Description:
The Lancer-class frigate was a capital ship used for anti-starfighter operations in the Imperial Navy. Though the doctrine of the Imperial Navy called for a focus on ship-to-ship combat capabilities, the invention of the Rebel Alliance's 'Trench Run Disease,' as the Imperials called it, resulted in the demand for better screening against enemy starfighters. The proposal came in the form the KDY's Lancer-class ships, proposed by Admiral Ilon Drez. Imperial High Command quickly approved of this design and it found favor in the Imperial Navy and subsequent successor navies within the New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, and the Galactic Alliance.

The Lancer-class was a frigate design armed with 20 AG-2G quad laser cannons, with at least some of these guns capable of being retracted into the main hull of the vessel. In addition, it had the carrying space for 40 troops and 2 shuttles.
