Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (Refit)
Ship Class: Star Destroyer
Ship Role: Destroyer, Carrier, Command Ship
Ship Length: 1,600 meters
Agility (A): 2
Defensive (D): 4
Offensive (O): 4
Speed (S): 2
Special Gear: 3 (Troop Space, Gravity Well Projector, Advanced Sensor Array)
Description:
The Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, also known as the Imperial II-class Destroyer and colloquially the "ImpStar Deuce", was a Star Destroyer model that was derived from the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer. Although the same size as its predecessor, the ISD II had an advantage in firepower, but lost out in its anti-starfighter defenses. As a result, the Imperial II would have to rely upon escorts and starfighters to ensure it was not harassed by enemy fighters and bombers.
Throughout the Galactic Civil War, and into the New Republic Era, these Star Destroyers were not only destroyed, but captured, both during battle or while in dry docks. Despite their origins with the Galactic Empire, the New Republic Defense Force, and the Rebel Alliance predecessor, viewed them with respect and knew their potential. These were still very powerful ships, even as they aged into the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion and the Republic's successor, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. As a result of their continued service and presence, these Star Destroyers were modified. The most notable examples were the Mon Mothma and the Elegos A'Kla, both which saw immense action during the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion.
The major difference between these models and the earlier ISDs was the inclusion of a more efficient Gravy Well Projector (compared to the Interdictor Cruisers). Not to mention the more up to date weaponry and shielding that produced a welcomed upgrade from the original Imperial II. In addition, the armament was adjusted for more point defense laser cannons to properly screen the vessel against starfighter attacks.
The touches done by the New Republic, and later the Galactic Alliance, updated the Imperial II with more up to date weaponry, shields, and armor to make more versatile than its original model. 8 octuple barbette turbolaser cannons, 55 heavy turbolaser batteries, 55 heavy turbolaser cannons, 20 heavy ion cannons, 2 heavy tractor beam projectors, 10 tractor beam projectors. 60 ion cannons, and 50 point defense laser cannons make up its array of weapons. In terms of being a military transport, the ISD (post Battle of Hoth) carried 72 starfighters alongside 9,700 troopers with a complement of various vehicles.
