With the defeat of the Galactic Empire at Endor and the Imperial Remnant regrouping over the years into the faction, which would be known as the First Order, it became evident, that the TIE starfighters needed to be overhauled. With the help of Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems the base TIE fighter was overhauled and upgraded to modern combat standards in order to ensure better safety standarts for its pilots. Advancements from the Empire's TIE/ln included on-board deflector shields that provided better protection and offensive capabilities, improved solar cells, and higher-capacity converters.
Being equipped with a Torplex flight computer and a hyperdrive system, TIE/fo's could be managed by one single pilot easily enough. Like it's predecessor model the TIE/fo space superiority fighter is equipped with 2 laser cannons and functions like most products of the TIE line.
