Description:
The TIE/sr, more commonly known as the Skirmisher, is a commonly available starfighter designed for long range, deep space operation as a reconnaissance, escort and patrol craft, featuring a number of systems which are not commonly present on the TIE line of starfighters, such as a hyperdrive, shielding and an onboard life support system. Designed and built to operate alone or in small groups, often far away from a support fleet or docking facilities, the TIE Skirmisher is engineered for survivability and durability, being outfitted with heavy armor and shielding, as well as featuring a detachable cockpit that can serve as an escape pod in the eventuality that the starfighter is destroyed in combat.
Its armament consists of four laser cannons and a single missile launcher mounted on the cockpit, featuring similar performance to a TIE Interceptor in this regard, however this is where the similarities end in terms of performance. The Skirmisher's defensive and survivability features come at the expense of speed and agility, resulting in a starfighter that is fairly slow and cumbersome, especially when compared with other variants of the TIE line.
