Hi, I have a question. I would like to make a patent for a magnetically accelerated infantry rifle, but can't figure out where to put it. If someone could direct me to the correct place, I would be most appreciative. =)

As far as I remember, there is no real "patent" office right now or something. I was told Taung H'rel was the man to talk to, but when I did, he didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. lmao
I have a Verpine assault-carbine that's a varient of the typical Verp shatter rifle, though I'm facing the same difficulty: Figuring out if it NEEDS approval, and getting it.

Well, I'll put my design here, and see if anybody finds an issue with it. M7 Assault Carbine  Custom built magnetically accelerated slug-thrower carbine. -6mm dura-steel projectiles. -One kilometer per second (3281 feet per second). -Semi-automatic and five round burst functions. -Magazines hold one hundred pellets in a spring loaded chamber. The magazines can be easily reloaded in the field, providing that more of the projectiles are carried loose. |

The Rail gun is a canon example of a projectile weapon that fires via electromagnetic force. A specific "make and model" of rail gun would probably not be out-of-the-question to use in Open RP. (Right so this is the only reason to have a patent: to be able to have "general approval" to use something in the Universe without having to get people you're playing with to agree to it beforehand-- because if no one complains, then it's fine, and if they do complain, then you have the previous approval on hand to debunk their complaint) So the canon example is on your side here. You should put these weapon specs in your profile, as well as the link to the canon example of the tech used, and then it's unlikely that anyone will complain about you using it. Note that I am not giving you specific approval to use this, what I'm saying is that what you want to use is supported by canon relatives, so I think you won't run into problems if you try to use it. And disclaimer, as far as I know rail tech is allowed in the Universe (if it's not, then you shouldn't use this). |
