Cassel keeps his quiet during the remarks made by Tennyson, all of which made him rather... curious. His mind replayed the holorecording of a Mandalorian, identified as Aya Ordinii, speaking with Vlusu, a former naval officer within the Imperial Navy and the founder of the drive for an independent Chiss nation. Did this have anything to do with that meeting? Hard to say. The Ambassador had been told that the Imperial Military would not interfere unless necessary, considering substantial resources were being allocated for the rebuilding of Coruscant and the Emperor's desire to keep good ties with the Chiss.
I can assure you, and your party, that the Empire will not seek any sort of interference nor involvement. Though, I will admit, I have been approached by some of your opponents who went as far as requesting such aid. A bit of an over-exaggeration I always told my son.
Cassel had some connections with the 'Old Guard' politicians but very few were sensible and rational. Some were viewing the Sword and Shield movement as a radical change that needed to be stamped out. The Empire had come to tear down the Ascendancy, rebuild the Chiss, and left when the mission was accomplished. If, ever, this Dominion weakened, the Empire would be back, but it did not seem that way from what Cassel could see.
The Emperor, though, still has a highly vested interest in this region of space. Our Imperial research and scouting teams utilize this territory to replenish supplies and as a last stop before entering the reaches of the Unknown Regions. You are where they come to for all their needs or on their way home. In addition, the Emperor's purpose was to ensure the Chiss were strong, stronger than when they were under the Ascendancy. A weak neighbor within the Unknown Regions would do no good for the Empire nor the galaxy at large.
Cassel slowly leans forward in his chair.
His Imperial Majesty simply wishes to ensure that past treaties would be upheld. Treaties such as our favorable trade agreements, mutual defense, aid to our research and scouting teams, and continued support in patrolling the reaches beyond your civilization. The Emperor never sought to turn your gaze Coreward, but rather, to ensure that there was a strong bulwark, ensuring the safety and security for those beyond. As I know him well, he never sought to keep Chiss Space, unless it was absolutely necessary. His intentions had always been to see the Chiss be strong once more.

Resting her elbows on the table, Tennyson steepled her gloved fingers as she listened to Cassel's reply. Good, it seemed most of what the Emperor desired aligned well with what Tennyson also wanted. Though she had a scowl when he mentioned the members of the former government coming for aid, it soon faded to another half simile.
=Tennyson= Good, then it seems we agree on many things. The Dominion will continue to prove a valuable trade and research partner, safe haven for non-Dominion research teams, and bulwark, as you so precisely put it, against the dangers of the Unknown. The Chiss will be strong again, once the last remnants of this old government are wiped away. We will ensure their is never another invasion such as the Vong or Killiks again. But to do that, my military must be focused on our frontier. I can not afford to hold anything in reserve in case the new Corellian faction starts causing you problems, or worse, the despotic Sith decide to make a move against you. As much as I would welcome the Imperial fleets in a time of our own wars, beyond the Rim, I find it far too risky for my people to sign any sort of mutual defense alliance at this time. Her smile had faded by the end, into a frown, as if a parent was telling their child they couldn't get a pet this year, maybe next. I do hope you and your Emperor can appreciate the position I find myself in.
She paused and took a drink of water, allowing time for Cassel to make a rebuttal or comment on her last statement.

Strange, thought Cassel. The Chiss were focusing a lot on the regions beyond the Rim. Still, in the past, the Emperor had rarely utilized any native Chiss forces. He was content to let them police their own territories and the Unknown Region with the aid of Imperial contingents formerly on both Csilla and Nirauan and still present on Adumar. Though Chiss did join the ranks of the Empire, Nicademus did not seem too rely heavily on the Chiss nor forced them to contribute, beyond taxation and resources when the Chiss were more integrated, to the Empire's efforts.
I do not believe, on record, there has ever been an occasion where the Emperor has called upon Chiss forces to join in his previous campaigns, Admiral-Laureate. Save for the finishing weeks that led to the conclusion of military operations in the Unknown Region. As you, and many others know, His Majesty kept a necessary Imperial force within this region, during Reconstruction and the Special Administrative Zone, but left daily policing and protection mostly to the your own troops. Imperial troops only got involved when necessary.
Cassel leans back in his chair, adjusting his posture to be a bit more comfortable.
The Emperor knew that placing too many of our own troops here would serve no good in the long run, considering our wars, yet depriving your sectors of their troops would only weaken this region of space. He has a great respect for the Chiss, that is why he would never demand any great contribution. Those individuals who joined our ranks, voluntarily, was more than enough of a contribution.
Cassel felt he would need to be more conscious of what was going on more than ever. The Chiss were truly seeking to strike out on their own. The Emperor had ensured that was to be their main goal, but had an agenda of keeping the Chiss as his allies. Now, it seemed like that agenda was not to be fulfilled given the strong sense of neutrality coming from Tennyson.
Nonetheless, the Emperor's goal was to see the Chiss be a stronger nation than they were before. He can only hope that your leadership will ensure that direction. I will inform my master of our conversation and ensure he is aware of our past dealings being upheld and continued, despite the change in government. Imperial forces will be at the ready, nonetheless, if you require our assistance. The Emperor would not want to see the Chiss fall once more.
There was much to convey after this meeting.

The smirk returned to the woman's blue lips. She had achieved half of what she needed, a reaffirmation that the Chiss were not beholden to the Emperor or any Moff. But now for the second thing she needed from this meeting.
=Tennyson= I am so glad we could come to this understanding. But one last thing before you go, admiral... I'm sorry, ambassador. Make sure that your superiors are aware that I will not tolerate any external forces meddling in internal Chiss affairs. No matter how much ex-Empire of the Hand hold outs beg. I guarantee the Chiss will be stronger with the Sword and Shield Dominion in control. Do I make myself clear?
Her voice for the most part had maintained a friendly, if not at times condescending tone (something usually expected when dealing with the Chiss as an outsider). But this last warning was as cold and icy as the world they met on. Her red eyes flashed with the warning against First Order intervention. It was a clear message that she would be moving against Nirauan soon, to solidify her hold on Chiss space. But before Cassel could have much time to respond, the original welcoming smile returned to her face.
=Tennyson= It was so good to see you again, ambassador. Please do clear time in your schedule so that we may dine together under less official pretenses. I would love to catch up with you. And of course, if you need anything else clarified, my office door is always open, for an old friend.
She rose once more, followed by Endelyn and Rothchild. The trio moved to join the Imperial delegation on their way out. A last chance to discuss anything else Cassel wished to know.

The boarders of the Dominion had been secured. And now the Admiral-Laureate, and leader of the Dominion, looked ever out, toward the black, beyond the Rim. Forces were moved hither and tither. Rogue Force users were rounded up and sent to join the state run and overseen organizations. Tennyson was pleased that the First Order was staying out of her people's business, and left them to their devises. She wanted nothing more than for Chiss space to be for the Chiss, and to prepare them for the next threat out of the Unknown.

The Sword and Shield Dominion held steady sway over Chiss Space. Admiral-Laureate Tennyson had reorganized her government, all the while stripping power from the House system and transferring their military and economic power to the state. Tennyson faced resistance, but was many times able to turn the populace to her side. The orator had a way of stirring the people and uniting them to see any not soully loyal to the Dominion as traitors or blockers of progress at best. But still, families clung to power. The Dominion's leader mused with taking more drastic measures.

Work was continued to further The Sword and Shield Dominion's goals. Forays were often sent into the unknown reaches of space to battle potential threats to the Galaxy at large. But not at the cost of the home guard. While the Admiral-Laureate did wish to continue her role as a shield for the known galaxy against that which lurked beyond, she wished to act independently from other nations, to not spend Chiss blood fighting the petty squabbles between the Sith and Jedi, or First Order and Corellia. And so, troops and ships that once belonged to the great houses were nationalized and were reorganized into the Dominion's military.

It has been a long time since the Yuuzhan Vong and Chiss Ascendency had interacted in any meaningful way, at least so far as the reborn Praetorite was aware. There could have been any number of clashes in that time, though it seemed unlikely, given the relatively small presence of either species throughout the galaxy. It may have even been that the last time the two species interacted was when the Treaty of Lwhekk was signed. There was no expectation that the treaty would still be honoured amongst the Chiss, for who could say if the Ascendency still held political dominance or if they had been replaced by another form of governance. The Praetorite did not know, thus it felt a worthwhile risk to reach out through old channels, to see where the standing of their species fell amongst the current rulers of Csilla.Though their technology was not entirely compatible, there were means by which communication could be established between bio-organic and mechanically based technologies. In this case it was through the use of a villip choir fitted with an oggzil biot that allowed a member of the Praetorite to open a transmission channel between the Price of Pain, where the defacto head of the Praetorite currently resided, to the Chiss capital. The initial transmission was audio only.In galactic basic. Greetings respected members of the Chiss. My name is Nem of Domain Yin, Executor and representative for the Praetorite Vong. I am seeking to speak with an ambassador or representative of your current government. Possibly even Aristocra Prarr'ebecc'aelios, as she was the last official representative of the Ascendency we have had contact with.

Time seemed to become an inconsequential matter since his return to Csilla with Riwaza. Since then, the Force Sensitive Chiss has been introduced to the Sword & Shield Dominion and given an overview of how she could play a part in its ventures. While the Chiss were more welcoming of Force Sensitives, the actions of the Jedi and Sith over the past millennia had cautioned them against placing them in political power. Though Nytherias knew it was not a path Riwaza sought to pursue anyway. A smart move on her part.
It was with this commotion in mind, that the initial communication had gone unanswered for a little while. Nytherias had received the recording at his desk, stroking his chin in contemplation as Nem of Domain Yin mentioned Aristocra Prarr'ebecc'aelios. It had been sometime since he had last heard that name. The great House of Prar had long since been banished from Csilla. But Nytherias remembered them fondly. He opened a comm line back upon the same frequency range, in case it got throughI'm afraid to inform you that the Chiss Ascendancy has not ruled on Csilla in a long time Nem of Domain Yin. And a much longer time still since Aristocra Prarr'ebecc'aelios lived and ruled here. But in both their places, I am Field Marshal Sabosen'ytheria'snuruodo of the Sword and Shield Dominion. However, you are welcome to refer to me as Nytherias for simplicity. How might I be... of assistance?

Given her gift of foresight it was probably lucky or unlucky for Vrur'iwaz'auqi, or Riwaza, as she mostly prefered to be called, that she was witnessing these moments in the presence of the very man, that had lead her back to her home world, the cold world, she wished to forsake for a long time. Yet Nytherias hadn't lied, when it came to the Dominion's goals of opening up a new perspective to force users like herself. Over the last months the former private investigator had seen various assets of the Dominion's arsenal, military craft and databanks that held various information. Knowledge of the Ascendency, knowledge that was gathered by Chiss allies of the First Order and as well knowledge of the new faction, that was present. So far though she hadn't read any informations about the Yuuzhan Vong, thus resulting in her to be somewhat anxious about the whole situation. For all that she knew otherwise about the Yuuzhan Vong from brief excerpts she had learnt at her school, back on Coruscant, was mostly based on that one famous incident, which occured, when the Vong invaded the galaxy for the first time. In other words: Other than prejudices she knew nothing at all about the current society of the Yuuzhan Vong. And Riwaza hated prejudices, as a biased opinion rarely lead to a fair and logical analysis of the actual situation.
For now she hoped that the shatterpoint, she had witnessed previously wasn't a bad omen. Now it would come to the negotiations most likely. And like detective work she was probably at least able to investigate herself the case at hand. Thrilling. At least it could provide some fact checking and some better inside into those, that tried to communicate with the current gouvernment.

By this point in time the Executor had the opportunity to speak with Grand Admiral Jenia Kasalle and Emperor Nicademus Delvardus of the First Order, who had shared a few details of what they knew of Csilla's current political environment. He had heard the name Sword and Shield Dominion from their lips, about a civil war fomenting upon the Chiss home world, and the fate that befell the Ascendency. It was regrettable more than unexpected. Friends and allies were always in short order this far out from the galactic core. As it was the Yuuzhan Vong were something of an endangered species, following the events of the war they had brought to the galaxy and subsequently lost. In the Chaos Era that followed, Nem had devoted himself and his political organization to the continued survival of his people. It was the very reason that despite being the fiercest of enemies during war times, in the post war galaxy they had sought out a form of alliance and understanding with their past foe. For peaceful coexistence, let alone cohabitation of the Unknown Regions, he believed some form of binding cooperation was the best way to prevent conflict. Thus he had reached out to the former Ascendency, and now to this Dominion.More detailed information was transmitted over the same frequency. If the Chiss had technology capable of rendering holograms, they would now be able to project a full three dimensional representation of the Executor. He was typical for his race, with sloped forehead, stub like nose, and pointed ears. Dark purple eye sacs bulged and sank beneath glowing mqaaq'it ocular implants, casting an almost nefarious glow about the Yuuzhan Vong, whose thin lips stretched over a mouth of pointed yellow teeth. He was wearing a rather plain set of attire, a simple coat of robeskin over his skin tight cloaker bodysuit.Salutations, Nytherias. For expediency, you in turn are welcome to address me as Nem. I will cut straight to the point. After long absence the reborn Praetorite Vong which I represent have returned to occupy Zonama Sekot. We have communicated with the First Order and have a greater understanding of the current political environment of the galaxy since our initial attempt to contact Csilla. In the interest of avoiding unintended conflict between our two peoples, I was hoping you would be amenable to a meeting, if only to lay bare our intentions and avoid potential misunderstandings. He left it open, given that there was no point to the further negotiation of details without first knowing if the Sword and Shield Dominion was willing to meet in some capacity.

The comms technician detected the incoming information and activated the holoprojector in the Field Marshal's office. In kind, a holoprojection of the seated form of Nytherias was projected back to the Yuuzhan Vong. He was very much also a pretty typical specimen of the Chiss race, with his dark blue/black hair slicked back, glowing red eyes, and cold blue skin. Unlike many Chiss, he had studied the Yuuzhan Vong extensively and so was not all that phased by Nem Yin's appearance. It was certainly disturbing to say the least. He contemplated the offer from Nem Yin to meet and discuss current circumstances.
The Yuuzhan Vong of the past had been warmongers, intent of conquering everything and converting it to their archaic religious ways. But Nytherias did remember the Chiss Ascendancy's previous encounter with the Praetorite Vong. Although, back then, he had been a much more simple Major within the Nuruodo House Phalanx. But even so, the Yuuzhan Vong had opened relations with the First Order now and the Ascendancy back then. At the very least, it was an interesting prospect Very well, Nem... You and your Praetorite Vong have drawn my curiosity. We await your arrival upon Csilla.

Meet on Csilla? When The Executor had proposed the meeting he had been thinking of a more neutral location, but to have the Chiss homeworld extended as the meeting location was beyond his wildest expectations. It was a proposition that required little consideration from the Intendant. Though is was tantamount to walking into a krayt dragons den, for nothing yet had been formalized between them, it was not an opportunity that came around very often, if it had ever happened before. Yes, he would go to Csilla despite the potential risk.
Excellent. Came his swift reply. I will arrive within the system in short order. Until then, Field Marshal Sabosen'ytheria'snuruodo.

Nytherias had considered setting their meeting point upon Nirauan and hosting the Yuuzhan Vong within the Hand of Thrawn. Putting on display the Military might of the Dominion to dissuade any attempts at invasion. However, he knew enough about politics and foreign relations to know the kind of affront that may have caused, surrounding them with so much machinery. And while Nytherias was no politician, he was still a tactician. And tactically speaking, it would hurt these negotiations to offend the Yuuzhan Vong. Instead, it was much better to provide them with a surprise. Once the video link shut off, he motioned for Riwaza to follow him as he left the officeListen and watch closely Riwaza. The Yuuzhan Vong are not to be underestimated. Their lack of a connection to the Force may also test you... He led the way into a shuttle which took them from the Government headquarters where his office had been located, across Csilla to a small estate toward the edge of the city. The Former Estate of House Prar had been maintained and repurposed for use by the Sword & Shield Dominion for training Force Users. The gardens provided a perfect place for the meeting to take place. A pair of tables and several seats were set up for the delegations to make use of, with Nytherias taking a seat while a small team of Chiss Special Forces took up positions nearby as they waited

Following after Nytherias, Riwaza was oddly calm when it came to the situation. She wasn't even sure why exactly. Was it because she had lived all that time on Coruscant anyways as an outsider, who was rarely making friends in those, that others disliked? She didn't actually even knew the answer herself. In either way, the former investigator followed formal after the Field Marshal, dressed in a white uniform with a skirt and heels, so that she would look like another officer of the Sword and Shield Dominion. "You seem to know more than I do now", her single response was, sounding nearly smug, "Because my senses tell me no danger yet. But no worries, I know at least four hiding spots at our meeting point, should things escalate. Plan A is the safe route, Plan B and C are improvised and you will hate me, if it ever comes to Plan D, that's at least what I calculated from your psychological profile so far." Without specifying further though what she meant by that, the Chiss woman eventually took her place as well, since she was familiar with the gardens. After all that was were she was currently training.

Down through the frigid atmosphere of the planet, the yorik-trema 'Blood Chalice' followed a set path plotted by the Chiss towards the meeting destination, passing through the dome and making its final approach towards the former estate of House Prar. Six long segmented spindly legs emerged from the underside of the craft as it hovered over the ground near the gardens, piercing the ground as the bulk of the organic shuttle was lowered and the weight was distributed amongst the landing gear. Peeling away from the bottom of the yorik-trema, a molleung worm that served as a living board ramp slapped the ground and became rigid, while a seam in the hull split as the exterior hatch-sphincter opened. The interior was dimly lit by a series of lambent crystals imbedded in the walls, though two figures began to come into focus as they approached the ramp of organic tissue.
First off the transport was the Intendant himself, Nem of Domain Yin, Executor of the reborn Praetorite Vong. A long robeskin coat hung from his shoulders all the way down to near his ankles, trailing small decorative hooks of bone at the bottom. One could tell the coat was alive just by looking at it, as risen veins writhed and pulsed along its pale charcoal hued length. Beneath the coat he wore a skin-sealed cloaker bodysuit, glossy black and bonded to his flesh through tiny cilia that painfully penetrated the pours of his skin. The cloaker was split from the neck down just above the Yuuzhan Vong's navel, revealing the extensive tattooing that covered most of his chest. Almost perfectly symmetrically placed, the left side of his depicted an image of the Trickster goddess, Yun-Harla, while the right was devoted to the Slayer god, Yun-Yammka. Nem's glowing green mqaaq'it ocular implants illuminated his way off the shuttle, while his dark purple eye sacs pulsed rhythmically to his step. There was a casual swagger in the way he walked, far less rigid and orderly than one might expect of such a militant species.
It was due to a very specific an unusual malaise he suffered from. Having spent countless years in artificially created gravity, Nem was plagued by bouts of illness that flared whenever he was on a planet with naturally formed gravity. It was somewhat akin to a sailor having lost their land legs. He was never as comfortable on the surface of a world as he was within the hull of a starship.
Following Nem down the ramp was his chazrach scribe. He had never actually given the creature a name, what with him considering it more of a tool than a living breathing creature. The old reptilian limped after the Intendant, garbed in a simple tunic and pants of robeskin, while its scaled hands held the Executor's personal qasha, a small organic computer that operated in much the same way as a data-pad. Stuffed into an eel like belt around its waist was a stack of folded parchment and a stylus biot, essentially a living pen then dispensed multi-hued ink when placed against a surface.
As the lush scenery of the garden came into focus, Nem could see a Chiss seated at a set of tables and assumed this must be the Field Marshal he had spoken with. There was a Chiss female seated with him, though it was unclear the Executor what her specific role was. It was possible she was Nytherias' assistant in the same way the chazrach was his. Approaching the table, Nem raised his arms out to the sides and extended his palms to the sky, bowing slightly as he spoke in galactic basic.
"Greetings." He lifted his head and peered at Nytherias at first, then at Riwaza second. "As I am sure your were expecting, I am Nem of Domain Yin, Executor of the Praetorite. But please, call me Nem. I find titles a tedious facet unnecessary to a working dialogue. And believe me when I say, I'm only here to talk."

Without specifying further though what she meant by that, the Chiss woman eventually took her place as well, since she was familiar with the gardens. After all that was were she was currently training. The situation is always changing. I may know more than you do now, but you may notice something I miss... He offered forth a rare smile, taking some small amount of pride in seeing her dressed in the uniform of a Dominion Officer. Truth be told, he had expected her to decline his offer back upon Coruscant. She'd made her life amongst the other races of the galaxy. It was only his word and the protection the Dominion offered her to live a life of relative freedom that convinced herPsych profiles can only paint so much of a picture of a person... But just to be safe, let's hope it doesn't come to any hiding places or escape routes... As the lush scenery of the garden came into focus, Nem could see a Chiss seated at a set of tables and assumed this must be the Field Marshal he had spoken with. The Yuuzhan Vong had forsaken technology eons ago, and turned toward organic sources to provide for their needs. Refinement over many generations had led to the designs the Yuuzhan Vong now used. It was, admittedly, a marvellous achievement for a people to be able to replace mechanical parts with organics. Not that he had any inclination to try replicate what they had done, but there was a part of him curious to examine a vessel one day.
When the vessel landed, he rose from his seat and waited until Nem drew close and returned the bow in greetingIt's a pleasure to meet you Nem. In kind, you may address me as Nytherias, and this is Riwaza. Please, take a seat so that we can talk. The best conflicts, are those that we can avoid...

"Precisely!" Replied Nem excitedly. "And I share the sentiment, Nytherias. That's why having this discussion was so important to me, despite no recent conflicts occurring between our two peoples, at least none that I am aware of."
Walking over to one of the seats, Nem grabbed the chair and twisted it around before seating himself on it backwards, resting his arms upon the back of it as he peered across the table at the two Chiss. His chazrach followed, though it didn't take a seat. Rather it crouched at his side, drawing the stylus biot from its belt and beginning to record the Executor's every spoken word.
"First, let me begin by stating the obvious. The history shared between our species is not a very good one. We invaded, you repelled, we committed heinous acts of galactic genocide, you unleashed a bio-weapon that brought us to near extinction. We've proven rather good at killing one another, but living in peace..." He entwined his fingers, meshing them to imply an uneasy fit. "...not so much. Arguably your people have proven better at killing ours." Untwining his fingers he pointed his long spindly index digit towards the sky. "Please do not be offended, I mean that with the greatest of respect from one soldier to another. Or rather, I should refer to myself as more a veteran. I've put my fighting days behind me, which perhaps is why I am the best suited to serve as a defacto steward of my people. I have no desire for conquest, no stomach for war." He leaned in, his glowing eyes pulsing luminously, speaking in a hushed tone. "I don't even believe in our gods, though I would ask you keep that information to yourselves."
Now he leaned back, almost to the point of falling out of his char, though he gripped its spine to prevent that from happening. Pursing his lips, he struggled to find the words to best express himself. After a moment he felt that he had found them.
"What I am interested in is ensuring that my people do not fade from existence like the vanishing light of a dying star. It was no easy feat to travel the vast emptiness of the intergalactic void to arrive here in this galaxy. That can't have been for nothing. Sooo..." He pulled his backwards leaning body forwards. "...I am pursuing a new agenda, a new path forwards for my people I suppose you could call it. Through efforts of peaceful colonization."

It was curious watching Nem respond, before pulling up a chair and going on about his people and vision for the future. It was like watching a child, before they instantly grew up and became one of those Human Camp Counsellors. It was a somewhat curious display to see from a Yuuzhan Vong. Most standards by which one might gauge and interact with a Vong would be obsolete here. But it was far and away from putting Nytherias on the back foot. Chiss were well known for being a calm and collected people. And the Field Marshal exhibited such qualities with ease No offence taken at all Executor, and I assure you, any opinion expressed here will certainly remain between us. After all, it would not serve either of us well for your lack of faith to become known. Especially if, as you claim, you are pursuing an agenda of peaceful colonization... He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts as he took a sip of some water. Returning to the subject soon after As you've observantly pointed out, The Chiss have become quite skilled at killing Yuuzhan Vong. Historically we were slow to act, waiting until we'd been wronged before lunging for an enemies exposed throat. But I assure you, the Sword & Shield Dominion do not trade in such pacifism. Too many Chiss lives have needlessly been taken by such archaic idealism. We, on the other hand, are more than willing to put down a threat before it becomes dangerous... In saying that, there are a great many threats and dangers beyond the borders of this galaxy which we must combat. Such campaigns consume a limited amount of time and resources. Anything we can divert from hunting the Yuuzhan Vong towards other worthy fights would indeed be appreciated... A ceasefire between my people and yours. We would, of course, be keeping an eye on your ventures to ensure we are not blind-sided by betrayal...

Blind sided by betrayal? Ah yes, they did have a bit of a reputation for not keeping their word. At least so far in their dealings with the infidel races during the war was concerned. It was a reputation proving to be the bane of the Executor's existence. The prudence of it was understandable, despite any assurances he might offer that they would behave themselves. It's what he would do if in the same position.
"I agree with the concept of a cease-fire, I just don't care for the language. It almost implies that we were otherwise at conflict with one another. Which certainly in the past was true, but lately? Not to my knowledge." He scratched the side of his head with a long fingernail, as though coaxing his rotting old brain to come up with something more to his liking. The dark purple eye sacs beneath his mqaaq'it puffed as a thought occurred to him. "In my own personal dealings with the former Chiss Ascendency, we had a formal non-aggression pact. It more or less amounted to the same thing as a ceasefire. We wouldn't be required to assist one another or come to each others aid, as I have always been a firm believer in one reaping what they sow, I believe that's the expression. It was a mutual agreement of respecting each others borders through active avoidance. Which doesn't necessarily sound friendly, but is the logical course of action given how different our species are. I confess, my people still harbor many of the old prejudices and it has been a struggle to change hearts and minds. I am optimistic that it can be done in time, which is why colonization beyond Zonama Sekot was a priority for me."
He rubbed his thumb and index finger together, eliciting a loud 'snap'. Next to him, the chazrach retrieved the Executor's handheld qahsa device, essentially an organic version of a data-pad. This one was fitted with a small metallic spine, similar to the oggzil aboard his ship that allowed the Yuuzhan Vong bio-tech to communicate with mechanical technology. The attachment on his organic tablet was capable of converting and transferring their version of data into something a Chiss questis should be able to properly read.
"Your need to keep an eye on our activities is understandable. We have an unfortunate history of going back on our word, or simply not honoring it at all, much to my great shame. So allow me to share some of what we have been up to." He held up the qahsa. "If you have a data-pad available I should be able to transfer the dossiers I have drawn up on Lehon and Ahch-To. Members of the Praetorite have been scouting out these two worlds as potential sites for Yuuzhan Vong settlements. I will make available the information collected by members of our shaper caste. The have small populations of primitive sentient species already, which is why I thought they would be most suitable, given my peoples distrust of all things mechanical in nature."
