Hi guys, Garrick here,
This is just to judge interest, but after some discussions with a few people on the site, I am making a space Venice on a unique space station (either a revamped Wheel or some other such space station, or an entirely unique one), and was wondering if anyone would be interested. This would likely be from faction people (BGR, CC, FO) who would see the value in what is pretty much a space Venice, completely neutral and, due to the fact that lore wise, it will have a massive business exporting various rare metals and minerals due to asteroid strip mining, and as such, it will pretty much be a massive city on a space station, with a sizable financial, tourism and gambling industry because entrepreneurship would be heavily encouraged on board. All this, combined with a small bit extremely well equipped military, leave the station with a good insurance policy against invasion. People who might be interested might come to host or work for an official embassy from their country on planet, to infiltrate the planet to get something from the other side/work with a traitor from the other side/anything else of that nature, or to simply go on holiday there. This’ll hopefully create some fun internal, personal RP among faction members, interfactional politics on both a personal and political level, but with no fighting due to the presence of neutral authorities. If you’ve ever played KOTOR, it’s like Manaan. Except humans instead of Selkath.
This thread is to see if people would be interested in having characters set up in the ways mentioned above (or in other ways I haven’t thought of yet), and to critique the concept of the idea itself.

I may have an alt that is not currently doing anything that could run security for the station, if needed. Hey, that sounds great, people who can fulfill things like that are perfect for this. I'd say I'm interested. I could whip up a character for something That sounds lovely, and really any character works if you want to be a part of the station crew, as long as they are devoted to upholding neutrality (at least outwardly, spy jobs are welcome, and make things more interesting!). Sounds like an interesting idea. Could be fun. Characters from all factions (FO included) are welcome to visit the station, be it for espionage, embassy staffing, or pleasure. |

I know someone else tried running with an idea similar to this but unfortunately never got to take off. Good to see something similar being attempted again. Would definitely be a place for Luxeria to conduct business or just come for some fun.

Yes droids! Flvin is in the possession of a R2 Astromech nicknamed "Snickers" and an HK droid named "Kerboros". I created them a while back but I've never really had an opportunity to write with them yet.

Ok, so, I’m back, on the character that will be doing this, just with a general outline of what will be on the Ring, in order to help your brainstorming for character/NPC ideas.
The not sure what I’m calling it yet will more or less be an extremely wealthy urban metropolis in space, with a fierce devotion to its independence and more importantly its neutrality. As an extremely wealthy city in space, it will house major mining offices for the companies that strip mine the asteroids around them (thus characters who work for or with mining companies would be perfect for this, but your everyday miners would not be living on the station - it will be all your executives and such people as that). It will also house a good quantity of the rich and famous from across the galaxy who wish to see their accounts be safe in times of war (and in correlation with this have an even stronger financial sector, which shall constitute the bulk of its economy). Lastly, it was all have a sizable tourism industry, due to the fact that it’s an ultra rich paradise in space. For a general feel, think Monaco’s tourism combined with Hong Kong’s financial centre capacity, and throw in billionaires from across the galaxy. Other such residents would be people working for the government (for example, the chief of security type which Znalost he mentioned he might make).
The other types of characters who would visit would definitely be people who are either in charge of or staffing foreign embassies here. I am hoping we can form a thriving set of embassies, who conduct espionage on each other and/or the ring itself, while trying to keep out of trouble, lest they piss off the city officials, and get the city to break its neutrality and side with the other side. People on vacation would also constitute the type of people who come here.

As far as a general structure surrounding governance of the station, it’s a bit of a free market paradise, so there will be great focus on individual development through your own hard work. This is also why the wealth will start at upper middle class and go to very upper class, simply due to the fact that the society is extremely monetarily driven, and as such, this is where you come after you’ve made it in life. The laws will more or less function as a civilized society would (no murder, no theft, etc.) with a very well equipped police force to back it up. OOC rules are pretty much: don’t do anything too crazy, there is going to be espionage and stuff and that’s fine, but don’t blow anything up without asking me first. And don’t inflict so much damage to the station that it is destroyed, that is pretty much an automatic no from me, so save yourself the time. Other rules are pretty much, battles have to be run by me, since this is a space station, battles (not skirmishes) could severely damage and potentially even destroy it. Law enforcement will also be very quick to respond to issues, due to the relative small size of the station.

This is a very interesting idea I want to be part with, but Idk in which cappacity and with whom. Several of my alts could have use for this too, either Moff Ju'oda, who is a massive capitalist and entrepeneur, or Voon Ostrenis-Massa, who leads the/a Resistance and could very well use a neutral ground. Also, I have a smuggler and general low-life who could do things in here. Idk, it's promising, maybe I'll have to cook another alt for it. I like it.
