Named in honor of Mandalore the Ultimate, the Ani’la-class (or Ultimate) Assault Cruiser was among the waves of new ships that were created to modernize the Mandalorian Navy during the reign of Mandalore the Architect, constructed by MandalMotors and MandalHypernautics. The Assault Cruiser was designated as a powerful, front line vessel to serve as the vanguard for Mandalorian fleets. It drew its inspiration from the time period in which Mandalore the Ultimate reigned and warred across the stars, invoking this image of an impressive vessel.
The Ani’la-class mirrored that of the Cabur-class Cruiser Mark II in firepower, but had a slight advantage in starfighter capacity. 20 heavy turbolaser batteries, 20 medium turbolaser batteries, 10 point defense laser cannons, 4 ion cannons, and 2 tractor beam projectors made up its arsenal. It could carry 2,000 troops into battle and had a complement of 36 starfighters.
