A Squad of Brothers- Principal Authors: squadron99
- Who can post on this thread: Only principal authors and the Whills
- I want to receive critical responses: Y
- I will be using standard Universe rules here (e.g., canon-only, fleet limits, etc.): Y
Location: TheedTimeframe: 3 years before the original trilogyHow the Squad got togetherThe battle was everywhere. In the streets, in the bar, but it was focused all around the Palace. It was in an uproar of Imperial troops charging the front door and the Palace guards. Only four distinct soldiers wore clone trooper armor. A Sniper, a Leader, a Medic and a Heavy Hitter. This how they were classified when they swore their lives to protect the family that had reigned over the Naboo people for some time. She never knew their names, and did not want to. She knew they would always protect her, They never knew each other, they were always separated, taking different positions of guard duty, their stations for defending the city and her queen and they always kept their silence. Today would be different. Today they would feel a brutal blow. The Sniper sat atop his perch picking off one stormtrooper after another. He didn't care of their rank, how hard they would be to take out or even how they lived their life. He never questioned anything. He just pulled the trigger and brought back the pin. The Heavy Hitter, a man who loved the adrenaline of combat and rushed in with his minigun, not caring how many were in his way.

The Medic, a new recruit that studied medical history and retired from the 501st before the execution of Order 66. He helped civilians, Jedi and troops alike. He never wanted to know who he was healing as long as he knew he could make them better. The Leader, he did not care for his objectives, he did not care for his target, he did not care who gave him his orders. All he knew was to lead his men and women to victory. To take them up on that ladder of glory and to never back down when the mission became suicidal. He would always be determined and strong in front of his troops. All four of these men and their 'careless' ways would change. They would come to care, they would feel, they would understand, and they would work with the one person they could only trust but themselves. This change would happen in one blow. A blow the Empire knew would secure them Theed. They brought out Darth Vader's elite troops. They decimated the guards, stormed the Palace and abandoned the 4 unique heroes in the spaceport that had engaged lockdown. They all tried to get out. Knives, vents, strength and brains. None of these worked. The Leader went to the command console and sighed. The Sniper looked at him and laughed. "What are you sad about 'Leader'? You still got 3 healthy troops here." The Leader glared at him and the smile on the Sniper's face vanished.
-Sniper- "What's your name big guy?"
The Heavy Hitter stood up and punched the wall, breaking off a piece that flew passed the Sniper.
-Rick- "The name is Rick. I was a Heavy from the 403rd."
-Thomas- "27th Battalion. Recommended Sniper for the 501st. Thomas"
The Medic looked down at his knife in his hands.
-Max- "Max. 501st's first medic."
They all looked at the Leader with the want of knowing who he was. He couldn't have been Rex, or Cody.... or any of the others for that matter. He had to be either a fake clone or a clone who knew what war really meant.
-John- "Johnathan Azkarn. Leader of Commanding officer of the famed Squadron 99"
-Thomas- "You're pulling our legs. There is no way you are Commander Azkarn. His whole squad died during the battle on Geonosis."
John then pulled off his helmet, revealing his black hair with a fresh military buzzcut, a 99 tattooed on his neck and a black mark around the rest of his neck.

*The three men stared at John in complete shock. They couldn't believe he had been living under the Republic's noses for so long.*
=Rick= "Holy sithspit! You're really him!"
=Max= "He made it too obvious when he was taking lead of the guards. He led them as he did his old squad. To never surrender. I guess that still stands."
=Thomas= "Well if it does, I suppose you need a squad to lead Commander?"
*John only chuckled as he put his helmet back on. He had waited for one of them to say something along those lines. He pressed a green button on the command console and the lock-down was over. He had overridden the system and got the place up and running. He looked out the window that opened and 4 old X-wings sat in one of the docking bays.*
=John= "If you're willing to follow, I will gladly lead us. We already know who we must find."
=Max= "I hope you know, we will never find her. She'll probably join the Rebellion and be lost to us forever."
=Rick= "Can't be hard to find that rodian."
=Thomas= "At least we know his name."
=John= "Gregkast Johck."
*John slowly walked to the three and put his hand out in a fist.*
=John= "Join me... not as a squad under my command. But as my brothers who will follow their older sister into every battle we can."
=Thomas= "You got my vote."
=Max= "I guess you need someone to get your butts back up."
=Rick= "Kriff yes! Let's give our enemies hell."
*The three others did the same and they all touched fists.*
=John= "May we bicker and bond like true brothers. Whether we be clone or not."
And after they left the planet of Naboo, the brothers were formed. Squadron 99 was reformed with the pledge of four men who would follow each other to the brink of death. Brothers to the end.
