-Z'har The Force did!
The man says it with a smile & a light chuckle as if it was a joke or play on words.
-Z'har Actually, I am on leave from my job. There are some things I've always wanted to do before ... well, the end. I figured I might as well get to it.
That seemingly small statement seemed to indicate the man might think he had little enough time left. True enough a closer look at him through the force showed him being somehow fainter or more diffuse that someone should be. Almost as if he where a watch already wound down & giving off just a few more feeble ticks.
-Z'har I figured I'd go explore the Force Users of the galaxy. Had the good fortunate of getting on well with a certain Jedi Master that wrote me what is more or less a free pass to all the various Jedi Temples.

Well that sounds like something of a plan then.
The statement confirmed what The old Jedi was feeling in the Force. The soul of the person he was speaking too was much much older than a visual inspection would indicate. There were many ways such a task could take place, and old man in the body of a young one. Some were less than pleasant, others totally fine. Though the cynic inside him was convinced that the more evil options were likely the most probable choice, he sensed no danger or malice in the man before him. If that changed, his life would be that much shorter, until then, Mir had no reason to treat the man with anything other than the same respect he would show any other stanger. It was easy, when you expected everyone to be a bastard, it made it easier to be around them.
That ship looks like it has seen better days. I am sure there are some good minds here that could fix some of the systems? Or at least repair the broken parts...He motioned to the landing strut that was straining despite the old Jedi giving it a little help in standing upright.

The large man shrugged, seemingly without noticing the ship behind him.
-Z'har Tinkering around with it gives me something to do. I kinda doubt it will be what kills me so it is fine as is. What about you? You spend a lot of time here? Or are you from another site?

Fair enough... The grizzled Jedi lowered his hand and the ship sagged even more as mettel strained and servo motors began to give way.
I have been to a few places in my time. When you have been a Jedi as long as I have you see things and places. I was at the temple on Naboo a long time ago, off planet when it was glassed... Spent some time as far as Ossus, investigating another attack. Stopped some Sith from reestablishing a sith outpost on Korriban on some ruins.
Mir paused. He hadn't thought of those missions in a long time. It was odd that they come to mind now. He shook off the thought.
Pretty much I just run around the Galaxy putting out fires until the next one starts, than I go do it all again. Same thing for 70 some odd years.

It didn't show, but Z'har was intimately familiar with all three of those glowing craters. Mainly because he had made them. That had been a very long time ago. Behind him, the ship finally stopped sagging, at exactly the point it would have without help. The strut was bent, but wasn't going to get any worse from a simple routine landing.
-Z'har sounds like an interesting life. I bet you've seen lots of interesting places. Anyway, would it be possible for you to direct me toward the library? I figure you probably know your way around here.

This place was much smaller last time I was here. I doubt I know the layout very well anymore. He opened himself up to the Force feeling for minds expanding and learning... After a few seconds he felt a hot bed of the feelings he was looking for.
If I had to guess, I would say that door and 300 meters or so down. Care for some company on the way there. I need to do some reading anyway.

-Z'har You aren't one of those people that makes lots of noise in the library are you? From the tone it was fairly obviously a joke. -Z'har Anyway, I can't stop you from going anywhere you want to go. It isn't my facility after all. With that rather open invitation hanging in the air, Z'har headed toward the archives.

The man was working through his checklist. The scattered bits of cargo that he had managed to line up where slowly being stowed on the ship. For the hundredth time, Z'har moved the loading droids still in pieces in one of the stowage closets to the top of his to-do list. Of course, they never stayed there long enough to get finished. Playing at being as weak as a human, or at least a flesh & blood was at times annoying. Beyond the cargo, he was also doing a detailed check over of the High Maintenance. Usually, he could breeze though about half of the steps, thanks to the fact that mere vacuum wouldn't kill him, & he could fix most things that could go wrong well before making planet fall. This time however, he was going to have living passengers. It would reflect poorly on him if all of them died from carbon dioxide poisoning halfway to their stop.

Adelle pressed her lips together as she read the scuffed lettering identifying the freighter as the "High Maintenance." From the leaking hydraulics on the landing gear to the rust-eaten panels comprising the hull, the ship fit the name like a nerf-hide glove. Later, she was going to talk to Na'an about how to go about securing proper passage. Probably after she smoothed things over post Na'an-explosion. Leigh knew Adelle would be tagging along; they talked it over and thought a healer's presence would be handy due to Na'an's increasing anxiety over the trip. Na'an was a different story. Adelle had made the mistake of broaching the subject once and that had been enough. Adelle huffed and adjusted the shoulder straps to the knapsack she carried then walked up the ramp.
She knocked on the doorway. "Hello?"

The ramp sagged slightly as the woman stepped on it. Mainly because it wasn't sitting completely level. Then again, the entire ship wasn't sitting level due to a bent landing strut. A moment after she knocked, a rather large young man came shuffling into sight around the base of the ramp. He promptly tripped over a thick cable that was laying across the floor of the hanger. Quickly picking himself up with a faint blush, he proceeded to pretend like nothing had happened.
Z'har Can I help you, ma'am?
At first glance he looked like a regular spacer captain. Right down to the vest. A closer look however showed that several things were off. The clothing was relatively too new. There wasn't a patch or pulled thread in sight. His boots also still had the heavy thick tread they came with. Most captains would either have thinner sole on their shoes or have them worn down that thin from day to day use. His hands & arms, where visible, lacked the common faint scars of life-time pilots, though several fresher ones were in show. The last was the set of eye pieces & nostril filters. They marked him as someone that had been born & raised on a pleasure world somewhere, perpetually unable to adjust to the amount of either pollution or regular pollen on normal worlds. In short, he looked more like some early to mid twenties young that had gotten it into his head to play a space freighter captain & learned everything he knew from holodramas. On the plus side, he was at least polite & had a rather relaxed draw in his accent.

Adelle turned and faced the man that addressed her: clean, polite, well-kept. Maybe a little too well-kept, if his appearance and the state of his ship were to be judged. She inclined her head in a neutral greeting. "Knight Adelle Bastiel. I'm one of the passengers that booked passage to Yavin on the High Maintenance."

-Z'har Z'har Desmonde, Captain of the High Maintenance. To be honest, I wasn't expecting y'all to arrive for a bit yet. I'm still working on loading up a few other cargoes.
Indeed, the sounds of further loading could be heard from the direction the young man had come. He had managed, with some difficultly, to get one of the cargo loading hatches open. He wasn't too sure about how he was going to get it back closed, but he would work something out.
-Z'har Was there anything in particular you were looking for?

"My apologies," she said. "I don't need anything. I like to arrive early and make sure I'm on time."
She took a step down and peered around to where the hangar crew was loading up cargo. "Do you need any help with that?"

-Z'har Well, the loading droids seem to be doing a really great job. They haven't caused a single leak yet.
The young man scratches the back of his neck as he seem to consider something.
-Z'har You wouldn't happen to be handy with mechanical things would you? I'm pretty sure the hatch they are using to load the rear cargo bay is jammed open now & I might need some help getting it unstuck.

Adelle tilted her head as she considered the captain's request for a moment. "Depends on your definition of 'mechanical.'"
She pulled her small bag off her shoulder and set it down on the ramp, walking down and to the back where Captain Z'har had indicated. As she approached the indicated bay doors, a telltale whine of hydraulics told her Z'har was correct. Her hand splayed over the scuffed durasteel hull and the whine became a shudder under her calloused palm as the old ship struggled. Adelle closed her eyes and focused on the shudder, feeling in her joints the subtle grind of metal on metal. Something had bent out of place, dragging along the opposing limb until it had caught on the joint. Coaxing the ship to ignore the command to close the bay doors was out of the question; Adelle lacked that kind of technological skill. She planted her feet and forced the bay door open further, fighting against its stubborn will to obey the command. The shard of metal bent out of place she visualized easing back down into its normal position, even as she felt the metal weaken where it had bent. Letting the bay doors close was far trickier; she couldn't let them operate at full speed until she was sure the piece of metal was the only problem. They had to be eased back into place and the ship fought to comply with all haste.
Finally the doors closed and Adelle opened her eyes. "I think it'll hold for now. Might want to look at getting that hatch replaced though."

For the most part the young man just stood back & watched. He didn't have enough tech on him to tell what if anything was happening, but he would be sure to check the ship's sensor logs later. That was one part of the ship that wasn't constantly breaking down. In fact, he knew at least a few full time warships that would kill for the custom upgrades he had built into the sensors.
-Z'har Well, it & half the other stuff on the ship. She will hold.
He didn't bother to point out that the hatch would hold because he was planning on spot welding it in place. He kind of doubted it would set her mind at ease.

*The incident had been so much of a blur Morgan had thought it was a dream, and a bad one. Mama was leaving tomorrow, and she was spending the night with her, only to have a dream that she had woken Morgan up to tell her goodbye. Wasn't one goodbye bad enough? But when Morgan had stirred awake, she realized that she and her pet Lokay were now alone in Mama's bed.
It wasn't a dream?!
Morgan had gasped and darted to her feet, barely stopping herself from running out into the hall without getting dressed first, but hastily. With wrinkled clothes, disheveled hair, and bare feet, she dashed through the halls towards the hangar, her tailring missing the opportunity to grab onto her shoulder and gliding along after her instead.
At last she arrived in the hangar, coming to a full stop as she scanned both with her eyes and her feelings, desperately hoping Mama wasn't gone yet. She barely felt Lokay's talons as he finally caught up to her and nested on her shoulder; in fact, just as he did so, he was nearly thrown off again when she sighted Mama and dashed toward her location.* "Mama!" *she cried out frantically when the woman was within earshot.* "Mama! You can't—" *She trailed off and she slowed to a stop as her emerald eyes caught sight of the ship Mama was standing near.* "... you're leaving in that?"

Adelle pressed her lips into a thin line. She had hoped to avoid this. Adelle strode back to the base of the ramp but stopped short at her adopted daughter's incredulous question.
"I am," she said, raising her eyebrows. "You're up early."

The young man looked somewhat insulted by the tone of voice the child took, even if on a second's review, it was probably warranted. His tone of voice was more hurt than angry, however.
-Z'har Hey! What do you mean by that? That is my home, you know?

*She had stopped Mama, this was good. But now it just meant they would only have to separate again... Was this a good idea? Of course it was! She had to say goodbye. Just as she was about to explain why she was up early, she at last took notice of the rather large young man also present, who seemed to take insult at her remark. Morgan winced, unable to offer more than,* "Sorry..."
*Looking back up at Mama and not giving him a second thought, she explained,* "I thought I had a bad dream, but it wasn't a dream..." *She stopped. Normally this was the point she would beg Mama not to go, or to take Morgan with her. But now... she wasn't sure. She would have loved to go, loved to tag along even with her Mama's earlier misgivings, but at the same time... Well, much as Morgan liked to think she was capable, an unknown scenario didn't exactly give her much ability to prepare.
She sighed, doing her best to maintain her composure.* "Just come back soon," *she whimpered at last.*
