=Aylee'saresh=Ay'lee nodded in agreement, frowning as she chewed on the puzzle, and her lekku twitched in agitation. She knew there had to be a way out of the situation, or at least a way to undercut Crom'nen's authority and marginalize his influence. It amazed her that he had escaped such a blatant act of treason, and as a Twi'lek, it embarrassed her for her entire race. But she couldn't let the actions of one Senator undermine her duty to Koronov, the Corellian system, the Republic, and the galaxy as a whole. Shrugging in resignation, the blue-skinned woman stood up, bowed slightly to Louie and to Aylee, and departed the Naboo Senatorial pod.Walking quickly out to the concourse around the Senate Rotunda, Koronov's first secretary mingled with the other representatives and staff as they hurried from one place to another. For the time being, she had no other errands to conduct, and her footsteps carried her, more by habit that conscious decision, toward her 'home' in the Corellian offices.

Cass sits in a cafe in the Rotunda, watching people rush and rush around him. Fools the lot of them. Just running around looking for someone to use, or they are being used by someone themselves, hell sometimes even both. This was why Cass had left the academy. All he was to those people was someone to use. They got promotions off his plans and ideas, and what did Cadet Cass Raklin get out of the deal? Nothing, not even extra dessert at chow time. Maybe they were better than the monks, at least they never kept secrets. The monks had trained him to be a weapon, powerful and near unstoppable. But they never trusted him with his own secrets. Now he sits watching the powerful pass by in a hurry. Not many noticed him. It is amazing, he could get through security by acting the part, but once inside could disappear. He had to leave his weapons at the security check, but he could still feel them, they were fine. So he sat and watched until the Rodian waiter realised Cass wasn't interested in ordering anything and kicked him out. It was nice to just forget about not having a credit to his name for a while.

The day had started like any other day for Senator Koronov, but almost immediately upon his arrival to his office, he discovered that it was not going to end like most other days. He turned on his computer terminal to find that his holomail inbox was over capacity, and moments later, his secretary pulled herself away from the hypercom just long enough to give Dmitri an explanation. An influential holonet news broadcaster in the Corellian system, who had a reputation for stirring up non-existent political scandals, had given a scathing report on the Ryloth scandal, with the direct implication that Koronov himself had allowed it to happen. The rabble-rouser had twisted the timeline of the meetings between Koronov and Crom'nen, and had cited much false information about the topic of the meetings. Nothing could have been further from the truth, but a certain partisan segment of the population on Corellia didn't care and didn't verify the facts. From there, you can well imagine the consequences for Corellia's senatorial delegation, both at their offices in Coronet, and here on Coruscant.
In the aftermath of that, about an hour after noon, and with two strongly worded denials circulating in the local press back home, Dmitri stepped away from his office to find a quiet spot to eat a late lunch and relieve some stress. Opting to stay within the Senate complex, he made his way to one of the many cafes along the Grand Concourse outside the Convocation Chamber. The Rodian waiter showed Dmitri to a seat at a private table, and he nodded politely to the red-eyed man dressed in a dark combat suit who was seated at the next table. But the Senator's attention was not on his surroundings; rather, it was lightyears away, thinking long and hard about his home planet and the intricacies of public opinion. He ordered from memory in an automatic tone, without even opening the menu, and the waiter departed, leaving the Senator alone.
A few minuted passed, and then a mountain of a man wandered slowly toward the Corellian Senator's table, until he was immediately behind Dmitri. Then, the enorous man tripped and fell, grabbing the Senator's chair to catch his fall. As he regained his footing, his hand slid from the chairback to press a hard object against the Senator's kidney. It would look to anyone except the most careful observe as if the man were simply leaning against the chair while catching his breath.
=Man= "Don't move." He whispered in the Senator's ear. "I don't want to hurt you, I just want to you answer a question. Why hasn't Cromna Fenn been expelled from the Senate?"
Dmitri's eyes flashed in surprise as his focus returned to the present in alarm. His mind raced, but he fought to remain composure. "This is unnecessary, sir. I would have happy answered your questions without threats." He felt the sharp object jab closer to his flesh, and took a deep breath. "Senator Crom'nen acted unwisely, but he carefully avoided any blatantly illegal activity. Therefore, the Senate has no basis to press charges against the lawfully elected representative of a sovereign planet. It is up to the Clan Council of Ryloth and the Senator himself to determine his future, and it is not my place to intervene." How had this man gotten a weapon into the Senate buildings, anyway? Or perhaps it was not a weapon at all? He couldn't actually see the object. But he was not about to take any chances, either.
=Man= "Enough lies." He hissed, his voice and anger rising, provoked by the Senator's composure. He was determined to break that composure, and force the Senator to say something compromising. "You are shielding him because your own actions led to this crisis." With a roar, the assailant scooped up the Senator's chair, and flipped it and the Senator out into the aisle. The chair landed with a crunch, and shattered into five or six pieces.

In as instant Cass was up and moving. His hand shooting out to use the force to slow the Senator's fall. He turned to face them large man. Cass had a glimmer of amusement in his red eyes. You chose the wrong day friend. There was a time he would have tried to talk this situation through, but that time was passed. Cass had been left a cynical shell of his former self. The man flexes, on his arm Cass notices a tattoo. So this guy was former Republic special forces. In the other hand was some sort of weapon that Cass couldn't make out. At least this might be a little fun. So how do you want to be hurt today? My hand? My foot? Something more subtle?Cass gently uses the Force to put pressure on the man's windpipe making him gasp.Or if you want to wait a moment for my things to get passed security, something a little... warmer? Your choice? Cass was already reaching out with the Force to his weapons in a security locker. They were splintering the wood locker they were being held by. It wouldn't be long before they were free.

Koronov fell to the floor surprisingly lightly, and rolled into a sitting position, his right hand coming up to defend his face, while his left grabbed one of the broken chair legs. He did not yet realize that the stranger had used the Force to break his fall, but he was grateful for the intervention, and he watched both men closely. If the red-eyed stranger could just hold his attacker's attention long enough, he might be able to knock the weapon away. Dmitri still could not tell what the metallic object was, due to the sheer size of the hand in which it was held, but he was beginning to doubt it was lethal. This was all a scare tactic.
=Man= "This doesn't concern you, boy." The thug (for that's about all he was, hired muscle) growled as he gasped for breath. "I... stop it... before I... " With another gasp, he abandoned the struggle to speak, and instead, swung his massive left fist straight at Cass's face with all his strength.
Dmitri watched the man's struggles, his eyebrows narrowing. Why was the stranger struggling to speak? And what had his unexpected ally mean about clearing security? Tensing, he raised the chairleg an inch or two at a time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
At the door of the cafe, there were shouts, and raised voices, and two Republic guardsmen in their blue armor burst into the dining room, but their progress was greatly impeded by the crowd of frightened lunch customers attempting to evacuate, and another crowd of onlookers who were standing in a circle around the combatants, gaping at the spectacle.

Without moving is feet Cass dodged the attack. He used the man's momentum to send him falling to the ground. Cass then moved between the man and the downed Senator. He could sense the senator was going to try to get involved with the fight. An untrained person could make things get ugly. Gently but firmly Cass used the force to push him farther away. Cass's weapons pack finally splinter's the weapons locker. Cass only calls his Cyan curved hilt saber out of it. It begins the journey to the fight. I was having a nice day, you messed that up by causing a ruckus. Attacking someone in a public place? Not the best of ideas. Cass needed to know what the weapon was he was facing and soon. Once all the variables were known then he could now how best to handle the situation. You will need to use more than your fists and raw force to get by me.

The guard's try to close in, but the crowd is too tight. Cass it urging them to keep it tight, so it is just the former Special forces guy and him. Cass trys to get a better look at the weapon in his hand but can't. Now with this crowd and guards, escape is no longer an option. Cass walks circles, eyes locked on the man, but taking not of everything behind him as well. All eyes are locked on Cass and the man. no one notices a curved silver rod tuck it's self neatly in a planter to the Senator's left. You sir are left with but two options. Fight then get arrested or just get arrested. I am sure the Senator you have accused of corruption and threatened another senator over cant reach you in jail, can he? It isn't like someone that you believe to be so highly corrupt could makes things get lost on there way to booking. If such a thing were possible, a public fight, one that ends on the news would serve to keep you safe, people would want to know what happens to you...

Koronov's first attempt to get up was foiled by some unseen force, and as he slid across the floor before regaining control and jumping to his feet, he began to understand the capabilities of his unexpected rescuer. The man did not dress like a Jedi, nor did he exactly talk like one. His words were aggressive and threatening. But he clearly had the Force in some measure, and he had just used to for the right reasons, to interfere in a minor crisis. For that, Dmitri was both curious and grateful.
=Man= The burly man sprawled on the floor snarled at Cass as he sat up and looked around the room. Koronov's attacker said nothing, only glaring at Cass and the encircling crowd, who were now being shouldered aside by a half-dozen Senate guardsmen. With a sigh, he flung a bent silver spoon at Cass's feet, and raised his hands above his head as he rolled his eyes. "Very impressive. Who are you, the Senator's bodyguard? I am sure the people he represents will be happy to know about your threats." The man grinned dramatically. "Go on, hit me. Do your worse. Let the people see what kind of man you really are."
Dmitri rolled his eyes and stepped forward, holding his hands up. "Stop, both of you."
He turned to the red-eyed force wielder, giving him a nod of thanks. "Thank you for your help. The Republic needs more quick thinking citizens like you."
And then he turned to his attacker. "This gentleman has no association with me, and I have never met him until this moment. He simply did what any honest citizen would do in such a situation, which is much more than I can say for you." One of the guardsmen finally reached the center of the circle, and roughly hauled the man to his feet. "My new friend is quite right, I could make you disappear if I so wished, but I do not have any such wish." He kicked the spoon with his toe. It was nothing more than a prop, and certainly not a dangerous weapon on its own (although the man himself was strong enough to inflict severe harm, weapon or no weapon). "No real harm was done here, and I see no reason to press charges against you. I would prefer to let you return to your employers with word of how badly they have misjudged my character."
As the Senate guards escorted Koronov's deflated attacker from the cafe and the gathered crowd began to disperse in disappointment (they'd wanted a right), Dmitri looked around again for the man who had rescued him from danger. The stranger had slipped away before anyone could question him, but at the door, he glanced back, and the two made eye contact momentarily. Then he was gone. Dmitri shrugged, took a deep breath, and made his own way out. He knew security would record the identity of his attacker, and ensure that he was blacklisted from the Senate building. There was no real need to inflict any harsher punishment on the man for what had basically amounted to stupidity in trusting a sensationalist holonet tabloid.

He had hoped to avoid been really seen, enough to remember. But he had made eye contact with the Senator, well what's done is done. Using the force he called his effects to himself and force lept over a fence. He wasn't interested in dealing with security on the way out. No he had a part to be at. Hopefully someone that could be a good next employer would be there. Cass had to get ready. He secured his curved lightsaber into the caring apparatus with its unique code in the Force. Should he need it it would be at the small of his back with just a thought, like always.

Well here he was, back a stone's throw from where this all had started. But hopefully this meeting would be helpful. He waited outside the restaurant waiting for the senator. His curved hilt saber hidden at his back. He had debated not bringing it, but decided he would rather risk getting in trouble again, even in the Senate building this was still a dangerous town. He waited for his hopefully new employer patiently.

His curved hilt saber hidden at his back. He had debated not bringing it, but decided he would rather risk getting in trouble again, even in the Senate building this was still a dangerous town. He waited for his hopefully new employer patiently. After a few moments (that probably felt like a month for Cass), Senator Koronov approached along the main hallway of the Senate building, accompanied by a Lorrdian Senator. Stopping just out of earshot of his waiting guest, Dmitri said something in parting to his companion, then shook hands, and the Corellian was left alone. Or at least, as alone as anyone ever was among the hustle and bustle of the Senate: politicians, staffers, Jedi, Republic Guardsmen, reporters, and tourists were everywhere. Especially the tourists. Those were always the most noticeable and least graceful. Slowly, he approached Cass."Hello again, my young friend." Dmitri said with a smile, extending his right hand. "Shall we find a seat?"

The young man extends his hand to the elder statesman. Behind him, Cass takes note of everyone he sees. The running staffers, Jedi some serving a purpose others enjoying their status, guardsmen so bound by red tape they can't act, reporters looking for something true or not to make their career, and tourists. The true wild card, tourists, the other groups were easy to account for, to plan for, but the tourists you couldn't place. They made him nervous.
It is a pleasure to actually formally meet you. Of course.
He wanted a corner seat, it was a reflex, but he couldn't exactly ask for it here in this situation.

"The pleasure is mine."
Shaking Cass's hand, Dmitri grinned, and subtly motioned for his guest to follow him into the restaurant. It seems that they were expected, or at least that the Senator was a frequent guest, for the hostess at the front podium bowed wordlessly, and motioned for the unusual pair to follow her. Weaving slowly through the open tables that occupied the front part of the dining room, she led them past the bar and a shoulder-height privacy barrier into a more private dining area, with large, high-backed individual booths. Each dark red upholstered bench seat had enough space to comfortably seat three or four sentients of average size, and so a booth, with a pair of the seats and a large table, could have seated eight. The hostess had not led them to a corner booth, but even so there was reasonable cover on three sides, and the immediately adjacent booths on either side were deserted.
The hostess bowed again, flashed a smile at Cass that was just a bit too big to be real, and disappeared, leaving the Senator alone with his guest ... and the holographic menu embedded in the table. Cuisine was one way that the Republic could put on an inclusive face for the benefit of their visitors, and this cafe was no exception. It seemed that there was a representative sample of food and drink from almost every culture represented in the Senate, and even some that were not. Which left one to wonder: were the extra additions wishful thinking, intentional politicking, the whim of a chef, or leftovers from a previous era that no one had dared to remove?

Thank you for meeting with me. Did your assistant tell you anything about me?
Cass asks as he takes his seat across from the Senator. He smiled to himself trying to prepare an answer for the question he knew was coming soon. "What can you do for me, why should I take you on?" These questions should be asked but Cass was still unsure how to answer. How do you tell a respected and powerful Senator, one that will likely soon become leader of the Republic that you are willing to become his spy, enforcer, commander, assassin even. How do you explain to a man that represents a Jedi strong hold world that you are very powerful in the ways of the Force and you embrace the lightside, but you are not now nor will you ever be a Jedi. How do you tell him that you are not a peacekeeper, but a weapon. And mostly if he is as good as people say he is, how do you convince him he needs you. Cass should have had all this figured out by this point, but he didn't. He hoped that the Senator could read him and tell this all about him. Odd, Cass had spent years making it so he couldn't be read now he wanted nothing more than to not have to say anything.
Looking at the menu something caught his eye. It was a fish from Csilla, prepared in Chiss traditions. Cass had never heard of it before nor had he heard of any of the trimmings with it. But he thought it sounded amazing non the less.

There seemed to be a seafood theme to the daily specials. Dmitri passed over the offerings from Csilla, his eyes drawn instead to the Naboo Catch of the Day. "Yes, she told me everything that happened last night, and that is why I agreed to meet with you." The Senator flashed a momentary grin. "I know that you can handle yourself in a fight, and I know that you made Seleevan Khar's security detail look like incompetent bullies, and I know that you outsmarted security a second time by giving Aylee a lightsaber crystal to smuggle back inside the gala after they kicked you out. All of those facts interest me." His eyes shifted from the menu in his hands to the man across the table from him. "Tell me, were you ever part of the Jedi Order, and if not, how did you come by your skills?" Koronov knew Republic law on Force users, but he also knew an asset when he saw one.

I was not. There limitations never fit well with what i was taught, or with the way the galaxy is. I am not gray, or dark, to answer the question that would follow that response. I was trained under a sect of monks in the Unknown Regions. They were devoted entirely to the light side of the force and seeing how strong an individual could become. The word "power" was never spoken there. Power was not the goal, being the best you could be was. I was raised by them from birth, they taught me to better myself at every turn and never rest. The light was always the source of strength. I grew better and better each day, training. The Force was a companion to become a better me. Then I turned 16. I was told that I wasn't one of them. They had made a deal to raise me and train me until I was ready. They never told me who they made this deal with. Now that i was ready I needed to leave and fulfill my destiny. I was reminded that personal power was never the goal, and those that used what they could do to hold power over others were to be fought, and eliminated.
That may have been more than what you asked.
I do things that Jedi would not approve of. Have abilities they call may call evil, but i use them to one end only Justice.

Koronov nodded, satisfied with the explanation. If it were true, he had no reservations about Cass's powers. He was not so narrow-minded as to believe that the Jedi Order was the only possible path to following the Light side of the Force. If it were false, he would have no way of detecting the lie from their conversation. It would have to come out over time, either from a Jedi investigation, or by behavior in the field. Either way, he was not afraid of unconventional tactics. One of his best friends on Corellia had been a Grey Jedi.
"I see. Fascinating." And he meant it, it was not sarcasm. "I have no concerns about your methods so long as you follow the Light."
"Have you learned anything more about the reason for your training, or this destiny of which the mocks spoke?"

I have not... Cass looked away remembering all the times he had asked. Every time they said, "It is not our secret to tell." My eyes, my dark hair, I always knew I wasn't one of them, but that was all they would ever say. They are very secretive. I have yet to ever find any record of their existence in any database I have looked in. I guess that's what brought me here. At least here, I can be doing something. Not just sitting asking questions that may not have answers that I can find.

"Ah well." Koronov replied, shrugging his shoulders. He was very curious, but he sensed the younger man had little additional information. His red eyes had to be a clue of some sort, but Dmitri knew better than to ask about them. That wasn't something Senators could do, in a Republic with heightened human/alien tensions. "There are probably Republic database I could check in your behalf, but our information on the Unknown Regions is very limited."
"I know your raw skills, and I think you know already what I can do for you. I always have jobs that need to be done. But what, specifically, can you offer me?"
The Senator paused as a very formally dressed human male waiter, almost two meters tall, approached. The waiter said nothing, but stood politely, waiting for their orders without interrupting. Dmitri gave him a friendly nod. "I'll have the Naboo catch of the day, blackened, with rice, and your best Corellian ale."

Cass looked up The Csilla one, I am sorry I don't know if i will ever be able to pronounce it. That sounds good. To drink...He looked over the drink menu again. Like the fish he was drawn to a Stout from Chandrila. He also had never tried it but for some reason thought it would be perfect. The Chandrilan stout. Thank you.
Someone that is ready to do what needs to be done. Someone to count on in a time when everyone else is after their own. I am here because I have no place else to be. My loyalties are not for sale, but they are being offered. I have done my research into you, senator, and I know that you are someone I can offer my life too. I don't do this off hand, or because I am desperate. I do this because I see that i can help, and that you are worth helping.
