Five years ago today. Or sixty months to the day, if you prefer. That was the day that Akuma Sin'Kaji died and Lapay no Ken was born. Should we light up some candles, eat some cake?
He had come in search of the beacon of darkness on the station and had been seduced by Ryu's complicated words of power and compelling speech into abandoning his first goal of killing all of the dark siders there. He had been convinced that he was weaker, that he should learn under Ryu's wing and attempt to kill him at a later date, true to the Sith traditions. What a joke of a time that had been.
In the first month, Seleevan Khar came to Ison. The ensuing fight between him, Ryu, Solus, and Ken resulted in evacuation of the station to space. At that time, Ryu had left The Darkness on the station and a comlink beside Ken's unconscious body when he abandoned his apprentice in the darkness of the broken-down station. Thus ended the apprenticeship. But out of spite, Ken kept the name. The name Lapay could be made strong, but not by Ryu. Everyone left the station except for Ken himself.
In the fourth month, a team of Jedi led by Arn Hart came to explore the station. Ken retreated into the uncharted areas of the station and remained undetected.
In the eighth month, the Solomon Empire came to Ison. But its presence did not persist.
In the fifteenth month, he discovered the core of Ison Station. It was surrounded by a cloud of darkness which is the manifestation of the dark nexus there. Ken was unable to pierce the veil.
In the sixteenth month, he used Telekinesis to pull an orbiting piece of junk from the debris field into the path of an arriving ship, destroying it with no survivors. Actually, one survivor made it to the station. But Ken slew him without trouble. A half-asleep man starved of oxygen on his knees in the hangar bay, overcome with relief, puts up no resistance.
In the twenty-third month, he contemplated to learn Form III: Soresu, in order to supplement his Shien in terms of defensive prowess. But he was unsuccessful at mastering it without a proper holocron from which to learn.
In the forty-second month, Ken succeeded in breaking through the shell of darkness and entering the station core which had belonged to Quaestor Verus. He was changed. It was after this that he gave his lightsaber the name, "Akuma", after himself as he was before. It was also after this that the idea to leave the station first entered his mind.
In the fifty-seventh month, he made repairs on The Darkness, which had remained essentially untouched during his time here. The repairs took him one month.
In the fifty-ninth month, he proceeded one last time into the center of Ison station. There he found the gauntlet for his left hand and discovered its hidden power, and took it for himself, giving it the name "Aiken".
This is where we come to the contemporary time. Ken, in the cockpit of The Darkness, preparing to depart from the hanger. His purpose is simple: to bring his former master to shame by achievements that he himself shall make in his own right. He is strong, he is independent. In fact, he thinks to himself, being liberated from the shackles of his master is the best thing to have happened.
"Isn't that right? I am already free because of this. If I were still with Ryu, I wouldn't be free. So...the goal of all Sith...is already in my grasp."
The YT-1930's engines warm up as he prepares to leave these sixty months a distant memory. Or five years, if you prefer.

They had to alter their plans. The crater had proven a good spot, but a weakness in the EM field high above allowed far too much space radiation in. Instead, they chose a cliff face situated in a series of winding canyons. Excavator droids dug tunnels, and the fusion-formers made smooth and hardened roadways right behind the digging machines. A good number of these tunnels were closed off and used as habitation areas for the Partisan force. Meanwhile, the massive Civil construction droid ate away at the cliff face, slowly turning the innards of the cliffside into a respectable base. It was slow going; magnetic containment field generators had to be spaced just so, and large life support units filled the vast spaces with livable temperatures and breathable air. Among the areas under construction were hangar bays, barracks, defensive and fortified positions, and much, much more. In the interim, the ships that they did have were hooked together using cofferdams to augment the livable space - with organic crews working round the clock to get the makeshift base up and operational.

Haven, a small mountain community in the middle of nowhere on a planet rarely visited in a system shrouded in a veil of gaseous nebula wisps from a bleeding star. Self sufficient, more out of necessity than desire, the town was a quaint and peaceful place occupied largely by a human population that had not been visited since the days of the Galactic Civil War. Seemingly forgotten by the rest of the galaxy, it was here in this most isolated place that Darth Astera of the Sith Eternal set her sinister sights.A midnight blue Arquitens-class command cruiser dominated the sky, descending through a thick layer of clouds that swallowed light and bathed the charming settlement in grey. Every rooftop of the rustic village was covered in a foot of white snow, its cobblestone streets lit by oil lamps and its homes by candlelight. The people here were kind, looking out for one another, fearful of what they didn't know. So it was no wonder that they barred their doors and slammed their window shutters closed as a lambda shuttle emerged from the hangar of the Frost Queen hovering in the sky, descending towards the open square at the centre of this quiet mountain town. The reflective doonium hull of the shuttle refracted the orange lamp light and kicked up a curtain of billowing snow as its repulsors lowered it to the ground, landing struts extending from its underside and scrapping the interlocking brick, lowering a boarding ramp to the ground with a mechanical whine even as the engines began to power down. A beautiful frigid goddess in a shimmering blue fur lined dress strode down the ramp, accompanied by two crimson armoured NJ1 Sith Troopers carrying ST-W48 blaster carbines in their gamma-plast gauntlets.Everything about the SE Director of Advanced Technologies appearance was calculated, from the way she wore her long luscious white hair braided to the amount of cleavage she bared despite the cold weather around her. She exuded a disarming aura that concealed her true dark nature as a Sith Lord, her cold gaze softened as she cast her sparkling blue eyes on the town. Slowly, as the locals peaked through cracks in their windows and risked a glance at the newcomer, the sound of scraping wood echoed as doors were unbarred and windows unlatched. She had them already, even without speaking a word, though that didn't last long. She smiled with false warmth, beckoning them close with a friendly wave."There is no cause for alarm, good villagers." She lied in a melodic voice. "We come in peace, bearing gifts from nearby Roon." Striding down the ramp was a seemingly less beneficent being, as Darth Astera's daughter appeared in her black carapace Sith Knight armour, her raven hued locks swaying in the winter wind, lips barely held back from a snarl. She took after her father, sadly, who for now shall remain unnamed. There were rumours of course, with perhaps some hints of truth as to how the Director received her position on the SE Council of Seven, none of which had been officially confirmed. Despite her daughter's dark demeanor, the towns people in thrall to the Lady of Winter soon found themselves drawn closer as Astera's daughter opened a chest she held in two black gloved hands, revealing a wealth of runestones and flame jewels fished from the sea of Roon. The deceitful Ice Queen welcome the villagers forward and offered each of them a gift and an encouraging word, quickly winning them over with charm and deception befitting a Lady of the Sith.

Location: Ison Corridor | Ison (Ison System) | Village of Haven Just outside the isolated idyllic little town of Haven high in the mountains on the desolate world of Ison, a planet shrouded in a nebulous veil from a bleeding white star, massive Sith groundborers burrowed into the frozen earth as they tunneled deep beneath the icy crust. Stone and minerals were ground up into a slurry like pulp, while sophisticated mechanics and a small army of droid laborers extracted the most useful elements, harvesting an untapped wealth of resources hidden beneath the snow covered peaks. In her guise as the benevolent Winter Queen, Darth Astera eased the worry of the townspeople, who were unused to industry of any sort taking place so close to their quaint and peaceful village. The villagers kept their distance from her daughter, however, whose dark attire and menacing eyes seemed to deter the common folk from even so much as glancing in her direction. She took after he mother in this way, as the Director of Advanced Technology was a most cold soul, despite all outward appearance due to her current disguise. An underground network was carved and hollowed out, large enough to install a lab and workshop, which was summarily lowered and loaded into the space in a number of shuttle trips to and from the Frost Queen still hovering in the sky over the mountain town. Viper probes had been launched from the Arquitens-class command cruiser, shooting out in all directions to form a data network of useful information, ranging from weather reports to interesting geological formations.Astera herself had taken residence in a cozy cottage on the edge of town, linked to her secret base by a password coded turbolift concealed within the log lined structure. The gifts continued to come, dispelling any concern the locals might have had as avarice and lusty greed swayed their hearts in the Director's favour. Most of them were just as happy not to know what she was up to. After all, who would seek a home for themselves in the middle of a nowhere settlement on the borders of civilized space? Suspicious, but not foolish, they knew ignorance was bliss. Beneath the ground, alloys and raw ore were collected and processed into useable materials, while a great blast-forge was assembled using supplies sent to the Lady of the Sith's lunar workshop on Roon. She had to piece together this last portion by herself, as the arcane mechanisms went beyond simple science and technology, delving deep into the realm of sorcery and ancient lore. She marveled at the blackstone, each polished brick carefully quarried in the darkside tainted region of the forest of Pzob known as the Deep Woods, extracting from the cursed ground by the labour of the blood eyed night ewoks that dwelt there. The strange substance seemed to be psychically attuned, able to capture Force energy like a crystal, or the ebon stones the Rakata created millennia ago. Perhaps it was the same. She had no way of verifying so without a sample of each to study.Already she could feel the pull from the dark heart of the forge, leaching life energy from its surroundings and fatiguing even her considerable reserves of strength. Astera looked up at the ceiling, her thoughts dwelling on the villagers going about their business above. In time they would feel the effect as well, as their spiritual essence was slowly drained over a period of years, stealing their years and greying their flesh. It would consume them, bit by bit, leaving only hollow shadows in the place where life once prospered, transforming them all into ghouls and wraiths. But that wasn't her concern. She'd only been asked to establish this outpost, not worry about its future. Smiling wickedly to herself, Darth Astera set the last stone in place and stood, awakening the forge with a discharge of Force Lightning from her gloved right hand. Ghostly blue flames erupted from the centre of the pit, burning brightly and blistering hot. As she stared into the flames, she swore she could see the faces of the townspeople, slivers of their souls now trapped in the hellish fires of the forge.

Bight flashes blossomed in the winter clouds as something massive drifted through the sky, descending through a white curtain of nebulous wisps as it passed from the cold void into the atmosphere, causing blue electrical forks to crackle against a forming hull during its passage towards the surface. It took the shape of a large obsidian pyramid, four thousand meters across, slowly drifting towards the same mountains where the isolated village of Haven was located. Snow birds cawed and squawked in the sky as the Freedon-class Star Pyramid hovered on giant repulsor engines that road a deafening curtain of air, requiring immense levels of power generation to keep something so large afloat inside a planet's gravity. It held position next to a jagged cliff-face of ice and rock, largely inaccessibly at its high altitude overlooking mountain valleys below. Armour plated hangar doors near the base of the floating obelisk retracted to reveal the dimly lit inside, exposing hideous rodent shapes as tinker rats and warlock enginseers of Clan Rustrot positioned a industrial mining laser into position. A goggled hench-rat sat in the pilot seat of the laser, manipulating a joystick in its gnarled paw to take aim at the exposed cliff-face. When the device was aligned, the rodent pulled the trigger and a massive green beam of emerald fire erupted from the spinning drill and burrowed deep into the side of the mountain, melting through ice and flash evaporating water to vapour that escaped the forming tunnel from the mouth of the hole in curtains of steam. Rock super-heated and boiled to liquid, before that too was vaporized and a near-seamless path was burrowed deep into the heart of Mount Dragerest.Inside the Maw, the pyramid shaped battlecruiser of the Famine Lord that served also a mobile city for his wicked mutant menagerie, gangs of storm-vermin lashes brutish towering ranat-ogres who lumbered towards the hangar carrying massive quarried blocks of Pzobian blackstone. Under the supervision of Warlord Skeer Grimspine, the verminous forces of Clan Skrittlespike began to assemble a landing pad and bulwark spire at the mouth of the still steaming cavern, working diligently to assemble a fortified sally-port with a Sith iron portcullis. While the Children of Decay built a sinister structure into the side of the mountain, side hangars in the dread vessel peeled apart to release wide winged Arkanian dragons from the bowels of the warship, ridden by ghoulish rat-wraiths in barbed iron and shadowy black cloaks that flapped in the wind. Half in this world and half in the next, the bite of the artic cold didn't seem to trouble the spectral vermin. As they took to the air, the dark scaled repto-avians drew nervous looks from the locals in the nearby village of Haven, who had never seen such terrifying creatures in their peaceful skies before. The rats worked fast, quickly constructing a the front entrance of the new snowy headquarters of the Famine Lord, known as...Dragengard Fort Snowok of the Dark Apothecary (aka Wampa Base, SE Blacksite) Occupant: Professor Dragglestein, Chief Researcher for Project Ice Wyrm Scores of horn headed abominable snowoks crossed from the Maw into the base, leading packs of chained Wampa ice beasts that snarled as barbed collars around their necks attached to Sith iron chains were pulled upon, roaring when they were jabbed by long electro-poles held by the chimeric bears like spears. Dragon Slug eggs held in cryogenic storage were carefully transferred to hatcheries carved into the mountain, all of which was overseen by the Chief Researcher who would be leading Project Ice Wyrm, the renowned and feared homunculus of the Great Devourer himself. Professor Dragglestein emerged from the hangar lift, stalking across the deck on talon tipped toes, a long white lab coat billowing around his white scaled form. Like the Pater Mutatis' whose DNA the artificial being was derived from, the Professor was a barabel clone, though unlike the Hungering One his scales had turned a ghostly white completely void of colour. Another difference was that the usual barabel blood red of the homonculai's saurian eyes were an icy blue. Other then those few differences, the cool crocodilian was the spitting image of the Blood Wyrm."Be careful with thossse eggz!" Hissed the white scaled barabel, snapping an overlong tail on the deck that ended in a surgical syringe full of strange alchemical fluid. "Can't have them hatching too early now."A network of warrens spiraled out of the main chamber, either laser carved or bored by the same diamond tooth groundborers the Director of Advanced Technology had brought with her, connecting Fort Snowok to the forge chambers Darth Astera had already installed beneath the streets of Haven. Snowoks penned up icetrompers and packs of pantran whitefangs not far from their own encampments. Closely related, the snowoks housed the wampas that weren't on duty in their own burrows, living harmoniously with the predators. Professor Dragglestein's lab was at the core of it all, an odd collection of strange medieval machines, arcane relics, and scientific glassware. Beakers bubbled away from analysis were performed by bleary eyed albindo furred rodents staring at console screens. Once the last of the supplies were transferred over to the SE blacksite, the massive star pyramid pulled away from Mt. Dragerest and began to ascend up into the sky, eventually vanishing back into the obscuring veil of the nebula that made travel throughout the region so treacherous.

A frozen rime cracked off the rear hatch of a crimson hulled amphibious interstellar assault transport parked on an icy mountain slope overlooking the snow covered region of Dragengard, exposing the heated interior of the gunship to the frigid elements, causing a veil of steam to pour out from the opening that obscured the disembarking of two dissimilar figures. One was a verminous underling, barely a meter in height with slicked back greasy fur over scabrous pink flesh, a rodent shaped body draped in filthy tattered rags that barely covered its extremities. Gnarled paws wringed together for warmth, while a wiry whip like tail flicked back and forth behind it as it hurry-scurried after the second figure, never taking its beady red eyes off its fearsome companion. The second figure was larger, more serpentine in form, a creature of black scale and claws more akin to meat hooks. It wore a cloak of thick wooly wampa hide that staved off the bitter cold, while an overlong tail protruding from its armour thick backside cracked against the ice, awakening the ultra-sonic vibration generator housed in a serrated spike capping its end. Super-heating with friction, the wickedly orange glowing blade warmed the mismatched eyed bipedal drake as it hovered near its scaly head, behind a skull that ended in a ferocious snout that split to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth. White fangs glistened as scalding salivation mixed with blood seeped from between those sinister daggers, forming icicles on the barabel's chin as it trudged threw the snow, side by side with its ranat hench-vermin.
Dragus, Dark Apothecary of the Sith Eternal and Famine Lord of the Eye, stalked the ice crusted cliff side towards an opening in the mountain. Squeakers moved to match pace with his master, always just beyond the reach of the saurian Sith's lethal tail, which refracted the pale light of the moon off its poison covered surface. Held in the Hungering One's right claw was his trusted saber-cane, the Gorgon's Eye, a length of charcoal stained Pzobian oak that ended in a ruby red meltmassif orb. The sphere blazed a brilliant red that illuminated the way into the dark embrace of the cave, though in truth the Blood Wyrm relied more on his impressive sense of smell, the nostril slits on either side of his snout flaring as he probed the depths ahead. A secondary source of illumination was cast by an amethyst gem set in the dreaded draconian's left eye socket, attached to an infernal arcane device of raktan origin, hard-wired directly into the wizard lizard's devious brain. It blazed with an intense light, the strange mechanics responding to the unseen world, detecting an unusual flow in the aether around them. Wielding his hatred like a surgeon's scalpel, the Pater Mutatis extended his supernatural senses beyond his immediate vicinity, casting his minds eye into the deep well of the darkside to seek and unravel the mystery set before him. The two dwelt deeper into the earthen abyss, always moving further down where light died and the air grew stale.
Minutes into their journey and the sound of the bitter wind sweeping across the mountains outside was all but gone, replaced by an eyrie quiet that caused the mad alchemist's most reliable rodent assistant to shake with fear. As for He-Who-Hungers, he felt quit at home in the bleak absence of sensation, deprived physically as he was spiritually. He led his underling further and further into the heart of Mt. Dragerest, finally emerging in a large hollow chamber that dropped precariously into a chasm, the bottom of which even his ocular enhancement couldn't see. Flexing his claws, the heinous hakusar stepped over the edge, catching the ice wall with his curved talons into the obsidian tips bit deep into the frozen surface. He slid down the side, descending several hundred feet until finally his toe talons struck the bottom. Cracking his knuckles in a series of sinuous pops, he shook the ice chips caught under his claws free and resumed his search, following a bloody strand invisible to the naked eye. Like a Force blood hound attuned to the malevolent fey, the villainous velociraptor tracked a single skein of fate to its source, his curiosity peeked by what he might find an the end of line. His only company other than Squeakers were ice bats and snow mynocks, though they kept clear of the cruel crocodilian, knowing an apex predator when they saw one.
His journey ended when he reached an ice wall, the ruinous red strand disappearing into the transparent sheet of frozen moisture. He raised his right brow, perplexed by this result, wondering just how he should proceed. With a talon he tapped the wall, listening for an echo as he tested its density. It was thick, far too thick to smash or carve through. Taking a step back, he raised his left claw and focused his rage into raw energy, resulting in blue forks of electricity leaping between his talons. Those crackling bolts scalded his scaly palm as he channeled more power into his limb, then released it as a bolt of lightning, erupting from his claw to slam into the frozen sheet barring his path. The wall exploded outwards in icy shards that pelted his rock hard scales like hail, while the resulting steam expanded around him in a quickly receding cloud that vanished moments after it first appeared. The discharge of anger manifested as lightning had cleared some of the frozen wall, exposing something locked away in the ice. Dragus held the Gorgon's Eye closer, its luminous head shining through the dense layer to outline the gargantuan limb of a giant. His rodent underling saw the same thing he did, squeaking beside him in rapid paced rat-speech. Dragus shook his head, not deeming to even glance at Squeakers as he replied.
"I don't know what it iz." He raised a claw to his snout and scraped the bottom of his chin with a crooked talon until scales flaked away and blood glistened on its tip. "Sssome manner of beassst, masssive in ssscale. Quite posssibly larger even than Umaroth, though it iz difficult to sssay from thiz vantage point." The Eye had led him here for a reason, he was certain of it. This creature might be the answer to his current dilemma. Placing a scaled palm against the ice, he extended his ethereal senses into the frozen limb, following the creature's extremity towards its centre. Quieting his mind, he listened for any trace of life, shutting out the world around him until only he and the beast seemed to exist. After a moment he was rewarded with what he felt certain was a pulse. The creature lived, though was in some form of deep hibernation or stasis due to its entrapment in the ice. This had gone from a simple extraction of genetic material to a full on excavation of the site. "It seemz we have our work cut out for uz, Squeakerz. Contact Fort Sssnowok and dissspatch an acquisitionz team to the sssite. We're going to unearth thiz...thing."
Twisting upwards from the corners of his snout, the black scaled barabel's lips ascended into a sinister sneer, stretching impossibly beyond the borders of his villainous visage. The Eye provides, and worlds will shake.

Rock and ice were churned up, mulched, and spat out by numerous groundborers digging their way through the earth as the excavation team got to work extracting the creature he Dark Apothecary found frozen in ice deep in the heart of Mt. Dragerest. Tinker rats in snow suits laboured with laser drills and vibro-picks, cutting away at the slab of ice the beast was contained in. As more of the mountain was hollowed out and lights were installed to illuminate the frozen thing they had found, the Famine Lord got a better picture of what he was dealing with. On a recently raised durasteel scaffolding, the dread lizard consulted the pages of the Ewokinomicon as he sought answers as to what he was dealing with. He turned his snout as he heard the shuffle of leather boots on the metal grating as a slender female form approached him from the left side. His mismatched gaze beheld the Winter Queen, Darth Astera, Director of Advanced Technology for the Sith Eternal. The blue eyed human with hair as white as snow was wrapped in an ermine cloak that looked quite warm, though in truth he knew the cold had never bothered a frigid dame such as her. She stopped shy of the reach of his blade capped tail, fixing her fellow council member with a curious look."Well, just what exactly is it you think you've discovered here, Dragus?" She crossed her arms over her bosom as she turned her gaze from the reptile to the creature encased in ice. Her own senses were telling her as much as the Dark Apothecary's, that whatever was inside, was somehow still alive."It'z a Gorog." Hissed the drake lord with a venomous smile, exposing fangs that gleamed beneath the recently erected ceiling lumens. "Or at leassst, that'z what I sssuspect it to be. Truth be told there iz only one known cassse of sssuch a beassst, and it iz not clear exactly how it had come into being." He stroked his scaly chin with a claw. "But thiz creature almossst identically matchez the dessscription of that one particular cassse."Astera's brow furrowed as her focus narrowed on the frozen monstrosity. "It is very large." She stated the obvious. "Yez." "Dragus, how exactly do you intended to control such a beast? Hmmm? Last I recall you were unable to manage that Sith Wyrm you reproduced on your island retreat. This..." She pointed at the creature. "...is even larger. If it were to get loose, the damage it could cause would be astronomical.""Pffft." He snorted with contempt. "You worry too much. Sssuch thingz have not essscaped my notice. I will ply my trade of courssse, and craft sssomething to shackle the gorog to my will. An amulet perhapz, a talisssman wrought in the old wayz containing a sssliver of myssself, a control device produced by alchemy. The beast'z primitive brain will be no match againssst the binding propertiez of Pzobian sssorcery."Astera stepped closer. "I could perhaps fashion a set of restraints hard wired to the creature's nervous system..." "Bah!" Snarled the saurian Sith, turning to face the lithe council woman, his fangs bared and his sour breath hot enough to expel a wisps of steam. "Your technology will not be required here. Thiz callz for sssomething far more reliable. Thiz creature may be the result of alchemy, thuz alchemy will be the meanz to enssslave it.""Fine, Wyrm, but don't come crawling to me when you lose control of the creature and it starts terrorizing the countryside. I've spoken my piece. Do as you will."

Coming to hover over Mt. Dragerest, massive spools of Sith iron chain were unwound, lowering giant hooks of the same material four hundred feet from the bottom of the Maw. Lumbering ranat-ogres turned large cranks, controlling the descent of the links until the hooks reached the surface, where growling magcors received them and manipulated their mechanical magnet arms to attach the hook tips to the ice block containing the gorog. With groundborers and excavation teams working around the clock, the artic entombed creature had been exposed to the grey sky still frozen but now removed from its earthly prison. Once the hooks were securely attached, cultists lashed the scabrous flesh of the verminous ogres, signalling them to begin raising the Shagrat up into the belly of the dreadnought. Banks of repulsor engines struggled as the considerable weight of the beast strained the Maw's inertial dampeners. As the ice block cleared the mountain, rumbling ion engines blazed cobalt blue in their cones, fighting gravity. Eventually the gorog was brought inside the lower bay under the artificial gravity of the star pyramid, easing the burden on the repulsors, allowing the Maw to even out.
Cyanogen gas was pumped into the bay as a precaution, while the temperature inside was kept far below freezing to help maintain the gorog's current stasis. So far the move did not appear to disturb the creature's hibernation. With Shagrat collected, the Maw lifted back into orbit, venting radioactive particulate and chemical fumes as it exited the atmosphere.
