With November just a small collection of days away, NaNoWriMo is most definitely upon us. I'm doing it this year (eek!) and I was wondering which other JvSers were also partaking in the 50,000 word challenge.
For those not aware, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month (although I think it's fair to say it's a fairly international phenomenon by now). The challenge of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. This novel is, generally speaking, something of a first draft - you are not expected to turn out a perfect, finished version once your 30 days are up! Editing, and indeed, further writing, perhaps fleshing your novel out to a more conventional length for a novel, comes later. The idea is to get the bulk of the novel done, get the story down on paper (or pixels), and then you can expand from there.
This page, I thought, would be a nice little place for those of us participating to support each other, follow each other's exploits, and just be aware of who else is crazy enough to take the challenge. Feel free to link your NaNo profiles. Mine is nanowrimo.org/participants/david-mansell/.
