed the conversation but said nothing. He was far from impartial and believed that his interchange would prove highly significant but as a soldier simply watched

Lieutenant Ó Dubhuí also watched but as Plunkett he did not speak. Still he could smell that this dialogue was important so he kept an ear on the conversation

The ice had been broken and no explosion. Still Boland remained tight lipped as did Morrígu. Maureen could feel the tension loosen slightly yet still she instinctively clung to the woman’s thigh. Anything can happen. Anything. Having experienced been crushed in a horrific collision, her immortal soul then whisked off to the Otherworld by a mythical crow with a deeply seeded attitude problem , where she met Boland and Morrígu was a slight bit more than extraordinary. Listening to a dead An Tiarna rant was like being on a heavy hallucinogenic drug, not like the girl had any understanding of the trip. The icing on the cake was that it appeared the Old man somehow bargained her way back to life. So she watched attentively safely hidden behind Morrígu. The Raven, now settled on the shoulder of Morrígu spoke -Fiach Dubh- “It would appear to me that we are now on Juvex.”

Laoch asked Ciarán -Laoch- "Are you capping this shit-hawk or am I?" Deliberating on the question Ciarán finally responded -Ciarán- "I'd put my life savings down that anybody comes within two meters of this buzzard thinks at least once about killing it." He stared coldly at The Raven awaiting something a little more substantial. Something in the back of Ciarán's mind told him that killing The Raven was not really possible. But that did nothing to cool the desire to grease the thing

Ó Dubhuí ignored the Comm. incessantly beeping for some time. Finally he opening the link -Ó Dubhuí- ::What is it man!!!!:: Nodding head several times as he listened cutting the device abruptly he cleared his throat Lieutenant Ó Dubhuí- "Lieutenant Plunkett... would appear that a few of your boys found a Warrior class gunship..... Some of my lads are there."

Maureen, now standing between Morrígu and Boland blurted out -Maureen- “He’s immortal. I know!” Hands flailing in the air accenting her hurried speech -Maureen- “See when we were dead and in the great hereafter…..” Eyes animated -Maureen- “An Tiarna took out his gun and BOOOM!!!! Hands waving wildly as she spoke -Maureen- “Feathers everywhere!” Face somber and body still -Maureen- “But the smoke cleared and there he was….” Hands mimicking casting lightning -Maureen- “And then… then the bird fried An Tiarna!” With that she stood lips pursed and eyes wide

Ciarán and Laoch listened attentively as Maureen spoke. Laoch smiled in spite of himself at her flamboyant storytelling technique. But what she said was interesting too. She was talking about the afterlife. And of her with his grandfather in the afterlife. Ciarán truly pitied the dead. And he grieved his own loss. Paradox that. But one thing Ciarán did not miss in all the emotion stirred up by her tale: The Raven was not to be taken lightly. That could work out for them quite nicely. Could. He watched the bird suspiciously

The silent stillness was deafening and hurt the eyes. No words; scarcely a movement, if any. It was as if all were frozen in animated suspension but the minds raced. Boland tried desperately to put all together. Keep cool... Keep cool.... He told himself and all the while his heart raced as what ifs raced through his head. Morrígu too was everything calm cold and collected outwardly but a storm raged inwardly. It was the small girl among them still holding the woman's leg that was composed. Still hanging onto the woman's leg she sat thinking calmly. Innocently she demaned -Maureen- "What is stopping us from doing something?" The question so basic provoked thought... and an answer

Both men were tied up in thought when the girl's simple question pulled them back into reality. Laoch shot back quickly -Laoch- "And what would you suggest kid?" But inwardly he had to admit the question had been on his own mind, Ciarán too was on the same page as the child. What was stopping them? A massive power move did not imply the virtual shutting down of the universe. Did it? That mad no sense to Ciarán. Unless... unless freezing and suffocating the entire universe was what these powers wanted to achieve. And that didn't make a drop of common sense. Seize power. Control. That he could see. But seize control over what? A stale lifeless universe? Made no sense at all.... Ciarán thought hard but said nothing; he, unlike Laoch, so fast to talk before thinking. He was sharp witted but oft responded immediately before thinking. Thinking.... Ciarán though on her words - hard

The question was clear, just about as clear as they get. Yet Boland remained silent. Morrígu too offered no response, a wooden stillness on her face. Maureen, conversely shot back a response almost before the words had escaped Laoch's mouth saying, almost questioningly -Maureen- "Anything...." Ciarán's face recoiled as if he had been slapped. Morrígu's eyes shot down on Maureen. She honestly didn't know in the moment whether to slap or hug the girl. Her gaze shot to Boland then back to the two. The talk was beginning to arouse the attention of The Raven but he said nothing. Boland, still wordless picked up the girl and ushered Morrígu inside the ship -Boland- "C'mon you two." And with that entered the ship. He put on a pot of coffee. Morrígu sat some distance back of the door to the right. Maureen sat at her side

Ciarán and Laoch followed cautiously each casing the place out as they entered. They both sat at a table, backs to the walls

Morrígu and Maureen both sat watching with mistrusting eyes. Fiach dubh too kept watch on the two. Boland laid two coffee down in front of the two. Then he tossed a primative star map on the table. -Boland- "I mistrust the Holonet now... but news...." Shrugging shoulders -Boland- "Let's say it travels." Pulling a seat up and setting his own coffee down he threw his hands up -Boland- "So long as the girls are safe I am game with anything." He leaned in accenting "Anything...." "The girls" - adult and child - watched closely

Star maps and datapads were out on the table along with archaic paper and such. Laoch toyed with a datapad, his eyes still not allowing the three to escape notice. Ciarán looked fiercely at the three -Ciarán- "You three may be ignorant to a lot of what is going down right now...." Lighting a cigarette he pronounced with a smile and a jovial voice -Ciarán- "A new universal order is upon us!!!" Any could tell that he was anything but happy. Voice falling flat -Ciarán- "Being dead for a while you may have missed the news.... Another Empire has arose."

Morrígu and Maureen now studied star maps together as Boland toyed with some of the mess of star maps, datapads and the like he had spread on the table. All kept close watch on Ciarán and Laoch

Ciarán surveyed the Star map and reviewed alternative news sources available. He looked at the bodies around the room as an ideas formed in his head. Stay still and do something here or move. Both had pros and cons. Ciarán on thinking carefully about anything that he did. Where Laoch was spontaneous and oft reckless he thought things out. Mae for a formidable team. These others added greatly to that fine mix so Ciarán believed. Morrígu was smart, as was the child, this Maureen. And Boland? Ciarán could see the street smarts, obvious ability to handle himself and honor. That freak of a bird? That thing, he thought, that thing could be their ace.... Could be. Could be an Albatross too. Ciarán shrugged unconsciously and went back to his study. Laoch too was reviewing the material at their disposal. He longed to do something

As Laoch and Ciarán reviewed the data, Boland continued to do the same. Morrígu and Maureen too were now deep in study. The Raven watched wondering how long it would take them for simple logic to strike home. He had no doubt now: people are idiots. Maureen blurted out -Maureen- "How many cops do they have?" The logic of the simple question hit Morrígu like an SSD hitting a dilapidated shithouse at full seed. Boland also laughed at the basic truth in the statement

Laoch smiled at the girl’s question. Kids were cute. The glare the comment received from Ciarán conversely one would expect to have cut the child in two -Ciarán- “Kid you are a Goddamn genius….” Off the top of his head he spit out some stats -Ciarán- "Gotta be over 2 trillion sentient beings bumming around Coruscant.” Eyes growing large -Ciarán- “And somebody is stopping every ship jumping into orbit and giving it a going over?” Right hand waving in the air -Ciarán- “Kuat ain’t none the better…. Maybe more controlled entry.” Utter bewilderment in eyes -Ciarán- “But who’s gonna frisk down every cat dropping by for an oil change?” Shaking his head -Ciarán- “Nobody has that type of time or even if they did they wouldn’t have the manpower….” Laoch listened more and more conscientious as Ciarán went on -Laoch- “Not if it wasn’t anything aggressive or that would be caught on standard scanning devices and stopped cold." A smile crossed Ciarán’s face -Ciarán- “Correctamundo! Particularly if they don’t even care who you are.” Hand gesturing to Laoch then himself -Ciarán- “We might have one celebrated family background. One equally despised as much as it is liked – if not more.” A dull look falling on his face -Ciarán- "And? So what." Eyes growing large again “Now you roll outta hyperspace sitting in a Warrior class gunship and you’ll more than have a fight….” Laughing -Ciarán- “But you and the Brady Bunch in a yt-1300 light freighter?” Head shaking -Ciarán- “Provided you’re not pissing on somebody’s parade nobody would even give a damn!” With that he sat back. Laoch gazed downward a puzzled look on his face. He added slowly -Laoch- “Free movement is a cornerstone of even the most oppressive of regimes…. After a moment adding -Laoch- “Successful ones anyways.”
