The MC90 Star Cruiser known as The Acheron appeared within the Raxus Prime system, holding a position some distance from the planet. It had been an agreed upon meeting place between the two parties to discuss something. Victor was waiting down in the Star Cruisers main hangar bay, along with Phoenix and Angel. Victor had been chosen to represent the Alliance in these talks, and he was ready to step up to the plate

Shortly afterward a small, unremarkable shuttle appeared from hyperspace. The timing was not coincidence, as a hidden scout ship had been waiting in system already of the larger craft to appear. The shuttle made its way quickly into the main hanger. Once it had settled down onto its landing struts & extended its ramp, a figure descended onto the deck. The figure was likely a female, but was on the tall side for a woman, much more important though was the powered armor that covered her from head to toe & the rather large cannon she was causally toting. She was careful not to point it at anyone, but the indication was clear that she was more than willing to use it if anyone made any violent or sudden moves. Once she was sure the deck was clear, she remotely signaled to the remaining occupant of the shuttle.
Unlike the first figure, the next woman was much shorter. Her own armor was slim & understated to the bulky nature of the bodyguard's armor. She also wasn't carrying any obvious weapons. She walked directly to the trio waiting for her.
-Aya Good evening, I am Imperator Aya. Shall we proceed to the negotiation room?

The hangar bay had mostly been cleared of soldiers, with only the bare essential flight crews there working on ship repairs and maintenance. As the first armoured figure appeared from the shuttle, Angel and Phoenix had both reached for their lightsabers. But Victor had waved them off before they made any further move to draw their weapons. Victor took a couple steps forward and gave a short bow to the second armour clad figure, as she disembarked the shuttle "Greetings Imperator, welcome aboard The Acheron. Please, follow me..." Victor then walked alongside the Imperator, pointing her in the right direction, as the Knight siblings fell in behind them with the power armoured clad guard. It was a short walk from the hangar bay, to the meeting room that had been set aside for this matter. The room had been swept several times for bugs, with sensor jammers having been installed alongside a sonic damper field. What was to be discussed, would be known only to those within the room and the high command of the Alliance. Victor pulled out a seat then and offered it to Aya "After you..."

The room was rather plain, as was fitting for a briefing room. It also made it easier to sweep for spying devices. While her guardian took up a position in the corner of the room that would grant her a clear line of fire to anyone that made a move, Aya seated herself at one side of the table. So far the marshal had not introduced himself, however his rank insignia was enough to label him as being in the service of Talus. That would make her offer all the more poignant.
-Aya Marshal Marshall, I have an offer to make. My time here is limited so I will cut right to it. You are cut off. Your northern territories are cut off from the bulk of your territories by Infinite Imperium Space & the First Order forward base on Jabiim. You can undoubtedly move couriers & smaller detachments through the zone. But you risk detection & loss with each trip. As for your larger task forces, they are trapped where they are while the First Order can strike at will in either the north or the south.
It was an accurate summery. Technically, larger groups could move safely around the space in the thin corridor of space between Hutt territory & the edge of the galaxy, but that route would take months even at best possible speeds. Now to bait the hook.
-Aya I can grant you free, if discrete, passage through Infinite Imperium space.

Once the Imperator had been seated, Victor moved around the table and took his own seat opposite her. Barely had he sat down, than she had started to talk. So, this was going to be a very brief and discreet meeting. Though, to be fair, considering Aya's position, it made sense she could not risk being away for long. It still amused him to hear people call him Marshall Marshall. A fun little happen stance in which his family name matched that of his rank. Rising through the ranks had also been something of a journey too, especially since there were many a superior officer who made jokes about his name "That is assuming, of course, that the First Order can extend their reach far enough from Jabiim to wedge against the Perlemian Trade Route with your Imperium to properly block that routes off. Jabiim is a long way from FO space and there is at least a half dozen systems between Jabiim and the Perlemian. They'd need to move a lot of ships through your territory to manage it and keep it reinforced..." Victor leaned back in his seat a little, studying the Imperator. It was almost impossible to gauge her response due to the armour she was wearing. It was the one thing he disliked about Mandalorians "And what exactly would you expect from us in return for this safe passage? The Infinite Imperium has sided with the First Order, so it is odd that you would offer us safe passage through your territories..."

-Aya There are larger issues at play, but suffice to say that the Imperium would not benefit from allowing either side to gain too much of an advantage at this stage. As for the price, we do not wish to be reliant of the good graces of the First Order for passage to some of our more far flung colonies. So it would be a reciprocal agreement.
While the colonies themselves were either self supporting or would be as soon as they finished the modernization program, the major issue would be more the moving of fleets through those areas.

Victor appreciated her honesty. The Imperium wanted to better their standing and control. Meaning that while the Alliance and First Order remained at one another's throats, it benefited the Imperium because it would allow them to better expand their holdings. So that was why they had called this meeting. It was interesting to him, that Aya would lay out such information to him. But then, they were not officially at war with one another. Not directly anyway "Quite far flung if what I have heard is true... As far as I can tell, this agreement benefits you, more than us... You get access through space which we can actually control. And you offer us access through space we still have a great freedom to move through. But, I suppose that movement through your territory would benefit us in future moves we make against the First Order... So I suppose we shall agree to it. But Imperator, you play a very dangerous game. I say this purely from an observational stand point. For your plan keeps us both fighting one another whilst you grow and strengthen your territory. But what is to stop either one of us, or even both of us, from deciding to turn upon you?" It was a pure hypothetical, but one he wondered if Aya had considered

Aya actually laughed, it was an obvious enough shield once you were aware of it. Even when both sides were aware of it, it would still wouldn't change.
-Aya It is simple. For the moment we are too large & powerful to put down without a long fight. Our structure is too decentralized & too mobile to bring down quickly or easily. If either side committed the forces to try & wipe the Imperium out, they would leave themselves open to a crushing attack from the other side. And that isn't even considering the blood we would take as our toll.
Aya gave him a moment to think through all the possible ways that could work out.
-Aya As for joining forces to wipe us out. You could burn out every planet we have, & it still wouldn't destroy a tenth of our power base. Haven't you read the histories about all the times wiping out the Mandalorians has failed?
While the result for either the Alliance or the Order was more or less accurate, the result for the Imperium was a bald faced lie. The true damage would be both lower & in some ways higher. If either side managed to launch a magic wave that broke up planets & spread at hyperspace route speeds, the losses in the first few dozen planets would be nearly complete. Beyond that, most Imperium Citizens lived & worked on one of the many hyperspace capable colony ships. The few that didn't were mostly limited to ground installations in Socii Systems. With the word of the attack spreading on the Imperium holonet, most of those Citizens would be able to evacuate in time. The Helot population of the Socii Systems would suffer greatly though, as nearly none of those planets had the ability to transport more than five percent of their population off world. Once that wave had finished, the Citizen losses would be anywhere from a few thousand to half a million of the six billion total. Helot losses would be well over ninety-nine percent for the trillions on trillions that existed.
The secondary losses would start nearly immediately though. The manufacturing & shipyard facilities were already completely hyperspace capable, & often moving to wherever they might be needed. So losses there would be minimal. The hyperspace colonies could last a good while, but the vast majority of them required fairly consistent restocking or resupplying to maintain operations. While the Core Ship design could maintain operations for a thousand years simply by cruising on running power, only ten percent of the colonies made use of those designs. Another quarter were in the process of transferring to one, with the remainder waiting for additional Core Ships to finish modification. The Imperium actually had enough of the Core Ship hulls for twice the current total Citizen population, but the vast majority were not stocked & still retained their standard configuration. Without ports to resupply in, a huge number of the colony ships would be lost. Fortunately, the active Core Ships would be able to recover the majority of the population.
The main blow would be raw materials & agriculture. Raw materials would be a temporary set back, as if the planets in question were cracked open in a Death Star style, they would prove much easier to harvest than the planets in question would have been. Food would be the real killer though. While the Core Ships had the means to produce the food required by their full compliment of passengers, it would take time to build up to that point. The few remaining colonies in other ship models wouldn't even have that. Starvation would begin to set in. While a large amount of the Citizens could be put in cryogenic storage, there wouldn't be enough room to get everyone in time. At this point the few remaining Helots would die, along with another chunk of the Citizens. In the end, the total loses would be all the Helots & between fifteen & twenty percent of the Citizens, with another half of the Citizens in cryogenic storage for months to years.
With the loss of the Helot population, & likely the four creche worlds, Citizen growth would slow to a miserable crawl. Additionally, With the loss of the Helot work force & the revenue from their taxes, the economy of the Imperium would take a heavy nose dive. The Imperium would survive, but it would be a withered shadow of itself for a very long time afterward. Having been set on this mental path though, there were things that could be done to prepare against it. First would be Agriculture ships. Additionally, they could serve as a resource stream in the mean time by parking above city worlds & selling produce at lower prices than food imported from agriworlds. Other steps that would decrease both the initial damage & the secondary damage were already being put into place, but would take some time to finish.

Laughter. Now that was something Victor could work with. You could hide your emotions behind a mask. But tone and sound would always betray a person. Aya was confident in her and her people's position. But that was not unheard of. One could not build an empire if they did not believe they could make it succeed. And Aya certainly seemed like someone who believed the II would do just that. As she spoke, it was clear she had considered the possible betrayal by either side. From Victor's own experience, the Alliance could not really afford to go after the II whilst also fighting the First Order. As it was, the war was pressing the Alliances resources to the edge. Without a central government in any shape, meant that they had only to play with what ever military each world could alone afford to give.
The First Order on the other hand, he suspected could be far more successful than the Alliance alone. If only because they were more organised and had managed to outfit themselves with more ships and soldiers. As for Aya's claim that burning their worlds out would achieve little. That would be wrong to assume. Without a strong foundation to control the space their planets allowed them to control, the II's territory would be diminished considerably. Besides, with a concerted attack, the II navy would be forced to protect what ever assets they had not attached to a planet. Which all in all, would still essentially be a success for both sides.
Yes, as an ideology, not all of the Mandalorians could ever truly be wiped out. But they had been brought to the brink of total destruction many times. In fact, Victor had once read a tale of how the Jedi Knight Revan had once crushed the unity of the Mandalorians by stealing the helm and hiding it in a tomb. As far as he was concerned, none of those attempts had ever failed "Perhaps... So, I guess we have an agreement then Imperator. Free movement for our forces through each others space."

Aya nods. She didn't know how much of her claim he would believe, but it was a moot point in either case.
-Aya Yes, we have an accord. I trust your word is enough to bind this. It would be inconvenient for the both of us if copies of paperwork were to find their way into First Order Hands.
She mentally checked the time again. She had a few more minutes, but the longer she stayed the closer she would be cutting her next appearance.
-Aya Where there any other issues your governments wished to bring up while you have me?

"Of course, my word in this matter is our bond..." Victor was fairly confident it would be worse for the Imperium if such paperwork got into the hands of the First Order. As she asked if there was any further questions, Victor shook his head "Not at all. I trust you will not report any of our movements to the First Order. So that is all. Thank you for your time Imperator..."

Aya stands & gives a very shallow bow.
-Aya The honor was all mine, Marshal Marshall. I imagine we may see each other again.
With that the pair quickly made their way back to the shuttle & left the larger craft. The shuttle must have been idling the hyperspace calculations as it jumped nearly immediately on clearing the Acheron's safety zone. The entire process had taken less than an hour from arrival in the system to departure.

"I imagine so..." Victor smiled and followed Aya back to the hangar bay. He gave a wave to the shuttle as it departed. Phoenix and Angel remained at attention behind him, awaiting further orders. Once the shuttle made its jump to hyperspace, Victor turned to the Knight twins "Right. Let's get back to Mon Cal..." A few minutes later, The Acheron made a jump to hyperspace, heading back to the Alliance head quarters

Raxus Prime - High Orbit.
Floating above the junkyard world of Raxus Prime, a derelict CR-70 was the center of attention. Repair teams and recovery craft swarmed the vessel, getting it prepared for the outrageously risky plan concocted by Hargrave and his new found associate, Galdaart Fel. As Hargrave and Fel were still en route to retrieve the ship, teams had recieved word to begin preparations. Fortunately, the derelict ship was nearly gutted of all non-essential systems. This made it easier to rig the ship up for a one way trip to the surface of Taris, once they proceeded that far. As of right now, the CR-70 was at 72% operational capacity. Flight systems were online as was navigation and life support, but everything else was still being rigged in to function. Hopefully the vessel would be ready for by the time Fel and Hargrave arrived...

Raxus Prime - High Orbit.
The Majestic-Class Heavy Cruiser, Cryptwalker decelerated from hyperspace above the junkyard world of Raxus. Standing on the bridge of the ship, the famed Galdaart Fel off to his left, Vice Admiral Hargrave spoke.
"There she is. Salvaged before she reached the planet's surface. Hull was intact aside from a small breach near her primary coolant pumps. Vented all of engineering into space as the pumps were sucked out. Left the ship dead in the water. Abandoned by whichever outfit had been using her, it left us a perfect vessel for this little scheme of ours, wouldn't you say so, Mr. Fel?"
Hargrave raised an eyebrow quizzically and glanced over to the haggard looking smuggler next to him. Hopefully Fel would see what he saw. An opportunity....

Fel moved toward the fore viewport, reaching out a hand to touch the cold exterior viewer, caressing her from afar. He could see her wounds, see the hastily applied patches and fresh welds, even from this distance. Nodding, he could feel the gears turning, thoughts coalescing. Ideas coming full-circle.
She's perfect, Admiral. What's the overall repair estimate currently?

A small smirk crossed Hargrave's face. Still observing the activity around the CR-70, Hargrave allowed the silence between the two men to linger for a few more seconds before answering the famed spacer.
"Since we've been working the kinks out of this plan for some time now, she should be nearly ready to fly. The lastest estimates put her at three hours away from being fully operational for what we need her to be."
Hargrave then motioned to the bridge crew.
"Take us in. We've got work to do."
After receiving several 'Aye sirs' from the crew, the Majestic-Class heavy cruiser accelerated towards the CR-70.

Three hours. He remembered a time when Wrench gave an estimate of 96 days to lift-off. Hours. Heh. That was nice. Nobody was going to die for having to wait three hours for repairs. Not here, at least. Not now.
Fel smiled at Hargrave as the HC maneuvered toward the much-smaller CR-70. Through the viewport, Fel traced the outline of the ships' damages, the work that had been done, what was left to do. He thought about the past years, hiding from view, when this -- hiding in plain sight -- felt better, purer. When the ship was less than 10,000 m to Starboard, the spacer really looked. Really began to get a feel for the ship, as if he might reach out and hear her stories, hear the songs and battles and woes of the past. He couldn't wait to get aboard. And though her future was sure to burn bright, but have a short life-span, Fel would do his best to make sure she served well. Every old ship (man?) deserved a fitting end. Turning to approach the Admiral, Fel spoke as he arrived at the man's left shoulder.
Admiral -- would it be alright with you if, once we arrived aboard, I had a moment alone on her bridge?

As the Majestic-Class Heavy Cruiser moved closer to the derelict CR-70 Corvette, Hargrave smiled at Fel's last sentence. The man was a true spaceer, through and through. Normally, a request such as this would have been considered oddly out of place, but with Fel being the one who made it, Hargrave didn't need to consider it for very long. Shifting his gaze to the aged spacer beside him, he cleared his throat and spoke.
"Of course. The docking bays are empty for the time being, but the mag field is intact. I'll authorize a shuttle for your use."
As Hargrave moved over to a console and authorized a shuttle for Fel's use, and ensign spoke up.
"Sir, incoming transmission. Priority Alpha."
Nodding his head in acknowledgement, Hargrave cast a glance at Galdaart.
"Go do what you need to do. It seems I need to get back to work..."
With a chuckle, Hargrave left Fel standing by the viewport as he went to deal with the incoming priority transmission...
