A message arrives via a holo transmitter from the world of Lianna. Though encrypted and seen safe by the security systems, portions of the message seem to be corrupted, as the file is sent to various destinations and neighbouring Jedi systems.
One, who would listen to the message, would hear the following words from a human captain:To all the Jedi, we have failed! Master Tycon has fallen in the battle of Raxus Prime, they are coming! I served as a captain aboard the Pelta-Class frigate Ambassador before I had to abbandon the Jedi Master's fleet mid-battle. The Quarren Dominion is coming! Their armada is on their way to stop you. Many ##, Quarren and Mon Calamari designs are coming. ## dreadnaughts of the Recusant-class but far more destructive! Before Master Tycon ##, the [ZATARUS] was supposed to [ANNIHILATE] the system. They ## ## delivered the message to us, just before we could make it to Light ##...
But that isn't all! ## something... ## that ## ## deployed ## ## Secundus ## ## was ## ## ambushing ## ## of ## ## unnoticed. ## ## we ## ## nothing ## ## [ONLY THE DARK] of ## ## be ## ## swear ## ## a [YOU CAN NOT KILL OUR GODS FOR THEY WILL RETURN] ## I ## ## outlines ## ## ones ## ## Ithorian ## [MALEVOLENCE SHALL STRIKE YOU ONCE MORE] In ## ## I ## ##, ## [THE VOID BECKONS] darkness ## it. ## ## surrounding [THE SILVER KEY LIES WITHIN THE MAW]... ## is ## [WE AWAIT YOU MASTER FRANTZ] What ## [YOU ARE TOO LATE]
They're here. They ## ## [HAVE TAKEN LIANNA] ## Please, ## kind Masters, [NO ONE CAN SAVE YOU NOW] us before-The transmission abruptly ends, while a great disturbance can be felt within the Force. Something has happened over Lianna. At times Endor could be a hard man to read. This wasn't one of them. Something troubling rippled through the aether and the grand galactic energy field all things were connected to seemed more diminished as though the result of some fell happening. For a brief moment grief threatened to consume the errant knight, but he drew on the strength of those around him, using what was pure and good as a shield against sorrow. His hand came up to rub at his brow, smoothing the creases that came with age and easing away the pain.He listened as he replayed the holo-transmission over and over again, trying to decipher exactly what had happened. By the sounds of it, something terrible had befallen Liana. That would explain the disturbing echo he had felt through the Force. He was still too new to the Corellian Jedi Order to know about all the political or military situations that involved them, but by the sounds of it this Quarren Dominion were bad news. Seriously bad news. Somebody needed to do something, but it wasn't his fight. At least not yet. Reaching into his duffel bag, he felt for a familiar cylinder shape concealed within the pack. When the smooth metal touched the palm of his hand, his wrapped his weathered fingers around it and pulled it from the bag, already feeling attuned to the crystal throbbing inside.Ha. Since when had it ever mattered if it was his fight? There was right and there was wrong. A Jedi didn't balk from action just because it didn't involve them directly. They went were they were needed, to restore balance and banish the darkness with light."I should have known." He said aloud. "There was never any escaping the storm." A breeze ran through the open hangar doors, blowing leaves across the floor that seemed to swirl around the old Jedi as though nature was performing a dance whispered on the wind. He breathed in deeply, feeling more connected to the living Force and dispelling the darkness that threatening to overwhelm. For just the length of a second his eyes seemed to crackle white as though electrically charged.

Johun arrived in the hangar as the announcement and subsequent disturbance in the Force arrive. The disturbance hit Johun hard, causing him to stumble and lean against the wall for support. What could this be? Johun had never felt a disturbance like this before. He continued to lean against the wall, steadying himself, determining what he was to do next.

Brielle steps aside to let a power droid pass by as she and Johun walk into the hangar. Letting Knight Starfield lead the way, Brielle looks around and watches the bustling of the hangar crew, astromechs, power droid and even a Jedi or two as they go about their business. Not familiar with starships and fighters beyond the few she has seen in person or on holovids, Brielle recognizes only a few of the ships in the hangar; an X-wing of some kind here, and a B or A-wing there.
Walking up beside Johun, Brielle asks, "How do we know which are available for training, Knight Starfield?"

Well...
Johun thinks for a minute. He didn't have a ship appropriate for this. Maybe a simulator.
How do you feel about starting out in a simulator?

Brielle sounds more than a little relieved by the idea of learning on a simulator rather than in a real starfighter as she says, "That sounds like an excellent idea, Knight Starfield. Smiling, she jokes, I imagine I stand a far better chance of walking away from a simulated crash than an actual one."

Brielle follows Johun over to the flight simulators, noting as they approach them that some include the presence of an astromech while others do not. Deciding it would probably be best to learn without the aid of an astromech, not only since she could wind up piloting something that does not use one, but also because the droids can be damaged in battles leaving a pilot without their help, Brielle selects a simulator without an astromech.
Sitting in one of the simulators, Brielle straps in and looks around to get a feel of the cockpit layout while finding the controls and instrumentation she can recognize from piloting airspeeders. After she confirms that her feet can reach the toe pedals, Brielle looks over to Johun and says with a somewhat nervous smile, "Ready, Knight Starfield. Well, as ready as I can be anyway."

=Raja= In the months since Master Frantz had taken Raja as his apprentice, the boy had demonstrated a knowledge of starships in general, and especially Corellian freighters, that was unusual for his age, but also somewhat expected given his parentage and childhood. Refueling the Daystar, Master Frantz's personal YT-1930, was handled by the academy's hangar crew, as it was for nearly all vessels, and most other chores around the ship post-mission were handled by the Daystar's droid crew. However, the eleven-year-old had taken such a special interest in one task, and asked so many questions about it, that Mike had eventually given the chore to the boy as his personal task: Inventorying the ship's medbay after every trip, and replenishing the supplies from the pharmacy at the Academy's infirmary.
It was one such inventory chore that Raja was returning from today, as he waved goodbye to the droids, and thrust the level to close the Daystar's boarding ramp. Waiting until a sharp clank and a soft hiss indicated that the ramp had locked itself in the closed place, Raja straighten his robe, tucked his datapad under his left arm, and made his way across the hangar toward the main Academy exit. As he drew closer to the simulator rooms at the rear of the hangar, he heard voices. Once voice was a Knight he'd seen around the Academy, although they had not met yet, but the other voice, far younger and feminine, was completely unfamiliar. Raja hadn't actually seen anyone use the simulators yet, not that he was often here to see it. Curious, he snuck closer for a better look.

Assisting Brielle get settled into the cockpit, Johun takes a step back at the affirmation that she is ready.
Well then, let's begin.
Johun activates the switch to close the cockpit. Brielle wouldn't be able to see out of it, but the cockpit glass itself is a virtual reality simulator. It would be as if she was looking out into this hanger or any other scenario that Johun ran. Johun begins a basic flight training that would familiarize Brielle with the controls and flight parameters.

Raja hadn't actually seen anyone use the simulators yet, not that he was often here to see it. Curious, he snuck closer for a better look. As she tells Knight Starfield that she is ready to begin, Brielle feels the hair at the nape of her neck standing up a little, her awareness of the Force alerting her to the fact that, while she is not in danger, she has drawn the attention of someone. More curious than concerned, Brielle leans out of the simulator and turns towards the very young human boy creeping closer to the simulator, her eyes narrowing briefly as they meet his. Brielle smiles and gives the young human a friendly wave, her narrowed eyes obviously having been an attempt at humor.Well then, let's begin. Hearing Knight Starfield say that they will be starting the lesson, Brielle leans back into the simulator, thinking that maybe she will have the chance to actually meet and speak to the curious young boy later. She doesn't imagine the young human will be so interested that he will stick around long enough for her to finish her lesson, but his robes seem similar to those she has seen other learners or padawans wearing, so Brielle assumes he will be around the academy somewhere.
As the simulation begins, Brielle follows along as the simulator begins describing the positions and purposes of the controls and instrumentation in the cockpit, doing her best to commit them to memory as best as she can. Once she has been familiarized with the cockpit layout, the simulator begins taking her through powering up a starfighter and then lifting off. It takes her three attempts to correctly repeat the sequence of switches to flip to power up a fighter, and another four to actually lift off. Once she is in the air, at least insofar as the virtual reality simulator makes her appear to be, Brielle gets a feel for handling a starfighter in atmosphere, taking it through a few simple maneuvers like banking and diving, as she waits to see what Johun might have in store for her next as she asks, "How am I doing so far, Knight Starfield?"

=Raja= The padawan ducked out of sight momentarily when he was discovered, the long blond padawan braid handing behind his left ear suddenly bobbing violently at the moment. But he caught the humor in the other student's look, and popped back into sight in time to return the wave. For a few moments, Raja continued to watch as the lesson began. He was more curious about how to enter and initiate the simulator than he was about the actual contents of the lesson. The boy felt slightly jealous, for reasons he couldn't entirely explain. He'd grown up around ships, and he regularly went out with Master Frantz in his personal ship. That was way better than any simulator, even if he didn't do any of the flying himself. And yet, here was a girl who appeared to be not much older than himself, being taught to fly. Does that mean he could get similar lessons soon? He would have asked Knight Starfield, but he had not yet met the man, and did not know how he would react.
Getting bored, Raja wander off into another part of the hangar. Those simulators sure looked easy to operate ....

The YT-1500LT Courier-class shuttle sets down in the academy hangar, and the boarding ramp lowers a moment later.
Having commed ahead to let the Jedi know that she would be coming to introduce herself, Sabina has her assistant, Tasmia, remain aboard the shuttle, preferring to meet with whiomever the Jedi have sent to meet with her, and buttons her suit jacket as she makes her way down the boarding ramp. A native Corellian of 45 years old, Sabina has an olive hued complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes and a full-figured build.
A former member of the CDF JAG Corps, Sabina has had some dealings with Jedi in the past, but has yet to meet with any of the more senior members of the Jedi Academy on Corellia. In recent years the Jedi on Corellia have been less involved in the political and military affairs of Corellia, seeming to have narrowed their focus to the training of Jedi Initiates; one of the reasons Sabina has for meeting with the Jedi is to learn whether that withdrawal was a deliberate one, and if they would be interested in becoming more involved with the affairs of the Five Worlds once more, something she believes would benefit all parties involved.
Reaching the foot of the boarding ramp, Sabina waits for whomever has been sent by the academy to meet with her.

Post by Leontyne Ciresi on May 20, 2023 21:54:11 GMT -8
Leontyne, in between assignments, had been at the academy in the archives researching potential sites of archeological interest for her next training mission with her padawan when the academy's hangar chief had contacted her to ask that she meet with Diktat Gaultieri, who had unexpectedly requested a meeting with a headmaster or administrator of the the academy. Though she is neither a headmaster or an administrator, Leontyne had been one of the few senior Jedi Knights present at the academy not currently engaged in teaching a class or otherwise unable to meet with the visiting Diktat.
While politics have never been of any great interest to her, Leontyne has been paying enough attention to the recent changes in the governance of the Five Worlds that she knows who Diktat Gaultieri is, and even a few bits and pieces of information about her life prior to assuming her present role that have been discussed on the holonews even though she knows little to nothing about what she stands for.
Already waiting near the berth that Diktat Gaultieri's shuttle had been directed to land in, Leontyne walks towards the boarding ramp as their guest reaches the end of it, bowing as she greets Sabina, "Diktat Gaultieri, welcome to the Corellian Jedi Academy. I am Knight Ciresi, she introduces herself after rising from the bow and clasping her hands behind her back, and then, curious to learn about the nature of the politician's visit, asks, How may we help you?"

When in Coruscant, Sabina thinks as she returns Knight Ceresi's bow rather than extend her hand for the shake that would feel more natural to her. As much as she would like to ask that Ciresi just call her by her name rather than using her title, Sabina doesn't do so given the Jedi Knight's apparent penchant for formality. Ideally, Sabina thinks, in time she will establish a good enough relationship with Corellia's Jedi that they can dispense with some of the formality.
"Thank you for the welcome, Knight Ciresi, Sabina says in a tone equal parts formal and openly friendly, It is a pleasure to meet you. As for why I'm here, she continues with a smile, I thought it was past due that I introduce myself to Corellia's Jedi, explaining, Past governments like the UFFW had close ties with the academy, and I would like to see that those ties remain firm despite the recent changes."
Pausing before continuing, not sure that Ciresi has the authority to speak on behalf of the Jedi of Coreliia, Sabina decides to feel that question out by saying, "I also have a few ideas about how the Five Worlds and the academy might begin to work more closely together that I would like to discuss, if the opportunity presents itself, of course."

Leontyne nods after Sabina has explained the nature of her visit to the academy, which is to foster a stronger relationship between Corellia's government and the academy than has been the case in recent times. Even though her role as an archaeologist is one that has not often found her working in any capacity with Corellia's government, Leontyne can recall from her time as a padawan that, at one time, the Jedi on Corellia worked closely with not only the government, but also CorSec and the CDF. It has also not escaped Leontyne's notice that, as an Order, the Jedi seem to have taken a step back from affairs in the universe at large, more often than not remaining on the few worlds which have Jedi enclaves or academies on them. Though it is not often a subject that she dwells upon, Leontyne believes that the collapse of the UFFW and senate, which the Jedi Order had been closely tied to, led to the withdrawal of the Order from more actively involving itself in the affairs of the universe than has been the case in the years afterwards. Though she had never been in any of the wars that the Jedi were involved in when the Order worked with the UFFW, Leontyne saw the toll those conflicts took upon the Jedi that were, and so is uncertain whether or not the fact that the Order has withdrawn from such conflicts is necessarily a bad thing.
Correctly reading between the lines of Sabina's followup statement about having come with ideas about how the Jedi of Corellia and the government might begin to work together once more, Leontyne knows that she will need to bring those suggestions to more senior Jedi than herself, and so tells the Diktat, "I would be more than happy to listen to your thoughts, Diktat Gaultieri, and pass them on to my superiors so that they can decide how to act upon them. Pausing as she considers an alternative course of action, Leontyne suggests, Or, we could begin our discussion in the dining hall. It is nearly time for the afternoon break, and some of my superiors might make an appearance. If so, you would be able to present your ideas to them personally."

That answers that question, Sabina thinks after Ciresi's reply reveals that the Jedi Knight does not have the authority to do anything more than pass on to her superiors what they talk about. The possibility of someone with more authority than Ciresi happening into the dining hall, however, is promising, and so Sabina smiles as she says, "I would not mind a nice cup of tea if one is available, Knight Ciresi, so your suggestion about the dining hall sounds good to me."
As they begin making their way from the hangar and into the academy, Sabina asks by way of opening the conversation in an effort to get to know more about the Jedi Knight that is acting as host, "How long have you been with the Jedi here on Corellia, Knight Ciresi?"

Leontyne smiles when Sabina agrees with the suggestion that they make their way to the dining hall, gesturing towards the doors leading from the hangar bay into the academy proper as she says, "We should be able to easily find some tea in the dining hall, as she begins leading the way from the hangar. Replying to the question about how long she has been with the Jedi on Corellia, Leontyne explains, A Jedi Investigator from the academy here discovered my Force Sensitivity while on an assignment on Socorro. I was six at the time. After being informed of my potential, my parents allowed me to be brought here to the academy as a Jedi Initiate."
As they move through the halls of the academy, Leontyne explaining that the Jedi that discovered her potential, Ranieri Greco, ultimately took her on as his Padawan Learner, with the two of them often away from Corellia on assignments during the years she trained with him, they pass a few groups of younglings leaving classrooms or training rooms, giving Leontyne hope that they will come across one of the interim headmasters once they reach the dining hall . . .

As her Padawan learner, Susi, joins her in the lounge of the Daya Tahan, the VCX-100 they will be taking to Arkania, Leontyne holds up one of the matching red modular parka jackets and its accompanying shell bib as she says, "This should fit you, and explains, We'll need them once we leave Adascopolis and venture out into the tundra, adding, I have acquired scarves and goggles and all the other odds and ends we will need."
Susi takes the parka and bib with a skeptical look and snaps one of the bib's suspenders as she quips, "Maybe we'll get lucky and the page will turn out to be a fake, sparing us the need to wear all of this, not sounding terribly hopeful about the prospect of the page filled with Sith writing turning out to be counterfeited, and then tosses the insulated snow gear onto a couch as she peers ahead of the lounge into to the cockpit as she asks, Is our FEG almost done with the pre-flight checks? Without waiting for that reply, she asks the most important question of all to her given her impressive appetite, Are we well stocked with provisions?"
Chuckling at Susi's not very surprising concern about their food stores, Leontyne assures her, "We have a month's food supply, joking, which should last us at least a week even with your fathomless appetite. Motioning for Susi to follow her to the cockpit, Leontyne says, Let's go and see how our pilot is doing."
The FEG-series pilot droid that will taking them to Arkania is nearly done with its pre-flight checks when Leontyne and Susi reach the cockpit, and is taking the VCX-100 into the air moments later.

A fiery orange streak fell through the sky, emerging from fluffy white clouds to reveal a damaged BTL-S3 Y-wing starfighter spinning haphazardly towards the entrance of the Jedi Academy's hangar, which was fortunately already open since they were coming in hot. Flames bled from the left engine while the right breathed dark smoke, the ship not so much flying towards the surface as it was gliding at a dangerously steep angle. Inside the cockpit, a bushy bearded pilot in a orange rebel flight suit pulled back hard on the steering yoke, trying to pull the nose of the starfighter up as much as possible. Warning alarms bleated and the control console in front of him was full of all manner of alerts. This was going to be close. The rebel General grit his teeth and looked over his shoulder towards the greying ewok sitting in the gunner seat behind him. "Tarfang, prepare to eject." It was the only thing he could think of to prevent them from going splat against the rapidly nearing Jedi Academy. Unfortunately his comrade in crime had some bad news to offer on that account. "There are no ejection seats. You got rid of that feature to make room for the coaxium tank." Endor muttered a curse. "Palpatine's wrinkled nut-sac. Alright, hang on. This isn't going to be pretty."
Closing his eyes, the former Jedi turned rebel organizer let out a slow breath, finding his calm centre despite the chaos of the cockpit. Like the warm embrace of a long time lover, he felt the caress of the Living Force, offering its aid yet again. Wind currents rose beneath the downwards streaking snubfighter, raising the fuselage just as the Y-wing came in over the forest, barely missing the leafy canopy. Behind Endor, Tarfang removed the paws he had been holding over his one remaining eye and looked out the side of the cockpit window, his mouth agape briefly before snapping shut. At ninety years of age, there wasn't much the old ewok space pirate hadn't seen. This was probably about the thousandth time or so he'd narrowly avoided death, if only for a moment. They still had to land. "There it is." Said Endor, pointing at the hangar entrance just ahead. "Here goes nothing."
Taking another deep breath, Endor reached out and began to draw the air currents ahead of them towards the Y-wing, buffeting the starfighter in order to slow its approach. The odometer began to tick lower as they lost more and more speed. Just as they reached the entrance of the hangar, a last gust of wind gave them just enough of a push to stop near completely, which caused the damaged Y-wing to drop like a stone and screech across the hangar floor until it came to a stop just shy of a YT-1930. The General waved a hand in front of his face, brushing away smoke as he squinted at the freighter directly in front of them. Sweet baby Yoda. He'd almost crashed into the Headmaster's ship. That probably wouldn't go over very well since he was here to ask the cranky old codger for help. Rising from his seat, he pushed the cockpit canopy open with his shoulders and stumbled out of the Y-wing, coughing up smoke as he fell onto the ground. Tarfang was shortly behind him, landing his boney butt directly on Endor's stomach and knocking the wind out of him.
"Ouphf!" Sputtered the General, before giving the one eyed ewok a shove. "Get off of me, you mangey pirate." He managed to climb back to his feet as his astromech R6 popped free of the snubfighters droid socket and began to spray the parts of the ship that were on fire with carbon-dioxide.
