Devlin, when I say what we are best suited to, I mean from an ooc perspective. When you made your character, what were your expectations for him? What role was he meant to fill, and over time, what have his abilities gravitated toward? That's what I aim to get at. We should focus on that for every Jedi, so we can allocate them in that manner.

and i don't think everyone on that list has presented themselves. let them do so on their own accord. defeats the purpose to do anything less.

Well I we are to describe what our Jedi are best suited for I would say that Mike is a no good Drunk who never listens to the council even if they do decide to talk to him. But he does have a few finer qualities, like getting Alkor to even listen, which is a big one. But mostly he is just a mechanic with the force who happens to know his way around a saber a bit. Nothing special about him really.

Don't forget Talon Frost as Knight Advisor, unless you know something we don't regarding his potential return. Fixed. and i don't think everyone on that list has presented themselves. let them do so on their own accord. defeats the purpose to do anything less. Well, I've talked with the Council members, does that count? Devlin, when I say what we are best suited to, I mean from an ooc perspective. When you made your character, what were your expectations for him? What role was he meant to fill, and over time, what have his abilities gravitated toward? That's what I aim to get at. We should focus on that for every Jedi, so we can allocate them in that manner. That's an excellent idea.

When was Talon brought on as Knight-advisor to the council? I wasn't aware of Talon being there.....I could just be misinformed.
Anywho...
What I meant by a response team is exactly as Alkor said...a team of Jedi that -want- to be in combat/hairy situations...Jedi that don't panic if they are outnumbered and outgunned. I know there are Jedi that don't want to fight, and there are those that do. We need to know who wants to...-that- is our response team. not alienating anyone....but teams of two or three Jedi that can be deployed quickly? Why would that be a bad thing? Yes, Jedi =are= all combat trained....but not all want combat. Just like some like to avoid meetings. Ossus is a good example. Yes, we were able to respond, and save -some- of what we went to protect, but more damage was done before we got there then after. If we would have been there earlier, well, I think it would have come out quite differently. We could have stopped it before it started. -These- are the scenarios Im talking about.
Ok, we -do- need to take stock of who is not only -here- as far as council members, but regularly active. Just because someone logs in to read once a week does not deem active. We need people, like Dav and Aer, who are on most every day and are on top of things OOC. I don't rightly know who is and isnt active...thats not for me to determine. But, it doesnt take a genius to understand we need active leaders. If you have RL obligations keeping you from doing so, thats fine...step away from the power position so that someone who -is- active enough can do the job. Toward the end of 1.5, it was like half the council was missing. This goes for -all- Jedi. Activity is important...at least keep on top of what the order is doing, rather than a lengthy explanation when that person logs on once every two weeks and doesnt feel like reading the pages that tell what we've done. Its common sense, honestly. Im not calling for elections, or polls or anything else. Im saying what everyone else is...take stock, let them post their intentions of sticking around here themselves. Just because they have made the character doesnt mean they will be regular RPers.

and just to pull teeth: both Will and Mike are Masters as well. Some of the oldest i might point. Geeze, a face lift and a new website and us Corellians are still taking the shaft. ;-)

I also want to point out, there really isn't a need for the Council to meet and converse in secret. As Servant Leaders, your best course of action is full transparency and communication.

This is exactly what Im talking about. Joined April 22nd, no posts yet. Just because someone has registered does not mean they are -here- and active. NOT picking on Talon specifically, but, he isn't active. *I only used him as an example because we are talking about him.* At least drop us a note saying you are here and what you are able to do....

For starters, non active writers can be put on hiatus from positions of import. If they are unable to perform the necessary duties, they should defer to those who can. (I think both Adi and Son'tir made that point already.) That's not to say Talon or the other people in question aren't highly capable writers or that they're incompetent. Just that they're not around to do the job.

problem though:
If Jedi X is in important role and goes Bye-bye for long enough to be considered in active, we put them on a hiatus roster and bring in Jedi Y (that much i get)
BUT
If Jedi X returns and gets back on course as active, Do they get their position back?

No. We can always find a new spot for them. Because we had to take the trouble to explain how they went off on some journey of self discovery beyond the outer rim, when in reality they were off in space Vegas on a heater.
