WortanThough much of the city of Wortan was destroyed in the Mandalorian Wars, there still exists a populous in outlying borders and labyrinth-like underground passages. Mostly, these are inhabited by criminals, swoop gangs, and former veterans and mercenaries of the many wars that have ravaged Iridonia.

Wortan. A city in the Aro-voa Canyon, the northern section spanning across the Aro River. The southern area consisted of tall Ferroconcrete buildings in a few blocks surrounding the city center, which was located against the south wall of the canyon to take advantage of the shade it provided. The city continued into the canyon wall through a series of natural and artificial tunnels, many of which were connected to the exterior building by bridges. Despite its ruinous state, it still functioned as a haven for the Iridonian underworld, and the rougher crowd compared to the dignified nature of the capital city of Malidris.
During the Mandalorian Wars the city was taken by the Mandalorians and used as a command center. It was the site of several battles and was heavily damaged in the intense fighting. When the Republic military attempted to drive the Mandalorians from Iridonia, they encountered fierce resistance, as the Mandalorians retreated into the underground sections of the city. Many of the underground blocks were destroyed before the Republic retook the city.
At the time of the Jedi Civil War, Wortan still had less than a third of the population it had before the war. Many of the isolated underground sections had not yet been reconnected to the city, and much of the outlying and underground portions were inhabited mainly by criminals. Among the criminals were swoop gangs, many of which employed former Mandalorians.

A massive bulk freighter hovered over the Aro-voa canyon, carrying Angel's elite droid brigades: 2,000 droidekas; 1,000 IG-100 MagnaGuards; 1,000 B3 Ultra Battle Droids, 1,000 KRSMs. They flew ahead from space to the base to set up for arrival. They were to rendezvous with the rest of Angel's Sith Trooper army, totaling in 50,000 remaining, who were marching the city towards the military base stationed there in the city of Wortan, a regular corporate marching trek from there to Malidris and back to whittle out the strong ones from the weak. The unfit ones were left to die in the unforgiving terrain. The sound of their footsteps echoed throughout the recesses of the canyons.

Four massive bulk freighters dropped down from the skies. Angel's entire army deployed in regimental fashion, preparing for invasion and expansion. They had packed snow gear in anticipation for the icy frigidity and unrelenting cold of Ziost's snowy winds. They filed in to the mass transports, troops first, followed by vehicles.
Only the fifty thousand of the Iridonian warriors, all planetary defence forces, would remain in Wortan.

After almost a full planetary rotation, the troops had settled in the mass bulk freighter transports. The four massive ships stirred up quite a dust storm as they lifted off and accelerated slowly into the exosphere. Wortan became eerily quieter once the dust devils had settled.
The only troops that remained stationed on Iridonia were its planetary defence forces, and Angel's elite droid brigade, as well as his supreme vehicles and heavy vehicles, save for his shadow-branded AT-ATs. Thos went with the troopers in case they needed heavy firepower.

Nattan'ian didn't like this one. He didn't love his job at the best of times, but an informant and slicer made good credits. Betraying information didn't bother him so much: Industrial Espionage was something that all major corporations could afford: governments came and went, but the almighty credit ruled supreme. No, governments and corporations were all fair game. It was the lives of individuals that he lost sleep over. These individual sentients plagued his dreams, accused him, waited in judgement for the time he would meet them in the great beyond.
And this one, this... client. Nattan'ian would have been happy never to see him again. He loved his work. And his work was always a name. One more who would haunt his dreams. As he sat in 'The Archer,' a dive bar on the outskirts of the Banol region, he fingered the datachip in his pocket, the contents of which would spell hardship for another being, and sweated.
It was more than just a dislike he felt for this one. The man was unsettling, even a little feral. Nattan'ian supposed he wasn't the only being that didn't like dealing with Tir Kaarn.
The meeting time drew near. Kaarn was never late.

Tir Kaarn walked into the bar and spotted his informant immediately. The man hadn't yet learned the art of blending in. Clumsy. Moving effortlessly toward the table, Kaarn sat, and took in the human sitting opposite him. He didn't even need to taste his scent to know that the man feared him, and the Hunter smiled at this.
They sat in silence thirty seconds before Kaarn's gloved hand shot out. The human whimpered and recoiled slightly, but it was only a small data-transfer case he held out, proffered to the information dealer.
You have what I need, yes?
He hissed, his mouth a thin line betraying razor sharp teeth. The man nodded silently, and placed a datachip in the card reader, withdrawing his hand reflexively as Kaarn snapped the case shut. The assassin then placed the card reader back in an inner pocket, and withdrew a small envelope, which he placed on the table before the man.
Payment as discussed. And I was never here, Nattan'ian. See to it you remember that.
No further words were exchanged. Kaarn stood and exited the bar as quickly as he had arrived, leaving Nattan'ian to sweat in silence.

4.5 hours before First Order invasion. Wortan. Red Vortex HQ.
Icarus had accompanied the new recruits, equipment and other members of Red Vortex that were not involved with the Starport assignment back to Wortan. The ruined city was the perfect place for an organization such as Red Vortex to operate from. Despite it being a few hundred millenia since the Mandalorian Wars and the utter destruction of the majority of the city, not many had tried to rebuild it. Where Malidris was the shining beacon for Iridonia, Wortan was the scarred and dirty underbelly. Populated mostly by criminals and gangs, Wortan was ideal for Red Vortex. With the recruits busily setting up the returned equipment, Icarus would take them one by one into an interrogation room and begin grilling them for information. Perhaps one would talk. Perhaps not. Either way, Icarus was eager to bust up some faces. And for betraying his brother, he would happily do it, despite the consequences from Kaz later on. The spy, or spies would be rooted out before he got back from Malidris. Icarus could almost guarantee it.

2.5 hours before First Order invasion. Wortan. Red Vortex HQ
Clark Ward, codename: Hawk
After arriving in Wortan, Ward was ordered to guard duty outside the Red Vortex HQ. Ward wondered where the Corporal was hiding. Ward had assumed that it would be Skyes that would kept an eye on him to ensure the success of this undercover mission. Ward watch a lot of higher ranking Red Vortex member enter and leave the HQ, for some reason it was extremely busy.
1 hour before First Order invasion. Wortan. Old bombed out Hotel
Corporal Damian Sykes
Sykes was camped out in an old bombed out hotel that was at least three blocks away from the Red Vortex HQ. Since arriving and getting some surveillance gear setup Sykes had watched Clark Ward standing on guard duty at the main entrance of the Red Vortex HQ. It was the most exciting part of this mission, but hey at least no one was shooting at him, yet. Over an hour and a half had passed, since Ward had started his guard duty. Sykes watched as another member of the Red Vortex had relieved Clark of his duty. Most likely Ward was relieved so that he could go to the mess hall and grab some chew, before being put back on guard duty.

Wortan. Entertainment District.
Inquisitor Vallen strode through the slums of what passed as the Entertainment District in Wortan. His long white locks fell to his shoulders. His amber tainted eyes constantly scanning the alleyways and side streets. Hooded figures congregated among themselves, dealing in illicit activities, no doubt. Sorceress Elise walked silently beside him, lost in thought. Vallen paused mid stride and nodded towards a group of armed mercenaries ahead and grunted. Elise stopped walking and observed. After a few moments, she spoke.
"Heavily armed and armored. Sporting the colors of the Red Vortex movement. Definitely who we are looking for. Word is the Red Vortex movement has something big planned for Malidris. But with the usurper's invasion, they will have either halted their plans or escalated them. We should follow them. Quietly."
Vallen nodded in agreement and started walking again. Elise gripped her cloak tighter and followed him. Either the Red Vortex would be willing to accept the aid of the Sith Academy, or they wouldn't. But with the impending attack on Wortan that was undoubtedly going to happen sooner or later, Elise figured the Red Vortex would be more than willing to accept the aid of several Sith warriors and acolytes. The duo continued to follow the patrol through the decrepit and decaying streets.

Wortan. Red Vortex Headquarters.
Kaz's brother, Icarus, sat with his head in his hands, listening to his brother speak. Malidris was lost. The invading forces had broken them and taken over.
"I understand. We'll get the hangar prepped for your arrival. I have also stopped my progress on locating the spy...I don't think it's important at this point...I also think-"
A loud crashing noise interrupted his sentence. Blaster fire and panicked shouts followed. Icarus scowled and reached for his carbine.
"We've got company...I'll call you back..."
Icarus rose from his seat and strode down the hall, completely unaware of what waited for him around the corner...

Iridonia. Wortan. Red Vortex Headquarters.
Inquisitor Vallen's red blade sizzled as it made contact with the bare flesh of the enemy soldier. He grinned as he hacked off the trooper's arm. He then gathered the Force around him and extended his left hand. The telekinetic blast caught the wounded and shocked soldier and sent him flying back into the wall. Behind him, Sorceress Elise was busy electrocuting several soldiers.
"Vallen! This isn't working. They think we are part of the usurper's forces!"
Vallen gritted his teeth and rounded the corner, running headlong into a rather large Zabrak. They both stared at each other for a few moments. Regaining his composure, Vallen brought his blade to bear. The other Zabrak, having some experience in dealing with opponents armed with lightsabers, managed to swing his carbine around and catch his hand. The saber was knocked free. As the Zabrak prepared to follow through, Vallen reacted. His left hand shot out and closed around the Zabrak's throat. He curled his lip and sneered at the Zabrak.
"How you doin?"
Vallen snorted.
"Call of your men. We are here to work out a truce, not slaughter the entire base."
The Zabrak raised an eyebrow.
"You sure have a funny way of asking for help. Put me down and we'll talk..."
Eyeing the Zabrak in his grip warily, he reluctantly lowered him to the ground. The other Zabrak rubbed his throat then glanced up at Vallen.
"What did you have in mind?"
Vallen grinned as Elise joined him...

Wortan. Red Vortex Headquarters.
Icarus stood beside the imposing Inquisitor from the Sith Academy while the slender and attractive Sorceress explained the situation.
"...with your remaining forces evacuating from Malidris, we'll have the numbers to fortify Wortan. All shuttles that have managed to escape from the Academy will be inbound within the hour. By the sounds of it, it won't be much. But it's better than nothing."
Icarus nodded. He then pointed to the holomap of Wortan.
"If we station sentries here, here and here, we'll have a good early warning in place in case they decide to push to Wortan next. Once they are finished with the Academy, they'll most likely take time to regroup and fortify. That gives us a day, two at the most."
Vallen snorted in disgust. He gathered himself up to full height and drew both of his saber hilts, igniting the blades.
"I will take what we have and take back the Academy!"
Before Icarus could point out the flaw in that plan, Elise spoke up in frustration.
"And leave us defenseless? No. We either plan this out properly, or we call Wortan our new home. Rushing in headlong without a plan isn't something that is going to work. Clearly this Lord Savage and his forces are better prepared than expected. We need intel. Troop movements. Battle reports. Numbers. We've still got a chance to pull this off, however it won't do us any good to get killed or imprisoned by attacking before we are ready. Vallen, calm yourself and think. Right now it's a numbers game. They have more. But we have the advantage of moving in small groups. Something they don't have just yet. Once Kaz returns, we'll gather what we can and formulate a proper plan."
Vallen reluctantly extinguished his sabers and returned the hilts to his belt. Icarus nodded in agreement with Elise.
"Well, if you want a hit and run guerrilla war, you've come to the right place. You are talking to the second in command to a movement that has been doing this for months now..."
Elise nodded.
"Which is why we were sent here. The Headmaster knows all about the Red Vortex. Now, explain to me the details of the city..."
Icarus nodded and began to explain the finer details of the decaying city of Wortan...

Wortan - Iridonia
With the utter defeat of the Red Vortex and the escape of several key members, Iridonia fell under the Sith'ari's control almost seamlessly. Malidris fell with little resistance. The Sith Academy put up a formidable defense, but still fell shortly after it had been attacked. And Wortan? Wortan was a slaughter for the opposition. Not suspecting just how determined and devious Lord Savage could be, the Red Vortex and rebel Sith walked directly into a trap. With Wortan surrounded and being of little actual importance, Lord Savage pulled out all stops. Low orbital strikes, mass bombing runs, artillery support as well as armored units, Wortan experienced the full wrath of the newly reinstated Clan Savage. Falling within hours of being attacked, several high ranking members of the Red Vortex movement escaped, though only just. Despite this, however, the Sith'ari's control was complete. Iridonia was now his. Those that refused his rule were forced into Banol's Maze as a form of exile. All known entrances to the Maze were barricaded and guarded by droid units to ensure the exiled remained where they were suppose to. And so, a new age of prosperity would fall upon Iridonia and the devious machinations of Lord Savage would continue, as something even bigger was looming on the horizon...

Wortan, Iridonia
Thomas Boles and the ten soldiers from the Cerberus Battalion waited for the Sith'ari's arrival at a landing pad that Lord Znalost had commissioned for special guest that had requested a visit to his Laboratory. Thomas was nervous as he had never met the famed Sith'ari, dealing with Znalost and his 'soldiers' usually made him sick to the bottom of his stomach. That feeling of being sick was gone and replaced by his nervousness, he did hope that he would make a good first impression on the Sith'ari as he likes living however knowing his luck, Znalost would most likely bring him back as one of his 'soldiers' and that made him sick to his stomach again.

Wortan, Iridonia.
The trip from Malidris was uneventful and almost boring. But, as he approached the coordinates sent with the holo-message, he could see an armed welcoming committee. Setting the fighter down, the Zabrak hit the canopy release. With a hiss, the canopy retracted back, allowing the Sith'ari to climb out of the cockpit and hop down. The wind whipped at his cloak, however, he strode up to the man that looked to be in charge.
"I take it you will be escorting me to Lord Znalost's lab, correct?"

Wortan, Iridonia.
Yes Sir. Don't mind them,he said pointing to the 'soldiers'. They're only here in case the locals act up.
With that said, Thomas turned around and began to lead the SIth'ari to the entrance of Lord Znalost's Lab. The ten soldiers took up positions around the Sith'ari, to protect him from anyone and anything that may see an opportunity and attack. Shortly after they had began to walk they entered the Banol's Maze.

Wortan - Iridonia. Mirtis Company.
Led by 1st Lieutenant Alvin Speers, Mirtis Company was stationed in Wortan. While nothing more than a decayed city that was home to the lawless, there really was no interest in the city, aside from ensuring the criminals that resided here didn't step out of line. Due to this, the soldiers of Mirtis Company were tougher than most Sith Troopers. Despite that quality, they were effective and ensured that no criminal uprisings would go unnoticed here.

Mitris Company Still enforcing the Sith'ari's rule, even in the ruins of Wortan, Mitris Company continued to ensure all criminal elements were kept in check. Criminal activity still persisted, so long as it wasn't a direct threat to the Imperium or the Sith'ari, and Iridonia's underworld was allowed to continue unabated. The Sith Troopers stationed here weren't law enforcement. They didn't care what the criminals did, so long as they didn't step out of line.
