The Tector-class Star Destroyer is practically an imitation of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer, but it was known to have no ventral hangars, similar to the Allegiance-class and smaller Procursator-class. The design allowed for more armor and made it an efficient frontline warship and excelled in ship-to-ship combat. Like its sisters, this warship did require an escort without the ability to carry starfighters. It was built during the Clone Wars and served alongside early models of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Produced in small numbers to determine its efficiency, the ship proved its worth and became a part of the future Imperial Navy.
The Tector-class Star Destroyer is in league with the Allegiance-class Battlecruiser and the Procursator-class Star Destroyer. However, it served a heavier support role, similar to the Allegiance and shared the lack of ventral hangar bays with these other two warships. Its armament was impressive for an escort. In total, it included 50 heavy turbolaser batteries, 60 turbolaser batteries, 20 heavy ion cannons, and 10 octuple barbette turbolaser cannons.
