Settling down opposite him, shortly out of easy reach. Mary mimicked his posture.
-Mary I do better work when I have clearer instructions. I didn't even know it was possible to use the Force to do more than move things or give myself electricity burns.
Focusing inward, Mary was distracted by Dandy's breathing. Rather than ignoring, something she knew would be impossible, she folded it into her focus. Letting the steady rhythm of it help her sink deeper into her mind. Past the heavy mental plates of self control, into the raging confusion of her emotions. Mary tried to push past them, deeper into her mind. Eventually, she pushed her way into a tight cluster of emotion, that seemed to be spinning around itself. She tried to force her way into what seemed to her would be the calm centre of the storm, but time & again she was knocked back.
Outside her mind, things were not going as calmly. A metal eating tray flew across the room & pinned itself to the wall with a bang, before bending itself into a U shape trying to force itself into a gap far too small. A metal drinking mug slowly imploded on the storage ring it was hanging off of. A fist sized dent was slowly beginning to push itself into the main serving bar when Mary pulled herself back up from her trance. Not immediately noticing the damaged objects, Mary was disappointed at her lack of success.
-Mary Nothing. It was like getting caught in one of those whirlpool swimming areas, but without the fun.

"Your subconscious power is greater than you realize - you moved several items without realizing it." Dand looked at Mary, thoughtfully, before finally coming to a hypothesis. "An admirable first attempt. I myself only managed a headache my first try. As evidenced by your telekinesis, though, you are trying to force the process, to push through the emotions in your mind. This approach works well when trying to influence the world, but, when trying to receive impressions of it, is somewhat counter productive. Think of your mind as a vast ocean of water...and, that in struggling against your emotions, trying to swim deeper, the waves you create in that water are things like telekinesis, and physical manifestations of the force. In creating waves, you muddy the force around you - making sensing it even more difficult. Instead, allow yourself to sink beneath the water...let the emotion come over you, breathing it in, then breathing it out - not succumbing to it, but acknowledging it, before letting it go."
Dand smiled and tapped the side of his head. "Also, don't try and sense my mind...my species is as readable as a rock. Something very rare in the galaxy. Practice trying to sense Naan; an enthusiastic mind of a child, which practically radiates emotion like a fire, is the best place to practice. Also, don't lost heart - meditation, and learning to receive the force rather than influence it, all are things that take practice. Now, try again, at your own pace..."

Noticing the damaged equipment for the first time, Mary had serious doubts that being anywhere near a child while mediating would be a very bad idea. However, she wasn't the one already proficient in the Force. Heading out to collect the child, it would seem the shopping trip would have to wait.
-Mary (in Tusken) I need to practice something & was told it would be helpful if you were there.
Looking around the small bunk room that took up roughly a fourth of what had been the spare stateroom, Mary decided it would be a very bad idea to try meditating in here. The cargo bay would be safer for everyone involved.
-Mary (in Tusken) We should probably head to the cargo bay though.

Naan had heard a ruckus outside her room, and for a few moments she wondered if they were being attacked. She had just about given into her curiosity when Mary came and asked her to join her in the cargo bay to help her with something. Naan, having already decided to make herself as useful as possible to her new companions, picked up her stuffed bantha doll and datapad, then hopped to her feet. Try to make a much better second impression she acted like she imagined her grandfather, Kal'Shor, would.
-Naan in Tusken- "It would be an honor to help you with anything. After all, you helped convince my grandfather to let me join your crew. If I refused, I would not be pulling my weight as a crew member."
Naan followed closely to the right of Mary, her bantha doll tucked under her right arm with her datapad under her left. As they walked into the cargo bay, Naan looked around at the large open space, then back to Mary.
-Naan in Tusken- "Your name is Mary, right? I've never met anyone with a name like that before. What am I going to help you with, Lady Mary?"

-Mary (in Tusken) I wouldn't really call you part of the crew. The crew is all those droids running around.
Entering the large empty space, Mary was trying to decide how much space would be needed for safety. This was interrupted as the child called her Lady.
-Mary (in Tusken) I might be plenty old enough to be your mother, but please don't call me Lady. Just Mary is fine.
Taking a kneeling position near the centre of the space, Mary pointed a little ways off.
-Mary (in Tusken) Right, I'm going to try & feel your mind. Stand there & whatever happens, don't come closer than four long steps.
Sinking back into her mind Mary attempted once again to reach her core. Unlike Dandy's statement, this wasn't her first time mediating, not by far. But up until now, her guide had been the voice called Jasper. Jasper had carefully walked her through creating the heavy mental shields that guarded her mind even now. Sinking once again through those shields Mary was caught in the raging storm of her emotions. Mary tried to let herself flow in the storm, but there was no pattern of rhythm to the storm, just a grinding maelstrom.
Outside her mind, the floor shortly let out a pitiful moan as it began to deform around where she was sitting. Slow ripple like patterns began to spread out from her, as the tortured metal ground out a ripping sound. Suddenly an arm length piece of the floor tore itself free before spinning off across the empty room & embedding itself in the wall. This time Mary did notice the damage as she came up from her meditation, luckily Naan was completely untouched.
-Jasper That isn't going to work. Right now those shields are keeping your mind from ripping itself apart. Unfortunately, a side effect is that you are cut off from feeling the finer currents of the Force.
-Mary Well, F***.

Naan nodded when told to not call Mary lady, bu then tilted her head out of curiosity when Mary mentioned feeling her mind.
-Naan in Tusken- "Like the Shamans of my clan? They say they can touch minds too, and read your thoughts like words on a scroll."
Naan nodded and took four big steps away from Mary and waited. She was not sure if she would feel Mary enter her mind, but she hoped she wouldn't. She continued to wait and watch Mary until the floor began to ripple and groan. Naan braced herself and stood her ground, grabbing her bantha doll tighter to her chest. She heard the metal ripping apart from the floor, and ducked as it flew over her head. Then, everything stopped. Naan looked around and saw the piece of metal sticking straight out of the wall. She raised both her arms in excitement as she immediately forgot that Mary had told her to stay away and ran towards her.
-Naan in Tusken- "That was amazing! It was just like when our Shamans threw a sandcrawler away from our home! Are you training to be a Shaman of your clan, Mary?"

-Mary (in Tusken) Mostly I'm training to keep from ripping chunks out of my brand new ship. I'm not doing well so far, am I?
Mary sighed & allowed herself to fall back slowly & lay out on the floor. So, according to Jasper that was a dead end for the time being. Of course she did have a rather fine handle on telekinesis. Maybe she could work that to her advantage & try to work around the block for now. Regardless of success, this was something she would have to tell Dandy.
Sinking a little lower into her mind, Mary tried again. This time she didn't bother sinking below her shields, that always led to property damage & she wasn't planning on doing so on the ship again. No, this time it was to true meditation what a daydream was to a real dream. Reaching out with her mind, she ran the 'fingers' she had built up over the head of the child, trying to feel though them. Normally, she didn't bother putting that much effort into her projections, but this time she was trying something new.
At first there was nothing but the shapeless resistance of a solid object. However, before long there was a tingling as the shape began to resolve itself. First the roundness of the head, & then a smaller roundness. A hair bun perhaps? Yes, Mary could now resolve the individual strands of hair, as if she was running her actual fingers through the child's hair. Still it wasn't enough for what she wanted, she needed more detail. Rather than sinking into herself for the focus, Mary poured more & more of herself into the 'hands'. Slowly, Mary could feel little spikes & bubbles running along the surface of the child's head. Far too fast to be actually there. Focusing more on the bumps, they almost felt ... excited, with a little bit of wonder mixed in.
-Mary (in Tusken) Are you feeling ... excitement & wonder?

Naan was about to go on about the power of her Shamans, when Mary grew silent again. Realizing she was so close, Naan took four steps back once more from Mary and waited. She was about to ask Mary what she was trying to do when she felt something touch her head. Not her mask, but underneath her mask. She reached her hand up and grabbed the back of her head and turned around, looking for the culprit. She turned around again, her hand still on her mask. She felt fingers running through her hair beneath her mask, which to her seemed very impossible, but just a little bit soothing. It was one of the few memories she had of her mother.
All of a sudden Naan felt a rush of wind like she was in the middle of a sandstorm. She was lifted up into the air and thrown about. Lightning and fire shot off in the background as she tried to gain her bearings, but she had no idea where she was. A bolt of lightning struck the sand next to her, solidified into glass and then shattered once more as the wind picked up and she was thrown about.
Silence. Naan opened her eyes and shook her head. Her heart was racing, she was sweating, and she was very confused. It was like the worst storm she had ever seen, but she was still in the ship. She looked around, as if in disbelief.
-Naan in Tusken- "I was! But, what what was that sandstorm? I saw the lightning and I was going through the air, I could barely breath. W-what was that?"
Naan looked to Mary for answers.

Sitting back up, Mary was rather happy she had manage to pull off her trick, even though she hadn't been sure it would work. It seemed, however, that there was a side effect. Mary wasn't sure what a sandstorm was, but the description hit a little too close to what she had felt herself when trying to reach the calm centre of her mind.
-Mary (in Tusken) I'm not sure, but you might have gotten a touch of my emotions while I was touching yours.
At least she was making some progress. The damages however were annoying. Mary quickly uploaded a note to the ship's repair log for some of the droids to come & fix the ripped up deck plates before she was distracted by anything else.

Naan ran back up to Mary and looked up at her, her heart still pounding a little from the experience of seeing into Mary's mind. Nevertheless she was still excited that she had seen into Mary's mind, even if it was only a little.
-Naan in Tusken- "So that was your mind? It reminded me a lot of my home during storm season. Does that mean I can read minds now? Will I be able to lift giant boulders and throw them at people like the Elder? That would be incredible! I could really help the Clan if I could be a Shaman, like Nartaga or the Elder! They're really strong!"
Naan ran a circle around Mary and hopped up a few times.
-Naan in Tusken- "So when you become a Shaman what are you going to do? I'm sure with your power you could help lots of people! Maybe you could teach me how to be one too! Then we could go and help people on different worlds!"

-Mary (in Tusken) I, I don't think that is how it works. You would have to ask Dandy about that. I'm not sure what I will do when I'm train. It seems so far off from now. Right now, I'm just trying to fix a ... problem I have.
Mary nearly mentioned the voices out loud before remembering that only Dandy knew of them. Even with just one person in on the secret she had nearly blown it open. So much for her carefully maintained paranoia.

Naan lowered her head a bit but soon perked up, determined to eventually ask Dandleion to teach her to become a shaman. The Elder had come to her when she was younger and said she did not have the Blessing of Tatooine, but she was sure if she worked hard enough she could still become a Shaman. Still, her grandfather wanted her to become an Engineer, and had told her that it would give her the skills she would need once the R'Crurak clan started moving out into the stars. She looked back up to Mary and took her hand. While young she still picked up on the audible pause in Mary's words. It was the same pause her grandfather used when he was trying to hide something.
-Naan in Tusken- "Whatever problem you have I'll help you figure it out! I want to pull my weight on the ship while I'm here. Tell what I can do and I'll do it!"

Allow the child to take her hand, after forcing herself not to jerk away on habit from the contact, Mary rested her other hand briefly on Naan's head. Leading the younger girl back to the hopefully soon ready to leave central pod, Mary thought about what she could say.
-Mary (In Tusken) I'm not sure what you can do to help, but I will be sure to ask if I think of anything.

Naan held onto Mary's hand as they walked out of the Cargo Bay of the ship, and towards the central pod. Both her datapad and bantha were now resting under her left arm as she held onto Mary's.
-Naan in Tusken- "I'm a lot more capable than everyone thinks I am. Just because I'm young doesn't mean I can't help. I can take down a fully grown Sandtusker by myself."
Naan adjusted her left arm to keep her datapad from slipping out from her grip, keeping her face looking up at Mary the whole time.
-Naan in Tusken- "If you can't face your problems alone, asking your friends for help does not make you weaker. It makes you stronger for admitting you need their help. The Elder told me that when he was teaching all the uli-ah that. He's really wise."

Mary was rather surprised at how smart the kid was. Stepping back into the main area of the Central pod, Mary was just in time to see the T1 unit use its grappling cables to lower itself down the access hatch to the cockpit & pod engines. A notice popped up in her HUD that the ship was ready to go. The blond mountain was nowhere to be seen, however.
-Mary Dandy, time to go. Where are you?

Dandleion had somewhat surreptitiously kept an eye on the proceedings - again, gauging his Padawan, and trying to measure her ability versus her personality. As he had suspected, she had quite high mental blocks in place - though, her ability as far as projecting herself was quite remarkable. Leaving once he saw there was no immediate danger, he had retreated back inward into meditation - trying, perhaps somewhat desperately, to calm his own mind. The case ahead struck too close to home...it took him back to the days when he had acted as the Captain of the Guard on Sorimow...it took him back to the days of his wife, Lyla, and their son and daughter.
Dandleion shook his head to clear the thoughts, calling out to his Padawan. "I'm here, Mary. And yes, it is indeed time to go...set in coordinates for Kway Teow, district 5L. It should be a commerce district."

-Mary Button up, children, it is time for the Tempest to fly again.
Ignoring the ladder & dropping softly down the access pit, Mary slipped into the cockpit of the pod. She did have to admit to herself that the view was great, even with the power off to the overhead screens. Instead of the usual seat, the cockpit had an elongated couch, with the roof barely high enough to squeeze a small person in on their belly. Luckily, Mary was in fact a small person. The majority of the buttons & controls where set in recessed grooves to prevent then from being accidental tripped, as most were also fitted along the sides of the pilot couch.
-Mary (Quietly to herself) Right, can't be harder to fly than an airspeeder. Now if only I knew how to fly an airspeeder.
-Titana Maybe you shouldn't fly after all, I kind of like not being dead.
Pulling up the check list on her HUD, Mary quickly flipped through the engine & cockpit start up sequence. Once everything seemed to be ready, Mary pulled up on the flight stick. Except for the entire ship shuddering violently, nothing happened. Quickly checking the readouts, Mary discovered that clamp #7 had stayed closed instead of opening. A quick order sent the HV to open it manually.
-Mary (Over the ship's speakers) Not to worry, just a little glitch.
Once the clamp was open, Mary tried once again to lift the pod out of the ship. This time went much more smoothly, though Mary did nearly ram the roof of the hanger stall. Easing the pod forward, Mary spared a glance at the outer ring part of the ship, looking like an oversized blue & red doughnut. A moment later, the collision alarms started going off again. Pushing its way out of the hanger stall the pod scraped a chunk of paint of its side on the hanger wall. A few more frantic glances at various readouts managed to spot the flashing red alert.
-Mary T1, replusor three isn't firing properly. Get in there & get it back online. Everyone else, Hold on to something.
With a shuddering roar, the main engines kicked to life. Instead of drifting out of the hanger gracefully, the pod took off like it was some kind of old-fashioned chemical propelled missile.

As Chuundar introduced himself, he confirmed the suspicions that Sacuru had had about him. A Jedi from before the Sith occupation of Kashyyyk, and had survived all those dark years, to see his people freed of such tyranny. He gave a short nod of his head in return// It is an honour to welcome you back within our ranks, if that is indeed what you plan to do. But I imagine it is another reason that brings so many of our people to Felucia. So, tell me, what can I do to help you? // Chuundar would keep his head bowed before his fellow Wookiee. He had no title, no reputation, nothing that would make Chuundar raise his head and be an equal among those present. All the Wookiee had was his lightsabers, his force abilities, his principles and his tomes. A curt nod could be seen before the Wookiee hermit spoke up.//Indeed, Jedi Sacuru. I seek to rejoin the Order and, hopefully, bring our brethren to join the Jedi in their fight to liberate the galaxy from tyrants and Sith. They have longed endured the night, Sacuru, now they wish nothing but hope and light...//

*And at last, the captive had cooperated, his weapon had been taken, and the grip around his throat loosened. As he was being escorted away, Tom exchanged a quick word with the Quarren, the latter agreeing to distantly keep an eye on the pair until the Sith had been properly contained. Once they had departed, Tom had meant to turn towards the very large soldier standing in the hangar, but his eyes caught sight of another curious being: The akk dog. Morgan's. Who had apparently been sitting patiently and obediently for his companion, who had presumably been far too preoccupied to give him a command to return to the jungle.
Smiling at the creature's faithfulness, Tom clipped his lightsaber to his belt and approached the creature, kneeling beside it and placing a hand on the smooth scaly neck, gently stroking it.* "Morgan will be fine," *Tom assured it, with appropriate nudges through the Force.* "Return to the jungle, my friend, and she'll find you later."
*The creature seemed to hesitate, mainly because Tom wasn't his master or the one he had bonded with, but then it stood and turned, calmly pacing its way out of the hangar and back into the jungle world. Tom then stood, turning to approach Keith, still wearing that smile with perhaps a bit of a mock-apologetic air.* "I'm sure you'd have preferred to more properly reacquaint yourself with everyone, but at least you got to see them before they vanished for whatever duties they needed to tend to. Again, welcome back. It is good to see you again."

*Keith had remained planted in his position, rifle raising when the captive Sith had shown himself, finger resting above the trigger. His posture was so steady he could have been confused for a statue, but so he had been trained. He watched, waiting, his trigger finger almost wishing the Sith had made a move; if it hadn't been for the skirmish at Belkadan allowing him to let loose, he would have desired a fight even more strongly. Battle was what he knew and what he did best; even though he'd managed to develop something of a personality in recent years, it was still secondary to his primary nature.
Once all had been settled, Keith hadn't eased up as quickly as the two Jedi in his presence, not taking his sight—eyesight nor gun sight—off of the shackled party until they departed fully from his vision. At last he lowered his rifle, stance easing before holstering the weapon. The Quarren departed at a word from Tom to follow the pair, before Tom himself tended to the animal that Morgan had ridden in on. Tom then addressed Keith, remarking how the latter must have preferred a more traditional greeting to his old comrades; the answer to that was "yes" and "no."
After once more welcoming him back, Keith only nodded, responding,* "It's better this way. It's like nothing's ever changed." *Though things had changed, and he knew it. No matter, he would learn those for himself in time; starting with the departing creature, which he nodded toward.* "New pet of hers?"
*Corinne was remaining oddly silent as well. Perhaps she was waiting for the proper moment to reintroduce herself; it would certainly be in-character for her.*
