As she slinks her way to the kitchen to recollect the food she had collected earlier, Katsumi chuckles to herself as Harnan tells her to try not to make too much of a mess. After retrieving her plate of fruits, meats, cheeses and vegetables, Katsumi winds her way through the halls to the second unoccupied room she had searched earlier when questing for attire to replace her old, tattered clothing, recalling that she had seen a datapad in the room.
Pleased to find the room still unoccupied, Katsumi inserts the datachip Harnan had given her earlier into the datapad she will borrow, and, seating herself cross-legged atop the bed, removes her helmet, places it facing her on the bedside table, and then eats as she begins her research into Silas Darkstar and the allegedly collapsed Solenbaran Diarchy he claims to have played a hand in helping to collapse. Though she is not in the field, Katsumi eats as though she is from force of habit, quickly cleaning her plate of all save a few fruit peels, vegetable seeds or stems, as though unsure of how long she will be have before interrupted, which means she makes little progress in her research. The fact that the Diarchy, a remnant from the Galactic Empire, had been born from an attempt to cling to the past is evident enough from what intel Katsumi gets through before completing her meal, and explains why three of the surviving main players in the Diarchy have apparently sought refuge or new purpose within the ranks of the First Order. Why Darkstar, the last of the four members of the fallen Diarchy to resurface, has come to offer his services to the Knights of Ren is less clear, Katsumi muses as she slides her plate under the bed and then, replacing her onyx hued skull-like helm, begins making her way to her own quarters as she supposes that the reasons might become more clear when she has finished familiarizing herself with the rest of the intel on the datachip.
Once inside her room, Katsumi retrieves her comforter and sheets from under her bed, uncertain of whether she will sleep atop it, beneath it, or somewhere else entirely when and if she sleeps later, and constructs a little nest for herself on the floor beside the bed, settling into it to continue her research. Her search for the possible reasons Darkstar has come to the Ren while his former compatriots have all gone to the First Order is rewarded after an hour or so spent pouring through the intel; Darkstar's claim about having a hand in the Diarchy's demise seeming to be validated by the available First Order and Knights of Ren intelligence. Leading an attempted coup that led to the utter collapse of the Diarchy not likely to endear him to the other survivors of the power struggle, Darkstar's decision to come to the Ren with offers of ship designs and a spy network alleged to span the galaxy making more sense to Katsumi once she has nearly finished making her way through the exhaustive amount of intel Harnan had given her. The fact that Darkstar had proven disloyal to his previous comrades alone is enough to explain Harnan's reservations, and provides Katsumi more than enough additional motive to do what she can to watch over his, and all their siblings, collective backside where Darkstar is concerned. The possibility that all four members of the deceased Diarchy are playing a long game of some kind, acting in concert though they are scattered throughout the ranks of the First Order and Knights of Ren, exists, but seems remote given Darkstar's apparent role in the demise of the Diarchy, and so Katsumi focuses on him alone, leaving it to Delvardus and others within the First Order to concern themselves with the possibility that the power struggles, infighting and discord that brought the former members of the Diarchy to them means the possibility exists that it will be repeated again sooner or later.
Erasing the data on the datachip after finishing familiarizing herself with it and committing the salient details to memory, Katsumi slides the datchip and datapad under her bed and closes her eyes beneath her helm as she ponders how best to make use of what she has learned in light of what she has been asked to do. Darkstar is currently in orbit over the planet Byss, awaiting the arrival of his forces, meaning she has some time to prepare. Requesting to meet with Darkstar now seems premature, and the fact she has no information about where his base of operation will be once he begins setting up shop on the planet gives Katsumi no way to ensure she can develop an asset and have them in place before he does; something she supposes she can ask Harnan about if the opportunity arises. Darkstar is, if his dossier is not full of exaggeration or misinformation, a seer of no small ability, which Katsumi is intrigued by given her own gifts in the arena, and which means caution is advised in whatever course of action she does take. Crawling under the bed to retrieve the datapad, Katsumi sends an encrypted message to the Purge Trooper in charge of operations in the command center, requesting to be made aware of where Darkstar's operation will be located, or if not presently known, that she be made aware of it as soon as it is. Slipping the borrowed datapad into a pocket of her jacket so that she can assure she gets the Trooper's response as soon as it is made, Katsumi sets the matter of Darkstar aside for the time being to let it percolate in her subconscious, and, after pensively pacing her room for a few moments, moves to a window looking out onto the night sky over the city.
Restless as ever, Katsumi leaves her rooms and, recalling that she has a few items she needs to borrow from shops in the city, makes her way out of the Citadel, using her telepathic gifts and talent in the art of cloaking herself in shadow to avoid any detection by any who might be out and about so late, skulking into the city to do a little bit of stealthy borrowing.

He waved back as she disappeared away down the corridors. He sat there in silence for a moment, before pushing off the table and heading through the Citadel to find the training room where Jin Song was currently training. It didn't take long to locate her after passing by several Purge Troopers that were headed for the medical bay pointed him in the right direction. He came to a stop at the door into the room and watched, waiting for Jin to finish with her current opponent Jin had never once fought fairly in a fight. She was the daughter of the Corusant Underworld where you did what you had to to survive. Luckily she had grown up being looked out for by her dads gang after he died, but there were still rival gangs and creeps to watch out for in Capital City. It was also one of her new favorite past times since coming to train with the Ren to put the hot shot cadets in their place. These young men, cloned and breed from the tube to become purge troopers thought they were the hottest thing on two legs. That was until Jin got ahold of them. Harnan found Jin currently holding one cadet at saber point while a second's head was firmly locked under her free arm. The man under her arm wasn't currently attempting to escape as he was still grasping his crotch and slightly whimpering. Jin gave his head a shake. Oh, hush. I'll make it up to you later... She trailed off as she noticed Harnan by the entrance and watching. Letting go of her captive, she swiftly leapt up and spun. Mid spin she extended her legs to make contact with the heads of both cadets. They fell to the ground in shock. Thanks boys, now, hit the showers and I may join you after. This comment seemed to make up for the rough and unexpected end to the training. Jin deactivated her lightsaber and turned to the Master of the Ren. Welcome back, Harnnnn-mm Master. She corrected herself midsentence. Her disdain for authority figures in general always made words like "master" catch in her throat. But she added a hasty bow to make up for it, knowing that Harnan could crush her quite easily. But would he considering how close she was to Fiora? That was a boundry to test later. Not now.

One look from Harnan was enough to send the pair of Troopers in training out of the training room faster than normal. Having Jin around had exposed some changes to the training regimes and some… design changes that were being implemented for the next generation of Troopers.
Harnan pushed off the door frame and walked toward Jin even as she tried correcting herself and offering a bow in greeting. Truth be told, he was not overly concerned about the way she addressed him. But it did amuse him watching her worry about itIt’s a good thing we chemically infertalised them… Something we won’t have to worry about in the next generation. I take your presence here to mean Fiora has changed back?
... Crawling under the bed to retrieve the datapad, Katsumi sends an encrypted message to the Purge Trooper in charge of operations in the command center, requesting to be made aware of where Darkstar's operation will be located, or if not presently known, that she be made aware of it as soon as it is. The Purge Trooper in the command centre received the encrypted message from Katsumi and immediately pulled up a file which Harnan had signed off on hours earlier. A requisition request for a Cathedral like structure within the heart of the Imperial Control Sector of Byss. Structural diagrams were included, which indicated it had once served the Prophets of the Darkside during the reign of Palpatine. The building was reinforced and had several spaces meant to be filled by shield generators and defensive weapon emplacements. The information was encrypted into a new file and sent back to Katsumi for her to peruse at her leisure

Jin rolled her eyes at the first comment Harnan made. And crossed to a table containing some towels. She wiped the sweat from her face and shot back. Look, it's not my first nerf-herding, I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about that... Also, gross. The towel was dropped in a nearby hamper and she returned to stand before Harnan. She was when I put her to bed. Shortly after you left we had a short sparring match and it seemed to distract her enough that she involuntarily returned to her normal self. Right now she's napping in my room. I made sure to tuck her in for you. She couldn't help but sass those above her rank, it was one of Jin's flaws, but how she loved it. Jin set about resetting the room for those who would use it in the morning, only a handful of hours from now.

Returning to her quarters after her late night borrowing expedition, Katsumi slides the surveillance gear she borrowed from the emporium under her bed, adding the hooded cloak and jacket she had borrowed from her siblings earlier in the day to her collection of borrowed things beneath the bed since she will need the former for the pet bird she hopes to acquire on Byss before long, and supposes having the latter beneath her bed should she reduce her current attire to tatters as she had her last will be handy.
Pacing her room, trailing her hand along the walls or over the few items of dust coated furniture, Katsumi sings softly to herself in Paecian as she begins to clear her often cluttered mind, focusing first on the song as the means to still her roiling thoughts, and then, once her thoughts are becalmed, seating herself cross-legged on the floor and becoming as silent and still as her thoughts as she allows her awareness of the currents of the Shadow in which she swims to expand outward. Soon she can feel her siblings within the ebb and flow of the Shadow's sea, for they are a part of it just as she, all bound together merrily by the Dark Side she knows as the Shadow.
Katsumi smiles unseen beneath her helm as she sinks deeper still, beginning to hear the soft whispering of the Shadow like the muted sounds of the sea when one submerges themselves in it as she submerges herself now in the infinite, oceanic tides of the Shadow, surrendering to its currents and undertow, past and future and present ebbing and flowing. Katsumi feels something huge and unseen beneath the depths passing somewhere down below as she sinks, recognizing from past experiences it as an impending future event that concerns the Ren. She is the Shadow's to command, but Katsumi has come to understand that to serve it she must at times call it to heel and make it heed her. Lust for power, hatred, and anger are the most common lures others might use to call the Shadow to them, but Katsumi's fear has always been the bait she sets, fear of failing her siblings and the Ren chief among her fears, she forges her fear into a blade, then cuts herself with it, allowing her fear to spread in the currents of the Shadow's sea like blood in the water, adopting the posture of prey to invite it in. Like a shark to chum, the Shadow comes and claims her, pulling Katsumi down deeper and deeper, whispering to her as it consumes her whole.
Prophecy is, Katsumi has learned, from experience as well as her training to be a Knight of Ren, a matter of perspective, and to understand the future event that threatens the Ren she must gain enough height above the Shadow's sea to see from a high enough vantage the tributaries and streams of possible events that will, should she not intercede, or may even if she does as to intercede does not guarantee the effort to impede will succeed and not instead lead to exactly what one sought to impede. The depths are not what she needs, and so Katsumi frees herself from the belly of the dark shark she allowed to take her down into the depths where the future's surface rises from and now rises like a winged raven to peer at all of the possible seas and the rivers of possibilities and streams of the past and present that lead to and go forth from them.
Ascending high on the wings fashioned from her will, Katsumi strives for clarity as she soars above the infinite seas of events and, finding the one she seeks, dives down closer to try and divine the nature of the future threat. The sprawling, whirling chaotic tangle of past, future and present events that create the event proves too tangled a web to untangle, but Katusmi sees that of the nigh infinite tangled threads there are three that, if snipped at the right times and in the right orders might undo the whole web of the threat, but she must get closer now, and so she gives up her wings for eight legs to become a spider treading along the webs to see if she can see the identity of the three flies who would become spiders if left long enough to shed their skins trapped within the web. The web jangles wildly as Katsumi scuttles closer, and she hears the Shadow whisper that her time is shorter now, events in motion that may change the web of strongest possibility she has found, and so she scuttles faster, but not fast enough.
Only two of the flies identities are revealed to her before the fragile web breaks and she falls back down towards consciousness. Watching carefully as she calmly falls, Katsumi sees the other interwoven webs of events occurring, to occur and that have occurred to form the warp and weave of the future threat, catching glimpses of possible successful ways to snip here or there to undo the webs, possible failed attempts ending in her death or that of some or all of her siblings, and some that thwart the threat but require her death to ensure the plot already in motion is not thwarted only temporarily.
Covered in sweat as she returns to herself, Katsumi slows her now rapid breathing, replaying what she has seen over and over as she listens intently to the Shadow's whispering suggestions and guidance fade slowly away. Of the many possible paths for her to take, one alone all but guarantees her success, but requires that Katsumi lay down her life in exchange. Trained to be utterly loyal to the Ren, the sacrifice is one Katsumi is willing to make, and so she accepts the cup she has found she must drink from with no sense of hesitation or remorse. She will find and devour the two flies that will lead her to the poisoned third that she must devour too in order to end the threat. There is some small hope that she will find along the way some other way to avoid both the threat and her death, but Katsumi knows seeking those paths or setting off upon them invite failure while the course she has found is as near to certain to succeed as any course set towards the ever changing future can be.
Rising from the floor, Katsumi slinks from her chambers without a backward glance, skulking towards the hangar to wander off for what is almost certain to be the last time.

Jin couldn't hide the slight surprise as she jolted a tiny bit. Oh. She hadn't been a particularly good student. Consistently questioning orders on missions and finding 'creative' ways around taking lives when possible. So the fact that she was being put up to complete her training was a surprise to her. But the question at the end was something that Jin could answer easily. Well, the only reason I agreed to come and be trained here was to stick with Fiora. She needs a dependable friend and someone looking out for her not just because she's royalty or whatever. I recognize that I've gotten wrapped up in things bigger than myself or my home in the Corusant underworld, and I have the opportunity to make sure Fiora doesn't grow into her role as princess and a leader of the First Order feeling like she's alone and isolated at the top of everything. I've always got her back.

He suppress the smile that threatened to break out as Jin was surprised by the revelation she was being promoted. Indeed, Harnan had indeed read reports regarding Jin's... troublesome attitude. But Neith had never really described it as a weakness, but an asset. A sentiment Harnan could well understand and appreciate. Unquestioningly following orders made a good soldier. But a Knight needed to be more than just a good soldier Yes, no... I had no real delusions that you had felt drawn to us of your own accord... But you are right, she does need someone dependable to have her back. A role you have thus far filled successfully... And which should she ever fail, he would ensure she suffered greatly for. His ability to crush her would be insignificant compared to the pain and torture he would inflict upon her. He turned his attention around the training room, inspecting it to make sure everything was mostly reset properly It still leaves me with the question of what to do with you... You're not a Ren, so I cannot Knight you as such. I cannot send you away, nor would I want to... Hmmm.... His shifted his gaze back to Jin a moment, studying her as he mulled over something. An idea slowly forming in that moment. Jin might not be a Ren, but there was something she could be that would allow her to remain here. Something he suspected would not take much convincing for her to agree to While you may not be a Knight of Ren, perhaps you might be willing to be a Knight in The Tribune? It's a special group I'm putting together that will serve under Fiora's command, that will double as her own guard unit. Whatever you may think of or feel about me, there's no one I would trust more with this task than you...

Jin thought for a moment. The idea of having a title at all made her skin crawl, but if it made it easier to stick with Fiora without worrying about whispers of "what's that street rat doing with the princess?" then it may be worth it. Alright, I can manage that. What will I need to do next then?

It was clear Jin was not a big fan of the idea, but as she admitted, she was wrapped up in things much bigger than herself. Imperials loved their titles and sense of propriety. It was the least he could do, to provide some legitimacy for her in their eyes. While the Ren were looked down upon, Fiora was still a much loved public figure and tying Jin to that would be the more important detail A simple swearing of an Oath to protect Fiora from those that threaten her life and well being. After that... There are some candidates for The Tribune I'd like you to put through their paces so you can decide with Fiora who makes her guard unit...

Really? She of all people was going to need to swear an oath to protect Fiora. Jin couldn't not roll her eyes and threw up her hands in frustration at the mere thought of a whole ceremony. However, vetting other potential candidates could be fun. Fine, fine. Anything for Fiora... I'll just be sure to take my frustration out on these candidates to see what they are really made of... Anything else I'll need to do? Please don't say written test. Please don't say written test!

I meant here and now, I don't much do big grand ceremonies Jin... The candidates will be ready and waiting for inspection when you call upon them. Just one final thing... I would request you find Neith. I suspect she'll have need of you... He knew Jin was committed to protecting Fiora, but he also knew the power swearing an oath verbally held. The Force would bind you to it. As for the matter concerning Neith, he felt a disturbance in the Force which he was certain Jin would be of a great help with

Jin exhaled. She knew this was important. The neophyte reached opened herself up to the Force. There would be two witnesses to this, Harnan and the Force itself. She felt the ebb and flow of the Force all around her she felt Harnan's great presence in the force, like a planet's impact on gravity, imposing and grand. But she searched for the familiar feeling of Fiora, her impression on the Force was lesser to Harnan's. For now, that is. Their was potential there, like a boulder held from a great height. She found her friend, resting and at peace. Jin opened her eyes. I swear upon the Force to protect Fiora and serve to the best of my abilities as her Knight, her protector... and her friend. It wouldn't have been Jin if she followed the order to the letter. And besides, to Jin, that last part was the most important.

Harnan smiled, looking relieved almost. He had felt the shift in the Force as Jin opened herself to the Force more and sought out Fiora's presence. Now it would indeed bind her to her word. He picked up his helmet then and slid it back into place Congratulations Jin, you're a Knight of the Tribune. Which means you don't answer to me anymore. Harnan, or Lord Ren, will be just fine... Good luck, and may the Force be with you... He turned and left the training room, leaving Jin to process the implications of what he had just said. While Fiora was a Knight of Ren, The Tribune was Fiora's own unit and fell outside of Harnan's command, as intended

Rising from the floor, Katsumi slinks from her chambers without a backward glance, skulking towards the hangar to wander off for what is almost certain to be the last time. Ever since her sisters return, Neith had kept some attention upon her comings and goings. Not because she did not trust Katsumi, but because she was worried about her. The Ren's numbers were dwindling, and letting her siblings run off recklessly to make those numbers smaller, or even just succumbing to their wounds, was not something Neith intended to do. Thus it was no great shift in her routine when Harnan had asked her to keep an eye on Katsumi and help her sister should anything come up.
Having a connection to the more mystical and esoteric aspects of the Force meant she occasionally had visions, but also a much stronger sense of when things were going to happen. She'd sensed a shift in the Force, and had pre-emptively headed down to the Hangar Bay. Thus she was sitting atop a crate of supplies near the hangar entrance when Kasumi slinked in, heading to her shipOff for another shopping trip?

Her head down as she walks into the hangar while typing away on her borrowed datapad, Katsumi does not look up at first when Neith speaks, merely halting and completing the encrypted message and sending it. The message is to the Purge Trooper in charge of operations in the command center, and contains her recommendations for acquiring and running a civilian asset on Byss to be tasked with beginning remote surveillance on Darkstar's cathedral-like base of operation in the Imperial Control Sector. It was an operation that Katsumi had hoped to run herself, but the visions the Shadow has shown her show that there is but a sliver of a chance that she will return from the hunt she is intent on setting out on, and as Katsumi prefers to keep her promises to her siblings, passing the surveillance operation on to the Purge Trooper along with her recommendations for the civilian candidates she had selected enables her to, after a fashion, watch over Harnan's back as she had promised him.
Stowing the borrowed datapad in a pocket of the ankle length tactical hooded jacket that she has replaced her more usual cloak with, Katsumi looks to Neith, her head tilted to the side at what suggests an inquisitive angle, but which is in fact one of scrutiny. Katsumi, eyes closed behind the darkened lenses of her onyx-hued, grinning, skull-like helm, does not scrutinize Neith, instead looking back upon her memories of the vision the Shadow sent to her to look for a thread of possibility to catch hold of now that Neith's presence has snapped the one she had been scuttling along before as she traced the steps she had made in the vision as she set out on her hunt. There were too many threads to see, all shifting and breaking or being cast out, the future never set and always in motion, but Katsumi had seen there were a few where she and Neith spoke before Katsumi set out alone afterwards to hunt the mice who sought to do harm to her siblings. Fewer still were the threads of possibility she saw that ended with the mice and threat dealt with that did not end with her death, but Katsumi has no fear of death and would lay down her life in exchange for the lives of her siblings without pause.
Stepping onto one of the threads which will lead her to where the Shadow showed her she must be, Katsumi parrots the words she spoke in the vision now, telling Neith in the here and now as she told the Neith that was yet to be in her vision, ::Off to hunt mice.:: Katsumi's soft, rasping voice is the same as it has always been, but there is none of the usual playful lilting cadence in her tone. Only her siblings ever hear that tone, and the one Neith hears now is the tone Katsumi has when on the hunt. Her solitary comings and goings are not new, and Katsumi has never been questioned on them, and as she anticipates no further discussion will be required of her, she inclines her head in a bow and, repeating the words she had spoke in her vision, tells Neith, ::Farewell, sister,:: in a tone that, unbeknownst to Katsumi, has an air of finality suggesting the farewell is one she suspects is a final one.
Walking along the footsteps she had taken in her vision, Katsumi follows the thread from her vision, walking past Neith and the crates she sits upon now just as she had in many threads Katsumi had seen in the vision Shadow sent to her, walking resolutely on towards the battered A-wing she had arrived in.

Neith watched silently and patiently as Katsumi finished writing her message. What ever it was seemed important, but not a matter Neith sought to pry into. For the most part, she was more impressed by her sister's wardrobe change after the rags that Neith had found and treated Katsumi's wound in. A cut to the arm and a day or two back at the base and she seemed reborn almost. It was nice.
After a few moments of silence, Katsumi spoke very sparingly in response to where she was going. Indeed, Neith would not usually question or otherwise interfere with her sister's comings and goings except when necessary for determining the source of a wound. But there was something about her tone and the finality within her farewell that put her on edge. The Force had already tried to warn Neith of something, and Harnan seemed to believe Katsumi should be watched. So she was not about ready to just let this moment be their last together.
She hopped up into a standing position atop the crate and moved to the edge, watching as Katsumi tried walking past and then away from her toward the A-wing Is that really it, sister? Neith drew the Force to herself, directing it down toward her feet as she coiled herself down and then performed an aerial somersault through the air and landed in front of Katsumi. She stood between her sister and the A-wing now, blocking Katsumi's presumably planned quick escape I think, sister, that I could learn a lot from observing you hunt mice...

::Oh, sister,:: Katsumi moans in a soft mournful tone as Neith bars her way, causing more threads of possibility to fray and snap, leaving but a few that would lead Katsumi to where and when she would need to be to end the threat she has foreseen alone. Her soft raspy voice has the cadence of a lament as Katsumi sighs, for the many Neiths she had seen in her visions who leapt from their crates to block the many Katsumis paths nearly all insisted on accompanying their Katsumis on their hunts they would rather have set out on alone. Still, there were some Neiths to be that did let their Katsumis continue on alone, and so Katsumi borrows the words she had heard herselves say in her vision of the possible variations of this moment as she tells Neith, ::I forgive you, sister. You know not what you do. You have severed so many of the strands I could see and commit to memory. I would drink the cup that waits at the end of this hunt down alone, poisoned though it may be, but if you insist I will let you share it with me. Just know, Katsumi warns her sister, that by joining me, you shake me from the threads I foresaw that lead me to succeed no matter my fate at the end, and would leave me with only the strands that are filled with even more uncertainty. ::
Clinging to the hope that Neith will let her pass to hunt alone the three mice who have set in motion a plot against the Ren, Katsumi pleads with Neith, ::Let me pass, sister, and do what I must do to save all of the the Ren, including you. Join this hunt, sister, and the Shadow has shown me that you, or I, or both of us may die before the hunt ends and the threat to the Ren has been averted.::
