The following weeks and months were filled with almost daily training sessions between Harnan and Vardus. While the new Ren was a fairly skilled swordsman and proficient Force User, there were always areas for improvement. Things such as blade work, form, stance, powers to use in different situations and how to call upon them. The last item, more than most others, were of particular focus with Vardus. During their first training session, Harnan had seen into Vardus' mind. He had seen the troubled and worried boy that existed beneath the surface.
It was a painful process, but Harnan forced the boy to face his inner fears. With his rebirth as a Ren, Vardus no longer held any title or name which had a legacy he needed to live up to. His Fel heritage was no more. Now he was just a Ren, a weapon used to bring Balance and Order to the Galaxy. Nothing more and nothing less. It was perhaps a harsh reality to face, but one Harnan forced Vardus to face each and every day until the boy would come to terms with it. It was during these sessions that Harnan oversaw and guided Vardus in constructing a battle helmet. Concealing one's identity was a key part of being a Ren. You could not be recognized as who you used to be. You were a faceless being, known only as a Ren.
He also took Vardus through ways of harnessing his anger and hate. Instead of letting them control his actions, Vardus would control them and bend them to his will. To achieve this, Harnan drilled the Ren's creed and goals into the boy. Order and Balance would be achieved one day, by using his anger and hate as tools he could access greater strength in times of need to strike down the enemies of the Ren and the First Order.
When Vardus wasn't training with Harnan, Neith Ren would take him out on practice runs with the new TIE Silencer he had been granted as a Knight of Ren. Harnan also put Vardus through training missions with the Purge Troopers that answered only to the Knights of Ren. These missions were used as both a test of his skill to command soldiers, while also training him to improve his ability to do so Harnan was a demanding master, but he was as rewarding. No matter what kind of effort he demanded from you, his teaching gave you back what you needed. Vardus would slowly feel the pressure going on and embraced the training silently, not only that, but he exerted himself to the point of exhaustion. There was no hesitation, nor limits to what he pushed himself into, he was headset into achieving his full potential, and Vardus started to gladly erase his past and the weight of it, letting it go in a wave of sweat, blood and broken bones. Finally, there was someone who could understand him and could forge him into a peerless weapon, fulfilling and realizing -most ironically- the power and might of his bloodline. When he even forgot how he was named and could release the burden upon his shoulders, he could, at last, feel actual freedom. And smithing his helmet was an act of redemption, a mask to cloud his appearance and hide his face, identity and feelings, a heavy mask that would signify his commitment to the new creed and remind him of his nature of a knight of Ren. And all the rage boiling in his blood was now harnessed and given purpose, something he always lacked, and lashed and redirected it fueled his powers and his prowess. The runs with Neith were exhilarating, for he, like a score of his ancestors, loved to fly, and the Silencer, a ship that a non-Force user would struggle to even pilot, felt like an extension of his own body. The she-knight of Ren was a good match for his piloting skills, albeit where he was raw and merciless she was filled with malice and subtlety. The Purge troopers were far more skilled than any other stormtroopers he had drilled with and slowly he felt at ease with the faceless executioners of the Ren's will. Vardus started to develop a kind of camaderie with those men, feeling at least unburdened by a lineage that made men grovel before or be submissive. Still, below the surface and underneath many layers of conditioning laid the hard and burning core of his self, untouched, but now silent, for he had found purpose, at last.

The Emperor's word of integrating the Ren was something that would certainly be known, unless Harnan kept that information to himself, by the time Nicademus came to visit the planet of Prakith within the Deep Core. As his Resurgent-class Battlecruiser, Hyperion, traversed the hyperlanes of this region, the Imperial felt an all too familiar presence. True, he wasn't Force sensitive like his children, the Imperial Knights, nor the Ren, but there was still a feeling of familiarity. The Deep Core was where his career began, it was his second home before this present day. Even now, he felt like he was going to Khomm to put down the rebellious Moff there or to force the compliance of Foerost, the opening moves of his career as a military and political leader.
The warship exited hyperspace over Prakith a day ago. Nicademus used this time to review reports of the Deep Core and what was going on. Coruscant had occupied much of his time before this trip. The Emperor knew he could have easily summoned Harnan or spoken via holotransmission, but he felt a personal visit was more in order and appropriate. 24 hours after the arrival of the Hyperion, a trio of shuttles launched from its bay, escorted by a squadron of TIEs. They zipped down to the surface and to the landing pads of the Cital of the Ren, their relatively new headquarters.
The Emperor's arrival was either anticipated by Harnan alone or by all of the Ren... although, considering how long his vessel hung over Prakith, it was likely the latter. It was more of a matter of if it was Harnan or all of the Ren who knew the purpose. The moment he had spoke of integration at the first Moff Council, this meeting was a long time coming. Nicademus landed before the Citadel with his usual entourage; the five members of the Praetorian Guard and a handful of Stormtrooper squads, all wearing the black and red armor of the Emperor's personal regiment. The Imperial, however, does not wait and proceeds to enter the Citadel with the Imperial Knights following closely behind their liege. Nicademus was sort of course to this structure as it was the first time gazing upon it since granting authority to the Ren. Back when Soku led the show. Another Knight of Ren... gone.

Harnan had been pushing Vardus hard in his training, getting the new Knight of Ren to a state in which he would be an asset to the Order and not a liability. That was until the day the Hyperion dropped out of hyperspace above Prakith. Ever since the meeting of the Moff Council upon Coruscant, Harnan had been anticipating Nicademus' appearance upon Prakith to discuss further the integration of the Ren into the First Order. And now, that day had finally come. He placed a hold on further training for Vardus while he oversaw the preparations for the meeting with Nicademus. Purge Troopers were handed out new assignments, with an increased security presence within the dungeons where the Ren's special prisoners were held, and outside the Archives to ensure a heightened level of protection over the relics of the Ren. Nicademus' presence inevitably meant Imperial Knights would be accompanying him, and Harnan would not provide them free reign of the Citadel.
When the trio of shuttles launched the following day, the Purge Troopers were quick to take up their positions, forming a pathway through the Citadel from the hangar bay to the Meeting Hall. Meanwhile, Harnan took a seat at the round table that had been set up, with Atlantia Ren, Vardus Ren and Neith Ren having been summoned and seated on either side of Harnan. Both Praesia Ren and Katsumi Ren had been informed of the Emperor's pending visit, however their invitations to join were entirely dependent upon if they would be able to get away from their latest missions long enough to attend. The Master of the Ren leaned back in his high-backed chair and waited as the Purge Troopers would guide the Emperor through the Citadel and straight to the Meeting Hall. There, a pair of the Troopers would push open the doors to allow Nicademus and his retinue to enter, with Harnan giving a scowl behind his helmet when the Praetorian Guards entered.
Harnan gave a short bow to Nicademus, before motioning to the empty high backed chair that sat opposite where Harnan was positioned at the table. Seats stretched out from either side for the Praetorians to take a seat or for any others among Nicademus' retinue to make use of. It was a rather symbolic moment that Harnan had managed to have two former Imperial Knights turned Knights of Ren available for this meetingEmperor Delvardus... Welcome to the Citadel. Please, have a seat...

The pause in his training irked Vardus to no end, particularly when he had healed from previous injuries -he didn't restrain from the hardest trials- and was evolving beyond what he thought possible. But, Harnan had decreed their order had to welcome the Delvardus emperor and, thus, he was forced into the cold mask of courtesy. He knew the red-haired twat good enough, what else, but whatever he had felt about him, he had to supress and bury. Still, he there was some coldness around him that day, when he sat at Harnan's side. The cinders of burning anger laid beneath the tranquil surface of his mind. Probably Harnan and other Rens could feel the unease flowing from the newest addition to their creed, even if Vardus was trying to supress it beneath layers of indiference. He had doned the faceless helmet that he had forged with the master of Ren, a featureless visage to instill fear and allow anonymity. A helmet forged through old Sith smith techniques, depurated with the craft of Mandalorian smiths. The hard and heavy durasteel rested upon his temples, concealing his visage and offering the world a threatening face. He remained perfectly still with Nicademus' arrival, but he clenched the left fist on his lap, clad in a leathern black glove. Whatever such a man was doing in Prakith wasn't a concern of his, but he had interrupted his training and, surely, there would be a drag of a meeting to discuss pointless terms, when only power and true balance in the Force mattered. Vardus stared at the emperor behind his mask and then, the Imperial knights, weaker and decadent versions of their holier-than-thou jedi brethen, a limited and limiting travesty. The knight of Ren believed he could best any of them and reduce them to a pulp, so he entertained his mind thinking how to pierce through that red plate of theirs.

Emperor Delvardus... Welcome to the Citadel. Please, have a seat... A few familiar helmets and then... there was one new face. When Nicademus entered the room where Harnan deemed the place of their meeting, the Emperor took in the full roster of the Ren and compared it to the days before. Sohei was gone and so was Illaria and Katsumi. Soku was the recent missing member now. Those four were deemed Missing in Action rather than killed. There were a couple other Ren, whose names escaped his mind, that had also vanished. The Knights of Ren seemed to struggle with their numbers. Yet, despite the opposition, kept from Harnan's ears, Nicademus refused to simply disown or forcefully disband them. They had a use after all. A proven one. He would not waste such an asset because others didn't like them.
Delvardus turns slightly, motioning to the ever-silent Praetorian Guard. The pair, that were allowed in, took some steps back before becoming statues within the presence of their liege and the Ren. Inwardly, the Emperor wish he could chuckle at the fact that Harnan should be grateful that he brought the Praetorian Guard and not Brock Ferrum to this meeting. With that, the Imperial takes his seat, dressed in his usual officer's uniform.Harnan, thank you for your time. I must congratulate you on becoming the Master of the Ren. It is... unfortunate that Soku has joined the ranks of the missing and absent. For he was the one that declared the Ren were to be my swords, the blades of the First Order, and his leadership will not be forgotten. He still remembered how Soku bisected the former IGBC executive on a holotransmission.Still, with you at the helm, the Ren will endure and continue to be well led.The Emperor states before looking at the other Ren present.I see that the ranks of the Ren have expanded. So many have vanished, but new blood still continues to flow in. Soon, Princess Fiora will join as a new face. As promised to the late Empress, Illaria Ren, she will be inducted and become a Knight of Ren, like her mother. She will be ready when you are, Harnan. She will be.Nicademus turns his gaze back to Harnan, continuing to speak of Fiora. She has been given some rudimentary lessons, but nothing of a philosophical nature. Mostly the beginnings of how to utilize the Force and some practice training with a saber. I don't want her being too green with your training. I know you will put her through the crucible to forge her into a proper Ren.Now, onto business. The Imperial had been thinking on this for a long time now. Now, let us discuss the truth of my visit. The full integration of the Knights of Ren, the evolution of our long alliance into making the Ren a more integral part of the Empire and her future. I desire to ensure a continued role for the Ren, one that will endure during my reign and continue after my time.

Neith sat silently next to Harnan as the Emperor entered the Meeting Hall and took his seat. Unlike Vardus, whose venomous thoughts dripped off of him in the Force, she felt no ill will toward the leader of the First Order. She had served the man for years in a former life, and she still trusted him to this day. It was his Imperial Knights, however, that she did not trust. She had experienced their duplicitous nature first hand. For her, it was only a matter of time until the current crop of Imperial Knights betrayed him. And when they day came, she would be there waiting to cut them down for their treachery.
Until such a time came about, she would spend her days training and growing stronger. This impending integration into the First Order would provide a better position for the Ren to keep an eye on the Imperial Knights, while also hunting down the Jedi and Sith and bringing them to justice. As such, she was curious to see how these talks would proceed

Harnan kept his awareness on the Praetorian Guards as they stepped back and took up their positions. But he shifted his focus to be upon Nicademus as the man sat down, with Harnan following suit a moment or two later. This meeting was going to be important on a number of levels, as as the Master of the Ren, he needed to adapt to his new position. Which meant paying attention and acting in the best interests of the Ren as a whole. He barely moved as Nicademus started by lamenting the loss of Soku as the leader of the Ren Soku may be absent, but he is not as missing as... others... He rests within these walls, recovering from his wounds. But rest assured, even though Soku no longer leads the Ren at present, we will remain the blades of the First Order. It's just unfortunate I won't be able to make quite as dramatic a gesture as Soku did when he first made that commitment... Harnan certainly had more than a couple ideas for things he could do, especially involving the Praetorian Guards that blasphemed the Citadel with their presence. But he knew striking them down would only cause more trouble than it would do good. But even as his attention started to stray again, it was just as quickly gained once more as Nicademus mentioned Fiora. He had not soon forgotten mans initial promise, nor the renewal of that promise, to have Fiora train with the Ren. Her brother was already well on his way to training as an Imperial Knight, which meant things could become very difficult in the future. Especially once the boy became a man and took Nicademus' place as Emperor. Having Fiora with the Ren would make the boy less likely to listen to his fellow Imperial Knights and banish them or attempt to have them all killed With each passing moment, the day draws nearer when I shall come and collect Fiora to begin her training. I do not have any doubt she will be ready to begin, she has a strong heritage after all... Illaria was one of the strongest Ren. I suspect her daughter will live up to, and perhaps even surpass that... Nicademus sometimes had a tendency, at least in his own opinion, to ravel on and dance around a topic. But on this occasion, the man did not divert from the topic at hand too long before hitting the nail on the head. The topic of discussion that mattered most was this one. Much like Nicademus, Harnan had been thinking about it a lot of late. Now it would come down to this discussion and agreement between the two men I figured we would come to this matter soon enough... Given recent events, it is an undeniable fact the Ren are not exactly what we once were... Our Order is considerably smaller than it once was, and with your daughter set to join our ranks, right now is an opportune moment to get this integration going. Especially considering that of late we have been all but officially integrated as is... But considering some of the less than appreciative attitudes towards the Ren, having an assured future with the First Order once your reign ends will be beneficial... Given you're the politician, I suspect you had some idea for how you want this to work...

Nicademus had long considered how to give the best deal to the Ren. They already enjoyed great things with the alliance, so the Imperial had to consider other ways to ensure their power was assured within the structure of the First Order, both presently and in the future to come. The Emperor wanted his son to rely upon the Ren as he did and his son after him too.The best idea in mind will be rather simple. No need to complicate things after all.Despite their differences, especially over Illaria, Nicademus knew that there was a tolerated understanding between Harnan and him. The Imperial may rely upon the Knights, but he still showed respect for the Ren, granting them privileges and rewards for their services. Services that not forgotten nor overlooked.Prakith will continue to enjoy it's semi-autonomous status, allowing you to fund and provide for yourselves. In addition, this integration will not remove the special status over your organization. You will still be allowed to pursue your own goals that are in the interest of the Ren... as long as they do not collide with the interests of the Empire.First step, the assuring of previous statuses enjoyed by the Ren.Your role will replace that of what would traditionally by the Inquisition of the Old Empire. Seek and destroy enemies of the First Order both within and without, as you have done before. The only difference is that you will not be a part of the Imperial Intelligence as the old Inquisitorius was. You will report directly to me and serve directly under me. It will afford you your necessary, and well-deserved, freedoms.Second step, define their new role. This will allow you some extra liberties. You will be allowed to commandeer and request the assistance of Imperial units and ships as needed. However, certain commands and units will either require special permission from High Command or be off-limits. In terms of the off-limit groups, the Imperial Guard, the 501st, and the Emperor's Talons will be among them. Special permissions will be required for Ars Moriendi and Malleus Squadron. This list will change with time.Of course, the units named had more important roles, ones that easily were over the top of what the Ren would be doing. They had duties to carry out in the name of the Emperor and by his command. So, it would make sense as to why they would require special permissions. The Emperor would not allow these ships to be entirely diverted so easily. The former of the two fleets patrolled the Coreward territories while the latter lurked within the Outer Rim.Lastly, as an added reward, your fleets will collectively fall under a newly revived Imperial Naval Command, Scourge Squadron. You may choose the flagship, your officers, and crew as you like. It will be entered into the records after this meeting.

Harnan leaned back a little in his seat, suspecting that Nicademus was about to enter into one of his longer explanations. Which, sure enough, it was. The man covered a number of points, such as Prakith retaining semi-autonomous, the Ren retaining their own autonomy while replacing the Inquisitorius, as well as the benefits that came from it, such as being able to commandeer most standard Imperial forces, and finally the revival of Scourge Squadron as the Ren's command. Harnan had not known fully what to expect in terms of a deal from Nicademus. He had been prepared to fight if Nicademus had remotely thought that he could remove any of the Ren's freedoms or make them bend the knee like dogs.
It was a fairly comprehensive proposal and deal. One that Harnan could not really see any further items to add or remove. The First Order would always have enemies within and without, whether they be dissidents wanting to rise up and cause chaos or the meddling of the Coalition. Such work required a certain... deadly hand. One that the Imperial Knights lacked, which would ensure the reliance upon them by any that should succeed Nicademus. Harnan leaned forward, steepling his fingers as he kept his gaze settled upon the Emperor You have certainly thought of just about everything... So long as we will not lose anything with this merger, which, it would seem, we will not, then I have nothing further to add to it. We will gladly deal with any enemy, both within and without... In truth, if we were ever needing to call in any of the mentioned commands to help us deal with a threat, then we have failed as Ren... Such terms are agreeable to me. As for Scourge Squadron, once the Resurgent II-class Battlecruiser is completed, it shall serve as the flagship of the Command under the name... Reaper. It will be a nice step forward after the fleet of red Victory classes that you handed out to the Imperial Knights... He let that comment linger in the air for a moment, his distaste for the Imperial Knights was well known. In fact, despite the best efforts to bring the two groups of Knights closer together, the rift had never been mended. The Imperial Knights were too deeply seated in their dogma, believing themselves as some sort of Imperial Jedi There is, however, one thing I'm curious about... The Deep Core as a whole. Will we contain to retain administration of the Oversector?

The Emperor had expected this deal to be very accommodating to the Ren. Nicademus had always been generous and remembered who his allies were. Now, the Ren would have an integrated and permanent role within the Empire's future, one that would continue after his death and into the reigns of Octavian and his descendants. The Imperial Knights would be the shield, the Ren would be the sword. Vital tools that needed to be used in defense and expansion of the Empire. They may not get along together, but when the battlefield was before them, it seemed both Knights forgot those quarrels and focused on whoever the Imperial's enemy was.
Nicademus heard the comment about Crimson Command, knowing that had been something that Harnan was not happy about. It was hard to please the Ren, but no matter. The Imperial was here to give the Ren the opportunity to be integrated, not to please them. However, on the topic of the Deep Core...
The administration of the Deep Core will not be removed from you. In the future, however, the Grand Moffship will go to one of my children, when they are of age. It is not determined yet, but they will need experience in administration and politics in order to fulfill their roles within the First Order's future.
The Emperor had his own thoughts on the education of Fiora and Octavian, stuff that didn't involve their force training. It was a proper Imperial education that involved the understanding of mathematics, military theory, philosophy, history, politics, and such.
I hope this agreeable with you, Harnan. As they grow older, I will be able to see who is better suited for the role. But for now, no decisions will be made.

It was not an entirely unexpected answer that one day Fiora or Octavian would be granted the Oversector, but it was certainly reassuring. It meant that the Ren would indeed bow to none others but the Royal Family. Assuming all went well, Fiora could be placed in that position to ensure the Ren's influence over the sector, especially considering how much infrastructure it provided them. A lot could be more easily accomplished without another overseeing everything they did and potentially meddling with it. Especially if it came down to Octavian ruling it and the Imperial Knights ended up crawling all over the Deep Core.
There were things the Imperial Knights would not be able to stomach knowing about with their devotion to the light. But they were things that would be needed for the coming battles and wars to be waged. Harnan gave a nod of his head then A perfectly acceptable agreement... After all, Royal Blood is who we answer to... And we know well enough how many within the Imperial command structure feel about the Ren, despite the victories we have handed them... Was there anything further you wished to discuss? I think the terms and details laid out so far are fair and clear...

Harnan remained standing with his back to the doorway as Vardus came into the Command Center and delivered his usual remarks Come closer... He moved to the side a little bit, unblocking the view of the holo display for Vardus to view it. With construction nearing completion, and Vardus' initial training drawing to a close, it was time the newest Ren was introduced to his first command You have come a long way since you first arrived here... Your control is far greater than what it once was, even if there is still much improvement to be done. But the galaxy rarely waits for any of us to be perfect... Construction is almost finished on the first Vigilent-class Star Destroyer which will be placed under your command Vardus. A true test to see just how much of our ways you have truly learned and taken onboard...

Much of the arrogance that had been present in Vardus when he had arrived had long since disappeared. He recognized he still had a way to go before reaching his true potential. It was a pleasant change. Harnan remained silent for a few moments as Vardus studied the ship and made his comments about what would need to be done Your forces will be reassigned to Foerost. You'll have access to any officers and personnel you need to fill the ships command. For now you'll run an initial sector patrol to get a feel for the Deep Core and your new ship. After that, we'll run some combat tests and see how you go... After that? Well... We'll see...

That was a planet deep within the Core, a queer world, covered in sprawling shipyards. "It shall be done. I will conscript only the very best. And whoever fails or wavers in his duty shall be... reprimanded"Vardus added, emotionless behind the mask. "I go now claim my ship and crew, master. As thou willed. We will cull the weak, the ignorants and the feeble-minded of the Galaxy, like the thrice-cursed Jedi"

Harnan gave no further verbal reply, simply nodding his head in response to give Vardus permission to take his leave and attend to the preparations that needed to be made. The Knights of Ren had, for the most part, remained idle and silent. Their numbers had suffered a great many loses over the years. Harnan's own actions had, in many ways, contributed to this current weakness. But those that remained would be the strongest of the Ren, and soon a new member would join their ranks. Someone whom Harnan would train and mold to replace him one day.
Atlantia and Neith were indeed the most senior of the Knights, but they were fighters and not leaders. Vardus was young and impetuous, and while he showed promise that his future could be changed, he was still a blade. There was only one with the blood of Ren running through their veins that could replace him

*It began with flashes of red. Pain? Or something else? These subsided, and then... visions... visions and images... None of them were clear, none of it made sense. Yet it became all he knew, his sole existence. The color red remained familiar, but far less intense; some part of his subconscious recognized it as different. Thus was the constant cycle, of an image and an emotion. Some clearer than others, and yet completely forgotten the next instant. A face, accompanied by respect. A different face, coupled with contempt. Places, emotions ranging from satisfaction to disgust.
In an instant, his mind cleared. He knew these faces, these places. He remembered them all.
He remembered himself.
His eyes shot awake as he sat up, gasping. He could see nothing but a blur, his eyes darting around unfocused, desperate for vision. After a few deep breaths, he closed his eyes and centered himself... a moment later, he opened his eyes once more. Shapes solidified into the form of the Citadel's medbay. No one was present, save for a droid monitoring his vitals.
He made to get out of bed, but the adrenaline recession made him very aware of how weak he felt. Lying back down with a groan, he looked down at his atrophied arms and scowled.* "How long was I like this... ?" *he wondered in a hoarse voice. He continued to look around, at the monitors displaying his vitals, then at the droid.* "You... droid... hail someone..." *He coughed, then sighed as he resigned himself to his current state... for the moment, anyhow.*
"I still... have work to do..."

The droid acted in what could only be described as a state of panic when Soku Ren had finally awoken. The man had been comatose for months on end. Alive but just barely so. As with most things, the march of time had not stopped for the Knight of Ren's body. Thankfully, Soku seemed to recognize that fact moments after attempting to get out of his bed. As instructed, the droid sent an alert out before attending to Soku's vitals and busying itself with several IV's and systems intended to be more productive now that the man they were connected to was now awake and in need of more nourishment.
Several minutes passed, before the black armour clad figure of Harnan Ren strode into the room. The metal plates of his armour shifted ever so softly against one another to create the tell tale ring of his approach. There were few things that surprised him in this universe. Today was one such day. His gaze settled across Soku Ren, his brother whom he had been pretty sure was never going to awaken from his slumber. His brother's wounds had been quite serious and had almost claimed his life. But now, here the man was, laid up in bed and almost entirely healed And here I thought the Force was going to claim you... Good morning brother, nice of you to rejoin us in the land of the living...
