Shaewe ManorMaryse Shaewe was sitting on the floor of the meditation room, in a lotus position, letting the Force flow in and around her when Markus quietly entered the room and stood a few feet away from her. Opening her eyes, she smiled at him before motioning for him to sit beside her."Come sit, jeune. What's going on?"Giving a lopsided smile, he sat down beside her and crossed his legs into the same position she held hers in. Once situated, he grew more serious."The Cinnyon have a foothold in Grallia. We've heard rumors of them having an HQ there. We haven't found out any names yet, except for whispers of the Elementis brothers. No confirmations on that yet either though." Maryse, with a thoughtful look on her face, was silent for a few moments. So the Cinn Ion had managed to integrate themselves into Ralltiirs somewhat peaceful society."If the Elementis brothers are sneaking around the planet and the Cinn Ion are in Grallia, then it won't be long until they're here too....if they aren't already. We need to keep the young ones close - Darius, Dani and Echo, the Burana sisters. They're the most vulnerable to attacks from the purists.
Rina is close to Ice, Alisha, and Jena on Honoghr, and Lyssa is there too, so they'll be watched over and have help if needed."Pausing for a moment, she stretched her legs out in front of her before standing up and walking to the window that overlooked the estate grounds. Moving her head from side to side, she popped her neck before continuing."Anything new on Daedelus and his companion? Is he still trying to find out more about us? We should probably let the poor man off the hook and talk to him. After all he is family too - see what he knows, and/or remembers from his time amongst the Cinn Ion."Looking at her quizzically, Markus stood and joined her in front of the window as he listened to everything she said."You think that's a good idea, talking to him? He seems kind of broody, and not too stable." Giving a small chuckle, she folded her arms across her chest and looked at him rather amused at his choice of words."Markus, chéri....you're kind of broody and we still talk to you. And face it, none of us are really that stable. If we were, we wouldn't be trying to kill each other at every turn. We'd be joining together as a people/species should, instead of ranting and raving about the purity of bloodlines and whatnot."He looked at her, eyebrows raised, for a moment before laughing aloud."Touché. Ok, I'll play nice with Daedelus. He and the S'kytri woman have been living in a small apartment in town and eating most of their meals at Burana's Café, so he won't be too hard to find. And yes, between Damon, Zed, Seris, Brody, and I....we'll keep an eye on Darius, Dani, Echo, and the Burana sisters. I'll talk to the others and work out a plan, just in case the Cinnyon decide to try anything." Maryse smiled at him as she raised a hand and gently patted his cheek before walking over to pick up her comlink from the small table in the corner of the room."Thank you, Markus. I'll contact Rina and let her know what we suspect here. Be careful, mon fils.""Of course, always, Mother." He stepped forward and gave her a quick hug before turning on his heel and leaving the room. After returning his hug, she smiled softly and watched him go. Though he was still young by Cinndao standards, he'd grown up so much in the last few decades as did his identical twin brother, Damon. Maryse was proud of both of them and she knew their father, Mathias, would be proud too if he were alive to see them today. Though in all fairness Mathias' death had never been confirmed, but Maryse had long ago given up hope of him still being among the living.
Sighing, she ran a hand through her short hair before clicking the comlink and contacting Rina with an encrypted code, letting the other woman know what had been going on and what was being done about it. After sending the message, she walked out of the room and went in search of Dani and Echo....-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OOC info: Cinnyon/Cinnion = corrupted (as in made up), sometimes derogatory, form(s) of Cinn Ion (pure ones)

Alexis drove the landspeeder into Ettam, being sure to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that none of the other Cinn Ion followed her. She parked the landspeeder in a public carpark, before getting out and heading a couple blocks over on foot to Burana's Cafe. She entered the cafe and took a seat in her usual place, picking up the menu on the table and having a read through it. She usually ordered the same thing from the cafe, but she still sat down and looked at the menu every time as a force of habit, but mostly to signal to Maryse that she was here. There was much they needed to discuss, starting with the mistake she had just made and the experiment she had just witnessed. Today was just not going as well as she had hoped, but everyone had those days where nothing seemed to work, this was most certainly one of them

Burana's CaféMaryse walked calmly into Burana's Café, Mara Shaewe following close behind. Both were dressed casually enough with Maryse wearing a black hooded cloak over a white shirt, black pants and boots and Mara wearing a grey shirt, black pants and boots with a dark grey hooded cloak to complete the look. They walked farther into the café, Maryse catching sight of Alexis Zaerden sitting in the usual booth seat she liked. Nodding ever so slightly to Mara, in silent communication, she moved toward the booth while Mara slid into another booth seat a couple of tables away. Mara would keep watch and listen in while Maryse spoke to the pretty blond woman. She didn't fully trust Alexis simply because she thought the younger Cinndao had been undercover a little too long and could possibly be corrupted, or worse - killed, by the Cinn Ion. But as long as Maryse and Amarina still had faith in the woman then Mara would continue to play her own part in the grand scheme of things. Pushing the small rectangular rimmed sunglasses up to the top of her head, she took up a menu and looked it over without really reading it, all the while keeping alert of the other patrons entering and leaving the establishment.
Maryse slid into the seat on the opposite side of the table across from Alexis and pushed her hood back off of her head with a warm smile. She took off the sunglasses she wore and slid them into a pocket of her robe as she spoke."Alexis....I trust you are well, chérie?"

Alexis lowered her menu a little as she sensed the two Cinndao women enter the cafe and approach her, before she laid the menu flat on the table as Maryse joined her, sitting opposite her. She offered a slightly reassuring smile in response as Maryse asked how she was, which at the moment was not overly good. Although she had delivered some bad news to Maryse in the past, it never got any easier. She took a deep breath as she collected her thoughts and tried figuring out where to start =Alexis Faith Zaerden= I have felt better Maryse... A lot has happened, The Cinn Ion are growing bolder, especially since Brithomar managed to take control of Grallia a couple months back. He has an army assembled and ready to march at his command. But that is not the worst of it, Some of his men have been undergoing experiments to augment their natural abilities. The men are injected with some chemical which... "perfects" both their physical features as well as increase their senses and boosts their healing. If it becomes widespread, then we may have a little problem... She then leaned forward a little, crossing her arms on the table to support herself as she looked down at the table and sighed a little. She then leveled her gaze with Maryse's as she figured now was as good a time as ever to finish the report =Alexis Faith Zaerden= I also think Braenden intends to free his daughter, something I think he has been planning to do for some time, but I think he now has the final piece he needs to do it. I'm not sure how he did it, but he managed to get in contact with Zion and has gotten him to agree to break into the Cinn Ion base and grab Shayla. I'm not sure if this is Braenden really making an effort to free his daughter, or if it's some elaborate plan to draw Zion in...

Burana's CaféThe cheerful waitress had brought Maryse, and Mara, their usual drinks which was steaming mugs of freshly made caf. While efficient at her job, the waitress lacked the friendly familiarity that both women had with the Burana sisters, Talia and Karyne. Talia and Karyne now resided on Honoghr, at Rina's request, for their own safety from the Cinn Ion. Smiling briefly at the thought of Talia and Karyne, Maryse turned her attention back to Alexis and listened intently while she added some sugar to her caf and casually stirred it while Alexis spoke of the Cinn Ion she'd been infiltrating for the last decade.
Maryse sighed softly. She had heard about Brithomars take over of Grallia almost while it was happening. Markus and Damon had been present in the city, in disguise of course, when Brithomar gave his oh so heartfelt speech at the demise of Grallia's well loved Governor. The speech was also broadcasted on the planet wide holonet, which Maryse, along with everyone else on the planet, had also seen. Some were shocked at the news, some were skeptical, some didn't even care, and some were quite suspicious as they had the right to be. Maryse was one of those people. Somehow Brithomar had convinced Grallia's governing body to grant him full control over the vacant political office and the city in general - and Maryse found that to be very suspicious indeed. Who had Brithomar threatened, cajoled and/or outright fucked over to be allotted that much power in one of the major cities on the planet? This didn't bode well for the rest of the planet, whether the citizens realized it or not. Granted most didn't know about the Cinn Ion, or the Cinndao race in general for that matter, but that was neither here nor there. To have the Cinn Ion make such a public power play was almost unheard of. They liked to operate in the shadows like master puppeteers pulling the strings. What Brithomar did was virtually unheard of before for a Cinn Ion leader. Who was he trying to impress with this move? Did the other Cinn Ion leaders approve of this, or was he working alone?
Maryse clenched her jaw while meeting the younger womans gaze and let her finish speaking before saying anything. Alexis also spoke of Brithomar's army and how some of his men and women were undergoing experimental augmentations. While it was not unheard of for Cinndao to partake in such activities, most didn't do it for the simple fact that it wasn't really needed. The species was already long lived with excellent immunities, superb senses, and healed twice as fast as baseline humans and most near human species. There was really only one reason why Brithomars people would subject themselves to experimental procedures, aside from being forced to do so of course - he was trying to create a super soldier. This worried Maryse a little bit, but she didn't let it show on her face.
The news of Braendens plans to free his daughter from Brithomars dungeons, with Zion's help, piqued her curiosity. It could be a trap for Zion, but Maryse didn't think so. Braenden was protective of his family members, even those who had escaped the Cinn Ion's grasp on numerous occasions. Zion, in particular, had even managed to escape Claudius' insufferable bloodsport games but the price of winning had cost the young Cinndao nearly everything. Maryse had not been present for the games, but had seen the holorecordings of it that Rina, Lyssa, and Alanna acquired while they had been there gathering intel on the Cinn Ion.
It was a bloody and brutal battle for Zion, but he came out the victor. Maybe that was why Braenden needed Zions help - because he had manage to escape from the Cinn Ion so many times in the past. Whatever Braenden was planning, she truly hoped he knew what the hell he was doing. It wasn't everyday that a rather high ranking Cinn Ion decided it was time to take matters into his own hands and take on the rest of the organization for the freedom of one he held so dear. This would need to be looked into further, for the safety of Zion and Shayla - especially for Shayla's safety. Maryse wasn't sure if the girl knew how to fight and defend herself since she'd been held captive by Brithomar nearly all of her young life.
Mara, still sitting in her booth a couple of tables over, was hearing everything Alexis said. She cast a glance over at Maryse with a raised eyebrow. Maryse motioned her over with a small nod of her head. Standing up from her table, cup in hand, Mara casually asked the waitress if she could switch tables since her 'date' had to work through lunch and it didn't make much sense to sit at a bigger table all alone. The bubbly waitress smiled and nodded as Mara moved to the smaller booth table right next to where Maryse and Alexis sat. Sliding into the seat, she sat at a casual angle where she could still watch over the other occupants of the café while continuing to listen to Maryse and Alexis talk.
Maryse took a drink of her caf while she mulled over Alexis' words, before answering the young woman. "Brithomars grab at political power is a little surprising for a man of his....stature. The Cinn Ion usually don't like that kind of attention." She paused, thinking momentarily on the fact that they finally had confirmation that Brithomar was the leader of at least one of the main Cinn Ion factions. They had suspected it for some time now, but didn't have verification until he made his political aspirations known. With Alexis' information added to what had already been gathered, it was shaping up to be an interesting and informative meeting. Maryse sighed before continuing on. "This doesn't bode well for the people of Grallia, or Ralltiir in general. If any of them try to oppose him he'll just have them killed....or sent to Claudius' arena where they will be maimed and/or killed for that devious bastards own personal amusement. She didn't bother trying to hide her personal disgust for Claudius, or his so called 'games'. While most gladiatorial games, in this day and age, were purely for showing off one's fighting prowess without the combatants, themselves, getting killed - Claudius' games were just the opposite. His games were meant to maim, kill, and cause as much bloodshed as possible - so much so, that only one combatant was ever allowed to walk away breathing. The odds were always stacked against the combatants, too. Sometimes there was no winner because of such odds. Claudius, being the smart man that he was though, always seemed to make those kinds of outcomes look accidental. To the normal everyday person, the death of all the combatants involved did indeed seem like an unfortunate accident. To a Cinndao, who knew the truth behind the disguise, it wasn't. Most Cinndao, and Cinn Ion alike for that matter, knew that the games were cheap imitations of their more respected counterparts and knew that they were rigged. While the Cinndao despised the games though, most Cinn Ion used them as a way to eliminate their enemies with the guise of a "sporting event".
Maryse shook her head slightly at the thought of Claudius and the games before leveling her gaze on Alexis once more and speaking in a softer tone. "As for Braenden's plans....I don't think he'd purposely set Zion up. Granted I don't know Braenden that well, having only met him a few times over the years, but I think he may have asked Zion because Zion has escaped the Cinn Ion numerous times in the past and knows how to get around some of their defenses. One of those defenses being the Elementis brothers."Maryse stopped again, long enough to take a drink of her caf with a contemplative look on her face. Mara remained silent on the matter for the time being while she, too, drank her own cup of caf. The waitress stopped at the table with a pot of fresh caf in hand and refilled their cups before smiling happily and moving on to some customers on the other side of the café. Maryse returned the womans smile and watched her move to the other side of the room before meeting Alexis' gaze. She sensed something else was troubling the younger Cinndao woman but didn't pry. Instead, she began to speak anew."Now that some of Brithomars people are subjecting themselves to experimental augmentations, we'll need to be even more vigilant than we already are....especially if the side effects are negative. Does he even know what the short and long term side effects are?" She raised a questioning eyebrow and took another sip of caf while keeping her eyes aligned with Alexis' over the top of the mug.

Alexis watched Mara out of the corner of her eye as the other woman moved closer to her and Maryse, obviously no one else had followed her here yet which was good. She then returned her full attention to Maryse as she brought up some interesting points regarding most of the report. If Alexis was honest, Brithomar had been quite mute when it came to side effects regarding the super soldier program and it wasn't something she had wanted to investigate to early on. But if she knew Brithomar, he probably wouldn't risk something like this if the side effects were too hazardous. He was crazy, but not that crazy. She picked up her mug of hot choc and took a sip off it before lowering it a little from her face =Alexis Faith Zaerden= He wasn't exactly that forth coming with those sorts of details, but I don't imagine it will be anything to dangerous. Brithomar takes chances, so long as he has calculated the odds carefully, but I'll look into it. In the mean time, we should prepare for the worst, especially here most of all... Maryse was right about one thing regarding Brithomar's rise to power, it did not bode well for the people of Ralltiir, or anywhere to be honest. Brithomar had been planning to strike out against all the Cinndao bases and eradicate them for years now, something not possible till now =Alexis Faith Zaerden= ...My biggest worry isn't just for anyone in Grallia. With his army, he can now march on Ettam, and with the spaceport in Grallia he can move his forces off world to attack every Cinndao base in the Galaxy. The reason he made his political move, was for the exact reason we didn't expect them to make it. Brithomar is trying to catch us off guard in ways that the other Cinn Ion are aversive of, if he keeps it up, he'll catch us when our guard is down... And speaking of guards being down, it would most likely be when Brithomar's guard was down that Braenden would enact his plan. She didn't personally know Braenden that well either, but he had been placed in charge of the GSDF, so she expected nothing short of an elaborately planned and executed strategy. While it was indeed true Zion had escaped the Cinn Ion before, she was quite certain it had never been from a place designed like the Grallia Underground was. But if Maryse did not think it was too much of a worry, then she would have to trust her judgement =Alexis Faith Zaerden= ...I just hope you are right about Braenden not wanting to purposefully set Zion up, but that doesn't mean he wont accidentally do so. I just hope he keeps this under better wraps, if Brithomar learns of this plan, then who knows what he might try... As for the Elementis brothers, I haven't seen them or heard news of them in some time, which has me a little concerned. They usually lay low, but I have a bad feeling about it this time... She paused for a moment, almost deep in thought as she considered the consequences of telling Maryse everything that had happened with Shayla and how Brithomar had found out. The worse that would happen is Maryse would pull her out of the operation, which would then force Brithomar to act sooner. If she didn't tell Maryse, then she would be forced to deal with this by herself, but if Maryse then found out later, she might wonder if Alexis had lied to her about anything else. She took another quick sip of her hot chocolate, before lowering the cup again =Alexis Faith Zaerden= ...There is something else... Brithomar had me collect a gift from Braenden today, which is the reason I know of Braenden's plan to free his daughter... but that was not all, when I dropped off the gift to Shayla... She was distraught at the sacrifice her father was making to keep her alive... As I comforted her, she kissed me, before pulling away... Before I could think though... I kissed her back, before I came to my senses and left... She did her best to keep it together and stop herself from breaking down as she explained what had happened. It was by far one of the worst mistakes she had made during her whole time of infiltrating the Cinn Ion, but she needed to go on as she fought back the tears =Alexis Faith Zaerden= Brithomar managed to catch it on his surveillance system... He knows what happened, and I bet he will fully intend to use it against me... She had basically just about signed her own orders to be pulled out, why was she such an idiot. Almost a hundred years of infiltrating an enemy organization and she basically signs herself off over one mistake. Perhaps it wouldn't be that bad, but she had to be prepared for if it was

Burana's Café
Maryse silently took in everything the younger woman said, raising an eyebrow when Alexis revealed that she had kissed Shayla and that Brithomar had knowledge of it due to his surveillance system. This caused Mara to shake her head slightly from the other table while tisking under her breath. Maryse chewed on her lower lip while contemplating all that Alexis had told them. Leaning forward, she rested her elbows on the table as she began addressing one issue at a time.
"Brithomar has become reckless in his endeavors. He may very well bring the wrath of the more extreme Cinn Ion down on himself with his arrogance and open political maneuvering. We, however, can't depend on that one possibility alone. Our forces will be ready for him if he tries to make a play for Ettam. Cambrielle will have to be watched also. I figure he'll save it for it last since it's the Capitol, and the government won't give it up so easily. He'll want to make sure he has all the other cities under his control first before striking there."
She left out the teeny tiny detail of Cinndao forces already being in Ralltiirs major city hub. The less Alexis knew, the better for her, the Cinndao, and Cambrielle's own military forces. It's not that she didn't trust the young woman, it's that she knew if Brithomar even suspected Alexis knew anything about Cinndao forces being in the city that he'd use her little indiscretion with Shayla against her, or worse, torture the information out of her or the younger Morviael. No, Brithomar didn't need that bit of information just yet, and hopefully by the time he marched into Cambrielle, Alexis and Shayla would be free of his grasp.
Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Maryse, spoke again. "It's true that Braenden may indeed inadvertently set Zion up, but we'll do all we can to give them backup if Braenden will let us.
As for Brithomars experiments on his soldiers, only time will tell if there are any serious side effects. Some effects don't show up until much later, so that will need to be monitored too." Pausing momentarily, Maryse leaned back against the booth seat as the cheerful waitress came by to refill their caf mugs. When the cups were filled and the waitress left the table again, Maryse resumed her speech.
"The Elementis Brothers will resurface again....they always do.
Now, for your predicament....you need to be very careful, chérie. I won't lecture you on it, but please, please be careful - for your sake and for Shaylas. Brithomar is ruthless and will use anything he can against you, even if he does favor you. Braenden is a good example of how Brithomar treats his favored ones.
Maybe having you go back in there isn't such a good idea...."
Maryse gazed thoughtfully, and maybe a bit worriedly, at Alexis, fully expecting the younger woman to put up an argument about possibly being pulled from her undercover assignment.

Alexis wasn't so sure the Cinn Ion would reprimand Brithomar at this stage, given how many men the man had gathered planetside from other colonies. If anything, letting Brithomar's open tactics proceed would provide the Cinn Ion council a chance to use it as an example if he failed, or send in reinforcements if it was going well. But she also knew that was under the assumption the Cinn Ion had any sense of logic. As for Braenden, at least Maryse was going to keep an eye on it and provide help to Braenden if he would accept it, to make sure Zion got away with Shayla. As to the serum, she would find a way to find out any adverse effects it may have, one way or another. As Maryse came to Alexis' predicament, she could also instinctively guess what she was going to say. Just as Maryse finished voicing the thought, she was ready to protest =Alexis Faith Zaerden= I know it was a mistake, and I let my guard down for a moment... But If you pull me out now, then Shayla will suffer for it, and we'll lose our intel on the serum and the Cinn Ion movements... Until Brithomar is brought down, I must stay there... It would take years to get someone new in. I can't say i'm unhappy about it, but this is my chance to make a difference... She also held something of a private vendetta against Brithomar and the Elementis brothers, since it had been their men that had taken the lives of her parents when she was a teenager. She wanted to see their downfall come from one of their victims, even if she wasn't plunging the blade, she wanted to make sure the person who did was able to do so thanks to her intel

Burana's Café
Maryse gazed contemplatively at the younger woman while Alexis was pleading her case to be allowed to continue infiltrating Brithomars Cinn Ion group. Maryse knew the Alexis had a point. This was as close to Brithomar as they had ever gotten in the last fifty or so years. To pull her out now would mean they'd have to start from scratch again. On the other hand, leaving her in Brithomars grasp was exceedingly dangerous also. It was a catch 22, caught between a rock and a hard place, damned if they do and damned if they don't. Maryse didn't like situations like that. It caused too much strife. This wasn't a game of poker where one could bluff their way to a win. This "game" was far, far more dangerous and was the cold hard reality of the much bigger cat and mouse game they all played. People could, and most likely would, die....and Maryse had already seen enough death to last her a hundred more lifetimes. Sitting up a little straighter, she looked the young woman in the eyes and spoke with a low serious tone.
"As much as I hate to admit it....you are right, chérie. We can't pull you out of there right now or it would jeopardize everything we've worked for thus far. Just be careful. I can't stress that enough. No matter what feelings you may, or may not, have for Shayla Morviael....you cannot let Brithomar suspect, even for a second, that the feelings exist. He won't hesitate to make either of you suffer for it."
She glanced away momentarily, eyes casually scanning the café, while she gathered her thoughts. Meeting Alexis' eyes again, she continued. "I don't know if Braenden remembers me or not, but I think he and I need to have a face to face meeting. We can't let him and Zion do this alone if Shayla is to be freed....not to mention they'll need a safe haven after he makes his move against Brithomar."
Pausing to give Alexis time to think, Maryse took a drink of her caf while Mara remained silent at the next booth. She had her own thoughts on letting Alexis continue her infiltration, but kept them to herself for now. This was indeed a dangerous scenario they were all part of. Mara just hoped that Alexis realized the gravity of the entire situation, or else it could mean trouble for all of the Cinndao involved. The consequences would be far reaching if the delicate house of cards, they had spent years building up, collapsed down around them....

Alexis nodded gratefully to Maryse as the woman agreed to give her a second chance. She would indeed be more careful around both Brithomar and Shayla, since as Maryse had stated, if Brithomar catches wind, he will use it against her in worse ways then what he already has. She then took a sip of her drink, before meeting Maryse's gaze again, as the woman went on about meeting with Braenden face-to-face. Alexis wasn't so sure how well that would go, but she trusted Maryse knew what she was doing =Alexis Faith Zaerden= Should I inquire how you intend to set up this face to face meeting?

Burana's Café
Casting a side glance at Mara, Maryse silently sent a little reassuring nod to the other woman before facing Alexis again and chuckling at the younger womans question. Leaning back, Maryse folded her arms across her chest and answered. "Ahh, Alexis, mon cher....that is where you come in. I'll need you to bring a message to Braenden for me. Inform him that I wish to speak with him sometime in the next few days. The meeting time, and place, can be of his choosing. Just as long as it's not in Brithomars private quarters."
She added the last line with a slightly teasing spark in her eyes as she took a sip of caf and resumed speaking with a light grin. "I'm not sure a leader of the Cinn Ion would appreciate a meeting of his enemies right in the middle of his living room."

Alexis wasn't too sure about this plan, but she trusted Maryse to know what she was doing. Perhaps the pair had met once before that she didn't know about, which was the most likely situation considering Maryse and Braenden were amongst the more older ranks of the Cinn Dao. She smiled at Maryse's remarks =Alexis Faith Zaerden= I am doubtful Brithomar would particularly happy about that. I'll let Braenden know you wish to meet him, hopefully he can be trusted... Anyway, I best be heading back. See you next time... Alexis pulled out some credits and placed them on the table before getting up from her seat and heading out of the cafe and made the trek back a couple blocks to the public carpark where she picked up her landspeeder and made her way out of the city and back towards Grallia, whilst mulling over some of the things that had just happened

Burana's Café
Maryse, nodded her head with a smile when Alexis agreed to pass along her message to Braenden. "Thank you, chérie. And yes, I think it's time to bid you adieu, also. Stay safe, Alexis."
She sipped her mug of caf as she silently watched the younger woman leave the café. Mara turned toward Maryse, with a raised eyebrow, while she rested her arms across the back of the booth seat.
=Mara= "Are you sure it was a wise idea to send her back in there? It's getting too dangerous for her, and for us....especially if Brithomar decides he wants to use her or the Morviael girl against us."
Setting her mug down, Maryse rubbed a hand across her forehead. "I didn't want to send her back, Mara, chérie....but she's right. If we take her out of there now then we'll lose future valuable intel on Brithomar and his group."
=Mara= "If Brithomar suspects her then she may not have a future, Maryse." Mara pointed out softly. Maryse arched a delicate eyebrow at the younger woman while taking one last sip of caf then stood up and tossed some credits down on the table next to the ones Alexis had left.
Touché. We'll just have to make sure he doesn't suspect her then, won't we? Or at the very least, that he doesn't realize she's one of the people working against him. I'm pretty sure there's others wanting his head on a platter besides all of us."
Mara, though still a little worried that they had just sent Alexis back into the lions den, chuckled softly while she slid out of the booth and followed Maryse out of the café.

Shaewe Manor
A little while later, when Maryse and Mara had made their way back to the hidden Shaewe family estate, Maryse quickly set to work on sending Rina a holo-recording of the latest information that Alexis had provided, and the confirmation that Brithomar led at least one of the Cinn Ion groups.

Shaewe ManorMaryse stood, arms folded across her chest, above the large training room watching through the surrounding glass window while Markus, Damon, and Mara, along with other Cinndao, and even some human soldiers staged war games with each other down below. The new recruits were coming along as expected while the veterans helped them along and improved their own skills in the process. Maryse just hoped that the recruits would be able to handle a real battle when the time came, and the time was most definitely drawing nearer by the day. Most of the human soldiers were already in, or had been in, Ralltiirs own military forces and a good number of the Cinndao forces had seen more than their fair share of wars so there was hope for turning the tide of the Cinn Ion."They're looking better by the day, General. I see improvement in all of the newbies and exceptional skills in the veterans." Maryse was brought out of her silent contemplations by Captain Neal Rickerts voice as he came to stand beside her. Casting a sidelong glance at him, she made a small clicking noise with her tongue before facing him and speaking."Neal....how long have we known each other?""More years than I care to count, General." He stated with a small laugh returning her gaze."And yet you still call Amarina and I 'General' after all these years. Why is that?""Because you both have more than earned the right to be called that. If it weren't for you two, my family and would've been murdered by Garris all those years ago....and I would've died in the forests of Agamar long before that. So yes, you both have earned the right to be called General, in my eyes." He was matter-of-fact in his reply as faced the training arena again. Chuckling lightly, Maryse also returned her gaze to the staged combat below."The newbies are doing surprisingly well, if I do say so myself....but will they be ready for Brithomars enhanced soldiers, is the real question. We still don't even know what exactly those soldiers can do, and that's what worries me." Maryse shook her head as if to dislodge the worrisome thoughts from her mind and sighed softly before continuing. "In any event, Rina's sending more troops, so we'll have some back up in a few days. They left Honoghr the day after I contacted her with the information about Brithomar. Kalik, one of her most trusted men, is coming with them so it should prove to be eventful and insightful to say the least."Neal nodded his head in silent agreement to her comments and continued to watch the training session. He silently admitted to himself that he had worried about Brithomars enhanced soldiers too, but what good was sitting around worrying about it when they had no more information on the Cinn Ion troops than before? Worrying about it wouldn't solve anything, it would only lead to mistakes on the battlefield. He knew Maryse knew this also, which was why she had ordered these training sessions months ago. Neither of them wanted to go into this unprepared....

Braenden and Jessie made their way through the streets of Ettam, having arrived in the city a short while ago and having parked their speeder out of the way, before choosing to proceed to the meeting spot on foot, using the crowds to lose anyone that might have been following them from Grallia. It was risky enough for them to come to this meeting in the first place if it was just a trap, but far more riskier to be tailed here if it wasn't a trap, hence the precautions they took. It wasn't long, before they arrived to the Burana's Cafe, just as Alexis had told him to do, before the pair took a seat in the booth that Alexis had instructed them to sit in, before they browsed the menu as they waited for their company to arrive

Maryse and Mara had been sitting in the alley way across from Burana's Café, in their enclosed speeder, waiting patiently for Braenden Morviaels arrival. They didn't have to wait long as Maryse briefly spotted Braenden, and a companion, disappearing into Burana's. Narrowing her eyes the tiniest bit behind the dark lenses of the sunglasses she wore, Maryse looked over to Mara with a light nudge to the younger woman's shoulder."Look alive, chérie. We have company that needs to be seen to."She gave Mara a wink and slide out of the speeder while the younger woman just rolled her eyes in mock exasperation and followed suit with small grin. They made their way across the midday traffic of the street, keeping an ever vigilant eye out for any 'uninvited guests', and entered the café a few moments after Braenden and his companion. Mara glanced around the dinning area casually as they made their way toward the table where Braenden sat, taking note of the patrons within, most of them regulars that had several meals a week within the establishment.
Once at the table, Maryse paused moment before sitting down. "Braenden, Jessie....it's been a long time. You're both looking well, considering...." Smiling slightly, she slid into the booth seat across from Braenden and Jessie as Mara slide in beside her while Maryse introduced her to the others. "This is Mara Shaewe. Mara, this is Braenden Morviael and Jessie."Mara, meeting Braenden and Jessies gazes through the darkened lenses of her rectangular rimmed sunglasses, nodded politely with a smile.= Mara ="It's good to meet both of you." The waitress appeared by the table just then, effectively, though temporarily, cutting off the conversation, and quickly took their drink orders before vanishing off into the kitchen again. Maryse chuckled as the waitress walked away before looking back to Braenden and Jessie, a serious expression on her face."As you obviously already know, Alexis is one of our people. One of our best infiltrators. She's like a daughter to me, albeit a headstrong stubborn daughter, but still a daughter nonetheless. I didn't want to send her back to Brithomars lair after our last meeting, but I was left little choice in light of recent events."She paused momentarily as the waitress came back to the table with their drinks in hand. After setting the various liquids down on the tables surface in front of them, she turned and left again with the promise to check back in a little while to see if they needed anything else. Pursing her lips, Maryse added some sugar to her caf and stirred it before lifting the mug and taking a sip. Smiling at the taste, she set the beverage down again and continued."I'm going to be blunt with you, Braenden, because time is quickly running out for all of us involved. How much do you know of Brithomars enhanced soldiers? Their strengths and weaknesses? What are his plans for Ralltiir as a whole? And how do you plan on getting around his defenses to rescue Shayla?" She leaned back, pushing her sunglasses up on her head, and leveled her chocolate colored gaze at Braenden while patiently awaiting his answer....

Braenden had been keeping his own eye out for any unexpected guests that might have tailed him and Jessie, when he noticed Maryse and Mara enter the cafe, giving a quick scan in case they brought anyone with them, but the coast seemed clear for the most part as the two women sat opposite Braenden and Jessie. Braenden gave a nod to Maryse as she greeted them, noting that it had indeed been quite some time since he had met with her, not that she had changed much in all that time, she still looked the same now as she had when he had decided to join the Cinn Ion. He was quite certain that her sentence would have finished with "considering you betrayed us" or something to that extent, though, they both knew now was not really the time to be squabbling over such things. He then gave a nod as Maryse introduced Mara, with Jessie quickly following suit =Braenden Morviael= It's nice to meet you... Braenden gave a nod to the waitress as he ordered drinks for himself and Jessie, before returning his attention to Maryse, as the woman confirmed that Alexis was indeed working for her, and by extension, the group of Cinn Dao that Maryse belonged to. He could understand her reluctance to want to let Alexis go back in, especially considering the kind of risks she ran by just being a half-blood in the middle of a bunch of purists, without taking into account the fact she was also spying on various operations, and seemed to have feelings for Shayla. He also had no doubt that Maryse really didnt have much choice but to send her back in, due in large part to how close to execution a good number of Brithomar's plans were, and she was likely their best chance of learning them. He then gave a nod as the waitress returned and before taking a sip of his Corellian Whiskey, which was most certainly the official drink of the Morviael Family, as Maryse got to the point of why she had asked him here. Not only did she know of his plan to rescue Shayla, but it seemed that she knew at least of the existence of the super soldier program that Brithomar was running. Well, this was definitely turning out to be a slightly more interesting meeting then he had initially thought it would be, as he placed his glass back on the table =Braenden Morviael= You definitely don't mess around do you Maryse? time is indeed running out for all of us, especially with how fast Brithomar is moving. Fact of the matter is, he'll be ready to move on Cambrielle and Ettam in a matter of weeks, and it wont be some large war he wages, he's set for governorship of the world, and when he takes that seat... Well, let's just say you guys are gunna look like the terrorists then... As for his plans for Ralltiir as a whole? well, his gunna using it as a staging ground for his assault on the other Cinn Dao strongholds... Braenden paused to take another sip of his whiskey, using the brief moment to let his words sink in as to the gravity of the situation that was facing Maryse. For soo long, this war had been waged in the shadows, but Brithomar was quickly bringing it into the light of day, and at the rate the man was going, public opinion was going to be on his side if things proceeded as planned. Braenden then set his glass down again, ready to move on to Maryse's other questions =Braenden Morviael= As for his super soldiers, I can't say I know a whole lot about them... Brithomar has been keeping a lot of his projects compartmentalised, so much so, I only officially learned about their existence a few days ago. He doesn't trust me with a whole lot more than what he needs to... And no one I know really knows a whole lot either. Seems they've been using some syrum concocted from a plant they found off world, and essentially acts likes steroids for the entire body, turning subjects into walking tanks. Cant say I've heard of any weaknesses yet, but I have heard rumours of psychosis being a side effect of the drug, so anything that gets in their way is gunna probably get killed... Beserkers is probably a good term for what he has created... It was then, that Braenden came to the final thing that Maryse had asked him about, which was his plan for rescuing Shayla. Whilst it was true that he did have a plan, it was still far off from being achieved, taking into consideration some of the prerequisites that had to be met, and, whilst he had been quite open with Maryse so far, it was definitely not something he was going to be too forth coming about =Braenden Morviael= As for my plan to rescue Shayla... Well, let's just say it is still a little way off from being achieved. I've been planning an endgame move for years now, in fact, most of my decisions up until now have been towards one end, whether you can see it or not. Just know, that I have a plan, and that what ever it is, wont put Zion in harms way, since I imagine you already know about that part... I can only ask that you trust me, even if I have sided with the Cinn Ion, but I am certain that you are beginning to understand now, why I made that choice all those years ago, even if all the pieces aren't in their proper place yet...

Maryse lifted the mug of caf to her lips and listened, with great interest, to Braenden's explanation of Brithomars plan to eventually politically dominate Ralltiir so he could use it as a stronghold for his more grand plans of taking out Cinndao people and settlements around the galaxy. He had paused momentarily taking a drink of his whiskey before continuing - explaining that he in fact knew very little about the enhanced soldiers that Brithomar was creating and had only found out of their existence a few days prior to this meeting.
Arching an eyebrow, Maryse found it somewhat odd that Brithomars proverbial right hand man knew nothing of the experiments and/or other projects that his boss was engaging in. How was it that a halfling like Alexis knew more than one of Brithomars top men? Had Braenden fallen so much out of favor with the purist zealot that he trusted a halfling more than Braenden now? Maryse tucked those thoughts to the back of her mind and continued to listen as he skimmed around the subject of Shalya's rescue saying that he had been planning an endgame for years - promising that it wouldn't put Zion in harms way and asking her to trust him.
Placing the mug ever so delicately back on the table in front of her, Maryse met Braendens gaze. For a brief moment the skepticism was apparent in her eyes as she folded her arms on the the surface of the table. "While I appreciate your honesty, Braenden....I find it hard to believe that Alexis knows more about Brithomars dealings than you do. Why is it that a halfling is privy to more information than one of his top men? What happened to bring that about? Do you think he knows that there's something amiss and he's playing both of you to see which one makes a move first?"
Maryse studied Braenden for a moment before leaning back and casually waving a hand in the air as if to wave off the questions. "I believe that you wouldn't intentionally put Zion, or Alexis and Shayla for that matter, in harms way. The same can't be said for people like Brithomar, or Garris, though. Both of them will use any means necessary to reach their goals, even if it means sacrificing a few hundred, or thousand, of their own people and anyone else who gets in their way. It doesn't matter to them if it's Cinndao blood spilled or not. We cannot let that happen, chéri. One major city on any planet is bad enough....we cannot let Ralltiir, or any other planet, fall into their hands."
Mara, who had remained silent up until now and just listened to the ongoing conversation, leaned forward taking Braenden and Jessie into her gaze. "I can't even begin to know what you're going through, knowing that someone you love is being held against their will. I won't insult either of you by pretending I do. What I do know is that Maryse is correct in saying that we can't let Brithomar take the whole planet. So whatever you're planning, whatever pieces you need to get in place, get them in place....and do it soon or else we're all going to be up to our asses in blood and bodies!" Mara, not being one to mince her words, drove her point home by jamming her forefinger on the table to emphasize her words.
Maryse smiled affectionately at the younger woman and gently patted her on the shoulder before looking pointedly Braenden again. "She's right you know....and I, for one, do not care to have bodies strewn about. Especially the bodies of the innocent people of the planet." Maryse lifted the mug once more and took a long drink before setting it back down in front of her. Moving forward in her seat a bit, she spoke again. "What I propose is an alliance, Braenden. An exchange of information and resources to get this grand plan of Bithomars crushed before he has a chance to make his next big move - which if our informants are correct, will be Salibury since it sits right across from Grallia with Lake Grallia being the separation between them.
There's a few more cities and towns he'll hit before trying to make a play for Cambriele. Local informants there seem to think he'll save it for last since it's the capitol and it's local government will be a little harder to overthrow. There's also the power cell manufacturing plant there. He's already got his hands on a major spaceport and I'd rather he not get his hands on the power cell plant if it can be prevented."
Maryse held Braendens gaze a moment longer before looking up with a smile to the waitress that had came over to refresh their drinks. As soon as the young woman was gone Maryse glanced at Braenden again, giving him time to contemplate her proposal while she added a couple of spoonfuls of sugar to her caf....

Whilst the look of skepticism was brief, Braenden could hear it thick in her voice as she spoke, her thought pattern quite clear from her line of questioning, with it quite clear to him that she had not quite considered other alternative situations. He chuckled as she finished her first line of questions, figuring he'd be kind enough to offer up some explanation and theories of his own =Braenden Morviael= Aside from the fact that Alexis spends ninty percent of her time under his supervision, you fail to realize just how far over the edge Brithomar really is... I'm about as close to Brithomar as anyone can get to a zealot that blames you for the actions of your descendants... Especially considering I wrote half the book on his military tactics playbook... But the one thing we both need to consider, is what Brithomar thinks is amiss with Alexis? Brithomar might be a little insane, but he is still a rational leader, and might be using the super soldiers to draw you out... And if that had been Brithomar's plan, then it meant that involving Alexis in his plans to free Shayla could be far more dangerous than he first anticipated. He was glad that Maryse was willing to place some trust in him to not put Zion, Alexis, or Shayla in danger by accident, or at the very least, more danger than what they were at risk of on a normal basis. True enough, Brithomar and Garris were willing to work for their goals, but at the very least, Brithomar was a far more reasonable a man in comparison to Garris, especially since Garris was hell bent on the death of all half-breeds, whereas Brithomar was content with their servitude. The Cinn Ion power structure was complicated, to say the least, with more semblance to a bunch of groups that held the same beliefs, but had entirely different end goals and approaches to them. It was then that Mara chimed in, urging him to expedite his plans as much as possible, lest more blood was spilled and the bodies started to pile higher than they already had. As it stood, Braenden's hands were stained with more than their fair share of innocent blood considering that he'd been behind a number of military victories for Brithomar, hell, he'd lost count of the number of Cinndao that had lost their lives in this war. He let out a soft sigh as Maryse further echoed Mara's sentiments, before his mood shifted a little as she proposed an alliance between them to try and stop Brithomar's grand plan. He had finished his whiskey, and so traded his empty glass for a new one, before thanking the waitress as she left. As he took a sip of his drink, he weighed up the proposal that Maryse had made, quite impressed that they had already learned of Brithomar's next target =Braenden Morviael= I wont sugar coat anything for either of you, and whilst we should be thankful that we are dealing with Brithomar, and not Garris, one thing you should not do, is underestimate Brithomar's ambition. Salibury is his next target, true enough, but it is not a big move by any means, no, it is but a small part in a much grander plan... It wont be troops he uses to take the city, but words of a political alliance to convince the governor of Salibury to join his party. Once that's done, he'll need only convince the leadership of Demilla City or Ettam to join him, and subsequently, their allied towns and cities, and he'll have majority control of the Ralltiiri High Council, meaning that Cambrielle will quickly join Brithomar's side and leave which ever cities and towns that are left no choice but to support Brithomar's rise to power... Braenden was nothing, if not fair, and since Maryse had been willing to trust him with some of what they knew, he was willing to lay out some of what he knew of Brithomar's plans, especially since Maryse and Mara would need to comprehend just what sort of cunning that Brithomar was capabale of, and just how far ahead these moves had been planned. Obviously, he would need their help down the line once he toppled Brithomar's regime, and so he couldn't afford to alienate them, but at the same time, he needed to know just how far they were willing to go. He took a sip of his whiskey to give the two women a chance to mull over what he had just laid out, before placing the glass down again and meeting Mara and Maryse's gaze in turn =Braenden Morviael= That all said, I am willing to form an alliance with you, in fact, if Ralltiir is to have a hope of stabalizing when all is said and done, then I will need your help to do it. However, what you need to realize, is that you might not be able to prevent Ralltiir's fall to Brithomar, and that for the greater good, you will need to let it happen. Lives will be lost, that is an unavoidable fact, but how many more are lost and how many are safely secreted away to fight another day, is another matter entirely. As it stands, many lives have already been forfeit in hopes of seeing the fall of the Cinn Ion, some of them going gladly to their deaths knowing that heroes would rise to avenge their sacrifices. Idealism will win a fight, but to win this war, you'll need to be willing to make sacrifices. So, how far are you willing to go? Because if it's not all the way, I will gladly give you the location of Brithomar's base, in fact, I'll give you a holo diagram of the place, but you'll quickly realize that you cant bomb the place from orbit, unless you want to level half of Grallia, and a ground assault would get you to the outer doors where you'd come against reinforced durasteel doors and laser turrets that would mow your forces down... You could even try and prevent Brithomar's rise to political control, provided you had someone as charismatic as Brithomar and moved quickly enough, but the last political opponent Brithomar faced, ended up conveniently dying... but far be it from me to try disuade you if you should chooce those courses of action... To some, Braenden's talk of noble sacrifices and heroes rising to meet seemingly insurmountable foes might seem like the plot of some aged fantasy novel that was read to little children before bed, but such a comparison could not be further from the truth. He'd had a hand in certain situations, true enough, but someone had needed to be the bad guy, to ensure that people like Zion rose up and were willing rally the Cinndao against people like Brithomar and Garris. When all was said and done, he would answer for what he had done, that was an inescapable fact, but until then, he had a war to win
