"I must confess, I'm not quite sure of the details myself. I was injured in a...uh...well a battle. Of epic proportions, yes. They took me here to be treated - citing my wounds as not very serious. This is Felucia, though, the new centralized base of the Jedi. Essentially, everything on the planet is either fungus, or being taken over by fungus. Very dangerous." Picking up the carbine, Dand turned the weapon over in his hand before setting it down. He kept away from the sabers, though - knowing them to be the most precious of property for a Jedi. But, then, was she really a Jedi? "What brings you to this backwards world? You seem more at home on the streets than meditating. Not that I'm very conventional myself."

You would be surprised what you could be nagged into learning. Or forced to do to survive.
-Mary Didn't feel like dying just then. I learned quickly. I've never been off Coruscant before. All this openness is a little distracting. Where are you from?
She was so far just enjoying the spray & hadn't even gotten around to actually cleaning up yet.

"Fleeing from death is something we have in common." Dand said with a light laugh. "I must confess I myself don't like the openness either. I was born...uh...on a ship, more or less. No home-world, not...really." Not exactly the truth, but it wasn't like she'd be able to sense the lie due to his species. "What makes you go to the Jedi? A big change from Coruscant and, uh, living on the edge as it were." Why was he so on edge with her? He should be trying to crawl into that shower with her. Perhaps she struck a chord a little too close for home...too close indeed.

Having moved on to actually cleaning herself off, Mary wasn't paying more than minimal attention to the converstion. The voices in her head on the other hand were.
-Titana Ohhh, he stumbled over his words there, I bet he's lying about the ship thing. You could probably get him to confess if you went out there right now & confronted him.
-Jasper Titana, she really doesn't need any help to go parading her bits around. She manages to do so quite well on her own.
-Mary Quiet you two. I need to find so Jedi to help with a problem I'm having.

"A problem? Vague and mysterious. I assume that its related to your somewhat disheveled appearance and underfed proportions..." Sitting, Dand laughed a little at himself. "Why not join the Jedi? Not that I'd advocate it. Messy business and all."

-Mary Related? Somewhat maybe.
Drying off, she paused to think about his offer. True, her old life was over & gone by now, but did she really want to join the Jedi?
-Jasper (whispering) Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
-Titana (whispering) No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
Walking out of the should wearing only the towel around her hips, she dumps several bloody chunks of meat out of the carry all. A moment later several rather bloodied articles of worn & ripped clothing follows. Gathering the load, she vanishes back into the bathroom.

"You'd need training of course...there are also standards of behavior. Modesty is a good start." Dand averted his eyes best as he could, but eventually gave up altogether - the pretext of averting his gaze feeling more obvious and lecherous than just accepting the fact the young woman ran around others naked. "And, love, a cooler. Rancid meat is the death of civilization!"

Mary made a vague wave back in the direction of the main room. The door to the cooler popped open by itself as the meat soared off the table & into the waiting cooler, before the cooler shuts closed with a sharp snap. Back in the bathroom, Mary continued to wash the blood & as much of the caked in grime out of the clothes as she could. Some of them even began to show colours other than dingy grey.
-Mary Not much point to cover up if I'm not done. Is there?

Meat or modesty - one or the other. Dand decided to pick his battles. She was, however, surprisingly skilled in the force. "Impressive for the untrained...have you sought teaching before? Or is this more talent you 'learned'?" Shaking his head, Dand put his feet up on the nearby table, careful to avoid nudging any of the weapons and armors out of place. Inwardly, he had to wonder to the woman's motivations though...why was she here? What was this mysterious problem she had? To seek out the Jedi, it had to be something reasonably dangerous. "And no...no point if your not done."

-Mary Had to learn to live. Have a few more tricks up mine sleeve.
Of course she wasn't about to tell him that her problem was a pair of chatterboxes that wouldn't leave her alone unless she made at least some effort to learn. Hopefully, the Jedi would be able to remove them.
-Jasper If you would just learn the material, you wouldn't need to have us removed. Though by all means get rid of the Sith.
-Titana For the last time, I'm not a Sith. Just more open minded.

"I'm sure." Dand fell silent at that, contemplating the young woman. Then, uncharacteristically, divulged a little of himself. "Jedi don't tend to lie - I do, and its one of my more annoying faults. I grew up on a beautiful planet. But a...war...tore it apart. I came to the Jedi to learn how to live - not with the war, but with myself. You seem like me in this respect. So...what do you really need the Jedi for?" Inwardly, Dand snorted at the lapse in judgement - well, that's how he felt about it anyway. A lapse in judgement. The past was the past. Nothing could change it. Better to look forward, look forward and not look back.

Stepping out of the bathroom again Mary gave the man a long hard look, as if judging him.
-Mary Picked up some crystals, got some voices in my head. Woln't shut up. See them sometimes to.

Dand's brow furrowed at that. He wasn't an exemplary Jedi by any stretch of the imagination - nor a legendary one. But, he knew enough to understand what was going on. Fractured presences, life force remnants, subconscious manifestations made by the woman's own mind in response to the exposure. Any of these were valid scenarios. "Crystals? Were did you find them? What do they say, or look like?" Dand paused in his questions, before rubbing the back of his head, ruefully. "I am a Jedi you know. I may or may not be able to help."

Not bothering to move from her spot by the bathroom door, her duster floated over to her. As she shrugged her way into it, a pair of crystals drifted out of one of the inner pockets & settled on the table. A single glance would show they were a pair of holocrons. Now that he wasn't distracted by other things, he could get a good look at her face. It was a better than average, once you mentally removed the heavy pinching of too little food & the ragged scar that carved from one ear lobe down through her jaw, taking three teeth with it.
-Mary Jasper DeGuy. Male. Kind of dumpy. Says he was a Jedi.
She pointed at the first holocron which was pale green, roughly two centimeters tall, six long & four wide.
-Mary Titana. Female. Tall & pale. Bald. Jasper calls her a sith, but she says she is just a "Free Spirit".
This holocron was a cherry red pyramid roughly 7 cm tall.

"Oh...this complicates things somewhat." Dand was careful not to touch the crystals, instead using little bits of force push to nudge them around. Eventually, he simply shook his head. "These are called Holocrons. Jedi and Sith create them to carry vast amounts of information, often secret information. They are typically imbued with the force, and, the more powerful ones anyway, typically have a segment of their creators consciousness within them. They act as gatekeepers to restrict access, or, in other cases, defense mechanisms. It is likely that two of these gatekeepers have become lodged in your mind somehow. That, or you yourself have become bound to the Holocrons."
Dand grew quiet, considering his options. He should, honestly, report her to the council, or to a proper knight. However...another option entered his mind. It was likely she would be resistant to the heavy handed tactics of the Jedi. The fact was she was old, well, older, than most padawans. That affected the chances of her becoming trained. With that out the window, the Jedi would likely have to sever the ties between her and the vestiges by force - and they certainly wouldn't let a potential Sith consciousness well enough alone. Dand, though, specialized in mental manipulation and mind altering techniques; well, had a knack for them, really. He could...
No. No that was ridiculous.
But was it? She had come out practically naked, and he had barely noticed - instead being more concerned for her own problems. THAT had to be a miracle. Or the force. Was this the universes way of telling the flighty Dand to teach what he knew? He disliked the very idea of it. But, then, if he was a Jedi...wasn't it his duty to, at the least, teach a potential student some self control?
"Ok. Look. More than likely, removing the presences would be painful, and even deadly...especially two of them. A far better option would be training you to strengthen your mind, controlling your power, and then having you yourself manage and deal with them. You have the power to do that. If you were trained. Your age being what it is, though, and given your rough and violent background," He paused to nod at her weapons. "Most Jedi would be wary of taking you on as a Padawan - an apprentice. But...I would do it. I'm not crazy about it, but I came from a hard background as well...I think if anyone has a chance of teaching you, it would be me."
He held up a hand.
"It won't be easy. There's no half-assing this. Your skills in survival will you get you far...but you will have to learn brand new skills, and even unlearn entire skills, in order to master yourself. In the end, if your successful, you will have access to far more control and abilities than you do now - and, more importantly, the ability to bring about positive change in this universe."

She watched him for a few more moments before sighing.
-Mary Ya, that is what they said. Except with then as the teachers. That & they don't really take no for an answer. Just be glad you can't hear his singing voice. Fine, I'll train under you. But if you expect me to call you 'Master' you have another thing coming.

Dandleion physically recoiled from the word "master" as if the utterance was coated in something foul smelling. "I'm not anywhere near THAT old yet. 'Teacher' will do fine, as I did with my own before me." Dand stood, dusting off his pants briefly, before gesturing to the woman's weapons and armor. "There are a few rules...to wear Jedi robes, or some form of Jedi-esque clothing being one of them. I care not the color or material or style - but it should distinguish you as one of us. A single braid in your hair, preferably interwoven with beads or cloth of green and gold, the colors of the Dandelion Knights. This braid is the padawan braid, and is symbolic of your training - it shall be removed when you become knighted. As for the weapons...carry only your sabers. Perhaps the pistol as well. Under my tutelage we shall adhere to the strict doctrine of defense over offense...your reliance in the force must be developed over your reliance on weaponry." Dand waved a hand through the air, turning on his heel, and shook his head slowly. "As for me, I need to gather a few things. Meet me in the dining hall - see if they can get your rat cooked while your at it." And, with that, Dand left the room and walked the halls to find his own room, muttering to himself all the while. Aye, a Padawan - this would complicate the merry man's agenda indeed!

Mary ran her fingers through her scalp close haircut. It wasn't exactly the most professional of haircuts, as it had been done with a sword by herself, but it was practical. Now he was telling her that she had to get rid of most of her weapons & her cloths as well. Perhaps some changes were in order. On the other hand it was a very nice coat.
A quick trip to the commissary later (Mary had discovered discrete way signs & maps posted in various places), Mary returned with an arm load of new things. Pausing outside her door, she quickly reset the holotag to read "Mary Cerulea, Padawan". The jammed lock gave her significantly less trouble, as Telekinesis was something she had drilled in nearly exclusively.
A few pieces of the clothing she had brought was saved & put into one of the storage bins, along with her spare lightsabre, her pistol, a brand new carry all & a pile of new robes. She quickly got dressed to meet back up with Dandy. The rest was stuffed into the old carry all to be burned or otherwise disposed of. Taking one last glance around the room, she headed out.

*Iella made her way to the room assigned to her and went about unpacking, though there wasn't much. Most Jedi(at least the ones Iella knew) only took what was essential for travel and she was no exception to that. It wasn't long before everything was put away, save for one thing. A data recorder from her last mission, purposely stuffed at the very bottom of her bag, buried underneath the rest of the things she had packed. She hesitated for a moment before slowly reaching in and taking it out. It held nothing but pain, but she hadn't been able to bring herself to just dispose of it, even though there was no reason for her to be holding onto it. Sighing, she set it down on the end table beside the bed and went into the refresher. She had already brought those painful memories to the surface from just a brief mention of it when talking with Taralorn. Now wasn't the time to be reliving every single fateful moment...
A half hour later, Iella emerged from the refresher, a towel wrapped securely around her body. A nice long shower was usually the cure to whatever was on her mind, but that was usually when it came to some dilemma with an assignment or a mechanical problem on her fighter. This was a little different and she still found herself trying desperately to forget about her last mission. The data recorder was still sitting on the end table, and she could almost hear his voice...
Sighing, Iella slowly walked over and picked up the recorder, fumbling with it for a moment before switching it on. It was stupid, but she had to hear his voice again...
Silence at first, but then the sounds of battle, of blaster shots being deflected by a lightsaber. Then the sound of a nearby explosion, followed by more blaster shots.*
::Iella I just saw the shuttle! Did everyone make it out all right?::*Iella closed her eyes upon hearing his voice, barely managing to hold back tears.*
::Everybody's home free! I'm on my way, Kaden just hold on!::
::No rush, Iella, I can handle these guys! Make sure the shuttle gets clear before you come and get me!
*The sounds of blaster shots were becoming fewer and farther between as some time passed. Then another explosion, but this sounded more distant.*
::They got the shuttle! It's been shot down! I've got to get over there, can you hold on a little longer?::
::...don't worry about me. I'll hunker down until you get here!::
*Here, the recording cut out for a moment and there was silence. Kaden had dropped out of contact for just a moment while Iella made her way to the crash site. She had never run so fast in her whole life. She had actually made it to the shuttle, but that was when their attackers came in force.
Kaden's voice sounded over the comm again.*
::Iella, are you there? I've been ambushed! What's your ETA?::
::I need to secure the shuttle! I'll get to you as soon as possible!::
::It's OK, Iella. Just get everyone out of there. I'll find another way out!::
*More blaster shots, more deflections, the heavy footsteps as Kaden made a run for it. Iella could remember fighting desperately, trying to eliminate all hostiles.*
::Iella...there's too many of them, I can't get through...::
::Just hold on! I'll be there as soon as I can!::
::No...forget about me! Make sure that information gets to the Temple! It's our only chance!::
::I'm not going to leave you there!::
::We don't have a choice! Get that data and get out of there! Do whatever you have to do!::
*Iella didn't even try to stop the tears from flowing now as the recorder continued to play.*
::Iella...I'm sorry. I wouldn't ask this of you if we had any other choice.::
*It had taken every last ounce of composure to keep from breaking down in the middle of the fight. She hadn't been able to say anything then.*
::Iella...I love you...but I know you. Don't make me an anchor! Promise me!::
*More blaster shots, then the comm went silent again. Iella remembered screaming into the comm as she felled the last of the enemy, but receiving nothing but silence in turn. The data recorder that Kaden had with him had been the only thing recovered. The tears flowed freely down her face as she sobbed.*

*Iella sighed heavily as she lay back on her bed for a moment, wondering why she continued to torture herself like this. Listening to that recording over and over wasn't going to bring Kaden back, so why was she still hanging onto this? This couldn't be healthy and yet...damn it all, she just couldn't let him go.
A few more moments passed before she finally pulled herself up off the bed, put away the data recorder and dressed herself. She had to do something to get her mind off this and there was somewhere in this base where she could accomplish that...*
