*Avarath stood outside of the entrance to the Jedi temple ill at ease on the city planet. How could anyone choose to live in such a place? she thought to herself. Avarath preferred open areas, or dense jungles to the masses of duracrete towering into the sky. The closeness of the cities, even in the more open air of the Jedi Temple was enough to give her a sense of clausterphobia.
She was cloaked in a soft, brown robe against the chill wind of winter while she waited for the droid to return with Syren. It was the first thing to approach her on the walk way. It had been awkward and quite when she asked it questions about Syren, when she gave it the name she was using on Coruscant.
She spied the pair as they withdrew from the Temple, Syren walking with an uncharacteristic hesitance offset behind the droid. Avarath smirked at this. He was right about her then. It would be painfully easy to just dispatch her now in this state... but Aydyn would not like it.
Not to mention, said her after thougths, that the Jedi would probably not be fond of cleaning up the blood. And furthermore, how hard would it be to get away in this place you do not know. She hissed to herself in irritation with that inner voice. Her hand reached within the depths of the robe to grasp a long cylinder.*
~Nole hi.~ *Avarath offered a greeting in Lalambe to Syren as she drew closer.
The reaction was priceless. Syren halted immediately, unsure if she had heard correctly. With the hood pulled over Avarath's face, Syren could not see properly enough to tell who this was. Cautiously she replied,* ~Ve hi.~
*The droid made a sound that almost sounded startled.* What kind of language is this? I am fluent in over two million forms of communication, but have not encountered this before. It sounds vaguely of a Ruttillian trade language, but you make the slightest of gestures when the sounds come out! Is it a combination language?
*Syren was about to answer the droid when Avarath cut in,* ~Ignore the abomination, nole. I have a message for you, then I must go.~
~How do you know me?~ *Since Avarath wanted to cut to the chase, Syren had no problem doing the same. Slowly the pair began to circle each other, sizing one another up. Again, Avarath was immensely amused by this. She pulled out the long cylinder, holding it out in an open palm towards Syren.*
Oh! That's a lightsaber, if ever I saw one. A bit long though, isn't it? Should it only be a third of the size?
*The hilt was a deep black, scored along the sides with veins of blue on one half and veins of red on the other. To Syren, those veins seemed to glow ever so faintly. Avarath tossed the hilt at Syren.* ~He said you would need this soon.~
*Syren reached out for the weapon reflexively and caught it. It seemed to be made of a dense stone, but was radiating heat that seemed to travel up her arm. She looked at the hilt for a moment, then back towards Avarath. But the cloaked figure was gone. Syren stepped up to the edge of the platform and looked past the edge for any sign of where she might have gone. Then a sharp ache began at the base of her skull, quickly blossoming into extreme pain that made her knees buckle and caused her to retch out into the void of Coruscant.
C4-G6 tried to pull Syren back from the edge, curled into a fetal position with her hand cramped into a claw around the hilt of the lightsaber. Syren slipped into unconsciousness trying to escape.

Jedi Knight Jordan Halcyon descended the hallowed steps of the Jedi Temple's main entrance at a rate just slightly above that of his normal casual walking pace. His thick black hair rippled slightly as the turbulence from a passing airspeeder washed over him, but the young Jedi barely blinked his deep grey eyes. He had been assigned to an important task as a liaison between the Republic and a Sith warlord who had appeared rather suddenly in orbit and demanded a meeting. Jordan knew that this was a duty which would ordinarily have been given to a more experienced Jedi, but with the Mandalorian War raging in the Outer Rim, the Jedi Order was becoming stretched, and so the important diplomatic matter had fallen on his twenty-five year old shoulders.
He glanced down self-consciously at his green robes and the hilt of his brilliant blue saber for reassurance as he reached the base of the stairs, then began to scan the chaos and crowds of the crowded Processional Way for an available airspeeder for hire. Not that he could depart yet. He was still waiting for the ambassador to send him a location. After a few moments' wait, Jordan's comlink buzzed again, and he tapped his earpiece to receive the call. After listening for a moment, he nodded to himself, and hailed the nearest airspeeder cab. Quiet, peaceful resolve spread over his face as he pondered the dangers of his task. He was surprised that the task had not been entrusted to a more senior Jedi. That meant one of three things: either this Sith lord had requested Jordan by name (unlikely, given his youth and relative anonymity), or the Republic expected an all-out trap and wanted to send an expendable Jedi (which seemed at odds with the Republic's ego, since they would want to send a high-ranking Jedi), or, most likely but most worrying, the Jedi Order was becoming even more stretched by the Mando assault.
"Take me to Augene airlane, the Dariis Tower." He instructed the droid pilot, who make a clicking sound, and sped off, making a quick right and an immediate, stomach churning left, before leaving the Senate District entirely. And now the real fun would begin. The Vor leader had explicitly said that he could bring a lightsaber, but was it a courtesy, or was it a test?

Temple Meditation Garden
A place of peace, a place of tranquility and complete oneness with the force and yet even its flowing streams, gentle winds and myriad of life could not ease the darkness that crept around the edges of his mind, no peace could he find not until balance was restored and the balance was shifting and not in the favor of the ever benevolent light side.
He opened his eyes and smiled grimly as he surveyed all around him, he released the tense grip he had unknowingly retained on his quarterstaff and bowed his head, chin dipping to his chest.
There was no miracle answer, no flash of inspiration, some were naive enough to believe that the force worked that way, that it would just come along and make everything alright again, that it provided one instantly with what one needed or wanted, but no, all Jedi came to learn soon enough that the will of the force was not as easy to listen to or follow as some would have you believe. Sometimes you had to interpret that will.
Khe'taka exhaled slowly then lifting his towering bulky frame in a manner most effortless and serene that belied all outward appearances. Collecting his wooden staff in hand he turned and walked to the stream and dipped the end of his staff in the water, swirling the stave to create a whirlpool. Yes, motion, and somehow the stirring of his stick in the water brought the revelation to his mind that the force was stirring just as was the water and then if such be the case, what or who was doing the stirring. Nodding, satisfied with his conclusion he withdrew his staff and turned away from the stream headed back toward one of the many paths that wound its way through the garden.

Coruscant. The center of the galaxy. The skies over the Jedi Temple were clear. On the breeze, the smell of metal and smoke traveled. The sun was at it's highest point in the day when a Theta-class T-2c shuttle landed on the public landing platform.
A hiss was heard as the passenger doors opened, almost as if the shuttle was relieved to touchdown and let go of it's cargo. In an orderly fashion, several younglings stepped out onto the platform with a handful of teachers and Jedi Knights.
Many of the students looks around. While most stood in awe, one youngling stood looking upon the the circling roofs of the Jedi Temple.
His face was hidden behind a blindfold. Miraluka. Standing atop the Temple stood many 'lights'. Jedi Guardians? Likely.
"Xenas!"
A male voice. One of his teachers. He turned his attention to the origin and saw a families 'light'. From behind his teacher the temple, in its whole seemed to give off a small glow.
"Come, Xenas."
The same voice. The second cry snapped the Miraluka boy out of his distraction. He made his way over to the rest of the group. The teacher, walking on his left, placed a gentle hand on Xenas's left shoulder as the group proceeded into the Jesi Temple.

Waiting just outside the monumental doors leading into the Jedi Temple stood a Jedi female in the traditional garb of the Order. She was nearly thirty standard years of age, with brown hair trimmed into a short pixie cut that framed her face and brought out her deep blue eyes. She was holding a datapad that she'd been examining for the past fifteen minutes, scrolling through a list of the latest potential initiates that would be arriving shortly.
As one of the Temple's transport shuttles set down and offloaded a small group of people, she smiled warmly, radiating welcome as she stepped forward to greet the new arrivals.
"It seems you have once again brought us promising initiates, Master Fel'un?" she inquired, as he began shepherding the group into the Temple.
One of them seemed more interested in examining his new surroundings. Evidently he possessed a healthy sense of curiosity. Keen eyes took in the blindfold that many Miralukans wore, and with a few quiet words to Master Fel'un assured him that she'd see to it he reached the residential wing safely.
Glancing once more at her datapad for reference, she approached the Miralukan boy and greeted him, "Welcome to Coruscant, Initiate Xenas Junshur."

An unfamiliar voice. Female. An unfamiliar, but bright, light. A new Jedi addressed him. Her voice was soft, welcoming. He smiled at her and bowed at thirty degrees to signify respect.
"Thank you, Master." He said, head down, "I hope to learn more here."
He hoped that she would excuse the lack of knowing her name. He was unsure if he should stay with the new Jedi, or proceed with his teachers. This was all a tad bit overwhelming.

"I am Mei Ondreyu, Knight." she introduced herself, "Do not worry, I have cleared it with Master Fel'un. This way you have a bit more time to familiarize yourself with the surroundings. I am guessing this is your first visit to Coruscant?" she continued, basing the inquiry off the sense of bewildered awe that tinged his presence in the Force. This was normal for newly arrived Initiates.
"There is much to be learned, this is the journey of life." Mei reflected for a moment. "I myself am still learning though I do not often go abroad from this Temple."

He watched as Master Fel'un and his fellow youngling walked on, some waving before they turned their attention back to their destination. This was a surprise.
"Thank you," He said, bowing once again. "Master Ondreyu." Maybe it would just be wiser to stay in the position?
She was kind. He'd met kind people before. Many Jedi are kind, albeit stoic. She asked if this was his first visit.
"Yes." He said, straightening up. "This is my first time off Corellia."
At his response she gave welcoming advise. The journey of life. One of never ending education. Excitement took the better part of his nerves, though be tried to remain calm. He smiled again. Then she added to her advise. She'd been to other worlds. But rarely? The archives here must be grandiose if it keeps seekers of knowledge bound to one place.
"You seldom leave?" He asked.

Mei smiled warmly in response to the repeated bowing. "It's alright, I'm not one of those who stand upon ceremony. The situations I tend to be involved in don't generally have room for that type of thing." She worked in the large medical facilities mostly, studying the art of Healing.
"Corellia?" She folded her arms in front of herself, burying her hands in the capacious sleeves of her voluminous sandy brown outer robe, considering this. Corellia housed a vibrant Jedi academy of its own, however, the transfer of a few likely Initiates to Coruscant might well be part of the recent restructuring of the Order. "A planet of many wonders and unique beauties, if I have heard correctly."
"I travel when it is necessary, but not all Jedi are glamorous heroes, you know. Each of us has important tasks to perform within the Order as a whole organism." Perhaps that wasn't the best thing to tell someone who was knew and probably had been raised on stories of Jedi. But, reality exists, and it is healthier in the long run to speak the truth and allow people access to the knowledge that will allow them to make intelligent decisions.
Mei Ondreyu looked past Xenas for a moment, feeling the auras of people nearby. One of them seemed to be moving their direction in a non-threatening, but inquisitive way.

it was a quiet day on Coruscant. As the actions of the senate had not sparked the interest of the latest new cycle, so I chose to start the day jogging down to a small village (or rather a small section of the city planet) to a little shoppe to pick up a bite of food for the morning. bit of a habit, their quiche is the best in the sector… and as always, I would pick up a small bag of goodies with a piece shortbread, a bottle of fresh squeezed juice, and another cheap goodie that I would pass off to the first person I saw return to the temple… today, that was Knight Mei Ondreyu.
“Morning Mei, I got you breakfast” I said, thrusting the paper bag into Mei’s hand… I was about to move on, when I saw the Miralukan boy.
“Oh hello, and who sir… are you sir?”

Her voice was softer than his teachers. He was unaccustomed to informality with his superiors. Is this a test? A gauge of my discipline? Has Fel'un ever done something like this before?
The safe answer was to remain formal. Many Younglings try to keep an impartial fade when speaking to a teacher. Maybe this will be looked at the same.
His train of thought was broken when when he heard the word "Jedi". He knew there were others besides the battle ready Guardians. The Consulars dedicated themselves to mastering the Force and, when needed, acting diplomats. The Sentinels were spread across the worlds, all taking in informa-
His thought process was harshly interrupted when a male voice cut through the air. Was that a sound of a bag? Suddenly the voice was addressing him.
"Oh! I am Xenas Junshur. He said, bowing in respect once again.

"Good morning, Master Ulshade," Mei greeted him brightly, gratefully accepting the pastry, a luscious flaky croissant bun filled with fruit jelly. "Thank you." She carefully broke it in half and offered one of the pieces to Xenas.
"I imagine you are hungry after your trip, Xenas? Auric knows my favorite bakery nearby the Temple."
Mei Ondreyu could tell that Xenas was feeling uneasy and unfamiliar with his surroundings, so reflecting her calmest feelings in his direction she attempted to make him feel welcome here.

Master Ulshade. The name seemed familiar, but the memory was hazy. Likely due to fatigue from the interplanetary flight.
The scent of something sweet filled his nose. It was a nice change from the normal scent of the ecumenopolis. He looked up, hearing the welcoming voice again. A layered bread was being offered to him.
At first Xenas thought it was bleeding. Why he would think that first, he did not know. After a small moment of realization, he realized that it was jelly. He felt less anxious due to the gesture.
"Thank you, Mater Ondreyu, but I must refuse." He said, his stomach letting out a small grumble in protest, "It would be unkind of me to eat without my fellow Younglings."

Temple Meditation GardenHe meandered his way ck through the garden his staff marking out his steps with its gentle and repetitive rap, tap. As he moved he felt the force coalesce around him, it was a brief feeling of warmth, a short glimpse as the fog cleared and it came as a sensation that told him where he needed to go was toward the great conclave like entrance hall.
Just as quickly as the feeling flashed into his mind, it was gone again. Khet'taka did not question it, he had been a Jedi for long enough to just accept the subtle guidance of the Force. Where it would lead, he did not know, all was a mystery, but in everything lay a reason, the mysticism of the Force was understandably beyond his comprehension. In his youth he had often attempted to get his head around it, but now, now he just accepted.
Khe'taka made his way out of the Gardens and walked along the well lit corridor bathed in natural light directed downward by specially constructed shafts. He wound his way toward the nearest turbolift and hit the button, the lift began its rapid descent down toward the main entrance atrium.Main Entrance hall - AtriumThe turbolift in the Atrium pinged, the doors slid open with a gentle swish and out stepped a colossal being, over two meters tall and he was well built, covered in long fur and with a pair of rather dangerous tusks, to say he cut an intimidating sight was an understatement, and yet beneath the broad shadowy brim of the woven conical hat seated on his head gleamed two intelligent and kind eyes. He slid two giant hands down his robes to iron out the creases and then spotting the throng of largely young and seemingly unadorned of Jedi trappings. Khe'taka safely assumed they were the latest intake of would be initiates and noticing a few more experienced Jedi he made his way toward the gathering noticing one Miralukan boy wore the simple garb of that customarily worn by Initiates.
He hovered on the edge of the group until there was a pause and then he stepped forward and dipped his head in greeting.

Mei shrugged, surprised by Xenas' answer. "Not everyone eats at the same time you know." Still, she did manage to confine her amusement to a small smile as she enjoyed the sticky pastry herself.
"Khe'taka," she welcomed the man in a conical hat, "salutations on a sunny morning."
Eventually she'd have to get back to work, but she waited a few minutes to make sure Xenas didn't get lost. She suspected that three higher-ranking Jedi talking to him might be a bit intimidating.

I smiled at Ms. Ondreyu, more often than not, she was usuallythe first one i ran into coming back from the bakery, and having a moment to chat was always good. yes the bakery was expensive, but it was a nice treat with a cut of money that was almost thrust upon me by mr. Kryze….
“well, you should be getting a taste for it… you are usually the first person i can hand the bag off to”
then smiling to the youngling i nodded
“It is a pleasure to meet you Xenas-chi…”
I winked at the youngling before continuing…
“If you would like, i could take the class of younglings down to the bakery for a small bit of breakfast.”
turning to the new jedi i nodded
"Hail Khe'taka-chi, how are you today?"

A cocked head was all he could managed. The confusion was apparent. He and his clan mates would always eat together. Maybe things were different here.
As his thoughts ended a towering Whiphid joined the conversation. He'd been taught that many Whiphids were primitive creatures, but was informed that there were some among the Jedi. We're they primitive as well?
His? His. His voice was guttural, but clear. Intelligent. Welcoming. His 'light' was equally as welcoming.
Then it donned on him. Xenas was being addressed by another Jedi. He bowed again. This time he would remain in his position. It would be wiser to just remain at a thirty-degree slant.
"Hello, Master Khe'taka." He said, head down.

Turning at first to the young man whom had spoken Khe'taka acknowledged him with a polite nod. The man could be no more than perhaps twenty Human standard years, khe'taka had never really figured out the aging process of those akin to Human's, but one thing he did know was that they were a varied, intelligent and resourceful kind and many a member had grown to become a talented Jedi."I am well today, it seems not only the light of day, but Ashla too has come to shine on us."
Khe'taka did not speak of the darker current he detected, that could save for a more private talk, he did not wish to startle or alarm the young initiate
"And you, my young friend where do you hail from?"
The Whipid then spoke to the Miralukan boy; opening himself to the flow of the force. Khe'taka centered himself and as he did he felt the presence of the youth and the turning cogs of the will of the Force. The young man's presence was alert, heightened, a little wary, but there was a strength there and a focus, the Miralukan had potential and Khe'taka couldn't help wonder if it was part of the boy's unique perception of the force.
Khe'taka then rumbled with a short chuckle.
"You can just call me Khe'taka, and whom might you be?"

Masters and Knights have spoken to him before. From all corners of the Galaxy. This, however, was the first time he'd ever seen one tower so high over him. It was awkward, at the very least, arching his neck up to look at eye level.
"My name is Xenas." He said, "Xenas Junshur. Youngling. My classmates and I recently arrived from Corellia."

Mei considered the developing situation as she silently snacked on the pastry Auric had brought her. She felt confused and could only imagine how bewildered Xenas was feeling right now as well. The young Healer had not seen the one called Khe'taka very much, other than on the Temple's records.
She drifted away from the group and sat down with her back against the warm stone of one of the large pillars at the entrance of the Temple and contemplated the flying traffic paths against the blue sky as she delicately licked her fingers and then brushed non-existent crumbs from her tunic.
