A whisper called out within Miras' mind. The disembodied voice was that cold uncaring tone that belonged to only one man, Zenchou Piteos.
Still angry for being deceived? The voice paused for a second, as if it it wanted an answer however it started back up a split second later. It hurts doesn't it, having someone you trust with your life put the very thing you entrusted them with into jeopardy?
The coldness of his tone, and the words he spoke would hopefully spark thoughts of the fight that the pair had briefly had. With your anger, I wouldn't be surprised if your Master put you through more....rigorous tests.

I nod a greeting to the droid, before turning to Johun and outlining my flight plan.
I'll be flying out to meet a republic task force that should be more suited to the task at hand than our fighters. You're welcome to travel with me aboard the Twisted Fate or take your own transport. I don't think there will be any extra fighters in the task force, so if you ride with me you'll be stuck in a freighter if we see combat. I aim to be at the rendezvous in two days and then over Ryloth in by the end of the third day. Time is short, choose your path, and may the force guide us both.
I turn and head up the ramp and head for the cockpit. Once there, I close and seal the ramp, having given both Johun and Archie plenty of time to board should that be their choice. I begin starting up the repulsors and other relevant systems, and maneuver the ship out of the hangar and up into the atmosphere of Carida. I gently bring the sublights up to full throttle as I fly almost straight up through the thinning air into orbit. If Johun and Archie take their own craft, I'll activate a homing beacon, so that Johun can follow me to the rendezvous point with the republic task force.

The twin screaming engines that unmistakeably belonged to some variant of a TIE fighter could be heard from the Hangar. Within moments the form of a TIE/D Defender could be made rapidly approaching the base. Any onlookers, specifically Jedi, could feel an foreboding tingle up their spines as the ship approached. It was piloted by a Sith, a Sith that went by Zenchou Piteos. As the TIE/D landed and the top hatch hissed open two pale hands could be seen before the rest of the man.
Piteos launched out of the top and landed on his feet just below it. He wore his usual black spider silk kimono and hakama, and on his upper body he wore a new black spider silk haori. Strapped to his back with the tsuka jutting over his right should was Zenchou, Piteos' daisho a five foot long beskar katana. On his right hip his katana sat, and jutting out of his obi towards his right was the tsuka of his tanto. Hidden underneath his haori and holstered under his armpits were his Verpine Shatter pistol.
Silver eyes turned about the Hangar seeking any familiar face that might still be lingering here. His silver white hair lofting in the wind that whipped about the hangar, as he made his way. No longer did he wear geta, and now chose to have silent rope sandals protect the bottoms of his feet. His face twisted into a false smile, with his eyes mimicking the feigned expression of joviality. Piteos walked steadily towards Adieumus and his new apprentice Syn.
"Jedi," Piteos said with a smirk and a brief nod to Adieumus before turning towards Syn. "I pray that you have at least begun the training commanded to you?" His tone easily conveyed the message that he would be quite displeased if his apprentice had not yet at least tried to begin his task. The usual coldness had a stinging razor like quality to it at this time, as Piteos' clearly saw the importance of a strict regimen when one aspired to learn of his ways.

Johun nodded as Mahir went over the details.
Sounds good. I will take my own ship, the Lux Patronus. It can help if aerial combat is needed. See you there.
I again slightly bowed to my fellow knight as he walked up the ramp and sealed it off. As I began to walk to my ship, the Lux Patronus, I heard my comrade's ship take off for orbit. As I arrived at my ship, I heard the distinct whine of a TIE. Looking toward the entrance I saw a TIE/D land and a man exit. I could feel his darkness from here. Why was a Sith here? He appeared to be speaking to Master Matango. Johun wouldn't leave before making sure Adi didn't need his help.
Adi, do you require my assistance?

Synth responded to Adi while touching a datalink wrist guard that enabled remote access to her ships systems, something very handy to a mandalorian. In doing so she disengaged the Jamming device and powered down her ship. At the same time she hit another button and one of her droids came out producing all her gear and weapons needed for training and recreational purposes and now followed behind her.
"Well Adieumus, I am here for training to be exact, following my blood and the heritage within it, a path that has many lessons and questionable experiences ahead within it. By chance do you have a place that I may stay here and rest?"
She said with a smile as both her and him walked. It wasn't long before she heard the sound of a Imperial Designation of engines, That TIE. Turning to respond to Master Piteos as he asked her a question that she knew was coming.
"Yes Master Piteos, the trip here allowed me to touch upon it, I was just asking Master Adieumus here if he had or knew of a room in which I could settle and continue..."
Synth's senses began to waver as a sense of false security embodied around her, Bogan was calling out to her as something malevolent weighed heavily upon the air in which she breathed, not of sith, nor of Jedi, something , something she knew from long ago, it would take time for he to figure it out but for the meantime she would meditate on this soon as well as that of her training.

A quiet chuckle escaped Adi's lips. Indeed, Dia -was- a bit odd. But it was most certainly part of his charm. The man knew how to get things done, and got them done very well.
"Yeah, that he is. But there is no one better than Diamonte and J-TECH to get stuff done. He is able to do things with computer and holosystems that would make the best Republic slicer crap his pants....and do it in half the time of anyone else. Besides, he builds the best lightsabers in the known universe. Ah....looks like we have company.
Indeed we do, Syn'ira. And hello, Piteos. Good to see you made it in one piece. Would hate to see anything bad happen to you before I get to do it myself."
Adi smiled, trying to show Zenchou that it was a good-natured ribbing he was getting from him, rather than a threat. The man might be a darksider, sure...but he was going to be very valuable in the days to come.
"You guys can bunk in one of the empty crew quarters on level two. I suggest avoiding the other lightsiders around here though. They aren't as....tolerant...as I am toward darksiders. They just don't understand what we are up against fully yet. They will come to appreciate your presence here in short order, I am quite sure. Zenchou, when you have a chance, I would like to speak with you in private. My quarters...just send me a message when you have the time. No rush though.
Miras, you and I are going to pay a visit to Master Diamonte in the lower levels. He has something he wants to show us. If you will excuse us, please?"
Adi bowed his head, and left the hangar, bound for the Lab.

With Master Matango leaving, Johun was satisfied that his help wasn't required. He jumped in his ship, with Arnie in tow, and took off out of the hangar.

"Very well. In a day I will talk to you Acolyte Synth." Piteos says before turning toward Adieumus. He sensed someone there that he had seen before, Johun once a boy on Coruscant when Piteos and Toshiro had skulked into the Jedi temple to assault it. Piteos had removed the hand of a Jedi named Blaze, injured Arrhia, before Vihn had removed his right arm at the elbow causing Piteos' to escape. Piteos' silver eyes turned towards Johun, and his fox like smile and narrowed eyes staid on the man for a brief moment before flicking back over to Adieumus.
"Very well...I will reach out to you with the Force when I am prepared for your meeting." Piteos said, his silver eyes locked upon Adieumus. After that sentence, the Jedi had turned and headed away into the complex, Piteos soon too left the hangar and headed deeper within the ruined Old Republic Base.

Just as he was about to exit he paused, and turned back to his TIE/D Defender. He had left his armour within the hold, and he had to replace the data-gauntlet on his left hand. After removing the entire box that held his beskar'gam as well as a half full bottle he closed the hatch. Turning away he headed back towards the lift that would take him into the other levels of the building. His face seemed to show that he was quite pleased to be here, but that couldn't be any more then a lie. Piteos wasn't displeased of being here either, he honestly didn't care. Piteos was apathetic about this whole encounter, and all of the news he had heard. It was like none of this even mattered, and it didn't. For him.

Synth nods as she and her droid leave the hangar and head to find the sleeping quarters. While she walks she begins to contemplate further on what Master Piteos wanted her to work on.

Giving his head a little shake, as if to clear it, Miras eyed the newcomer critically. Hadn't he seen her on Bimmisaari? 'For Ashla's sake,' the Padawan mused grimly. 'Looks like Adi's collecting darklings.' It was true, the warped taint of the dark side practically boiled off this woman, and Miras could feel something else on her, too. A trace of something familiar...
The sorcerer.
Grinding his teeth, the Corellian only nodded when Adi ordered him to the research lab. It was taking all the discipline he could muster to keep his outrage in check. A vein throbbed in his temple as he sought a more apathetic state of mind. Usually he had no trouble not caring, but this was testing his limits. To make it worse the Padawan swore he could still feel Piteos' insidious touch in the back of his mind, prying away at his thoughts and planting new ones. It was enough to make his skin crawl.
Rolling his neck and wincing at the sharp series of cracks that followed, he turned and sauntered off, heading out of the hangar and toward the turbolift that would take him down to the research lab.

Piteos enters the hangar bay and packs his beskar'gam into his TIE/D Defender's storage compartment in the rear hatch. He stands next to his TIE/D with his arms folded across his chest deep in thought, there was much he had planned to accomplish, but he had promised the Jedi here that for payment he would safeguard the planet for the time. He had something that was calling him, deep from within him he heard his master's voice.
"Little fox.....silver fox...." The voice was almost a complete polar compared to Piteos'. Opposed to Piteos' cold and cruel tone, this one had a warm fiery benevolence to it. A benevolence that was as much a lie as Piteos' smirk.
"Kyubi." Piteos said, his face fading into the vacant stare that it did when he was caught in one of his master's beautiful trances. The markings that were as much a part of his soul as they were his body became warm. And the aura of a much more powerful and sinister being seemed to envelope Piteos.
"You think you completed your training?" The voice was quiet, and calm. "You are a fool." It boomed, shredding through Piteos' psyche as it pierced deep within his core. "You are done with training when I command it...my apprentice."
The heat from the beings voice seemed to lap up at Piteos from all angles. The Manipulation Spell, a technique that Piteos had seemingly created, was only something that his master had taught him. Kyubi, the demon fox, the one that had chosen Piteos and Yuuko in their youth to train. Their training together had caused the two to be married, an arranged marriage between the Kyubi's two prized pupils.
"As you will, Master." Piteos said outloud, caught deep in the trance that the true fox had put upon him.

It is a dark hour for the Jedi order. After escaping the siege on Yavin, newly minted Jedi Master ADIEUMUS MATANGO calls several of the best and brightest to a new secret operations base on the colonial planet of CARIDA. Many heed the call at the first sounding, such as Jedi Master MIKE FRANTZ, and AEL JADE. While others, like Jedi knight DIAMONTE TUHLUTE refuse the call, still in mourning for his lost companion PUCK.
Choosing to take a more aggressive route in order to destabilize the Mandalorian Fleet blockading Yavin IV, Jade is dispatched to destroy a beskar mining and distribution facility, in hopes that cutting supplies can draw the blockade away from Yavin IV.
However, Death Watch Leader DRED VIZSLA contacts the leader of the Mandalorian forces, ASHRAH INTALBO regarding the involvement of the Jedi. In his hatred for the Jedi burning in his mind, he dispatches the venerable and feared TAUNG H'REL to track down and destroy the small Jedi combat force in retaliation. With his sights set on Carida, MAND'ALOR INTALBO intends to send a message to all force users in the Galaxy....

Not three minutes after sending the red alert, Adieumus arrived in the hangar, and as promised, his armor suit was waiting. The QRD commando team was also assembling in the hangar, and getting into their CLoWDS armors. With a sigh, Adi walked over to his own, and climbed inside. It was already 'warmed up', and prepped. The gauntlet repulsors were online, the 25 mm autocannon was loaded, and ready to do what it did best, and all other weapons were showing green.
Ammo would be an issue if they brought numbers though, but if they -did- bring numbers, ammo would be among the least of the worries. There were literally only a handful of troops holding a dilapidated base in the middle of nowhere, with little, if any chance of reinforcement or rescue.
It was a situation Adi was growing very used to, though. Ever since leaving Honoghr, he hadn't operated with many troops. Perhaps they could hold out long enough to allow for an evacuation.....
...Perhaps. Adi wasn't counting on it, though.
Once his armor was set, the Arkanian walked over to the assembling troops, and began to speak.
::Gentlemen, I won't lie or blow smoke up your ass. We have incoming, possibly a -lot- of incoming. There is only one group that would be attacking us here, and if I know the bucketheads, they won't be treading lightly. We are to hold the base as long as we can, to allow for those here to evacuate the facility. We cannot hope to stand against a force like I have known them to bring, sonsabitches. We hold until the base is cleared, then we follow suit, and get the hell outta Dodge.:: The troops looked cool, and calm....QRD was trained to take unbelievable odds, and get through the mission. They had not, however, been geared to hold ground for any length of time...they were quick response troops, meant for shock and awe...not direct front-line combat. Matango knew, as they did, that many of them wouldn't be making it off-world. ::Each and every one of you knows what's at stake here. The Mandos aren't known to be merciful, or nice....they are going to be trying to kill us, with much prejudice.
Give em everything we've got. It's our only chance of survival. We cannot allow this team to fall...we are pretty much all that stands between them, and the complete domination of the peaceful ways we so desire to return to.
...Remember Yavin IV.::
With that, a cry erupted from the 1300 men assembled in the hangar. It started as a dull roar, and continued to grow in intensity. "Rembember Yavin!" was the cry, the men thrusting their fists into the air defiantly. They knew the stakes, they knew the possible cost, and yet, they stood strong. They knew what they had to do, and would do their jobs to the best of their ability.
And their ability? Well, it was far better than average. These men were the best in the universe at what they did, and wouldn't give up without a fight...a damn good one at that. When it came to his life, Adi trusted no other unit more....and he was putting them in harm's way again. Such was the life of a soldier, and a commanding officer.
But that didn't make it any easier.
Adieumus thought about sending a message to Ice, just in case things went sour, but it was probably a moot point, considering that even local communications in the base were very limited, let alone long range coms. The message would more than likely never get to Honoghr, anyway. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind, and began discussing layout for the defense forces. They were very light on weapons, nothing heavier than what Adi himself was carrying. If they rolled in with tanks, or anything heavier than armored personnel carriers, the team might be in trouble. They had to be smart, create a delaying action, and get off world as rapidly as possible. If the Mandalorians were here, they knew where they were going, and what they were doing.
And they would most certainly be ready to fight.....they always were. They were about to face the fight of their lives, however...and Jedi Master Adieumus Matango would ensure that their little conclave here on Carida would live to fight another day, or die trying.

So there it was....
The order for the evac of the base had been given...at least a voluntary one. Not a one of the QRD troopers moved, even though they knew they were probably going to be heavily outnumbered. Matango now knew they couldn't allow anyone inside the base until the others were clear. Moving to the entrance of the hangar, Adi waved for the troops to follow.
They didn't hesitate to follow, and not a word was uttered. They simply knew what they had to do.
As the 'large' group moved out of the hangar, they began breaking into smaller teams...13 to be exact, made up of 99 troopers, equipped with standard CLoWDS armors, with each being led by one trooper in an advanced form, armed with a better repulsor system, a 25mm autocannon on the right shoulder, and armor upgrades derived from the battle data gained on Ossus.
Adi wished there were more of them, but with the limited time between the Darksiders' attack on the planet and when the Watch moved to Carida, only a handful had been completed.
'Twas but yet another wish on a very long list of wishes. They would do what they were trained to do, regardless if they went into combat wearing cardboard armor, and a slingshot...it was just what they did, and they were damn good at it.
Each group of 100 men moved into a sector of the outside of the base, tactically deploying to provide overlapping fields of fire, and taking cover in the ruins of the base. Granted, they were armed with EMP grenades, and republic-era blaster carbines found in the base armory, but it might as well be children's toys against beskar.
Still, if they could slow the advance, they might be able to save lives.
Depending on how long it took the bucketheads to get groundside would determine how well entrenched the men would get. They had some small explosives, and upon reaching their various locations, they would begin laying as best of a defense as they could with their limited arsenal. Not much, but it would buy a little time....
