As for dub-step stormtroopers and soccer droids: artistic license, plus 20-30 years of tech advancment...
My hypothesis of the new saber is: it's an unstable crystal, and that the "guards" are actually vents to help stability.
The blade looks unfinished, fluctuating, and wavy when ignited. I account this to the fact that this darksider hasn't had any formal training in the construction of a proper synthetic crystal or saber hilt. Basically this is a pho-Sith and his pho-weapon. .
*shrugs*
I did like the rouge squadron/Wedge Antilles cameo.

I think critics of the sabre guard are forgetting that sabre-resistant materials are a thing. I like Jud's hypothesis about the sabre crystal, the thing did look unstable.

I agree with the unstable saber...it's either the sides aren't actually used for saber combat and are exhaust ports due to the instability of the saber, meaning he didn't intend on it looking like a cross guard or it's in fact a cross guard saber. I think many people think that if another saber came down across the side it would slice the side off and kill 'Kylo ren' I think we're calling him. But that don't make sense for the saber to start at the tip of those side ports, even if another saber sliced threw the hilt metal it would hit the beam on the inside.
Also i heard the ball droid scene was actually all practical effect, I'll take that over Jar jar any day. Anything better then the prequels means Star wars is BACK. Just by the look of the gritty junk speeder makes me happy. Recent rumors suggest that Lupita Nyong’o is playing an orange skinned elderly alien. Ahsoka Tano anyone? |
