Description:
The BTL-S5 Y-Wing Starfighter was part of a re-design proposal known as the Stelmaria Project originally intended for the Corellian Coalition. After the fall of the Coalition to the First Order, Vaughan Emrys managed to recover the Project proposals and adapted them for his own purposes. Thus a new series of Starfighters was born, with the BTL-S5 Y-Wing serving as a new model of Bomber as an evolution of Y-Wing design from the days of the Rebel Alliance. Much of the ships design is still rooted in previous Y-Wing technology, however the BTL-S5 features unique design stylings which other vessels of the Stelmaria Project share.
One of the biggest design changes for the BTL-S5 is that the engine pods are mounted on pivot hinges, allowing them to fold up for landing. The BTL-S5 features a pair of Laser Cannons in the nose of the craft, a turreted Dual Ion Cannon just behind the cockpit, and a pair of Flex Tube Launchers which are fed by a central magazine (capable of holding 6 Missiles, 10 Torpedoes, or 20 Bombs) for armament. Another change to the BTL-S5 is a return to a dual pilot setup, with an Astromech socket as an additional requirement. Shielding and a Hyperdrive help diversify the BTL-S5's mission profiles and increase its longevity.
