A darker blue would be nice, as would a dark green. Perhaps also something more neutral, like a silver, or a grey? Considering most people do action text in Gold, blue would probably be the best choice, or for those that write in purple, an orange or yellow, maybe?

I think a nice purple, the charcoal grey, and perhaps a blue color similar to what we had on the old site. It showed up most of the colors that people used in their posts nicely enough....unless black font was used then you'd have to highlight sometimes to read it.......

Voted for Dark Green, Dark Blue, and Purple. Dark Blue because the main blue is blinding, Dark Green because it's not JvS without a green theme (preferably a darker one so as to ensure we avoid the blinding problem but that's the option you gave so no issue there), and purple because dammit, purple's an awesome color.

A "boring" option would do wonders for me. Something that makes the site look like slashdot, with pictures minimized or disabled, but with full posting capability. It would also change all fonts to something boring, like black on white, or vice versa.
Why, because more often than not I use this site at work, and the current schemes kinda attract the eye. If that doesn't, the giant death star in the background does. If I switche pages or ALT+tab it just makes it look like I'm watching hentai or something online when someone catches the switch as they approach.
"Oh, Major, how silly and inexplicably sexy you are. Why not just use the mobile option at work instead?" You think.
Well, you think someone thumbing their phone looks good to the boss?
And how about waiting till after work? HA! Good one!
