 Energy Resistant Metals/Minerals ChangesGreetings and Salutations, JvS Members! The Whill Council is unveiling a change to the rules regarding rare energy resistant metals and minerals. There has been some confusion in the past regarding ways to properly attain these resources for use in Open RP, so we have revised the rules to allow for fun Roleplay while preventing future misunderstandings. Overall the changes are minimal, but we decided to make them to avoid any potential problems going into the future. You can view the newly created rules thread here. The biggest change is a list of the materials in question, with a sub-list of the locations each resource can be found that exist on JvS. However, this does not mean that other locations do not exist or that the list of locations will not be expanded in the future. More may be added in the future as Star Wars canon changes, if locations that exist on JvS that are known to have said resources were missed, or upon request by the membership of JvS (with the final approval of the Whill Council). Would any consideration be given to the list being expanded to include other rare and powerful substances, such as Void Stone, Hijarna Stone, Baradium357, or other things such as Dovin Basals?

More energy resistant metals/alloys are definitely welcome if they are found to exist in SW canon.
Void stone seems to just interfere with one's connection to the Force, similar to Ysalamir.
Baradium-357 is an explosive, so it is not relevant to this rule.
Dovin basals are Yuuzhan Vong tech, so they are covered under the already existing rules regarding YV tech (and potentially Superweapons, given how powerful they can be).
Hijarna stone may be relevant, given it's noted resistance to turbolaser fire, but it is only noted as existing in two locations: the Fortress of Hijarna and the Hand of Thrawn. No mention of how it is made or where it is acquired is mentioned. Because of this I would categorize it more closely to a canon artifact, but I will bring this material up to the rest of the Council.

The void stone also appears to be a unique singular item so I don't think it would be reasonable for someone to claim having it. That would be like me saying I've got Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. Taozin amulets do something similar, but they used to be banned by a ruling from the old RP council. Not sure if that still applies since the council doesn't exist anymore, but just a reminder these things are still out there. Easier to abuse since at least with the Ysalamir rule you need a special carrying device to make it slightly more inconvenient. |
