=Not long after the events of Alexis' Knighting=
Goran had spent much of the time since finishing project's Bigman and Go attending to the other part of his contract with the Yavin Jedi, which consisted of teaching students the art of blacksmithing. It wasn't anything fancy, it was just regular metal, since the art of bes'kar smithing was a secret art that he would keep only to a small select few who showed real promise. But on this particular day, he was actually between classes, and thus was just working on repairing some items that had been damaged, when Master Rawkill arrived. He set aside his tools and the current piece he was working and turned towards the Jedi Master and his two Apprentices Greetings Master Jetii. And you have indeed been informed correctly, thanks to the help of your apprentices, I was able to get everything done without a problem, it's just over here... Goran then lead them over to one of the storage rooms and opened the doors, before he activated the lover dolly that the armour was currently situated on, moving it out into the forge room for Rawkill to examine himself It's all ready to go, with compartments for you to add on extra features...

=Not long after the events of Alexis' Knighting=
Rawkill, Athos, and Constance followed Goran over to one of the storerooms, before the Mandalorian Smith brought out the finished armour suit, loaded up on a hover dolly. Rawkill couldn't help but marvel at the size of the suit, which was nearly thrice his height, which was good, since the whole idea of having the suit was to allow him to deal with enemies taller than himself Impeccable work, as expected. Thank you for everything. Athos, Constance, let's go. I bid you farewell Goran, and wish you all the best... With that, Athos took the controls of the hover dolly and started pushing the suit out of the room, with Rawkill and Constance in the lead, as they headed up to the hangar bay of the Temple

Approximately 15 mins before the time i told Kronos last night that the lessons were set to begin, I arrived in the perscribed classroom and prepared it for the upcoming series of lessons. i set out several stations throughout the room, including a chart with the 9 darksaber lenses, a crystal forge, different examples of tools and materials used to create lightsaber hilts. and in the very center, a small raised table and two pillow seats on either side. on the top of the table was a kendama, and a pile of crystals... the first lesson.

*Kronos arrived in the room approximately five mintues before the lesson was to begin. He had left early in case he got lost in the unfamiliar corridors of the Yavin Praxeum. It was a good thing too. A couple of times he got turned around and had to ask for directions, but in any case he arrived before the appointed time. Master Tuhlute was already there, and several stations seemed to be set up for the lesson today.
Kronos went with the simple brown robes of a Jedi and his lightsaber hung from his belt. In his hand he carried a data pad for taking notes if necessary. The lesson might be more hands on. Kronos didn't know for sure, but it was always better to have something and not need it then to need something and not have it.
"Master Tuhlute," *Kronos bowed.* "I am Kronos Marek. Thank you for taking me on as your student - especially on such short notice." *Kronos straightened back up.* "I am ready to begin."

I gave a chuckle “I don’t believe you are…”
After saying those words, i looked to Kronos to see his reaction. Yes, i was excited that a jedi knight was interested in pursuing the path of the artisan, but i wanted to see how he would handle defeat.
“…That is, i believe you are over excited to begin… and while that is a good thing, i need to you to be relaxed and receptive for these lessons. therefore, I propose a test”
i moved the five crystals into a line between the two, asking him to sit across the table from me.
“This is a modified version of the trial of insight i give padawans seeking to become knights… however this is more intricate… the crystals are now designed to fool what you see. your task is simple, show me the single natural crystal among the five.”
however there were two secrets i was keeping from my new student. and to reveal one was to potentially reveal both secrets.

*Kronos smiled when Master Tuhlute spoke. Kronos found the man's demeanor to be encouraging, and Kronos found himself liking the man. Tuhlute was correct though. Kronos was over excited to start. Kronos nodded and calmed himself when Tuhlute told him that he needed to be relaxed and receptive. Kronos took a seat across from the artisan when instructed. A line of five crystals were between the two men.*
*The task was simple - find the natural crystal; however Kronos had little to go by. His own knowledge was minimal on the subject of natural crystals and synthetic crystals. As Kronos looked at the crystals, he realized he was going into this test completely blind. That reminded him though of the words Master Tuhlute had spoken. The crystals were designed to fool what you see and the old adage "your eyes can deceive you - don't trust them" came to mind. Kronos closed his eyes and reached out with the Force. As he did, he wondered if finding the natural crystal was the real purpose of this test or if it was something else. The method for finding the answer is often more important than the answer itself.*
*Kronos moved his hand to hover over the crystals and they hummed with energy. Kronos moved his hand slowly left to right over the line. He knew the Force was used in the creation of synthetic crystals, so he figured that the energy would be different over the natural one. He wasn't certain if he would find it, but he would try. Failure was just another step into finding the right answer. Kronos felt the energy shift - or at least he thought he did - and kept moving. When he completed the motion, he moved back to the spot and put his hand down. Kronos slid the crystal towards Tuhlute before opening his eyes. It was time to see if he had passed the test.*

As Kronos slid his choice crystal towards me, I was studying the look on his face. I was not sure what I was going to say. I for certain was not about to laugh in his face… and I was not about to reveal the point of this exercise just yet, I didn’t know what to say… but as I opened my mouth, the words came to me… they were perhaps more gloatie than I would have liked….
“I think I can guess why you picked that one. and it is an honor that was your first guess. it was what I would consider one of my best attempts at mimicking the natural process with my synthetics. had I not worked on the crystal, and had received it from someone on the claim it was organic, I may not know the difference myself. unfortunately that is not the correct answer.”
and with that I returned to a silent observative position to see what kronos would do next.

*Kronos nodded at his instructor's words. He had chosen incorrectly. Kronos wasn't angry about the situation. He hadn't known what he should have done to detect the natural crystal, however.*
"I understand. I wasn't sure how to go about this task so I tried to use the Force to determine which one it was. It appears that didn't work. I have one less option to try next time." *Kronos gave a smile. He was here to learn and failure was a part of learning.* "I am curious as to how I would go about figuring out this puzzle. I think I would like to continue to think about this and try again sometime."
*Kronos was truthfully intrigued by it, but that was just how he operated. Puzzles were meant to be solved and this was how he saw it. With more training or research, he knew he would be able to figure it out.*

I was pleased with kronos’ response… but at the same time my brow furrowed that because he had used the force to identify the crystals that he believed it would not be able to serve him a second time.
“The exercise for today is complete. its goal was to show me what skills in this field you already possessed, as well as… and more importantly, show me what you would do faced with a failure. to that end I presented you with an untrue statement. I led you to believe that there was 1 natural crystal amongst 4 synthetic crystals designed to trick all but the best eye. in reality all 5 were synthetic.”
i paused reaching to a small box pulling out two coasters 2 cups, and a tea pot filled with Instramtan tea. as I set the places I filled the two cups in front of us and took a small drink before continuing.
“in reality you are correct in your method, but incorrect in your judgement and execution. as you may remember from your training… The force is an energy field created by all living things, it surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together… well, the force is in crystals. not as it would be in you or I… but a latent resonance. I will not speak for anyone else but myself as my teacher explained it to me a different way. Crystals give off a resonance in the force when manipulated same as a glass when tapped. while a synthetic crystal would give off a low growling bass… a true natural crystal will give off a silver bell tinkle like the rustling of Ashla’s wings… you will have time in the coming months to find how to best explain it for yourself.”
we sat drinking for a time. Kronos would ask a question and I would answer it truthfully. when either of our cups were empty, I would refill it with the brown liquid from the pot.

*Kronos nodded in understanding at Master Tuhlute's explanation. He had done the exercise right to an extent, but his failure revealed that he had much to learn. That was his purpose here - to learn - and he would remain dedicated to that.
He accepted the offer of tea with gratitude and sipped while Master Tuhlute explained. The tea was good, and Kronos remained focused until it seemed it was his time to ask some questions.*
"If I may ask, Master, where do we go from here? I'm not quite sure what to expect." *It was the question foremost in his mind.* "Also, are there any recommended readings you may have so that I can study them." *Kronos enjoyed reading
Kronos went back to the exercise.* "I understand now why the exercise was difficult, but wonder if you had a natural crystal with you so I could feel the difference? You say the resonance is very different between the two, but does it take practice to sense it?" *Kronos wondered if this was something that he should be practicing on his own time.*

“Do not get ahead of yourself, Merin. yes, meditation takes time to find the aspects you wish to reach… but it also takes patience not to rush in. I have told you that the resonance was something that only i explained thusly. you must find your own way to relay the info.”
taking another sip i emptied the cup and poured more from the pot focusing on the small particles of tea leaf that flowed downward.
“you have answered your first question with your third. our next session will be a trip to acquire a small collection of crystals. you will understand how to collect some of the more obscure crystals and how to evaluate them for uses. then when we return, you will begin to forge your own crystals so that you may know the process.
however for texts, i would read everything you can by Felanil Baaks one of the greatest jedi artisans of the late old republic era. i would also point you toward the compendium of lightsaber crystals as compiled by Kaytren Li, and the essay on the comparative nature of the lightsaber by Rani O'haan.”
I took another sip of my tea ready to answer more questions or dismiss him depending on what the situation called for.

*Merin? The name Master Tuhlute called him had been on purpose and Kronos was sure he hadn't heard incorrectly. He was assuming it wasn't an insult. He doubted the master artisan would do that, but Kronos wasn't sure he understood. He didn't want to rush into things though he could ask later.*
*Kronos was unsure of if he had more questions at this moment. He would keep track of those he had to ask when he got the chance. Kronos sipped at his tea more, digesting what he had learned before speaking. * "I don't think I have any more questions right now. It sounds like I have a lot ahead of me." *Kronos knew it wouldn't be easy, but was willing to do the work. He awaited further instruction.*

I nodded, emptying the teapot one last time into my cup as i nodded.
“Very well, Then i task you thusly. to begin, you will prepare and pack out any supplies and rations you will need for an extended mission, paying special attention to specific environmental needs of worlds listed in Master Li’s compendium.”
i reached down the table and i grabbed the kendama. placing it down in front of the knight i continued.
“next, i task you to become familiar with this and master it without the use of the force. you will know you are ready to face your first round of examinations based on your prowess with this meditation tool.”
I raised two fingers up to do a traditional benediction, however… realizing Kronos was not truly familiar with instramtan customs, i instead switched to a basic dismissal
“Go in peace Merin, i will summon you when I have prepared my provisions, and specific transportation needs have been prepared.”

*Kronos bowed at the dismissal.* "Understood, Master. I will await your summons."
*Following the dismissal, Kronos headed to the library. He had some research to do before the trip.*

Things were taking a most unusual turn.
Monitoring activity across the Jedi Praxeum, the oracle assessed its situation. In the gardens, just outside the temple proper, Vidalu Na'an and Rutil Iorek were engaged in battle. Immediately outside the strategy center - the closest thing that the artificial intelligence had to a mainframe - Adelle Bastiel and its mechanical pawn were engaged with LE-03, Aherk Formidonis, and a recently-deceased pair of Iorek's intellectually-impaired cultists. In the archives, Mr. Desmonde was about to face down four more of the ramshackle fanatics on the oracle's orders, either to be taken into custody or - more likely - executed as a heretic. Every scenario presented their fair share of problems. Desmonde had proven himself to be a variable that outright refused to be solved, and there was no doubt in any simulation that there was more to his character beneath the foolish front he presented. Adelle Bastiel had either found or made several weaknesses in the KR-04 unit that the oracle had forcibly reprogrammed to kill her, and LE-03's sudden appearance (with Aherk Formidonis, no less, forcing the assassin droid to be far more careful) complicated what would have been an otherwise simple kill. And had Vidalu Na'an not been the oracle's primary concern since the day it was first brought online, it would have left her termination to her formidable and furious (and foolish, if its manipulation of the alleged Jedi Master had been any indication) Zabrak hunting her down.
The oracle fought a battle on three separate fronts, and if the pattern held it stood to lose in each one. This simply would not do.
A signal was sent out from deep within the strategy center, reaching the training halls. In the siege of the Jedi Praxeum, the abundant ASP-19 training droids had seen significant use. Many of them were severely damaged, but still more than serviceable. Some had managed to avoid combat at all, and were still in pristine condition. Each stood almost two meters tall. Each had a yellow-bladed lightsaber matrix affixed to a rotor assembly on their right arm. Each had been set to engage with their weapons at the highest power level, with the skill matrix set to match Master Man'sell's training sessions.
Each was activated immediately, and told to engage and terminate all organics on sight.
