Rules: Standard GBA Equipment: Standard Equipment Location: The Petranaki Arena. Geonosis.
The Petranaki arena, also known as the Arena of Justice and commonly referred to as the Geonosian execution arena, was brought about by both a need for entertainment in the rigid Geonosian society, and an efficient way of disposing of otherwise resource-draining prisoners. The most popular attractions used deadly beasts in combat, resulting in the extinction of some of the more crowd pleasing creatures on Geonosis. Those looking to trade with Geonosis would often provide exotic predators for the arena entertainment as payment. Such creatures included acklays, nexus, reeks, and mongworsts.
The arena itself was a natural formation carved out by millennia of weathering, with additions made by the Geonosians. Its floor consisted of sand and silt upon which events took place. The lower walls of the arena base included ancient low-relief carvings depicting famous battles and events. The arena could also be flooded if needed so for aquatic events.
A large tunnel connected the arena to an underground Geonosian droid factory and was below the Geonosian High Audience Chamber. Droid storage chambers were also located nearby. Two smaller tunnels branched off from the larger one linked to the factories. These smaller tunnels exited into the arena at opposite sides of the arena...
Our duelists enter the arena from separate tunnels, stepping into the harsh sunlight to the clicks and stamps from the insectiod spectators.

Cassel walked out from the tunnel, the brim of his authentic replica Kulu hat protecting his eyes from the harsh sun of Geonosis. His eyes were wide, and his smile was wider. He wondered what had brought him here, but the thought slipped his mind when his ears, which had just woken up from the nap he had taken before wandering into the tunnel, caught the noise of the locals, cheering him on. He wondered what he was supposed to do, so he fumbled into one of his pouches and pulled out a flute. Holding the flute in his teeth for a moment, he cracked his knuckles, and then took hold of it once again, and put the mouthpiece to his lips and began playing. He figured they were here to see something, so he might as well entertain the audience while they waited for whatever was supposed to happened started, and he could go back to his nap. The crowd stopped cheering, and seemed bewildered, to say the least, and turned to each other, utterly confused.* *Cassel, believing that they had stopped being so loud so they could hear him properly, began playing a tune from his homeworld, which was quite popular there for its fast pace and high notes. Cassel went slightly red in the face as he tried to reach a D7, but nothing came out. He looked at his flute, feigning surprise at his inability to play the high note in the song. He blew several more times, and the crowd started booing. He held up both hands, trying to calm them, and then took a deep breath, and blew as hard as he could into the flute. As he blew, out from the end of the flute came a bouquet of Jade Roses. The crowd cheered at the trick, and Cassel bowed, and tossed the flowers to the ground, and tucked the flute back into a pouch. Believing his job as the opening act for the main event was over, Cassel walked over to the entrance to the tunnel he had come out of, but as he drew close a gate closed, blocking his exit. Seeing no lock, he tipped his Kulu hat and scratched his head, wondering what was going on.

The prey was trapped and the crowd knew it. As Cassel found his exit barred, the crowd burst into loud cheers and laughter. This was a blood thirsty crowd, and while they enjoyed parlor tricks, it was death that they had come to see.
Across from the arena, hidden in the shadows of one of the other portals to the arena, was a man who sat on the ground, allowing the force to ebb through him- lust, fear, rage and hate, these emotions were strong on the grounds where so many had died, and the man reveled in it. While in meditation, he was one with the environment, all but invisible to force users, however when the crowd roared, the man opened his eyes and broke meditation.
That was when Cassel could feel him. A dark presence, ancient and powerful, unlike many who now claimed to hold the title of sith. Nexus' force signature flooded the surrounding area with the chaos of the dark side, but it soon subsided, focusing around the man who now rose to his feet out of sight, though not out of mind.
There were a few anxiety filled moments in the arena before the dark figure left the shadows, stepping out into the sun and sand of the Petranaki Arena. He was a tall, intimidating sight, though not nearly as intimidating physically as his previous incarnation, to feel the mind of the man in black could fill a person with as much fear as a brute's physique, if not more.
He wore no shirt, which revealed a pale, well toned upper body lined with tattoos. The man wore a pair of black slacks, accompanied by strange black metal gauntlets and matching boots which held a malicious glow, hinting that they were more than simple durasteel armor pieces. The majority of his face was hidden by a pale mempo, which covered from his chin to the bridge of his nose, leaving only his eyes and hair as defining features. Carved from bone, the mempo did not bare any decorative marks, save for the occasional contours; it hid the expression of the dark lord. Cassel could, however, note the man's striking, ice blue eyes, and crow black hair which stretched below his shoulders without bounds, this was the face of a handsome man, yet the eyes were those of a predator. The man in front of Cassel was none other than the Dark Lord known as Nexus, however in the holos Nexus was a brute of a man, with the striking features of an Arkanian hybrid, where as here he was lean and resembled an average human male, save for the eyes, which still carried the fierce nature of the beast which wore this man's skin.
As the Dark Lord entered the arena, the crowd grew even louder, roaring and chanting at the top of their lungs; the appearance of the Dark Lord of Chaos was a harbinger to what they had come for- blood and death. As Nexus drew closer, Cassel could see his weapons- two lightsabers at his side, both hilts longer than normal, though one was long enough to suggest that it was a double-bladed weapon. Along with these hilts, Rutil could now see the handle and pommel of an ornate weapon on his back, if the man knew of Nexus, then he would recognize the weapon; Reaver, the ancient, massive sith sword that belonged to the brute.
Nexus unsheathed his weapon as he walked. He reached up, pulling the sword free of its binds which hung on his back, before pulling it over his shoulder and to his front. While the weapon was massive, Nexus handled it as though it weighed no more than a long sword. He let the tip touch the ground, drawing a line in the sand which trailed after him until he came to a stop, five meters from his opponent. When he stopped, he brought the blade forward, still allowing the tip to tough the ground. He looked at the young jedi, drinking in his features with those predatory eyes. After a moment of silence, Nexus spoke in a booming voice, which cut through his mask as though it was never there.
"I asked them to bring me a jedi, and all they brought me was a child..."
He fell silent, watching Cassel, waiting for his rebuttal.

Cassel smiled, completely unworried at the Sith standing in the arena with him. He just started walking up to him, as if they were friends. When Nexus took his sword in hand, Cassel stopped and put a hand to his chin, thinking. He then walked a bit closer, but the way that Nexus seemed to be glaring at him made him think it was not the best idea. Cassel put his hand back on his chin and thought some more. A little upset at being a child however, he crossed his arms and put on a pouting face.
"I'll have you know I stopped being a child almost ten years ago! Just because you're abnormally tall does not make me a child! I'll have you know that I'm pretty tall among my people back home! All I wanted was to take an uninterrupted nap and what do I get? I get taken to Geonosis, and thrown into a ring with a sword wielding Sith; which its a very nice sword by the way, my grandfather carried a sword like that around. His name was Alexander Lockpick. He was even taller than me, and he had a beard! A beard is a hard thing for my people to do but he did it! I even tried pulling it to make sure it was real, and it wasn't fake! Real whiskers on his face!"
Feeling he was getting a bit distracted, which was nothing new, Cassel dug through one of his pouches, and a few moments later pulled out a lightsaber hilt. With a flip of the power switch and a fwoosh, the indigo colored shoto blade shot out to its full length, and Cassel smiled, waving the lightsaber like a hand, waving at Nexus.
"This is the only thing I have, I think...I could check, if you want me to? I'm sure I have a letter opener or something somewhere in my pouches!"
While Cassel's mouth never seemed to stop, his mind was well at ease. He was focused, at least by his standards, and he began drawing on the Force, letting it breath through him, starting to ready himself for what he believed would be a not so friendly meeting with the fellow with the giant sword. Behind the mouth, especially the mouth, and beneath the topknot, Cassel was a very well trained Force User. He just liked talking more than fighting.
"If you're sure you want to use that little knife, go ahead. I'd suggest a real weapon, like wooden sword! I'm sure that's more your level!"
And then Cassel did what few in the Universe would ever think of doing, unless they were Cassel of course, which no one else was, unless he was cloned. He had always thought about the conspiracy of many other "hims" traveling around, in identical ships, with identical R2 droids. Anyways...Cassel stuck his tongue out at Nexus, and when he was done, all he could do was giggle mischievously.

Malevolent energy was nearly palpable in the arena, as the boy-child giggled and jabbered. Nexus decided not to wait for his opponent to talk him to death. Suddenly the dark side spiked, and Nexus' empty right hand lifted and summoned a weapon far deadlier than his sith sword- the force.
It came in the form of an invisible wave of surging telekinetic energy, which erupted from the Dark Lords hand, crossing over the gap between himself and Cassel just as the boy child ignited his lightsaber. Patience and tolerance were the traits of a jedi, and Nexus was no jedi.
As he released the Force Wave, he lowered his right hand, wrapping it around the long hilt of his sith sword, gripping it tightly, drinking in the weapons power. He looked back at Cassel, with a glimmer of something evil in his eye. The time for words was past.

Cassel flipped head over heels when the wave of Force energy came at him, and blew him backwards. His Kulu hat flew off his head, and floated on the air, until it drifted back to its owner, and landed next to Cassel, who was rubbing his head with his free hand. Cassel stood up and put his Kulu hat back on his head. A frown formed on Cassel's face before he took off. Using the Force to amplify his speed, he worked his way up in speed, going faster and faster until he closed the gap with Nexus and jumped, bringing his saber up, as if about to strike from the air, but instead held up his left hand, and pushed out with the Force, returning the favor that Nexus had given to Cas with the Force Wave.

The crowd burst into laughter and cheers, as the man-child flew and flipped across the arena. He hit the ground with a soft thud, which intensified the mocking. Nexus did not join in with them- but instead watched his opponent with those chilling eyes of his. The force ebbed and flowed through him, the arena was a massive nexus of emotion which he drew upon- it gave him strength.
The boy returned to his feet, frowning. Nexus lifted Reaver with one hand, holding it at level with his chest. As Cassel charged, Nexus braced himself. The boy began to blur as the force aided him with speed- fortunately he was far enough to give Nexus time to react. And so the sith lord did.
Allowing the force which he had been gathering since Cassel's fall to be free, he released the hilt of Reaver. Rather than falling to the red earth, the blade defied gravity and floated, before suddenly lancing straight at Cassel just as he reached the climax of his speed, prior to jumping.

Cassel, ever quick on thinking on his feet, or off them, or on his hands, or anywhere for that matter, went wide-eyed as the sword known as Reaver seemed to float, and fly towards him. Continuing his plan as he had planned it, Cassel jumped up, and moved sideways, kicking off the flat side of the large sword. The sudden change of momentum , however, threw him off his target of Nexus, and he instead landed way off to the Sith's left. Cassel made an annoyed face, deactivated his lightsaber, and wagged his finger at Nexus. H
"HEY! You should watch where you throw that thing! You could have hit me!"
Cassel smirked mischievously, and threw his arms up, letting out a wave of the Force, throwing up a thick layer of sand and dirt into the air, which clung to the air and was meant to obscure the vision of both the crowd and Nexus. Several penny sized stones flew out of nowhere, completely harmless, more annoying than anything, towards Nexus. Each one came from an entirely different direction. A giggle penetrated the sand and dust. From stage right Cassel's voice came out, speaking to Nexus.
"Why is it that the Sith are so mean all the time? Why don't you just have fun? Have you ever been to a circus!? On my world they're so funny....but I hate clowns. They're just creepy, you know?"
Cassel jumped into Nexus's view and lay his hand on the ground as he landed, sending Force energy through the ground and towards Nexus, to send him flying into the air.

The sith sword cleaved through not flesh, not blood, not bone, but air. And then it was kicked, and Reaver descended to the ground without the slightest hint of ceremony. The crowd booed at the sith lord, disappointed- he felt a tick of annoyance, but he did not let it show. The boy child said his words and showed his showmanship, as the arena was engulfed by a cloud of sand. Then the darkness came.
For most combatants, there would be a moment of confusion, however Nexus was not most combatants. During his exile, when hunted by the Warriors of the Iron Fist, he took refuge on the planet of Tattooine. He was no stranger to sand and stone, nor when they obscured vision. He had long since stopped relying on his eyes for sight. As the cloud of beige raised, the Dark Lord -acting purely upon instinct- closed his eyes allowing the force to see for him. They were in a sea of red, surrounded by a shifting wall of red- blood shed by combatants, as demanded by the surrounding crowd who now had blood on their hands.
Within the blood however, was another being, who shone a bright blue. Jedi- or at least a lightsider- a beacon of hope in this sea of death. Unfortunately for Cassel, however, beacons worked both ways. He was an easy target, as he commenced his speech, but Nexus didn't move, not yet. Instead, he allowed himself to blend with the area. It was not hard- in one life he was a gladiator, and the arena was as much a part of him as he was a part of it. Though not invisible, using the dark energies of this blood soaked stadium, Nexus made himself harder to detect. As he did this, he reached for the longest of hilts, which hung on his right hip- pulling it free, he did not ignite the weapon, but instead waited.
Then the beacon lunged, and Nexus lunged out to meet him. Kicking off the ground, the Dark Lord leaped in a trajectory that would bring him parallel with Cassel's left side. While he was far from a master of trakata, Nexus was versed in the basic tenets of the form, and implemented them in this move; Mere milliseconds before they crossed, the Dark Lord ignited his lightsaber, birthing a bright crimson beam which burned through the sand. He held the blade in a reversed stance in his left hand, blade held as a horizontal bar moving outwards from the weilder at mid-torso height. If Cassel didn't shift his course or ignite his own blade he would very likely be cut in two by a horizontal blow to his mid-torso.

Cassel, being the short fellow he was, went wide eyed like a Dewback in headlights, and ducked out of the way of the lightsaber. The momentum of his downward movement, however, made the end of his topknot go up, and the lightsaber belonging to Nexus cut off a couple inches of his famous hairdo. Cassel rolled on the ground and spun to face the Sith near him, activating his lightsaber and readying himself for any incoming attacks. He figured since the Sith had stopped him all of his attempts to attack him, he would let the man wear himself out a tiny bit.

Failure- the internal voices cried in discontent as his blade came so close, yet never made it's mark. Nexus landed on the ground, four meters from his opponent, kicking up a small cloud of dust as his feet met the harsh Geonosian sand. He turned to face the jedi, who had reignited is lightsaber and waited for an attack.
The crowd let out a unified cheer as the young adventurer that was Cassel landed, virtually unscathed. Nexus stood across from him. The voices in the Dark Lord's mind cheered and roared, filled with blood lust, as the jedi came to his knees. "Kill him", they said; "Crush him", they said; "Destroy him", they said. "Wait", said one voice, that beckoned the other voices into silence- the voice of a master of lightsaber combat, Darth Sanctus, speaking in his element with the authority that could silence the maelstrom of other voices and entities. "Never rush in", the voice said, "Never do what they expect- deceive them and attack them where they least expect it".
It was time to attack once more, but Nexus decided against charging his opponent- while he could seize the moment, his opponent would be far from surprised by that course of action. Instead he heeded the words of Darth Sanctus. He flourished his saber in a quick spin, before holding it in a Makashi-like stance.
Turning side-face once more, Nexus' left shoulder was aimed towards Cassel, with his lightsaber held at waist level, angled towards the sand. While the stance matched that of a form II user, Nexus did not intend to attack with the saber form; it was a form of trickery, using the stance to misguide Cassel into a sense of specific expectations.
Taking steady steps, Nexus approached the man-child, bracing himself for an attack with the force or the saber. Closer and closer he stepped, walking straight to Cassel, believing the boy would not budge, though he was not so ignorant as to be unprepared for an attack. Three meters, two meters, one meter and a half, all the while his blade poised and ready to ward off an enemy attack. As he came nearer he placed both hands on the elongated hilt of his weapon. Then he was within striking range of the boy. Unless Cassel had made the first move, Nexus would have.
(If met without resistance) Once Nexus was within striking range, he would move with fluid grace. Rather than going for a typical arcing swipe or stab, as was commonly associated with Makashi, Nexus abandoned the stance and drew back his right arm, bringing his blade from his waist angled downwards, to his right shoulder, angled straight and outward, poised to strike. This switch changed potential targets for Nexus' strike, a switch that required compensation in the opponent's defense.
Ferocity filled the dark lord, as he suddenly thrust the blade outward and slightly to the his left (Cassel's right)in a feinting stab aiming for Cassel's right shoulder. The blade moved no more than three inches before Nexus suddenly altered its trajectory, bringing it to Cassel's left side in short arc which would bring the blade from Cassel's right shoulder, over his head, and down onto his left shoulder in a violent diagonal cleave. The weapon moved in a red blur, striking with well practiced speed. If the blade met it's target it had the potential to rend Cassel in half, cleaving from his left shoulder to right hip.
The Dark Lord would not tire- nor would he relent. He would end the story of Cassel Lockpick, and the final words would be written in blood, supported by the roar of the crowd.

As Nexus went into some type of stance, Cassel wasn't really sure which, he kept his lightsaber up, slanted forty-five degrees. He was not necessarily the most well trained lightsaber combatant, but he did know how to move fast, and keep his eye on shiny things. He was very good at that. He stepped back several paces as Nexus moved towards him. But because of Cassel's short stature, Nexus still did gain considerable ground on him.* *Cassel prepared to defend against Nexus's attack, which he could feel coming, but was taken off guard with the sudden change in Nexu's style, causing Cassel to shift his guard. Jerking in response to the feint, Cassel brought his shoto blade up to catch Nexu's, blocking it. The power of the strike brought Cassel down to one knee. Cassel's arms shook as his arms began failing from the taller man's strength. Suddenly an invisible lightbulb that only Cassel was aware of appeared over his head, and an idea sparked in Cassel brain. Cassel lunged himself forward, shifting to his left (Nexus's right), going inside of Nexus's personal bubble, and attempting to tackle him.
(Should the tackle fail because of Cassel's weight/height ratio, and he somehow latches onto Nexus)
*As Cassel clung to the still standing Sith, he looked up at the enraged Sith's face, and gave an impish smile. Closing his eyes and drawing energy to himself, he began to squeeze Nexus, drawing the Force to help squeeze him, effectively giving him a Hug of Death. Oh, the humanity, or lack thereof consider Cassel wasn't human.

Their blades kissed again- the red one with fury. The indigo blade and it's wielder fell to one knee. Nexus could have held him there- but the Dark Lord pressed his advantage, not waiting long enough to give Cassel time to react, instead, allowing the force to fill him, he shifted at supernatural speeds.
With the force aiding his speed, Nexus stepped to the right, pulling himself out of range of the shorter blade that Cassel wielded. As he stepped, he pivoted on his right heel, spinning a full 360 degrees counter-clockwise. As he wheeled around, he held his blade outwards; to the crowd, all that could be seen was a blur of red. Completing the spin, the dark lord's saber moved from Cassel's face, away from him, before coming back around behind him, aiming to slice through Cassel's left side.

Well it has been well over 3 months since the last post in this duel and as such she shall be tucked away in the archives. Before that though I must render a judgment
Both of you did well, the back and forth between attacker and defender. Cassiels humor, Nexus way of thinking. The fancy blade work and the well thought out attacks.
At this point though there was a slight advantage to Nexus. It seemed like he was taking your shots and rolling with them fluidly. Not only that but he had you on the defense more than the other way around. As such Nexus congrats.
