The Scythe is a unique prototype vessel of which only one has yet been created.
It is one of Kaine's personal projects, planned, designed and drawn up during his long hours relaxing on his farmstead outside Keldabe on Mandalore. With a yearning to his youthful days flying skyhoppers and scout craft for the Borleias Defence Force, Kaine set out to design a fighter that was faster than anything MandalArms had put to the drawing board before.
Designed around her powerful engines, the sleek red hull tapers down to allow for a two-person cockpit, with little room to spare for anything else not related to speed, maneuverability, the twin cannons, and keeping the pilot and copilot alive. Packed into the hull, inertial compensators and dampeners surround the cockpit, with dallorian alloy and agrinium shielding the living beings from the huge energy output a few feet behind them.
Added to her impressive sublight engines is an advanced hyperdrive, as fast and swift as her main engines, making her able to carry the Australis Alor across space swiftly and effectively, which is convenient, as this is not the most comfortable craft for spending days at a time strapped into. The entire craft is sheathed in a durinium weave shell, which is thinly armoured, and not very durable, though it is resistant to sensor scans of its interior.
She is built for speed and agility, not pilot comfort, and though she is a hell of a thrill to fly, the cramped nature of the available space makes this craft best suited to short missions. Her firepower is limited to only two laser cannons, and the fighter has no room or power left over for shields, having been designed to be fast and agile, not durable or heavily armed.
Out in the void of space, between large vessels, firepower often tells the tale. Between fightercraft, in tight quarters, this is not always the case. The pilot who can put himself in best position to fire wins most of the time. In a straight line race, or duel of agility, the Scythe does not kneel.
